The students from Punjab think of Canada as an extension of their state. But sadly the reality is far from the expectation.

As an international student from India at a top university with a scholarship, I found it quite odd when I go to the Tim Hortons near McgIll or literally any food shop in Toronto and found talking to the guy/girl taking the order in Hindi. I am like bruh wtf I went from India to mini India, wasnt studying abroad supposed to be a difficult prospect. The senseless immigration that happens through diploma farms, that only increase the population of unskilled immigrants needs to stop. Like Canadian healthcare is on the verge of collapse, cuz u dont have enough doctors yet you want 200,000 more TimHortons workers from Punjab. I do not understand this policy. \n\nI also question the impeccable brain power of the Indians who leave the comfort of their family and home (which imo has massively better healthcare system) to come here and then live a life of hardship due to not having proper education or just not having enough money.

Thank you. I felt so good listening to you both. I have been in Canada since 1974, I was 9 when I came here. I've got an engineering degree fron UBC. Went back to Punjab India first time after 28 years in 2002. I felt at home soon as I got out of the Airport. Since then I've never felt Canada as my home and what makes it worse is that overall Canada is spiraling in a downward direction. The medical system, the immigration system, the housing affordability, the future of our children and grandchildren, to promote and force children into lgbtq community and on and on is just getting worse. There is another reason for migration in Punjab that is increasing population same piece land gets divided over generations and its not enough to sustain families so they prefer to send at least one brother out of country while other do farming the one that goes abroad help with school fees, construction of house, cars, etc. if there was a job here they wouldn't move out previous generations use to go in army for same reason.

International Students doublespeak for Indians from Punjab

Canada is attracting the worst kind of international students, poorly educated, poor civic sense, rural men from Northern India esp Punjab. I said this many years ago, to my parents, you're going to see a collapse in social cohesion and we are seeing it in real time. This is having a disastrous effect on health care too, my father waited for 9 hours to get a scan, he lives with me now in the US and it took him 45 minutes to get a scan!!!

Please, provide an explanation, as to why majority of the students are from not from India, sorry they are from Punjab. Hardly any from other other states. All of them studying at phony, questionable colleges. Its a way to get resident status .

480,000 people have immigrated to Canada in the last 90 days. These are the poorest of the poor, people that are considered low skill in Punjab. Canada is taking them all, with no plan to feed or house them.

There are great Universities and Colleges in Northern India , and India in General , so the fact is , these are not people who are coming here for Study. Punjabi people are actually really nice and helpful, I was in Punjab for 5 years and loved that place- I was a kid (2000-2005) that time but my parents till now (in 2023) say they loved punjab(Kapurthala, Jalandhar,Pathankot) the most.

I am actually from Jalandhar punjab and right now there are no jobs for youth and if you have they are paying you quite less.thats why punjabi are migrating from punjab not only to the different countries but different.states in India.

I'm not Indian, I'm indigenous from Canada and I grew up in Vancouver, where the population is mostly from Asia. Being surrounded by people of asian descent is very normal for me. I don't expect anyone to assimilate and lose their culture to exist here. I knew we had a large population of Sikhs here but I didn't think it was nearly as many as in India... and now I find out there are more sikhs here than in India. Amazing. I also didn't know we had so many Sikhs in parliament, let alone Indians. My school is mostly Indian and everyone I talk to has come from Punjab. Everyone seems to love it here, and the school is in the middle of little Punjab so I've been told by my classmates it is the perfect place for the students who are homesick because they are surrounded by their community. I rarely hear English when I walk down the halls, there is even a course to learn to speak Punjabi, which I want to take so I can talk to the students who don't speak English as well. We have many large gurdwaras, and one near me I've eaten langar almost everyday for the past 10 years. Most people here know Sikhs to be very generous and humble. It was a shock to me when I heard the president of Guru Nanak Gurdwara was shot, because I believed Sikhs to be very kind and peaceful, and the gurdwara has a very good reputation as they take lots of food into Vancouver and feed the homeless. They even opened a kitchen in the DTES during the pandemic to be able to have food available to the people immediately. No one else did anything like that. They delivered a lot of food. Now they have an auxiliary kitchen in the DTES permanently that serves free meals. I thought more news would come out of the shooting but it seemed quiet for a bit until Trudeau accused the Indian government of the attack. This news also shocked me, so I decided to start looking into it slowly. I couldn't really get a good idea of what was going on until I searched a video for Diwali and your videos came up. I will share it with my husband so he can be educated on the matter as well. Thank you for your diligent research and dissemination of important knowledge.

Have visited many countries for on-site business work, including Canada but India is good despite all the chaos, espcially South India. Started my career in infosys Chandigarh, then Gurgaon then Bangalore. My parents also might move in with me next year and Im also planning to start my own Food eatery. Over 95% Sikhs are just like me and patriotic and Love India, but yes there are issues in Punjab which need to be addressed...\nBut a large portion of the blame sadly goes to Sikh politicians. I want to tell the youth that Khalistan is a waste of time and politicians in Punjab, especially sikh politicians are completely bullshit. They are corrupt and have no vision and rely on rural votes which is sikh majority and Jazbaati over every issue and largely into farming. The Punjabi Hindus, baniyas, aggarwals and Jains own the urban economy and are comparatively more practical and forward looking in life. Many of these sikh politicians sadly themselves are involved in drug, own illegal abortion centres and labs, and even coaching centres to send students to canada on fake letters in exchange for a lot of money...\nI want to tell the youth, There is a lot of good opportunity in India. I know Punjab doesnt have much as of now (hope someday one of us can take our experience and setup a startup hub there), but other cities like Pune, Hyd, Bangalore, Mum, Chennai etc are good and once you have a stable job, its quite satisfying.
