you know we americans are pathetic. throw some unwarranted tariffs against canada and it bonds all Canadians together ready to fight. take a foreign born, unelected billionaire who takes a chainsaw to our government after a reactionary think tank wrote a document saying they were going to destroy our government an create an autocracy--- a think tank composed of people who are now in the trump administration----and now we are aligning with Putin and we americans do nothing. this is sad. we are losing our country

I'm a canadian who usually agrees with Trump but in this case I feel like this makes no sense. Not sure exactly why Trump is doing all of this but deteriorating relations between us and impacting our economies in such a way makes no sense to me. The stock market is plummeting, jobs on both sides are at risk, prices on both sides of the border will go up. Btw my job won't be affected by these tariffs so i'm not speaking out of anger or fear for my job.

As a Canadian I can tell you it is a supremely miserable feeling to have a nation which we have such strong feeling for strike at us like this. It is equally miserable to know that our tariffs will also cause pain to Americans. We are sorry, and I know that is cliche, but we are. 2018 Trump put tariffs on Canadian lumber and the cost to build a house or any thing requiring lumber went up. House insurance went up as the replacement cost using lumber had gone up.
