Most Americans did NOT vote for Trump. We appreciate Canada and we hate that this is happening. Our US president has aligned with Putin and we hate it!!!

Trump will escalate the situation even more! You guys didn’t understand, he wants to make Canada a mere state of US. This is part of a plan!

I never thought I would be more supportive of a government imposing tariffs on us than my own government, but hey Trump aligning the US with Putin and starting unnecessary and harmful trade wars with our allies is moronic and treasonous. The GOP used to be the party of free trade. That was literally their main plank for 40 years, and an idiot comes along who doesn't understand basic facts, such as how tariffs work, imposes them willynilly and vindictively, and the spine-challenged Congress rolls over without so much as a whimper. Meanwhile, an illegal immigrant from South Africa fires the people looking after our nuclear weapons, because he's also an idiot. And their fans lap up their clear treasonous acts.

Guys, I looked at the GDP of Canada and Mexico on Google. About 2 trillion each. The US has 27 trillion. I'm not Canadian or American or Mexican, I'm just wondering: do these countries have anything to counter Trump with?

Turn off the lights in America! It can be done….Canada provides electricity to most of northern America. Every crisis in America has been helped by Canadians. Canada sends linesmen down to help repair power lines after storms. Canada will always help us, don’t doubt it. Trump and Vance r complete idiots. Canadian here who 100 percent supported trump going to office making America great again but I never thought he would try to come at us Canadians like this. The reason for this is Trump wants industry back in the US, and as long as people buy things from outside of the US cheaper, that's not going to happen. Thus the tariffs. That's what they're for, protectionism. Why he pretends it won't be bad for americans or that they won't be paying more for products, I don't know. Perhaps his way of preparing people for bad times. Or the wishful thinking bit he swears to. Whatever. But what sane person would build up an industry predicated on Trump being consistent and willing to stay the course? An industry that would fall apart like it's 1920 the moment tariffs end? I predict noone.\n\nI have some experience with Clark, he was an insightful man during his command in Europe. It should be concerning when he can't see a reason for these actions, for cozying up to Putin and alienating allies. There's no end goal here that is in the US' interest. Trump's cabinet is not interested in this sort of thing, they are domestic dilettantes. There is no 4D chess. So what is the deal? Is it just his anger at Zelensky for not investigating Hunter Biden during the election? It seems... a bit too much for that, despite Trump being known as extremely spiteful.

I see this as nothing less than Trump wanting to do to Canada a slightly more palatable version of what Putin is doing to Ukraine. Trump has openly said he wants Canada to become the 51st state, even though this is a huge ask as Canada has a population larger than any US state (California is close in population size), Canada has a land mass nearly the size of the US and, including water mass, Canada has a larger overall area than the US. Trump also wants Iceland to be owned by America. He has become power crazy during a war because this is his only chance to stoke his ego to undreamable levels. Trump wants to be America's Putin.

Remind me again why Trudeau was forced to resign? Even NY Times investigative journalists recently explained how NAFTA worked against US interests and killed so much of our industry decades ago; almost the opposite of what was intended. Trade needs to be reformed across the board. It's also insulting the way other world leaders are now speaking directly to the American Public and lying to them as if they have our best interest in mind. World leaders are elected to defend the interests of their own people, many times they just look out for their own personal interest, but they are definitely not looking out for American interest. It is up to us. The world stage is a complicated transaction of this for that. That's life. Have you all forgot playing United Nations in high school? Trade needs to be renegotiated from significantly benefiting every other country but USA. Trump is trying to do that.
