They came to Canada to invest in the housing market. Many owners of houses and condos in Toronto/Richmond Hill and other areas live in China and pay managers to rent their property and take care of the money for them. China requested Canada to hand over Chinese citizens who took illegal sums of Chinese funds out of China but Canada refused due to the harsh Chinese sentences for that crime. Wealthy Chinese are laundering Billions of funds in the Canadian housing market and other investments. Although there are many other reasons for the Canadian housing bubble the fact remains that many young people and families residing in Canada can’t afford the inflated housing prices. Many Chinese come to Canada for their holidays, and one reason I know when they arrive is because my doctor is Chinese and every spring the office is packed with Chinese people who come to get their annual free check up, they all have Canadian citizenship and health cards too.

When they don't want to live in Canada and they love their country why they apply for citizenship, we had an almost same case in USA few years ago a Chaineas family brought 8 or 9 months pregnant Chaineas women to give birth to their children in USA for US passport and citizenship when police arrived at their home there were 35 couples in a 1800 square foot building with the new born baby and some at hospital and they normally left US after few weeks,usually Chaineas love their country but I don't understand why they want western countries citizenship.

It’s a shame what his family has been through, but wouldn’t commonsense tell you that your plan is dead on arrival when you’re trying to claim “asylum” moving FROM the U.S. to Canada? Why would Canada not care that he is from El Salvador when he was living in the U.S. prior to moving to Canada?

Refugees are supposed to stop in the first country they can. El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, USA, Canada. Did they get turned down three times before arriving in Canada? So I'm from a town in Ireland with a small hotel, a few years ago the government bought it and moved immigrants in overnight (literally in the middle of the night). It is still run like a hotel with cleaning services and restaurant but the occupants also receive government income. (meanwhile we are seeing an increase in local homelessness every year) Anyways I recently heard a story from someone who works for social services who collected a woman and her few kids from the hotel to drive them down the road to the new four bedroom house they were being given. When they arrived at the house the woman asked what days the cleaner would be over, the person driving said that she wouldn't have a cleaner anymore this was her house so she would be responsible for minding it. The woman put her kids back in the car and demanded they take her straight back to the hotel. So yeah, hotels may not be the greatest immigration solution.

He broke Canadian federal laws when he entered illegally to Canada! Him and his family should have been deported as soon as they arrived and under the 3rd party agreement Canada has with the U.S that is what was suppose to happen. Let's put it another way... I was born in Canada and I had moved abroad at 30 for work and was gone for about 10 years. When I got back, it happened to be the same year our PM was waiting at the airport for the arrival of some refugees with winter coats for them and their Medicare cards, as well as housing provided for them. I had to run around for a full month trying to get my drivers license renewed since it had expired, and had to wait a full 6 months to get a probationary Medicare card, p-r-o-b-a-t-i-o-n-a-r-y....I felt outraged. I am not saying that many don't have a valid reason to flee their country, but when they know that they will receive housing and cash, of course people will flock to Canada, even if they aren't fleeing something.

I am emigrating to Canada as a permanent resident and I'd like to weigh in. You have to have $12,200 before you can arrive, you don't get government funded healthcare for 3 months or other benefits. I agree with this policy
