Welcome to the party of those who thought Canada is actually is an advanced country LOL. Everything is currently broken: Rent is off the roof, houses are completely unfordable (whether getting a down payment, or actually paying mortgages of 350000 minimum in Montreal for instance/~2500 per month). Pharmacy shelves for basic stuff like Advil are empty and some people need to drive to the US to get their kids fever and pain medication. What you talked about here is the healthcare crisis which was the first one I noticed and all of that is true. And to add insult to injury, they're increasing taxes this year in a country where more than ever people are going to food banks to get well... FOOD... what a fucking joke. I'm working on my return and can't wait to take my one ticket back to my country, Canada is not worth it anymore and highly advise anyone considering to come here to re-consider whether it's worth it to live in a cold country, highest taxes rate, far away from your family, for basically NOTHING in return.

As a dual citizen, there are so many things that's incorrect about this video. First of all, to make it an apples to apples comparison, I see no attempt to adjust the comparison by population. There is no point comparing Montreal (where I have lived) vs. Columbus, Ohio. Montreal is roughly 1.7 million people or 4 million metro. The correct comparison would be something like Boston. Similarly, there is no point comparing Montreal vs. LA in terms of geographical spread when LA is more than three times the size. So of course your commute will be different.\n\nComparing Montreal to Boston for example, Boston is very very compact. Yes, Montreal does have better food options than Columbus or your random rural suburbs. It doesn't come even close to similarly sized American cities. It's the same reason for example that one doesn't compare San Francisco for example, against London, Ontario. It's a pointless comparison.\n\nAdditionally, the claim that the worst part of Canada is better than the best part of America is laugahble. There is no truly terrible neighborhoods in Canada compared to American ones (where you can tell if you're in a bad neighborhood), but Canadians can't even imagine the wealth and prestige of the best parts of America, let alone compare with it. The wealthiest don't live in downtown New York (where they maintain their work residence), they live in Montauk. They don't live in downtown Boston, they live in Newton or Weston. The most affluent parts of Canada like Bridle Path/Rosedale (Toronto), Westmount (Montreal) or North Vancouver would look like abject poverty by comparison.\n\nOh, let's not also forget other factors for being in the US. The median household income in Canada is $67,000 Canadian. The median for the US is $69,000 US. The typical American is far wealthier than the typical Canadian. Anybody who tried to buy any goods (or services) in Canada and compared their choices in the US, it's not remotely comparable. Of course, the usual, taxes.

I'm American. I'm from Louisiana. I'm a military brat and a veteran. So I check all of the necessary boxes to comment. ? Southern Hospitality is real. Louisiana is all about good food and good times. Come on down. Also, traveling around the world, I do love that we have a lot of diversity here -- cultures, nationalities, religions, scenery, food, and activities. THAT is what makes us great. Beautiful city and has very good hospitality. My ex lives in Toronto. She didn't like it when she first moved there. Not sure how she feels about it now.

It's all about perspective. First of all people come and leave every country on a yearly basis. 2nd You are right about the healthcare system it definitely could be much better but it beats living in the states where you could be wiped out with an expensive health challenge that insurance won't fully cover or just covers 75% and leave you on the hook for 25%. That still can be hundreds of thousands of dollars. 3rd you mentioned that it's cold, and you noticed that being black with an accent made you stand out and seem different. Well you have to realize you moved to a different country so you will be different to the people who live there. I don't mean to sound harsh but that's just common sense. As long as you have the equal opportunities and are being treated equal in regards human and civil rights then I don't understand your reason to point out the obvious of being observably different in a foreign land and experiencing different weather or activities. It doesn't make sense to move to a different country but expect the same things you experience in your previous country. I immigrated to Canada from the states and it was a bit different for me as well but I had to come to the realization that I wasn't in North Carolina anymore and I shouldn't expect the country to change for me. That's not how the world works. 4th and final point. Ontario is expensive, so yea you can't get ahead there. Move to Alberta where cost of living is cheaper, Calgary has the most sun out of all the cities and it's typically really cold only for a couple weeks in the winter with decent summers.

Me I'm planning to return to my country. Canada is becoming babylon. I prefer my country if not of money and jobs. Canada is not the best. They show all those touristic sites and fun, but come here first, you'll not have time to go anywhere. Work pay bills and taxes, that's all. Ugh. To make things worst, the PM is a scum and dictator. Did someone pay you to perpetuate the LIE that Healthcare in Canada comes out of people's taxes? That's certainly the impression that you have created. BE CLEAR. Each Province has its own universal healthcare which is funded - NOT BY TAXES - by a premium paid similar to regular insurance (except there isn't anyone skimming profits off the top). For example - the Ontario Heath Insurance Plan - OHIP. As a pensioner, my OHIP premium in 2014 was $98 per year. In the US I pay 12 x 167 = 2004 - over 20 times the amount AND I have to pay the first $4,000 of cost myself. Yes, you have to WAIT after moving to Canada before you get full coverage. As a Canadian, if I came back to Canada I would have to wait 6 months before my health insurance kicks in. BUT if this were not the case sick people from all over the planet would flock to Canada for free medicine. As for the Doctor shortage that is CREATED by the Canadian Medical Association limiting the positions available in Med schools. Nobody loses their house and goes bankrupt in Canada because a family member gets sick compared to about 700, 000 Americans per year who suffer that fate. AND no children die in Canada because their parents didn't have Healthcare. As for immediacy of service - it depends on how serious the medical problem is. Few, if any, people die in Canada because they were seriously ill and were told to go home and take Advil.

First let me say that every country and I do mean every single one has their pluses and minuses Canada's major plus is the fact that crime is almost nonexistent as opposed to the United States where there is a mass murder every single day and a mass murder defined as four or more people killed in One Time by one person this does not even count where there is just two or three people killed at one time they're not included in the statistics the United States is out of control with violence guns you name it and I've lived here for 40 years I spent the first 20 years in Canada in my life was so perfect that I can't even dream of a better life the problem with most people is they move to the larger cities Vancouver Toronto I grew up 40 miles outside of Montreal on the great Majestic St Lawrence River one of the truly great rivers in this world my parents had a summer home on the river and every summer it was water skiing fishing boating golfing swimming you name it growing up 40 miles outside of Montreal if you wanted The Nightlife of Montreal one of the great International cities in this world then you could just drive there in less than an hour and enjoy the great nightlife that is Montreal as someone who is French and Italian I loved the winters because ice hockey was my favorite sport and I played all the sports nothing even comes close to the speed skill and excitement of ice hockey it is like soccer on steroids they're only two cold months during the winter January and February and even then it's really enjoyable as long as the temperature stayed below 32° I was happy because that meant that they could make outdoor ice rinks and I could enjoy my favorite sport of ice hockey all winter long Outdoors as someone who's lived all over the United States over the last 40 years I wouldn't trade Canada for any place else the United States is full of scammers I've been in all kinds of businesses working for different companies and there's rarely a company that I didn't get cheated by and had to take to the labor board for justice and compensation I trust nobody the main thing here is stay away from the major cities of Vancouver and Toronto and you will be able to have a great life with affordable housing and if you're into the outdoors Sports Canada is the greatest and best secondly Canada has the third largest oil reserves in the world and so there are a lot of Natural Resources that Canada has that is wealth for the country that will filter down to the average person what people don't realize is it when you live I've lived in Southern United States and most places the summers are unbelievably excruciatingly suffocatingly miserably hot hot hot at least in the Colder Weather you just put on some great looking ski wear and you can be outdoors and not be bothered by the cold because you eventually a climatize yourself to it Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area and has only a 35 million population there is a lot of room for growth and opportunity and in a safe safe environment to raise a family and at the end of the day that's what it's all about I wish I could say the same for the United States being safe but no it is not and Mexico is they have six out of the top 10 most dangerous cities in the world and Tijuana is the most dangerous city in the world with almost 2000 murders and the year is not over don't believe me just Google it the reality is that the drug cartels control everything in Mexico and the police and politicians are afraid because the cartels are so ruthless there is way too much money to be made in selling drugs and the cartels will stop at nothing to make sure they get their money by the way most of my family still lives in Canada and are doing extremely well for themselves and I am the only fool that moved to the US

Great video. The Us & Canada seem to be similarly alone when it comes to tax application. Sales taxes are applied the same way in both Canada & the US, on top of the sales price. This is shocking at first until you get used to it, if you ever do... income taxes are also similar, filing tax reports federally and in some cases by province or state. FYI, for folks with multiple jobs, one should be able to complete a tax form so their employer does not take the personal tax exemption. means lower pay but less surprise come tax time. Agree on employment & technology, seems like Canadians need to see new tech elsewhere before they adopt... and experience outside Canada not being counted is something many companies and governments here are looking to address, but the pace is slow

There's a housing crisis Everywhere for renters coming into the market and first time home buyers. They needs to be more co-ops. I know of huge amounts of seniors living alone that have no place to go and choose to stay in their big homes because there's no other option for them, and if there was they'd prob refuse to go anyway. My mother is one she's 88. We've been trying for 2+yrs. Anything that suddenly opens up she refuses. Lives in a small city in southern BC. More Co-op's are needed.

Interestingly, all the people interviewed seemed to have had a first degree in Nigeria considering how new they are in Canada, even the interviewer, thus if Nigeria is so bad how did they blend easily with the Canadian system if they learnt/gained nothing from home? The problem with mankind is that we all forget to thank God for little mercies. We focus only on what we lack but not thankful for the little we have. That foundation in Nigeria, that good culture, in Nigeria, that Nija intelligence, that Nija confido is what makes it easy to emigrate out of Nija and do well anywhere in the world seamlessly. @CitImmCanada -I came to Canada in 2018 , paid my Tutiom fees working day and night offf , completed my graduation in 2020.I worked as manager in gas station from 2020-2022 during pandemic putting my life on risk , you guys first messed your immigration system during pandemic,after pandemic you got this absurd system of TR2PR , messed up your own system , in which there are Still millions of files pending , then you guys stopped the immigration for 1 year, still I thought it would get better with the time. When the immigration started back in this July the scores were so high that only PHD and people outside Canada with 0 canadian skills can only get the PR. You guys then gave visas to Afghanis , Ukrainians (the fake humanitarian help your government provides )which I don’t mind but the government should have fixed the people who are and we’re here , who came as students , who has all the details of the individuals , has all the experience needed , has all the potential needed to start the career , has 0 criminal record but no you guys keeps getting new and messed up plans. like seriously this country and system is run by this type of people. First of all great content & kudos to the team for doing great research and coming out with this. Yeah it's hard to find a job and keep the job in Canada. Even with a job that doesn't require education and anybody can do, I come across someone who is not happy with me being there and they try to find reasons why I shouldn't work there ?it happened 16 years ago when I first got into workforce and it happened not too long ago again. I was inventory clerk counting products at different stores. I believe I was an accurate counter and someone who recounted them told my manager I wasn't good. She said many of them I counted were either off or she couldn't understand my writing. And the manager had to have a talk with me. I can honestly say I was better counter than she was. And I feel very confident I was very careful with counting that day too. But she thought otherwise. I couldn't bear working with someone or some people who didn't appreciate my work or my presence there so I had to quit. It will happen again and I thought it wouldn't matter how accurate I am at counting. One of my Canadian colleagues once told me that it's okay for immigrants to live in Canada but it's not okay to work with them. I don't know if that's a fact but in my experience I have encountered some people like that along the way.

Why not make India a better country by changing how your country is now. You young people are the catalyst for change. Coming here to my country doesn't change the deep rooted problem of how India operates. Your being here displaces those of us that were born here to compete for affordable housing and job's. For me if you come to a small community college is not easy. Like this people who come straight with no background sometimes even small family own store may not even hire you. Nowsaday jobs in canada is need at least 6 month experience or a certification that you actually did some hands on activity completed in the course. I also agree with some comments research before you come here. Many Indian student are so eager to get a job but without at least a 6 months experience need not easy. That is why sometimes I see many student suffer but in my opinion you have to know why you come here in the first place.

American where religion comes first

Keep your bloody faith out of the their country. Law of the land comes first. Otherwise don't go there. Simple.

We don't live there, it's not our religion, it's not our life, then who are we to condemn and be opinionated about them.\n\nThirdly, whether the kirpan should be allowed inside an educational campus can only be determined by the campus authorities, the local police and the Sikh community representatives there.\n\nYes, he could have and should have worn it on the inside just like so many Brahmins wear the sacred white thread (yajnopavita).\n\nHe could have taken prior permission from the college authorities to freely wear it if possible and all this could have been avoided. Maybe he doesn't get the permission to wear it, who knows, there are countless possibilities.\n\nAnd lastly, I've come across so many comments labelling the Sikhs as Khalistanis, then if there's some other incident, commenting that people of so and so faith are terrorists, etc.\n\nBy all means, please call us Khalistanis, please call us terrorists, call us anything you like, but we'll continue to respect and love everyone.\n\nIt's a shame that our Jawaans are dying on the border fighting for their country, fighting for our country, fighting for us and we are creating divisions amongst ourselves. I'm sorry but you're coming off a bit precious this is a worldwide problem it's not just happened in Canada I think you do need to get over yourselves a little bit don't you just love First World Problems if you think of America is better why don't you move there I guarantee you won't like it there you have to pay for all your healthcare if you can't just go away and die and that country. I appreciate this video. I am a Canadian woman with a Gambian boyfriend. He thinks that he's going to come here and become rich easily and I keep telling him it's not the paradise you think it is. I keep telling him that cost of living is always going to be more than your income and it's really difficult to get ahead to a point where you can enjoy your income. Thank you for sharing, maybe he will hear it better from you as you have the first hand experience.

I came to Toronto in 2018 to visit Canada for the first time, and I went to an Italian restaurant where they were obviously very prejudiced and did not like to see a black man eating there. My GF then forced us to stay when I expressed my unease staying in that restaurant, but the drink and the food were just disgusting and I believe they did serve us that way on purpose. I even felt like they spat in my food. For a moment, I felt like I wanted to punch the arrogant and condescend manager in a face, but the grace of God wouldn't allow me to do such thing! I am not tempted to come back there anytime soon!

As a Quebecer, thank you for putting our Belle Province in first. When I clicked play, I was afraid we'd get bashed immediately and ranked tenth. I agree with most of your points, especially relating to the food, history and culture, and the natural beauty of our rural regions (Abitibi-Témiscamingue, my father's home region comes to my mind). \n\nThe only thing is, enough people are having problems with housing in Montreal, and home prices on the island have become unaffordable. This is a factor that contributes to urban sprawl, as a lot of young couples will decide to move to the North or South shores and buy a nice home for a lower price. Also, we haven't invested nearly enough money in public transit over the past few decades, leaving a lot of cities and areas undeserved. At least the REM might help fix some of that!\n\n\nBut thank you for making this video! I also have a lot of respect for the other Canadian provinces and have appreciated what I've seen in Ontario, BC and Alberta. I plan on visiting the rest of the country in following years, if I have enough money and time to do so. Thank you, and subbed!

Well said Mate. I'm Nigerian studying in Melbourne and you are very on point with your submissions. Australia is notoriously gaining a reputation of being a country of temporary immigrants. I dont see why I should give my best years to a country treating you as an option when canada is making you a priority. \n\nWould you have stayed on if you got a Job in your field that also chose to sponsor your PR? Would the cold in cananda make you reconsider your decisions? That's a racket I dont seem to understand. So much emphasis on skills and job shortages, yet many skilled graduates from their universities are being denied jobs based on their Residency status. \n\nI.met a Ghanain PHD student in my Uni who came from Canada, he said wages are higher here hence his reason for coming. \n\nLike you said , its a personal journey for everyone.\n\nSomehow, I don't blame them. Very good video. I am an Australian citizen, and I share your views. Also I want to add another reason why I prefer Canada than Australia. Being originally from Peru, I currently live in Peru, my wife is also Peruvian and a baby with 5 month at the time of writing, however there is no family reunion visa to take my whole family (only my baby who will hold Australian citizenship but not my wife) so I cannot take them both, because migrations force my wife to apply to the Partner Visa, that cost AU$7850 (US$5,600) plus agent fees, documents, ticket price, and other cost. Also the waiting period is about 24 to 28 months. So if I return to Australia, I first need to find a job, then save the $5,600, send and amount of money to Peru during my absence, then wait about 2 years and spend about $10,000 to $15,000 extra to bring my family to Australia. The cost of waiting carries a lot of anxiety, health issued due to the uncertainty and may damage my marriage, And if I get to my wife a Visitor visa, she is not allowed to work and study, and I must pay private insurance, and for experience, private insurance policies and gap costs are very high. Of course visiting my family every 6 months is costly and timely prohibited, an economic flight from Australia to Peru costs about US$2,500 and takes about 1 day or 38 hours, add also the jet lag and day difference.\nIn contrast, Canada allows me to take my whole family in just 3 months, my wife can get a working visa, and if we decided to reunite in 6 o 9 month, I can go to Peru every long weekend to visit my family, a flight from Toronto to Lima is about $500 return and only 8 hours so I can go to Peru and come back to Canada in a long weeked, a luxury imposible to do if I lived in Australia. \nWhen my father passed away here in Lima, I was in Australia at university, and due to cost and time, I couldn't go to give him a farewell and to his funeral, a issue that regretted; for that reason, my mother-in-law, who needs care and being my wife, her only child, after facing my own experience, we decided that Canada and not Australia, is a better choice, if something happens with my in-law, from Canada my wife can see her quickly.\nThank you for sharing in this video

Welcome to Canada first if all. Why do people choose to leave their own homeland, then complain once they move to their chosen location? Canada has wonderful opportunities for anyone coming here, but if you think it’s a bed of roses, your dead wrong. Do your homework , research, decide what’s best for you. Live here for a few years , decide then. If it’s got you, move on, move out, your choice. But like any country there are good as well as bad. You can live a good life in Canada. So sorry we have cold winters that make us have the need to import many items and drive up the need to live here. So sorry you came and don’t enjoy the lifestyle here. I listened to your chat. I did not appreciate some of your reasons for why people leave Canada. First of all life is what you make it. There are lots of things to do if you are interested in being active. Canada is a very beautiful country and there are lots of places to visit and enjoy. \nYou need to educate yourself about what people are paid in the US and Canada. The minimum wage is a lot higher in Canada. I suggest that you leave Canada and then you will appreciate what a wonderful country we live in. Go to Trinidad for example and buy groceries ...pay over a thousand dollars a week for food, then tell me that food is too expensive in Canada. (25.00 for a box of cereal)!Go to a hospital there and you will wait for a whole day just to be seen. Yes, we have a shortage of medical doctors and nurses here, but they are trying to fix that. Sure we pay taxes, but if you or someone in your family needs a heart transplant, a knee replacement or whatever, you will get it FREE in the hospital, and while you are in the hospital, your bed will have sheets and pillow cases. Drive your car on the roads in Trinidad and the potholes will ruin your tires, not to mention the frame of the car. Your taxes also maintains parks, roads and bridges for the safety and enjoyment of everyone. The government has no control over the weather, so complaining that it is too cold or rainy is up to mother nature. During the lockdown I am sure you received money from the government to help you, everyone did. Do you think other countries paid their people money to help them get through this crisis?? NO!\nI love Canada, it has been good to me and I never regretted emigrating here 42 years ago. I go traveling to other countries and I see how other people live and I am happy to come home. Canada business system prefers the big franchises businesses that have millions of dollars. If you have a small shop or restaurant get beaten by the big corporations that has franchises. the food costs are high and when selling u just cant sell for a better profit that can actually make you money. The Chinese and Indians knows how to sell little many items at a low cost just to be on a very tinny profitable way to keep on going. The Multi big paying makes money in Canada not the small business immigrants come and create. Those business don't built wealth because the big corporations are pushed by the Gov more in creating jobs and paying the big corporate taxes that in turn the taxes help support the social programs for those that cant work and also providing the basic needs to those that needs it through the taxes paid. In many African states many of the individual business that strife and create wealth because there isn't too much huge corporations that competes with this small business like the first world nations. In SA for example we have seen an explosion of many migrants going there creating small business and striving better than they will be in Canada. The taxes are high in Canada that's true u cant be rich sorry u will work until you lose your hair f not your hair turns white in a very short time due to too much stress and worries. Canada is good for social programs it takes care off those that don't' work if you work forget about getting rich but supporting those that don't work through the allocated taxes. Canada and the first world nations supports Big corporation and Franchising not really a fan of small business even when they are here they just don't create huge profits to think they will make it. Life in Eastern Canada (Quebec and Ontario) is way better. \n\n2) Weather : rain during winter is really a BC thing, the rest of the country : is SNOW and cold for 4-5 months\n\n3) Again, the cost of living is super expensive in Vancouver and Toronto. Here, in Montréal, it’s affordable.\n\n4) The more taxes you pay means you are making good money. 50% of taxes is \n\n5) Canada is beautiful, but if you don’t like our country, why did you came here in the first place ? \n\n6) Covid : Mmm it was maybe extreme, but Canada is one of the country that manages the best the pandemic in the world \n\n7) Rules ? Try coming to South America where I was born. There’s a lot more rules there and good luck for your safety \n\n8) Politic ! We are actually one of the most democratic country in the world. People fighting about politics? Brampton born and raised. The city drastically changed in the 90’s. I will be the first to say not all Indians are bad drivers, or bad homeowners! They come from another place and not used to the Canadian culture. Cutting grass may not be a thing in India, parking cars on the front lawn may be fine in India. It’s something we will have to get used to. Sure it’s an eyesore but surely their kids will be Canadian and adopt the cleanliness aspect.
