why doesnt Canada just sanction America? ban all American goods in response? forcing trump to waive the tarifs?

Trudeau must go and the barking of provincial ministers like Legault in Quebec is pathetic!!! I was hoping that Legault would look for a partner in Trump, not an opponent! Legault forgot that the most important problem for Quebec is maintaining its national identity! Quebec's lack of cooperation with Trump's US is idiocy. The western provinces of Canada will take advantage of Legault's confrontational idiocy!

As an American I believe ALL Canadians should boycott US products and spending in the USA. This is not how the USA should treat its allies and friends. Now Canada will never trust the US and things will escalate. To all those commenters that say the USA has the upper hand and will win this battle, yeah maybe so but that's not how you treat allies and in the end the common man on both sides of the border will suffer. Trump has already admitted: Tariffs do raise the US Cost of Living and that they are paid by US Consumers (including MAGA Consumers) NOT by the foreign country. He originally imposes a 25% Trump Tariff on Canada but only 10% on its oil and gad exports to the US. WHY?! Because he knows Tariffs will increase the Cost of oil imported to the US and therefore gas prices, and increase the Cost of Living to MAGA Consumers and decrease his political support. Trump is a grifter, so anything he proclaims is likely 10% truth and 90% Lies. Watch what he does and not what he says!

Probably not a good move for Canada to play games with Trump, their economy is in excess supply and the US is the largest consumer market, they will fare much worse. Ditto for Mexico, their economy being 1/25 the size of ours. Fixing the border is a win-win.

The racism goes both ways. I grew up feeling disrespected and mistreated by them (not all of them but a LOT of them). I try to be respectful and give everyone a fair chance, but it's really difficult when they are constantly being rude when I interact with them, or giving me death glares... like what did I even do?? I have been bullied by them in the workplace, and made fun of by them out in public. And for NO reason. I try so hard to be nice, but it's clear that so many of them hate me before I even open my mouth. I know a handful of them that are really awesome people though... but they respect the culture here in canada, and they treat all people like actual people.

What will Canada do, you ask? For starters, it can clear the truckload of foreign workers taking sub-par wages at job sites for my son's 3rd-year electrician apprenticeship - a job he hasn't found any work in for about 4 months now in the GTA. Yes, these workers and the companies that employ them have been illegally using the system meant for workers that cannot be found locally to hire for lower wages than Canadians. Some of them are fully qualified electricians willing to work for $22/hour - just $4.80 above minimum wage - you cannot survive on that in the GTA. So, not only do these workers steal jobs, they drive down wages. The companies need to be fined for misuse of this code.
