You need to understand that the price of ..let’s say telecom is built in a linear topology so that there are much fewer regional centres across the country to spread the cost of infrastructure. As someone in his late twenties living in Quebec, I got to say this is very accurate. I won't say things are as bad as some other people are saying in the comments, but I do feel like the country is going downhill. For me, these are the main three things that feels wrong:\n\n1. We, as citizen, tend to offload every responsibility to the governments. Each election, they promise to handle more, but fail times and times again to deliver on their existing responsibilities. But we still vote for them, because we fear personal responsibilities. They created these immovable bureaucratic monsters and they lost control. They promise new shiny things instead of fixing what is already in place.\n2. We lost all notion of what is necessary. People gets more and more entitled which leads to overconsumption and frustation. Quebecers used to be proud peoples who survived with the little they had. Now greed has consumed our identity and nothing is holder us together.\n3. I feel that jobs are less and less useful to the society. Even I, as an electronic/software engineer, wonder if my job as meaning. I feel we lost touch with the concrete world. Some people have 0 contribution to anything useful and have really good salary and work conditions, while others bust their ass in shitty conditions. I feel like everything that we need is produced/done by a frighteningly small amount of individuals.\n\nBut from what I heard Canada isn't the only country to feel these. Imagine a war torn family with 2 kids and the mother and father reach one of their borders, All they want is safety food and shelter. Nobody cares about the motherland when your family is in danger, will they give them asylum or refuge in that case? Or will they keep saying the root problem needs to be fixed to them and send them back to get killed with their children, this is a horrible answer. Palestinian people are humans too and giving them refuge does not mean giving them your land.

I’m an immigrant of two years from the UK. I have to say at the time of moving due to Covid everything was expensive throughout the world and there was uncertainty in most things. Myself and my wife now have our own businesses as we found that the system here does not favour immigrants in getting the jobs Canada claims it needs to fill. The reality is the government and unions don’t want educated people to fill mid to high paying jobs and it’s impossible to get jobs in teaching, nursing, doctors etc if you are not educated here. The government wants immigrants to populate and work the low paid jobs even if they have a bachelor, mba or phd.

As a Canadian, I looked into becoming an auto mechanic. Its going to take a year of school, tuition and then, in your first year, you'll make entry level wage and have to pay $3000 in tools. You might even need a truck to haul your tools around. They keep saying how they need tradespeople in Ontario, but the licensing/ apprentice process takes so long for people to transition into. Every trade is so complicated to get involved in. There is a situation where there are willing and capable people, but the admin process is too expensive and bars people who are in need of paying groceries, rent and bills. They can't find enough millrights either. Its the same problem.\n\nYou've got a surplus of willing and capable workers and employers seeking talent, but the admin process inhibits the entire process. \n\nIf I could start apprenticing on-the-job today as a mechanic or millright I would. But, I need to support family, so instead I am working readily available joe-jobs. \n\nAll trade positions will continue to be unfilled on job posting boards, while potential candidates will be busy working low pay jobs in warehouses etc. just trying to survive. Ontario is idiotic! Back in 2014 they introduced the Ontario College of Trades which only sought to take admin fees from every conceivable profession. The old bureaucratic established people in Ontario have a way of keeping everyone as peasants and minions. This is also why people are leaving for Alberta (a wise decision).

For housing, something that needs to be and should be discussed is the land base. \nI know some real estate players in BC that laugh when people talk about housing and affordability, they say look at the landbase and who controls it. In BC its a crazy amount to 94% and only 5% available for ownership of the people. No option to apply and buy anymore and only lease. That is why even rural lands in BC 40 to 60 minutes outside of a teir two or three city is still thousands per acre! To the coast to coast to coast average its 88%+ controlled by governments and not the people. Do the math there and you will start to see the connection. \n\nAlso, for health-care, its not free just paid for through taxes by the governments on the people. It is broken in so many ways and most likley too big to fix kr repair now without a full ripdown and build up. \n\nMany orher things but just my initial points.

Rent will keep increasing as there is no competitive market. as many of the people in Canada are already operating carousel tax fraud. Look that up on W5 and Canada is doing nothing to stop this, guess where all the ones at the top of that carousel are from? As long as there are ones operating illegal business earning more than the average hard worker being able to afford higher rent the rent will not be decreased but keep going up. Let's think about this clearly, as the population grows we need more businesses, more schools, more produce etc... Fact we need the same amount of business for a community based on the size of the community I would think. In the 1800's a small school house was sufficient, a local convenience store was enough with a mail order catalogue etc.. As population grows you need more. We also now have self check outs etc.. We are cutting down Canadas number one resource trees to make way for more and more roads etc.. Having to spend more to change and widen roads, feed these refugees, support them till they get situated, house them for how long, educate, train them, and then hope they can actually adapt and not hate us etc.. Look around the world and not just in our own back yards i.e. what happened in NY today, look at Britain afraid to put up Merry Christmas not to offend or any Christian monuments. There is no housing, its a year wait to see a gastrointestinal doctor. How are the 750 thousand immigrants in three years helping this situation. They all need healthcare and housing. They say we need them to build houses but all I see is linups around the block for a single grocery store job.

I had a conversation with my Uber driver last week, he was a immigrant from the middle east himself, we were both upset about people coming over here and not integrating into Canadian culture and society. He said he came here so his children could grow up in peace and prosperity, but every day he sees people trying to make Canada more like the place he left.? There is NO DREAM in Canada. The doctors, electrical engineers, and financial professionals have Big waste of time here. A very well experienced Doctor from say India has got way more practical experience and surgery. What all they need time is to get some system training. A Dentist, ophthalmologist, heart surgeons, orthopedic and so on with small training they can be easily absorb in the system after thorough check on skills.

Like you, I know someone happy with their job, location, medical care and opportunities, but they are also very uncomfortable with the political situation - I'll just say it - Republicans. You need only look at Trump and its followers. Guns over lives (including kids), billionaires over poor, religion over others' freedoms (gay/trans/abortion, etc), mass spread of misinformation (Fox news, OAN, etc) and a personal selfishness and anger which was made very clear during COVID times. It makes them feel like they are walking on eggshells, at least compared to Canada where they lived before and people would look out for each other more (even if they didn't know them). They like the weather, job, opportunities, the USD buying power, and their friends, among many other things, but it just feels excessively risky to them dealing with the combinations of these things. I can completely understand why they and others might want to leave the US.

If it is at all true that foreign students are going to the food banks to get food then what the heck are they doing coming here. The food bank shouldn't be abused like this . And then they say that they should not come to Canada to get education. If they can't afford to come here then get an education else where . The food banks are for Canadians first and it is getting harder to feed the rising need for those Canadians. Using a system that was not set up for foreign students is not right. What next. Tuition free housing free. Do it on line and stay away.

You need atleast a million dollars to buy a house...if you go with mortgage lets say you need 700k cash.... adding let say 50 k for emergencies that makes it 750k ...who the hell would come to canada with that money and start fresh? Housing, taxes, insurance, inflation, low paying jobs and freezing temperatures it all adds up.....
