Canada wants permanent immigrants, not temporary workers, and makes it harder to hire foreign workers by requiring companies to apply for LMIA that takes months to be approved, if approved. The US (and most other countries) wants the opposite, and as soon as you are no longer necessary they kick you out. This gives visa holders a disadvantage related to other workers in the same industry since they are tied to an employer and can't just quit. In fact, they are at a mercy of the employer and are likely to work harder for a lower salary. Yeah, their average pay is higher than the country average, but it is still lower than other workers with the same skills.

No never nada …Canada is beautiful. The gun culture in the U.S. is insane along with the refusal to create a health care system that protects everyone, rich or poor. Our education system in Canada is superior to that of your country. Our political system is superior to that of your country and although there are some loopholes that need attention, we on the whole can not be bought. I live in a province that wants to emulate your culture and I find it repulsive. There are amazing people in your country but the minority of misfits give you a huge black eye. My Grandpa was born in New England and one day, when sanity becomes the norm, I want to visit his birth place.

Yes, American citizens need to be taken care of first before we let any more people into the country, but let's keep thinking about this... Why are so many people trying to escape Venezuela? Could it possibly be the cripplingly sanctions the US has imposed on Venezuela for decades? If you are someone saying Mexico needs to fix itself, just remember that they have the one of the worst neighbors ever. We have no problem giving Israel $3 billion every year and sending our military all over the world to bring democracy to people who never wanted it, but our neighbors to the south? Fuck em. As a comedian I can tell you we literally have everything that you said you have in the United States so you're not exactly giving any incentives for any of us to want to go there all I see is nothing but mass shootings murder drugs and crazy insane presidents so no thanks I'm not going.

Also, total no. I love spending weekends in Boston, it's a great city with a good mix of sport and culture. I know some urban centers are more liberal, but as many mentioned I cannot live in a place that gives so much importance to guns, religion, moral conservatism and Marjorie Taylor Green. We do have nut jobs in Canadian politic, but nothing remotely close. Also, I did find an article from May 26, 2023 that said there were 200 mass shootings across the US so far this year. I also hate the culture war in the US where everything become political (like LGBT rights, climate change or even biking). Worst part is that I'm considered conservative in Canada. I understand that there are nice people everywhere, even in the bible belt, and I would enjoy sharing a BBQ with them, but do I really want to raise children around people that believe that the Bible is more important than human rights and women freedom of choice with their body?

I like visiting the U.S. on occasion. There are some very nice state parks and natural wonders. I like that both our countries all drive on the same side of the road. I like that we all speak English. So it's easy to get around. People in the U.S. are generally very nice if you stay away from densely populated places. But playing roulette on the healthcare is already enough to dissuade me. Then there is the (lack of) gun control. I am adventurous. I do love to travel. But I never want to give up my glorious Canadian lifestyle. Even with its flaws, I am not convinced anywhere else is better.

Plus have you seen the way Canadians have socialized systems that give us a high quality of life. So many American's talk about the healthcare they get through their work, but what if you're boss starts treating you badly? A lot of people are doing jobs that they hate only because it gives them healthcare. You might want to start you're own business but you can't because you need the healthcare. And then there is the possibility that you like the healthcare you get through work, then you're boss gets a better deal on healthcare and changes providers. You have no say in that and you could loose some of you're benefits. You're health should not be a carrot that you're employers can dangle in front of you to control you.

Most of these responses seemed to be from left-leaning people in Canada. British Columbia is NDP, socialist leaning, in other words. I'm from Alberta. We recently had an election here and made it abundantly clear we do not want the NDP running our province. We have a gun culture here and won't give up our arms. So I want more clarity on this, tho I'm yet to be married, but we ( Future hubby and I) planned on getting legally hitched before we enter the pool, so I calculated the score based on his age and working experience. For the NOC, does it have to be in a particular field or general working experience. He was once a teacher ( about 4 years or more experience and now he as switched I to Telecommunications. He has 2 and half yrs of experience in the telecomms field, and also do I need to evaluate my cert( ond and hnd) or he can evaluate only his bsc when we both write IELTS to give more score.
