That is a obvious thing that if you are doing good in your home country then why would you leave it? Why for your children? If you can do good then why cannot your children do good as well. There is something wrong in your home country that is why you fear that your children won't be able to do good their. People now days think after moving to a new country they should be able to live the same way and work at same position within 2-5 years on what position they were working in their home country. Which was never the case before. People who came in 70s,80s,90s it took them close to a decade and for many even more to reach some form of stability and it is the same now. You are starting from scratch when you move to a new place. \nComing here, making a life here, still living here and praising your life back home is not the solution. The solution is if you do not like it here you are have your home country to always go to. Simple.

I wonder if the reason so many in so many places believe that medical care is a problem is actually a matter of expectations. I know that in the 90s, my little town in Kansas had as many imaging machines as the entire country of Canada, but Canadians were certain they had superior medical care, as did the English. Expectations.\nEven then, if something was so bad that only a silver bullet treatment would possibly help, they still send patients to the USA because they are not equipped to help. Quiet management.\nBut basic medical, especially if you don't have much money, was traditionally better in England. I don't think Canadians had choices, but the functional reality was similarly better than in the States. Expectations.\nFor some time, Americans have had a sense that miracles are practical things that happen all the time, just pull out all the stops to keep grandma in agony another week. This has been reinforced by the civil courts. It is dangerous to be a doctor who does not recommend EVERYTHING be done to prolong life, even miserable life. Insane expectations that waste a lot of money. \nBut basic medical? Just shut up and go to work. Expectations.\nA century ago, there were no significant differences in expectations amongst developed countries because the expectations, based on the technologies of the day, were the same. Plus, there was only so much that could be done, so the total costs of everything were predictable and could be paid for publicly or privately less angst or disappointment. Expectations.\nWhen the technologies change like they have been in medicine in this century, it's good guess that so do expectations. It's also a good bet that there is a mismatch between expectations and available resources. Broken system.

As a European who lived for 3 years in Canada, I have to say that Canadians - as much as I love them - are very entitled. They live in a bubble and don't realise how good they have it. \n\nTheir country is beautiful, the lifestyle is phenomenal even if you aren't rich. A lot of things they complain about like rising house prices, food costs, and political divide is literally happening everywhere - I'm really not sure why they think only Canada is struggling with this right now. Perhaps because on their strong currency they can go and live like Kings in somewhere like Portugal or Bali, but then they don't realise that they are bringing over the cost of living crisis and making things harder for locals when they do that. \n\nThey want things to be perfect, which isn't something to discourage but they don't realise how much harder life is like in most other countries on the planet. The only ones who appreciated it were the people who had lived for a few years in the UK or Paris or Australia, or somewhere else they imagined that life was easier and then ended up actually miserable and actually struggling - and then soon fly back to Canada. I have to say though I do love the sense of always wanting things to be better, whilst in Europe we tend to accept having less, less options and struggle to the extent that we don't even see it as struggle.

Canadian health care is good for the basic things but if the poop hits the fan and your condition is more serious America with insurance wins. If they diagnose you with a tumor in let's say May the give you a prescription to slow it's growth and maybe they can pencil you in for October to remove it (real story). These problems have gotten a lot worse in the last 8 years. I think the main issue is immigration. We are bringing in more people than what we can deal with. I am not against immigration, but just like all the other things the current federal government has done, they are doing immigration wrong. They think immigration is good, so tthey open the hose fully to bring in as many as possible. This is a bad strategy. They should be bringing in a lot less immigrants and that would lessen the housing issues. I think that this is destabilizing our economy to the point where it could have a dire outlook on Canada. I wouldn't be surprised if some provinces leave confederation. What we need is a balanced approach to all things governmental. Not a LEFT or RIGHT solution, a BALANCED CENTRIC solution. Time to vote differntly.

As Brit who emigrated to Canada 30 years this is not new. When i moved here in 1993, my Canadian friends were complaining about how bad things were. It's good and normal when citizens don't just accept the status quo. Living 30 miles from the US, I can tell you that it's av wonderful place to live and raise a family.

Honestly it sucks for Canada.. I mean this country has probably everything any country could wish for. From surface to ressources to access on both side to the two main oceans, having a border with the first world power (it can be a problem but a good thing as well) and while climate isn't always the best, it should he a paradise living there.\nAs a French with what I believe is the best and most generous medical service in the world, to think that Canada spends MORE than us and have it a lot worse is crazy.. How did they manage that? France isn't renown for its efficiency..\n\nOne thing not mentioned though in the video which I find even worse than all of that, is how Canada slowly slipped down in freedom status.. More than any other country!\nCanada lost 6 spots in a single year in the human freedom index and got kicked out of the top 10 to land at the 13th spot.. Born in Canada, I left Canada 10 years ago for SE Asia. Canadian Salary was good but after Tax and poor exchange rate, Purchasing power is no good, Work life balance feels like slavary. Weather is harsh. I wouldn't want my kids exposed to the school and social system. \n\nSocial justice and westeren guilt has gone wild.\n\nAlot of people seemed unhappy.\n\nMarriage laws made me SWARE to stay single / Marry abroad.\n\nThere are however plenty of good things about Canada too of course.\n\nI may return if we get a sensable goverment someday.

Lack of housing and increased cost of living that is exceeding income growth seems to be a problem in many first world countries. In Canada we need to cool immigration until we have caught up with the housing needs of the people already here so its a good thing that people don't want to come here.

I came to Canada over 20 years ago. My own thoughts are that Vancouver is a place where people tend to immigrate and often stay in their own ethnic groups. Particularly Chinese and HK people. I live in a part of Vancouver that is now almost all Chinese and HK people and they mostly don't speak English, and I don't speak Cantonese or Mandarin except for a few words, so we'll never know anything about each other. So, you write off ever knowing your neighbors'. Also the people born in Canada or who came here as small children and went through school together, particularly high school tend to have friend groups that are exclusive to them and it's hard to get past that you aren't one of the 'original' group members. Also, it's dark and rainy here for a good 5 months of the year and there is absolutely nothing going on outside that you can just casually go and do. There's skiing and things, but if you are from a country that has busy street life and street food and night markets, here is the opposite.. go outside in December in the dark and rain and see almost nobody and if you do they probably will just look at the floor. My friends are mostly other immigrants, and that's cool! But for me Canada has been a success financially and a bust socially. I'm fortunate that I bought my house 15 years ago, but if I had to pay the ridiculous rent that people have to pay, on top of the boring social life here I'd be gone from here !

I had the opportunity to visit Toronto this past September. The trip began with Canada Air cancelling my flight, causing me to arrive at 1:30am the next day rather than 7pm the same day. Then couldn't get my cell phone to work although it works in every other country I've visited. Finally finding a hotel, it took me and my host (who is from Toronto) over half and hour to find the entrance because of the hotel's reconstruction and no signs. I had always thought of Canada as US-lite: all the good things without our problems. I quickly realized that it was like being in a third world country with flashy buildings. My hosts were looking for a way to get out as soon as possible.

Rent will keep increasing as there is no competitive market. as many of the people in Canada are already operating carousel tax fraud. Look that up on W5 and Canada is doing nothing to stop this, guess where all the ones at the top of that carousel are from? As long as there are ones operating illegal business earning more than the average hard worker being able to afford higher rent the rent will not be decreased but keep going up. Saying that they are bringing in mostly younger people is a lie too, they bring in everyone. That our workers are aging out and there will be nobody to do the work. Let's think about this clearly, as the population grows we need more businesses, more schools, more produce etc... Fact we need the same amount of business for a community based on the size of the community I would think. In the 1800's a small school house was sufficient, a local convenience store was enough with a mail order catalogue etc.. As population grows you need more. We also now have self check outs etc.. We are cutting down Canadas number one resource trees to make way for more and more roads etc.. Having to spend more to change and widen roads, feed these refugees, support them till they get situated, house them for how long, educate, train them, and then hope they can actually adapt and not hate us etc.. Look around the world and not just in our own back yards i.e. what happened in NY today, look at Britain afraid to put up Merry Christmas not to offend or any Christian monuments. Yet we have to tolerate. hmmm As said before I am neither Christian nor Jewish I am Natsarim and view those things as pagan myself but feel this world is going down the wrong path and nobody should have to cave in for the sake of others. I will stand with the Christian and I will stand with anyone that I feel are being made to turn over their ways for the sake of others and have their economy shattered in so many ways. Ask yourself what is your government really doing to protect you on so many levels? Many also come here only to study or take loans and then spend all that money they borrow and then leave, banks offer them special incentives with with welcome to Canada packages and they use it all up, buy goods, then sell them and leave. I read that it really is a problem and some have posted on quora if I owe canada money will I be arrested if I return or what will they do to me. It was quite a high amount on a special credit card he obtained that he maxed out shopping and then selling the goods. Now I know many can do that sort of thing and some by mistake, but those that have no intent to stay... The point is what is being done to protect us from purposeful frauds.

Canada and Australia have so much in common incl. genocidal monarchs as national heads except for the weather i.e., snow vs desert/temperate grassland. As an Aussie, I’ve lived most of my life in Australia — I was making Au$200,000/yr and my partner is an ICU nurse who made around Au$100,000/yr — and by my standards our life was average in real terms although most (ignorant) Aussies would say we had a great life. Thing is, most Aussies (and Canadians) haven’t experienced anything better whereas I have lived and worked in four countries and my partner has lived and worked in three — we appreciate good living standards and I’ve noticed that most Canadians and Aussies don’t even know what we mean when we talk about such things. Anyway we permanently moved to the US this year because I’m also American — now finally we can start a family!

They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, xenophobic people, too depressing. My friends, multiculturalism simply does not work. Different cultures do not come together and mix, different cultures come together and clash. Good solid takes on life in Canada as it stands in the larger cities. My family immigrated in the late 80s when I was a young child to YYZ and the housing prices and quality of living was really solid back then. We moved to YVR in the late 90s and prices seemed to be pretty stable as well. Think things started to change shortly after my undergrad years in the mid 2000s. Unfortunately, the government wanted to increase immigration which is great, but forgot to build out the transportation infrastructure and develop the health care system properly. Foreign credential recognition is really the biggest bottleneck for newcomers. Newcomer employment expectations and what is available to them is not really matching up, I know this first hand as I've worked in the employment enabling sector. Weather as you mentioned is subjective, I prefer the cold, clean crisp air here in Canada, I don't do well in the hot humid polluted weather in most East and Southeast Asian countries. Crime has definitely been on the rise as many people around me have had personal experiences with this topic. Finally housing, to live comfortably in YVR a family income of 150K is probably bare minimum these days.

At the end of the day we are all trying to improve our lives. Some will make it further than others. In the grand scheme of things Canada is not that bad at all. You can do a video like this for any G20 country and you will find good reasons. What's important is we have choices and we can choose. Many do not have that privilege.

You have tried to explain very well the initial struggle faced by new immigrants. This does take years and sometimes decades to settle down properly in a new country for first generation. First generation Indians try to save as much as they can while cutting corners. Things have relatively become much easier as there are plenty of jobs for those who have professional degrees and substantial experience. I personally found Canadian bachelor of engineering was far superior than masters of computer science in USA. I enjoyed spending four years in downtown Toronto while full time studying in late 80’s before moving back to USA. Someone else mentioned here in previous thread that all of their friends are much better off in India. I feel more or less the same way in spite of having three engineering degrees and 40 years experience. I am strong believer in Karmas, your destiny will take you where you’re supposed to be. Everybody knows that you have to do all the work yourself,no maids, cooks, etc. like India.These facts have been there for years, nothing new about them. If people want to got there for further education, it is different, but then Canada is not all that good as far as higher education is concerned, there are better countries to choose from with better weather conditions and better lifestyle and high class education. Who would want to live in a cold and inhospitable country, payig through your nose. Here in India, if we fall sick even with just cough / cold, we can go to the nearest doctor and get medicines, sometimes we can even just ask the pharmaists to help us to choose some medicines for pharmasist here are half doctors.\nEven our standard of living has become so good, that we don't even feel like shifting to a new country. We have metros, good buses both AC as well as non AC, good trains, good resturaunts, hotels, what is it that we don't have here?\nIt is always better living as a first class citizen in our own country, than living like second class citizen elsewhere. The attraction and the charm of living abroad is no longer there.\nOur country has improved so much and so fast in the last 10 years, we have good bathrooms in schools and other public places, which was not there previously. Only drawback in our country is the traffic and infrastructure, which will also become better, but will take time, because of our country's population.\nIn fact you will find servants and watchmen all coming to work in a bikes or scooters, which was unthinkable some years back. Their life has changed for the better, they live in rented flats/or on lease, their children study in good schools and so on, and they dress also so well, that you cannot differentiate between them and the people they work for.\nMany of the so called advanced countries do not have many well educated people like our country, the children there are not as knowledgeabe like Indian kids, their knowledge is limited to the town they live in, they don't know anything about the world outside.\nAnd now with the Khalistani terrorist living freely there it is all the more dangerous. Nice video. If you are moving to any western /developed country, you need to be able to do things by yourself. If you are someone who prefers domestic helps, cook etc. Then believe me, these countries are not for you. The key is to understand what is priority for you in life. If it is cleanliness, safety, good infrastructure, health care, children education and their future, then go for it. If you are the lazy kinds who prefers luxury and rely on others to do daily household chores, very attached to friends, relatives, enjoy going out and eating in Indian restaurants, not ready to be patient and willing to slog for the initial few years then any of these developed countries is not for you. Entirely depends on what are your priorities in life are.\nAgain these countries are good for the tradies - electricians, mechanics, plumbers etc. These guys can make a fortune here. So, for all those tradies whose priority is to earn money, yes these countries are good for you.

The USA is good if you’re willing to overwork to make money… you will basically work work work and that’s not a good life. I recommend USA if you are young and want to flex in the future. I work every day in America and I’m not missing anything but I feel like a slave honestly. Canada is good for foreigners that are trying to get PR and a Citizenship from a western country quick because Canada needs a lot of immigrants due to its size. Canada is not good to live because it’s just so damn cold and housing costs too much. Europe is good if you’re trying to be lazy because the government likes to give money and health insurance is free but it’s hard getting PR and Citizenship. In Europe the income is very low on average compared to the US but the reason is cause there’s just so much overtime available in the USA and things are more 24/7. Europe is better to start a family and safety security…. But you will be giving up working super hard in the USA to make good amount of money…. Pick your poison. I recommend going to Canada to acquiere a Citizenship quick then go to USA and work like a slave with a lot of overtime for 10-15 years and before your 40-55 years old you move to Europe…

1) Toronto is poor value. Getting housing of any kind (buying or renting) is stupidly expensive. And the quality you get for the price is lousy. Especially the newer builds, which are just thrown up as quickly as possible and sold to investors. Policy measures generally all seem to serve to just inflate the price of housing further. The occasional lip service given to affordability is amusing, but ultimately sad. There are lots of people who really do not want the housing bubble to pop. They will fight against it with all they have.\n\n2) It has become kind of boring. There is lots to do if you have money, but it’s harder to find entertainment on a budget. Even the free stuff like parks are filling up. Stuff like sporting events, eating out, going out is very costly across the board. Even the “cheaper” stuff is expensive. It seems like a lot of local culture is disappearing. Even the cool neighbourhoods are filling up with the same chains. I think the high commercial rent and bureaucracy is deflating a lot of would-be entrepreneurs. Most landowners seem to just be banking on cashing out their land for condos.\n\n3) Canada overall has a high cost of living compared to salaries. In the US you can find lower cost of living areas that still give you a real city experience. And in Europe you can be poor but still live a decent, if no frills, life. In Canada the basic necessities are all expensive. Phone bills, grocery bills, rent, insurance are through the roof. Domestic travel is expensive. And the dollar sucks if you want to travel abroad. Health care is free but good luck finding a family doctor or waiting 8 hours in the ER these days. It’s expensive to be poor, or even middle class.\n\n4) Most of the Greater Toronto Area, outside the core, is soulless suburbs with awful transit - very “American” except with worse traffic congestion. You will need a car, which is another huge cost. Row upon row of old cookie cutter suburbs with the same crappy houses. Good luck walking anywhere, and if you do you will need to walk down boring, treeless arterial roads with cars zooming past right beside you, and cross giant eight lane intersections that were never built for humans on foot. In a rainstorm or on a fall evening you have to be really careful not to be run over by aggressive drivers.\n\n5) It is hard to raise a family in an apartment here. You can do it but it’s not very easy, and also you are still kind of judged for it. Lots of young people are feeling stuck and are deferring or avoiding starting a family. Buying any type of house, even a basic townhouse, requires pledging your soul to a bank by taking a massive mortgage with eye watering debt in a volatile market. But few apartment buildings have the kind of sensible gentle density, the family unit sizes and the common amenities, like little courtyards with jungle gyms, that you might find in Europe. No one ever contemplated that anyone would ever desire to raise kids in an apartment. It’s just a cultural thing that has worked its way into how things are planned and designed.\n\n6) The transit system is ok by North American standards but awful by international standards. There are only two real subway lines, one stub line, one line that is permanently out of service after a derailment, and another line that was supposed to open a couple years ago but still has no date for opening. The subways go out of service frequently, sometimes for the dumbest reasons, and then it is a zoo of shuttle buses. The streetcars are nice but so slow. The buses are fine if you find yourself dreaming about riding a daily herky jerky rolling tin of sardines. They are building a lot of transit but it will take decades to get done.\n\n7) There is still a lot of cool multiculturalism and opportunities to experience different foods and cultures - one of the best things about Toronto. Increasingly though it seems to be losing the fun vibe of the 90s, when everyone celebrated each other’s backgrounds and was chill. It seems the immigration is not as broad based anymore and also people are importing a lot of their “old country” grievances here. The immigration system also kind of preys on people abroad by selling them a false fairy tale, so they end up dejected when they arrive and see how things really are.\n\n8) This one might be controversial but it’s kind of an ugly city. There’s nothing particularly of historical meaning or value. Some of the older neighbourhoods are kind of nice, but the last 25 years they have only built giant glass skyboxes, one after another. There aren’t the cool “missing middle” walkups like in NY, Chicago or Montreal (or even LA). There are very few buildings with much architectural character. Some of the buildings they deem “heritage” here are an embarrassment.\n\n9) For safety, honestly on this score I think Toronto is not bad. There are not too many real “ghettos” and it’s night and day compared to much of the US. With that said, there is more vagrancy and social issues these days, with tents and such. It’s very sad but the shelters are full, lots of homeless go into the libraries, parks and transit system. It does make it harder to enjoy these public amenities safely. It is nowhere close to Europe where you might let your kids run free around town. Canadian parents still helicopter their kids and the place again is not designed to really be safe for kids, in the same way as Europe.\n\n10) Finally, a bit of a double edged sword. Toronto had a lot of youthful energy - people coming here from all over. It is definitely not as sleepy as many parts of the world. With that said, it is becoming a bit of a transient place (minus the world class experiences like London or NY). If you are from elsewhere you might find it hard making and keeping friends. I’ve seen lots of people struggle because it’s is hard to build a strong social network. We have a very “shallow” culture here - people are extremely polite but not overly warm and hospitable. We treat one another kind of like neighbours - meaning we’d like to have a cordial, drama-free coexistence and otherwise kind of stick to ourselves.

... And here is why:\n1. Insanely expensive housing with next to none disposable income left in the pocket. \n2. Inability to get into the real estate market unless $$$ was brought in as an investment. This will leave locals and people who were born in Canada left out for good even further. \n3. Extremely competitive job market. Newcomers will have to suffer for a long time to break-in. \n4. Depression and drug addiction is everywhere. It's more deadly than covid but the government can't address the problem because they lose control for good. \n5. Canada is far away from many other places, which makes things worse as you feel trapped in a workcamp with no place to escape. \n6. The cost of living is getting much faster with the salaries significantly behind year after year. \n7. Canada became the country of failed government, failed multiculturalism, too tolerant as a result. \n8. Retirement in Canada will be impossible for 95% unless you agree to live in the middle of the nowhere until depression kills you. \n9. Many who came to Canada 25+ years ago and still around felt trapped. Canada's source of immigration will likely be the poorest communities who will agree to put up with everything listed above just to get out of where they live right now. \n10. Sad, but true. I have seen a steady decline in Canada since 1998. Things get worse every year.\nAmen to that. I'll be visiting Lviv in 2025 for the first time since 2000 to check on my apartment in the city centre, not far from my Alma Mater LPI. I THANK GOD every day I didn't sell it and so I have a place for retirement!

You know. You jist echoed my views about Australia. Australia is exactly same. Not even a single thing,i find anything good.Even Universities are not good as they dont even teach . Teaching ka concept hi nahi hai. Worst part is Indians in these countries get offensuve when speak about the hardships. Matlab,fact toh yehi hai.unnecessarily kitna hype karte hain apne log aur kitna show off..omg! ..only safety for women is good. N i cud send kids to school in India too. We had bus, vans etc....what also you dont know is if there is no signal,then the drivers just drive over anyone,even kids,they dont care. All they care is only the signal. N all the food quality is hybrid..v v bad for health...no wonder ppl get cancers easily..

Until humans learn to be good without religion, we will keep abusing it for evil. This is why we all should find our own spirituality, regardless what preachers of religious institutions say to divide and further their own powergreedy agenda. Money and forcing others to do things against their will has no place in spiritual spaces. And until we learn to be inherently good without anyone tellin us to, we will not better this world. Housing costs,inflation are not just a Canadian issue. I am old enough to remember when interest rates went through the roof in the 80's and people lost their homes, and jobs were hard to come by including for my family. But things got better and they will again. For those who came here and were welcomed into the Country, and now want to leave, its probably for the best,for them and for the Country, They were not happy in their home Country, moved here,now are not happy here and want to move again. My parents were immigrants,they stuck it out through the good and the bad.

I know a lot from working all over canada and they come for the free money and health care and school, as soon at they are legal canadians every single one I know/knew left because they don't want to pay the high tax and cost of living, 1 guy I was friends with for a year showed me what he got to come here and it was = to 10 years pay for me at that time. Then he sold the house and cars and left after his temp visa expired, I know of people in AB and on the east coast working here and living 5 and 6 guys in a 3 bedroom and they send every cent back to their own country so they can buy land and housing, For them it's a great get rich quick plan, The one guy I knew for a year offered to pay to have my car fixed and I said no but he insisted it was free on his free tax payer supplied credit cards, If I was not from here and they offered me all this money and stuff Id be here doing the same thing, 5 years here makes you rich when you go home. 2 bedroom condo in Mexico is $85g so if I offered you a good job that will get you a house paid off and lifetime of saving in just 5 years but you have to live in another country would you do it. 100% I would Im looking at my adult kids who will never own a home if they stay here vs the people coming over for 5 years then their set, All my kids are planning to move to a new country for this very reason they are saving and then getting out when the depression hits.

I am 10th generation Canadian and plan on leaving one day too just not sure when and where to go. Affordability is not good, no special things for the long term generations that their whole family grew up here, nothing with banks, nothing with education, nothing to advance careers for myself or my children, non allied people getting in. I remember when there was stricter immigration laws. I remember when one man could support a whole family. I remember when citizens would walk on one side of the street and allow others to pass on the opposite side walking from the other direction on the streets as well as in the stores, when people had more courtesy. I remember when people could joke and not get offended, when people would stand up for one another. When a community was a community. When you could be Christian and not considered offensive. When it was safe to say bless you and not be told to shove it etc... when you did not have to witness riots on the streets and a people divided and it was not believers and non believers either as the non believers would still be peaceful in the past. It is much more than that now. Now it is you are white and racist, which I am far from but have been accused and am very baffled at that statement because never in my life would I in the past ever be accused of that. I am now like, wow what am I witnessing? I just feel something much greater is going to come, but not knowing when. ONe thing I fear is there will be an all out war and it will be whites or Christians being the target one day.

Canada is not perfect and it has its ups and downs. As a Canadian, I still stand with my head up high and say I love this land of my birth, and I know there are many beautiful places in the world but there is none like home. Many have abused the system here, and play a major role in high crimes, high housing costs, and lack of stability. Like an ungrateful child, they forget the good things.

Canada is good for only one thing: the passport, which can get you into better countries

I think this is a good thing, too many over too short a period of time has left our health care system in tatters and the housing market exploding so ordinary Canadians are suffering. Go back and work in your own country.

This is a good thing.....maybe all the taxes we pay for these social services might go somewhere and do something for CANADIANS........

We have enough people as is. The problem isnt that we aren’t welcoming, but that our govt thinks its a good thing to bring in millions of people with no place to live and drive up housing costs.
