I`m Canadian, and did move to the USA, then moved back to Canada. Americans are Taxed on every dollar they earn, most states have to pay Fed an State tax, Health Care cost is way to high, when they economy goods bad, it goes south really fast. America tax on avg 22%, Canada 15%, America state tax 5.75%, Canada 0%, America sales tax 7.4%, Canada 7% plus 5% GST, however you get the GST back when you file you`re taxes. The 1 thing I really like were the people, made some very good friends but, they are not very educated, most people don`t leave they`re state, because they can see the world on TV, so why travel, as I was told.

There was a time I would have. My father and Grandfather grew up in New York city as children and spoke highly of the States. Since 2016 I would seriously not consider living there. The gun violence that occurs their has gotten to the point that it has to be especially eggregious before it makes the news. The cavalier attitude towards guns and gun saftey is disturbing even from your politicians. it would be a recipe for loosing your privalege to own a firearm in Canada if you did what many of us see americans do with their guns. Open carry. Not allowed. Concealed carry. Not allowed. There are courses you need to take and pass on firearm saftey and gun use here, before you are given the privaledge of owning a firearm. Those firearms need to be stored properly or carried in cases at all times when not in use \n\nThat being said I have done those courses and I own guns. Rifles to be precise and a shot gun I use for hunting food. Pistols are not easy to get here and you can only use them on a range. The only people legally carrying pistols in public are the police.\n\nHealthcare is fine if you are young and healthy, with a job. If i showed up at 53 with a handfull of pre-existing conditions, I would be in bad shape.\n\nYour record on lgbtq+ and a woman's right to bodily autonomy is back slipping to the 1950's. Some politcians (not sure what level, state or federal) are looking to even reverse the position on interracial marriages for pete sake.\n\nI think if Voter appathy is allowed to continue, the vocal minority of people who want this will get their way despite the fact that the polls suggest the majority of americans hate what is happening

I live in Canada (Quebec), and I dont think I would move to the US, not even sure I want to visit...\nAnd the thing is, if you would have asked me maybe 20 years ago, I would have loved to live there, in NY even.\nMind you, I dont have any firm confirmation of how it is, but if we listen to the media, it seems like simply walking in NY is risky, thieves and mentaly ill people at every corner. What I'm getting at is that the picture drawn by the medias is one of complete insecurity, dirty and almost evil place, fill with mostly good people, but surrounded by madness left unchecked (sorry for my bad english, still learning).

So as a Canadian, you don’t quite have the perspective that we do from up here, the batshit-crazy political mess is from coast to coast, everywhere I’ve seen from the US, from local politics up through to federal politics they all skew to support crony capitalism (by comparison), accept religious Christian (or Mormon) fundamentalism, and generally are extremely undemocratic by comparison to what we are used to here in Canada. Don’t get me wrong, we definitely have our faults, but it’s everywhere in the US and a whole order of magnitude or more. Up here it’s bad enough we have to deal with the blowback and seepage of some of these bat-shit crazy views like the anti-abortion issue , extreme gun rights, science denialism, and anti-LGBTQ2+ nut jobs.

As a Canadian, the feelings I get watching the what is happening in the US now, is the same feelings people get watching TLC shows. It makes us feel better about ourselves. We may not be perfect, and may have our flaws, but at least we aren't as bad as them.

Also, what about the people that live in the 'bad' parts of the Country - it isn't like a lot of them have the choices or opportunities to move. \n\nI will say your openness to questioning your biases is refreshing. I'm sure there are places in the USA where I could be happy. You need to consider though that as an foreign worker, the opportunities are in the large centers. You'd have to tough it out in a big city for a while until you could get established, then you could move somewhere more desirable. I had an opportunity a long time ago to work in silicon valley. The pay raise was unthinkable and I was certainly tempted. Then I did the math, it is an extremely expensive place to live, or at least it was at the time. When it was all said and done I would have about the same quality of life (however in a desert, no snow, yay!). I would be thousands of miles from my family and have pretty serious job insecurity. Without citizenship, it could get bad real fast. So it just wouldn't be worth it. Now I'm older and there just no way... Not happening.

You forget that good year bad year lately, there are more children killed by gun than any other type of citizens. Canada did get its share of gun killing, not really a spree as in US. but guns licences got deal heavily because of that. Canadian society is lived mostly by social democracy. Republican MAGA and conservatism exist, but they are still low impact for now.

Well, as a Canadian, I guess i'll pitch in.\nWould I move to the US? The short answer is no. But I will explain more in detail.\n\nFirst, I do not see any advantages to the US compared to Canada. Americams often tout their country as the beacon of freedom and the land of opportunities, but I don't feel that Canada is so different there. We're actually higher on the world freedom index, and its not like our economy was in shambles and everyone dirt poor... We pay more taxes, fine, but we also get more services in return, and that last part has the advantage to remove a big layer of worry. Like, for healthcare, I don't have to worry if i'm covered by insurance or not, or if the insurance carrier will drop me on some technicality. I'm a citizen. All the basic needs are covered; no questions asked (and the healthcare quality is not half bad. We just prioritize urgent cases over non-urgent; so if you go to the hospital for something non-urgent, you will wait, and more urgent cases will pass before you. Annoying when it happens, but I understand and agree with that in the end)\n\nSecond, I do see a lot of disadvantages. All the points raised in the video are valid, from the private-sector healthcare system, the gun control laws (or lack thereof), the social policies and legislation in some states; they don't agree with me.\n\nI think it comes down to some specific social and cultural ideas that are prevalent or at least present in a substantial manner in the american society. Bear in mind that I am generalizing here, not every american believes these points, but many do. I'm talking about ego, nationalism/patriotism, secularism etc.\nI feel that the US often has a really overinflated vision of itself. Like, the idea that America is the best. At everything. Wich is factually not true, but this idea also poisons the debate on many issues, and tends to limit social introspection that could lead to real advances.\n\nI've also noticed that the american basic school system is strongly patriotic. Everyone in the US is taught a lot about the US themselves in school, but not much about the rest of the world. Not great for open mindedness and introspection when you have little comparison points.\n\nAndlets not delve into the religious aspect. I've seen a poll somewhere where 48% of americans were AGAINST the separation of church and state. For me thats not only insane, its dangerous. It fits the individualistic mentality where people can more easily start thinking that their way is THE way. It creates a very polarized society much more prone to high volatility.\n\nSo, yeah, no, I wouldn't live in the US. I'd much rather stay in Canada where i don't have to worry if I get sick or hurt, if some agressive drunk idiot in a bar is armed, or if some fundamentalists from some religious congregation is gonna be able to try to politically force their point of view.

Generally the northern and western states I might consider moving to but certainly not the southern and eastern states. The closer you get to Florida, the bat shit crazier it gets. However health care makes it a non starter. Too bad because there are some beautiful places in the US.

So many American's talk about the healthcare they get through their work, but what if you're boss starts treating you badly? A lot of people are doing jobs that they hate only because it gives them healthcare. You might want to start you're own business but you can't because you need the healthcare. And then there is the possibility that you like the healthcare you get through work, then you're boss gets a better deal on healthcare and changes providers. You have no say in that and you could loose some of you're benefits. You're health should not be a carrot that you're employers can dangle in front of you to control you.

I see this done a lot but there's a big difference between correlation and causation. Your Rbc example shows the top people all white, including women I may add. It's very ingenuous to claim racism based purely on who has risen to the top. For everyone saying that they feel bad for these people and they just want to come and work and escape oppressive governments does not even understand that those reasons are irrelevant. If all these migrants where good people and there was enough space to house and feed them with burdening the tax payer great. But that's not reality, a lot of these people cross illegally, break into people's houses, rob, rape, kill, etc...If any of the media even bothered to go and interview anyone from the border towns and cities, they would realize how angry and frustrated they are, parents no longer send their children outside to play because some random people running through their yard steal and break into their houses, but this doesn't get reported on because it doesn't fit their narrative of these desperate migrants just want to work and live freely.

The health of a country, or the health of an individual which are clearly linked, is dependent on our ability to see ourselves and each other, and make necessary changes to improve in the areas that we lack personally, and as communities in our beautiful country of Canada and other countries as well. What matters is sharing our own thoughts, feelings, and experiences because they aren’t debatable. \n\nWe are in violation of Multiple Human Rights violations against Inuit , Indigenous and Métis people by the United Nations. Most have no water to drink—not even boiled water and bottled water is available sometimes when it’s brought to reservations . Children don’t have the same access to books. So many thousands of bodies of children taken to residential schools from their parents arms and community for over 160 years yet the deep wounds aren’t given compassion by most people anymore and systemic abuse actively impacts them and therefore all of Us . We are all one whether we see people as other’ or not. We’re humans. \n They’re not seen in media unless it’s a bad story yet we’re only now teaching one mandatory class by non indigenous people. Solution: elders teach their grandchildren languages that weren’t erased by genocide and environmental /spiritual cultural practices and lifestyles before they’re gone by paying first people elders and streaming it into all Canadian classrooms so the children can see a future where they’re valued and all Canadian kids can get a full education and learn accurate history. Making canoes, baskets, sacred ceremonies, food growing (that they taught to pilgrims so they’d survive here), etc. No, I’m not indigenous. I’m an immigrant like all but the first people. They’ve an amazing culture that’s been all but lost . When we don’t see ourselves represented in any media, any careers, and start our lives in extended poverty based on our race, and all that was taken still today, it’s no wonder the teen suicide rate for indigenous youth is more than double / triple all non - indigenous youth. The numbers are growing. \nI live in Care due to my physical disabilities . An international nursing student worked for me providing personal care like showers, meal prep etc and over that year, she said she wouldn’t have moved here specifically because of a few things I’ve mentioned. She told me Canada was sold to people in her country of origin as a ‘multicultural’ safe haven without extreme racism still prevalent today and within our history. \n\nI’m ashamed of Canadian government promises for over 100 years that aren’t fulfilled. All children deserve healthy drinking Water and an education. Period. Especially, the ambassadors of this amazing land that they see as themselves without separation. That’s accurate. You are overgeneralising when it comes to some sections of your healthcare segment. I work in the field in both rural Alberta and British Columbia and most of what you are saying is not the norm.  \n\nYou present two isolated cases of clearly questionable medical experiences. I don't know where you're from, but you will find good and bad doctors (as for any occupation in life frankly), anywhere - it is saddening that you are presenting this and viewers who are not clued up on the facts could interpret this as the norm.  \n\nFurthermore, communicating with your physician via email is considered to be not secure and private and physicians can get into malpractice issues for doing so. On the other hand, there are a number of secure patient communication platforms approved by the health ministries. With that being said, the adoption of the technology lies with individual physicians. There are success stories from the most rural parts of Canada where this is embraced. You are, once again, speaking very broadly which could be interpreted incorrectly as the norm. \n\nTo summarise: Yes, waitlists for doctors are long, but that is about the only universal truth in your segment. Calling up a few friends is certainly not research - a term that is used way too easily by creators and too easily accepted by their audiences.

Yea Mexico needs to do something. Unfortunately the cartels run the show down there. They have more equipment and weapons than the Mexican army. We need a wall.
