I'm sure the intent of this video was to be fun, buts as a Canadian I would like people to know that it's not always cold here. We have four seasons. Most of the population lives in cities that are near the border with the US and have very similar climates to the northern states below them. Please don't believe that you need to wear your toque (see what I did there) in the summer.

Canada has a very high cost of living. In Toronto or Vancouver,$1800/month rent for an average apartment, houses are at least $750,000 in a decent area. Cellphone and internet rates are among highest in world. Groceries and alcohol are expensive compared to US and UK. Extreme cold weather 5 months a year even in southern cities like Toronto. Spotty transit service compared to European and Asian cities. Much of the country is undeveloped because of extreme weather. Most Canadians live within 60 miles of the USA border.\n\nAdvantages of Canada : it is reasonably rich and technologically advanced. Free and democratic although not like the USA. Lots of open space outside large cities. And very quiet , peaceful but uneventful country.

I came to Canada as a student. Applied through to get my permanent residency. Improved my English, also learnt French. Worked multiple jobs... learned the Canadian way of life. Amalgamated myself into this wonderful country and it's even more awesome people... most importantly always paid my taxes and never been on EI... now your telling me I should have just walked across the border and within 12 hours I would have received refugee status... phewww that's a blow out

what makes these people more important than the people trying to seek asylum the proper way. Im sorry but as a Canadian I am beyond confused why we don't turn these people away at the border. there is a proper and improper way to seek asylum and this is not the way to do it

I’ve lived on both sides of the border (New York and Ottawa/Gatineau). I am white. And I’ve been pulled over on both sides wile I was driving and wile a black person was driving. I’ve seen scary difference between the interactions with the police. Though the US cops are a little more harsh to the black people the Canadians ones weren’t much better. If you deny that is happening in Canada your wrong. If you deny it’s happening in the US your wrong. It happens no matter what side of that imaginary line on. Be the change you wanna see. If your white use your privilege to promote change. And for everyone, go to protest (safety there is still a pandemic going on), sign petitions, vote and get involved with government. Both sides of the border have the chance to make things right, act now!

Racist Americans come at the border, and messed up canadian values

There’s a common saying which states that the difference between Canadians and Americans is that “while Americans side with their fellow citizens against the government, Canadians side with their government against their fellow citizens.” This is stereotype is the best explanation as to why Canada can’t see to develop a viable market economy or compete with other nations on innovations in STEM or the arts. The problem with Canada is that it never developed a culture outside of “not being American” and the result is that their government has been allowed to grow to an enormous size and basically strangle all of the talent out of the country. Canada, despite the fact that it’s an English speaking country on the North American continent, is virtually nothing like America is any sense of the term, and actually has more in common with Scandinavia than it does with the country that borders it’s south.

This is very scary! Unfortunately, we cannot close the border as essential food and medical supplies come from the US to fill our grocery stores and pharmacies! I AGREE that it is NOT RIGHT to let immigrants to cross the borders freely right now as the Prime Minster has said that only Canadians, permanent residents and diplomats are only allowed to return.

What the police don't do at a railway blockade (protect the Canadian public and public safety) they don't do at the border (protect the safety of Canadians). So, do the police work for Canadians or foreign controlled activist groups and the UN?

Wonderful reporting! I am a Canadian in Greece and finally the Greek government has realised they need to close their borders from the invasion of ILLEGAL MIGRANTS. It is like a war zone on the border now. You can learn from the Greek experience. It is destroying the islands where there are still 60000 illegals camped out. With the US air ban that should help in eliminating illegal border crossings. Plus it looks like the Canadian /US border will soon be shut down to non-essensial travel. So this and any other illegal border crossings must be shut down.

Maybe Canada, or a private citizen/group, should sue Clinton County of New York State for creating a health hazard for Canadians by allowing illegal immigrants to travel to the illegal border crossing. It might seem petty but it just might prompt some type of reaction.

Canadians can't trespass in facilities that they pay for with their own tax dollars, but illegals can trespass in our country and live off the taxpayer. It doesn't look like we have to obey the law. Gather up a bunch of protesters and put up a blockade around the border. We already learned from the pipeline protests and railroad blockades that the law means nothing. You won't get anywhere unless you fight fire with fire.

Hello, I just watched your video. Three years after you made it. I hope you are still with us and a very belated Welcome. Many people throughout the world seem to have so many stereotypes about Americans. Whether it is good or bad there typically is some truth in a stereotype. Overall it seems like you are enjoying yourself and no matter what there is no place like home. I would think no matter what your current situation is you still miss Canada as I would miss the United States if I were to move to Canada. \nA couple things you mentioned in the video were not correct and as with anything there may be a little truth in the matter but yet still incorrect.\nThose who do not have health insurance are not charged or taxed $150 monthly. There is a provision in the affordable care act (ACA) that penalizes certain individuals who make above a certain dollar amount. The amount is either $150 or $300 for the entire year. I concur any monetary penalty against anyone for not having health insurance is outrageous. I could be wrong but I believe this aspect of the ACA was never implemented under President Obama and it was indefinitely suspended or revoked by President Trump. I also feel like I need to address your thoughts about the United States all about war. I believe the American people are like most other people and want peace and civility. The government and major defense contractors have differing opinions at times. Of course there is plenty of people who are war hawks but they are in the minority. Most of us are absolutely sick of war. We currently have been at war for almost 19 years. That's six complete world war 2's in their entirety. \nI think you were being awfully generous when you said obesity is on par with the rest of the world!! Unfortunately there is far to many fat people here and the problem is only getting worse because the media says be happy and proud you are fat. Btw, Canadians in general are kind, brave, compassionate, and very civilized people. There may be some racists there, as there are anywhere, but when I visited Toronto all the Canadians were lovely. My family is multiracial and they treated us as normal human beings. Thanks to Canadian Border Patrol, which was so professional positive, and welcoming.

@The Fifth Estate: CBSA? You should clearly say what that is, for it isn't obvious. A search of Wikipedia turned up a page for what's surely meant, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_Border_Services_Agency. I know of Canadian border crossings (between Ca. and the US) so had normal exchanges with some customs officers, but I never knew the name of the agency (of the govt) that they worked for, so CBSA meant basically nothing to me. Otherwise, the overall report is fine, and such illegal immigration tactics must be stopped.

Lately, I met a Pakistani, who claimed that he cheated with the Canadian Immigration by getting into Canada with all fake certificates to do his MBA. And after entering Canada, he got a perfect job ( Based on his actual experience and education, i.e 8th class) to repair the doors and windows. Ottawa has to introduce tougher scrutiny of the credentials, before issuing any documents to such fraudulent people to enter the Canadian borders.

I grew up in BRAMALEA, now incorporated with Brampton. BRAMALEA was an idyllic community made up primarily of Brits, European, and African-Canadians. Then Justin’s Dad (Pierre) opened the floodgates of immigration in the ‘70’s to ensure his re-election while transforming Canada into a Socialist Society (Socialized “Free” Health Care paid for by mammoth taxes on the middle class) while promoting “Multiculturalism” as the new Canadian Utopia. In his later years, while close to death, Pierre declared that “Multiculturalism DOESN’T WORK!” And, guess what? Neither does “Free” Healthcare!” As each culture swelled, they felt as though they didn’t need to assimilate. When I return to Canada/Brampton to visit family, I’m disgusted! The Indian residents (who Now comprise about 90% of BRAMLADESH’s population) do NOT look after their housing/property. The older/original neighborhoods where I grew up (well-cared for homes with manicured lawns, lush green-belts with pathways connecting neighborhoods and parks) now borders on slum-like conditions. It’s sad and downright depressing when I visit. All of my high school friends have fled the dilapidated area, and no wonder! Everyone should have access to legal aid. That's a given. There's no way to justify any of the other payments while Canadians are living below the poverty line and can't qualify for welfare. Our Veterans are waiting over a year for every application they make for services. Somebody has their priorities mixed up. And why aren't we prosecuting people who cross the border illegally? If I did it, I would be charged.
