When living in the USA in a small college town the scariest part of Halloween was the police in their riot gear for no reason at all. \nCame back to Canada with American husband and we both like it better.\nAlso if I was a Mom in the USA I would be terrified to send my child to school. Too many school shootings. In Canada we have ZERO school shootings.

Tyler there are 600 mass shootings in the U.S each year which is almost 2 a day per average and while they do not all take place in schools, how many mass shootings are tolerable? As long as Americans like yourself dismiss all the data to the contrary the U.S will continue to have the tragedies it does, When you look up mass shootings which is where there are more than 2 victims per incident you'll find Canada doesn't even register in those statistics because where the U.S has 600 mass shootings a year Canada hasn't had 600 in its last 100 years. So that is why Canadians mention school shootings as a reason, because the potential is real for it to happen. It is preventable tragedy but Americans as a whole need to want that change, until it does the rest of the world will always bring up gun violence and school shootings when the U.S is in the discussion. The U.S is great but it could be better. Stay blessed ??

Lots of problematic reasons. 1.. Labor shortages are temporary but immigration is permanent. 2.. Extraordinary lax in selection for students. One can easily gauge student quality by asking for common standardized scores available in India. Canada took in so many poor quality students that the whole system is collapsing. 3.. There is advantages to living in the US that appeal to Canadians for different reasons but if your family is in Canada it makes sense that when a Canadian who lives in the US comes into hard times you can’t replace the comfort your family can give you and if you don’t have a lot of money Canadian social safety nets and health care makes life a little easier to live. It’s hard to appreciate social safety nets health care and family till you need them and don’t have them.

The only reason birthright citizenship was enacted was to deal with the issue of newly freed black slaves after the civil war, because technically they were not citizens before the civil war. As a russian who raised in Germany i can say its impossible to close friendships with germans if you are not familiar with them since kindergarten or school ?I ve spent 25 years of living here and got only one german friend, all other are foreigners who raised in Germany like turks, russians, greeks and so on. The housing shortage is a common thread to the economic/ housing crisis! But why aren’t they building rental units??? Simple, would you build a plane if your passengers simply boarded the plane and refused to pay?? if that were to happen the offending passengers would be de-planed and arrested! \nBut when it comes to renters, they can move in, stop paying rent and it can take 6-12 months to legally evict them. As a former contractor I have been witness to landlords offering cash to tenants and squatters to leave their properties which have always been left trashed and badly damaged! The laws that protect these criminals are a joke and predatory tenants know it! I had a client who rented her condo to a lawyer and after a couple months the tenant stopped paying. She filed for a writ of possesion and waited months for the hearing. She brought all the documentation and the tenant showed up claiming they had cancer ( no documentation, letter from doctors Nothing!) The writ of possession was denied for compassionate reasons! The landlord had a mortgage and was paying the condo maintenance fees, the tribunal didn’t care! \nThey set it aside for six months. In the end cash was offered and the tenant left! After the massive clean up and damage was repaired it was put on the market! This is how far left Canada has gone! There’s simply no way forward!

18:31 I don't think it's so much about being less accepting, it's just that if they live in a small town, there won't be as many fellow immigrants from their ethnic group. Just look at Toronto for example. The Chinese don't move to Brampton, and the Egyptians don't move to Unionville. To a large extent, they move to the parts of the GTA where their own immigrant group lives. Same reason that a Sikh doesn't move to Chinatown is why the Sikh doesn't move to Owen Sound or Kapuskasing - they prefer to be near their own community, especially if they're recent immigrants that haven't integrated that well into the Canadian culture.
