You need to.come.legally we have something called laws these days there is a huge difference in settlers and immigrants we can't just let anyone in our countries this shit is happening all over western civilization and it's fucking up our housing market because they're not building enough houses for all the people coming in especially up where I live in Canada the house prices are like 4 times there actual worth and because of Trudeaus immigration policies and his red tape policies on housing I'll never be able to afford a house

No country wants it's society overrun by those who don't share it's values...it's happening all over the West and it amazes me how media such as The Guardian seem so befuddled by that.

Canada is a total disaster right now. The NDP support of the Liberals is quickly destroying what was once a great country. We need a competent government desperately. Canada may never recover from what is happening.

The vast majority of people are not against immigration per se, they just want it to be done at a pace that it doesn't change the fabric of society. There are countries where this happens, and they don't experience the evaporation of social cohesion we've seen in Western Europe. Immigration can boost economies and foster diplomatic ties between nations if done well. If done badly, it leads to chaos.

I’m an immigrant from Europe, who’s been in Toronto for a decade and all I can say is that if this is going to continue to happen, I’ll be the first out of the country in the next couple of years as it’s unsustainable to continue bringing more people from others countries and specially from non western countries as it seems difficult for some to adopt Canadian values. Canada is going down the hill at an unprecedented pace.

Probably because there's a rise happening where it's being said no more to immigrants filling already full countries with no to little criminal checks on who's entering and better treatment then the countries citizens on the citizens tax money

I can't help but think that the phrase 'a country of immigrants' is just a sneaky way of saying 'a country of colonialism'. I dont know that much accountability or reconciliation has happened in Canada over the last 300 years. It began with governments and corporations doing whatever they wanted and could do to make money and extract resources off of this land (regardless of whom it affected), and continues to be just that. The increase of immigrants is largely, as far as I know, being used to a) bring in more revenue and economic stimulus (which is more and more ending up in the hands of a few very wealthy families) and b) fuel the labour force of large corporations that would rather soak the profits up themselves, hire low-wage PR or temporary foreign worker labour, than pay Canadian residents properly to work those jobs. I love immigrants, have many 1st gen immigrants friends, and think they do bring a lot to Canada. We all do, as we were all immigrants at some point. At the same time, the immigration system is very complicit in looking at immigration as a resource in aiding those rich families/ corporations in colonialism, and you could argue that this overreliance is abuse of the immigration system. Certainly, we have seen this with colleges. This feels especially true over the last several years with huge jumps in immigration numbers with growing inequality for long term residents. So the result is a very quickly changing world that is not helping many Canadians feel more secure about their future, which is a recipe for unrest. Am I wrong? Genuinely I am looking to have an open discussion here!

I remember the exact same thing happening when I applied for a travel visa to India in NYC , a young woman’s father had died 3 days before and they were given her a hassle about it till she was crying. Manning the border is an easy problem to fix, we spent 800 billion on the military last year and each alphabet agency’s budget ranges from 1-15 billion. Needless to say there should be no shortage of resources and manpower in the executive arm of the government. Now many of them may not be excited about pay-cuts while being forced to field work and eternal guard duty for the rest of their careers but that’s something they need to reconcile with themselves as it was always a known possibility of happening to anyone living in a country with stressed borders.

I have a feeling things are going to reach boiling point just like they have in the UK and legal migrants and their kids are going to get caught up in it with social cohesion going to shit. If the same thing happens here it will affect NY as a whole and taxpayers. Politicians really need to be booted out of office before that happens. We have so many failed migration policies in these European countries to learn from but we still repeat their mistakes anyway.

Solution is easy, we have the most powerful military on the planet, the lack of desire to solve it by the government is problem. As a fully disabled Army veteran who was raised by the southern border in New Mexico, who has seen first hand what the cartels are capable of, I have been saying this was going to happen for a long while now. The cartels have already expanded their operations and even the head of the DEA confirmed this, they are in every major US city. They have been growing like this since the first day Biden took office, and Tommy G's interview with one of the coyotes confirmed this months ago. The cartels are exploiting this country's weaknesses in seeing this as a political issue when it's concerns our nation's national security. It's going to have impacts for this country for years or even decades to come, and knowing what I do from where I grew up it's going to be really bad for a lot of innocent naive people.

I am an Indian. We too get illegal immigrants from neighbouring countries thanks to uncaring politicians but what's happening in the US is madness. It's an insult to citizens and those who migrate legally.
