Democrats should stay out of the deportation fight (getting rid of criminals is fine), but let MAGA and the business community fight it out. Obama deported many people, but it never significantly harmed the economy. If Trump carries out his plan, we will reach a critical mass where there won't be enough people to pick the crops, work in the meat processing industry, hospitality, construction, etc. Costs will rise significantly, and we will experience shortages.

It was announced today on the news that the Trump initiative to deport all illegal immigrants will cost up to $1 trillion dollars. That’s a lot of moolah. Which will come out of our taxes. So this mass deporation will cost $100 bil to achieve (some estimates put it at over $300 bil) and those immigrants pay approx. $100 bil in taxes (including paying into SS, which they can't use) and many of them do menial jobs for low wages that citizens do not want to do (unless you pay them more, which raises prices)... combine this with potential tariffs and this sounds like a foolproof plan for a recession with stagflation.
