I too will be gone from Canada soon. I loved Canada growing up. Now, not so much. Freezing cold, stupid cost of living, taxes through the roof, too much immigration when we can`t even take care of our own, homelessness and unaffordable housing. And i have a house, 37 year government job, single with no kids, retiring next year.....And i`m still leaving.

Weather he would be persecuted or not ( I tend to believe he would) this guy seems to be a contributing, working, engaged and loved member of his community. Not violent or a criminal. If he's gone through proper channels to attempt to stay I support him.

Its not just Canada but actually all the Western Nations are undergoing deep economic crisis. It won't matter where you go in the West it will be the same. The hegemony the West enjoyed for so long due to their exploitation, rape and pillage of other nations has finally come to an end. The standard of living they enjoyed for so long will be gone forever and the so called 3rd World nations or the Global Majority will finally be able to enjoy a higher standard of living as they gain sovereignty and join organisations such as BRICKS or BRI.

Back in the late 1990s I made serious plans to emigrate to Canada. My country seemed to me a black endless hole from politics to daily life. I even learnt French because my plan was to settle in Quebec. Time went by and, sadly, Canada has gone downward. My country has fared a littlet better since myymid twenties. It still sucks but I get along with it. There always is a place to call home if you have seen the world. Lucky you, I haven't seen as much world as I once dreamt of. Good luck on your choice.

I came to Germany 7 years ago , speak German fluently and am on the verge of getting the citizenship but I will leave the country soon , why?\n1- extremely ineffective bureaucracy\n2-high taxes ( like you are being punished for not having a kid and earning more money, how dare you?)\n3- low acceptance for innovation and technology ( I swear I had to use and am still using a Fax Machine!! at work, I thought Fax was something that disappeared when I was a kid but it apparently just moved to Germany )\n4- bad weather\n5- even with a C2 Certificate, Germans are not the most friendliest people around ( like some other central and north european countries ) , you immediately feel the difference in attitude when you go to Spain, Italy or more friendly countries\n6- hypocrisy when it comes to immigration policies... like they want the most skilled workers but they dont want to pay them a good salary and even from that salary half is gone without you seeing it. and yet they still seem to wonder where the problem is.... my friend, Money, make them earn more at the end of the month(AFTER tax) and they will stay, yet they do every other measure apart from this :)))

Agree with the mass immigration has screwed things up...I am PR turned Canadian citizen now....the things are gone worse in last 2 years....I am not against immigration as I am PR immigrant too...certainly Canada needs skilled workers but the things getting worse by mass immigration masking skilled work immigration...Woking hard contributing to the society and country all it matters...but I can't see all my tax money going to refugees and asylums....this should stop.. immigration needs to be halted and country should go to repair mode else it would a let down for future generations and there is no stop for Canadians migrating to other countries for better life...india thought culture to the world...whats going wrong...respecting culture and people is what we indians are...

Canada , imo, is quietly against immigration. That’s why they add the “Canadian experience “ to job qualifications. That’s a passive way of screening out immigrants. Many immigrants were well skilled and can quickly adopt but then that position is gone from Canadians . Also immigrants, believe in nepotism, and quickly populate other positions with friends and family.

Canada has really gone downhill and is getting very creepy, viz. lack of freedom of speech, tyrannical government, mass immigration, etc. Look at the bright side though, at least they still let you leave, unlike say in the old Soviet Union. I had a married couple from Toronto who were clients of my remodeling company in Minnesota. They had immigrated to the states in search of better economic opportunity. Good luck to you.

I'm a Canadian and I moved to Asia 20 years ago. My motivations for leaving were the endless winters, the absolute necessity of having a car and two sets of tires, crazy insurance prices, and getting taxed on everything without seeing benefits. Now when I visit I am shocked at the price of everything from food to gas to hotels. In addition, I hear that housing has gone through the roof. Many can't afford to buy and face bidding wars to rent a place. With oil, timber, minerals and more, Canada should not be in this position. The government(s) have really messed things up and need to start reversing these trends now.

Don't bother with the UK, sadly. It's the same here. Mass immigration has suppressed wages and made most of our town and cities look like downtown Mogadishu. I agree with you leaving. I am a 3rd generation retired Canadian who used to be proud to be so. Now I am not, in fact I am embarrassed to say I am Canadian as it is nothing to be proud of. I think of how good things were in the 70's and 80's while I was young and now how bad things are today and it is truly depressing. Back then if you are willing to work, you could make a decent living, buy a car, a house and raise a family - today, good luck with that. The people in the west have had no say in the faulty governments we have had as Ontario and Quebec have put the final nails in our coffin when they elected that buffoon JT for a third consecutive term and then the NDP kisses his butt to join up and torture us more when most sane Canadians did not ask for this. I was born and grew up in Mississauga Canada, lived here my entire life. I've seen the defecation of this country in the last 10 years under this liberal extremists Trudeau rule. I see no potential anymore to stay in Canada. Yes I can work but i am paying everything to the government and its not like they are putting money into the community, they spend it on themselves, foreigners, to other countries nothing helps Canadas infrastructure. I was born in Sudbury in 1973 and we moved to Ottawa shortly after. Growing in Ottawa in the 80's were the best years of my life. I obviously didn't know that back then! Nowadays, there's not a week in Ottawa without at least more than one shootings. The houses our parents bought in the 70's for $35000 are worth now more than $600000... I sincerely don't recognise our society anymore. It's almost as if all that we knew back then is gone! I'm really sad for today's teenagers and young adults. I really wish we could go 40 years back!!!

I've lived in Canada since the late 1980's, starting in Quebec, then Ontario and since 2010 Alberta. I've seen the decline and really don't like where this has gone. However, there have always been ups and downs and the recent pandemic has caused problems for every country. I still like living here, but I love travel as well. So for now we're snowbirds, exploring different locations in South and Central America each winter. I also have ties to Germany, but so far life in Canada suits me more. I came back to Canada in 2022 after 20 years living abroad, and it's been a mixed bag. Getting a good job is extremely difficult as international experience is rarely factored into potential employers decisions to hire - even if the companies you've worked for are Fortune 500. If you didn't work for that company in Canada, good luck getting the same position. You'll be working in a junior position despite your previous job title. My wife is currently going through this. She went from Project Manager at one for largest companies in the world to junior developer at a small company. Pay is.......not great.\n\nI've been lucky with having a lot of support of family and friends. A lot of the clients I've started to work with in my profession came through people I know. I never would have got these opportunities on my own in that amount of time. It would have taken years. Nepotism played a big part.\n\nTo come to Canada, and start a new life without a solid support system would be absolutely brutal right now. I got really lucky, but my situation isn't normal. I wouldn't recommend anyone (Canadian or immigrant) to come back right now if they're been gone for a long time. The rent alone is enough to turn anyone away.

I am from Croatia. Couple years ago my friend had an apt he was renting out and suddenly the tenants decided to stop paying and wouldnt leave. He just went to one of those shaddy strip clubs found a couple thugs that were working there and hired them to scare the crap out of them by threatening them with their lives. 2 days later they were gone lol. Sometimes extreme measures are required. Whats better wait 5 yrs to finally evict someone or take matrer into your own hands.

Rents have doubled/tripled in Hungary. So are the food prices. Quality of food is no longer same but going down. Just feel surviving is hard in today's world.

I'm a dual UK/Canadian citizen and passport holder and have always planned to move to Canada. It seems to be on the same level as the UK now, though, so there's really not much point. I've left and gone to Cyprus.
