I'm from Alberta and think this is the best place to live and not Quebec who force us to put french on half of everything but they have the nerve to force everyone to speak french and then cry's and wines if anyone makes any kind of complaint about it. Quebec is the most unCanadian place in all of Canada.

I've lived in both. Canada is a better place to raise your family for sure, and as a society I think it's a better place to live. It's cleaner, safer, and more diverse (and I'm talking real diversity like Aba mentioned, not segregation). There's some cool stuff about the States, don't get me wrong, but my girlfriend (who is American and has visited Canada with me) and I are strongly contemplating moving to Canada. The US has a better night life culture generally speaking and like Aba said there's more to do, but generally speaking I just want a peaceful and simple life.

Send them back. I came to canada in 2017 as an international student, paid shit tons of money for housing, tuition fees. Worked full time after graduation,yet my immigration process is taking long. Evey step I took went through proper screening, and yet it's taking forever. Send them back. At this point theres no gurantee for people like me to get permanent residence over here. With all the back logs etc. So why should they be granted status, while my work permit expires in 6 months and immigration officers wont bother to answer my phone calls for extension. I have paid my taxes, I have obeyed the law. I'm a law abiding citizen. At this point, I'm even thinking of going back. This country wants new talents and more people to add to their workforce. But if they treat people like me like this. Then we might as well go back.

You can save so much time for so little money and with that time you can work for even more money or go have a great time. Let’s all live like KING! Be a Great person without doing anything! \nWe want to be good neighbors, but my room is just too comfy. We have abandoned neighborhoods and empty buildings and I would rather have hard-working people take over instead of all these crack-up druggies calling themselves homeless. We need to have our own Giant Factories and more Labor force and Health care worker relief. Let them in but they must work hard and cheaply and take Jobs most Americans don't want as they are starting from the bottom. Until they master English, they are not a threat to any jobs that you might want, and most don't even bother to learn which is good for us. \n \nHealthcare workers are working too hard. Let’s use migrants and help them out, immigrants can do all the labor-intensive and poop work so our healthcare workers can focus more on the health of the patients. This will reduce hospital bills since labor is a major cost to any business. We will also all receive better care at the hospital. \n \nUS companies and foreign companies are building factories in India or in Mexico when the same workers are at our doors. Let's build them here in the USA and we English speakers will have to manage them unfortunately since that’s the language of the Country. If you speak Spanish and English, you are going to have many jobs. \nEverything important should be made in America with all these workers. We can all have our own factories and business and exploit cheap labor flocking to our Great Country. We must use this to our advantage while it lasts. \nCheap labor we can Build houses that are affordable. Fix all the infrastructure we have been crying about. \n \n5. If War we're ready! \nIf we ever have another World War first one to go are minorities and poor people so, not only does it provide us with a bigger army, but you might not be first to get drafted. Not only that but because we have immigrants we would have stronger ties to those immigrant countries which can come in handy later. You never know which country will become the next global leader and we can always use military support. \n \nIf there are other legal exploitation, we can benefit from having immigrants into our Great nation please share! There are things that I like and dislike about both.\n\nThere are more Canadians coming to the US than in reverse. Politically I'm non Partisan. So I really don't need to say much on that, from both Countries. I think the US doesn't pay a lot of attention to Canada. I feel Canada wants the US to give it, its respect.\n\nLong story short, if I was rich, I wouldn't want to live in either Country.?

I am Canadian and have been living in Asia for the past 14 year... I'm so happy that people like you are not afraid to tell he truth... As a Canadian, I feel we need a wake up call... Canadians just go on their day to day not thinking that they are living sub-par in various parts of their life.

I’ve watched the video and I’ve read many comments. My message it’s to immigrants, Canadians & everyone. Just be some patient to read for you to think reasonable after this. I’m sure you’ll start to be reasonable regarding Canada. I had a good life good job & a nice home in Ukraine. Due to the barbarian russian invasion my family & I fled the horrific situation in Kharkiv city. I was driving a mini bus of 4 families! Most are children. We’ve arrived to Europe. Crossing many countries (Poland, Czechia & Austria) we’ve arrived to the country leading the EU. In Poland & Czechia, we’re treat very good by the people. In Austria we got hardly a payed hotel where children could get a rest!!! We still didn’t understand why they don’t want to give us rooms despite we’re paying for our staying!!! In Germany, I believe that the government did its best. But the number of comers is huge! Of course many they got disappointed as happened with me! But I still understand and believe that really the government & people did theirs best. So fast I got a job! The social connection helped to introduce me to the company! But i was not hired, I still to express myself & my qualifications. The manager was understanding, so he accepted to communicate in English and to offer me the job in case if I am successful doing the job during the first week at the site. I had to change the machines menu into English. So the manager was very satisfied with my job and I got that job. The rent! You’ll get it only if you receive the blessing of each member of the county and a very strong social connections! The doctors! To make just a blood work for my son it took 45 days of waiting! To get the doctor appointment, you need that a German guy call and get you the appointment! Because when my wife called, the secretary said: we don’t speak English! But when my wife went for her visit she figured out they’re speaking English better than her!!! My son has an issue of hyperactivity, so they refused to accept him at school more than 3 hours a day! And he was excluded from the birthday parties of his colleagues aswell other events! Other Ukrainian children, they were just attending classes! Just a show! No body cares how help their integration! About, the taxes! The half of my income was going to the government! The money back?! Only 200 euros/ month for my kid. And nothing else. Nothing! To get a neurologist appointment for my son it was necessary to wait 3 months! Prices?! Everything expensive! Technology?! Not better than Canada at all. Bureaucracy, Canada is much less. Banking system, Canada much better. Where in Germany?! The best province in Germany “Munich”. Where people stoped long ago dreaming to purchase a home. Guys, Canada doesn’t through broken people as we were in camps! Where nothing is human there! Canada doesn’t enter you in cercle of hell bureaucracy just to get your kid into school! And if he needs a support he get it right away without any background that he’s not our!!! I got a good job in Canada; so fast. Without any social connections because simply I do not have any. I rent an apartment for my family, without to proof to the landlord that I’m the best guy in the world with a witnessed county about that!!! I want you to be sure, that I am not the lonely case. Just ask Ukrainians stied in Europe for a while before they move recently. Just ask them. I am not saying it’s a paradise or cons don’t exist. Just paradise doesn’t exist! And cons are everywhere. Just I want you to be fair about Canada. Please, be reasonable! The cons in Canada are not catastrophic, and it’s not difficult to fix them. It may take some time, but not difficult. I’m Canadian. This society has become terrible. My wife is Croatian/Bosnian. We went for a nice escape over to there last year. I can’t stop thinking about moving there.

Well everyone, the option is to go into a system like the United States has , which incidentally is far from perfect itself, my spouse was in emergency for five hours last Saturday night before anyone looked at her, , which the system will spiral in to a business and if you think you have problems now, just wait till what’s down in the future. As a Canadian who has lived in the United States the last seven years, our good family healthcare is $1270 US a month, which incidentally has a $1000 deductible and a 10% co-pay on everything we experience, and trust me an MRI scan ( yes , just a scan, not surgery) for your brain is costed out at $7000, so be prepared to pay your deductible and 10% of it along with all the other attending doctor charges, even with good healthcare at 1270U.S. a month ! That monthly healthcare premium is almost $1600 a month Canadian. Canadians complain about taxes being too high also, but that is my profession, and when you round out the two , there may be 2 to 3% adjusted for the exchange rate higher and you still get a lot greater bang for the buck. Also, your higher education in the United States is easily 2 to 3 times of what you’re paying for in Canada. I know it’s not optimal, however trust me you still have it good in Canada, I find so many immigrants complain about it when they come to Canada, Yet they are living in a relatively safe and secure country, just a little bit of appreciation would be nice. Is it always what I can get, how about maybe what you can give? Maybe the answer for everyone and candidates to start to pay to go see a doctor if you can have the doctors availability, that is the sad truth, and I’m quite sure people will not like that by any means when they see the charges. Trust me ,Canada is obviously far from perfect, but is overall still a pretty darn good country, for somebody that dislikes it so much, they need to go back to where they’re from, and compare, it might be a better option for them.

First off Canada is not a systemically racist country I’m white I’m also poor and I’ve lived here all my life nearly everyone excluding the native population in a immigrant or a descendant of a immigrant my mom is Portuguese and I also have black family members we are no more racist than anyone else in any other country. Canadian tax payers don’t want to pay for drug addicts to get more drugs the Liberal Canadian government have set up “safe injection sites” and “ methadone clinics” that basically give these addicts more drugs that are payed for with our tax dollars again these clinics and safe injection sites didn’t exist when I was a kid and since then the number home homelessness has increased as well as the number in population addicted to drugs. As someone from Belgium that now lives in Columbus OH because of marriage, you're spot on with everything. Safety? Limited. Sprawl? Terrible. Rent? Eh it's not that bad. I make a base salary of $82.5k and my wife makes $50k. Our 2br 1ba apartment's rent is about $1000. It's a nice place, but it has some flaws. Our next place will be around $1500. I've told my wife I don't like the sprawl and lack of public transport here and I want to move to a place where that is less of an issue: Chicago, NYC or Boston. However, the latter two have crazy high rent.\n\nI must add, the terribly unsupported public education system in Columbus is by far the worst reason. My wife is a teacher at a Columbus City School that's almost 100% black. White families put their kids through private schools. The rest of the kids have terrible home lives and are therefore incredibly ill-behaved and under-educated. So much so that the teachers just CANNOT keep up with Ohio's learning standards. By the time these kids graduate (and that's a big IF), they would have learned about 20% of what a regular 18-year old would have learned in most of the world. This is in part due to:\n1. Parents that do not involve themselves in what their children do, and therefore do not discipline appropriately.\n2. Terrible school admins that force teachers to lower their standards to have a high passing rate for the school (otherwise it gets shut down). Also, due to the No Child Left Behind Act, admins also force teachers to teach how to pass state tests (repetitive bullshit) instead of important learning materials and/or critical thinking skills.\n3. A lot of these students are pushed into the gang lifestyle and see no future in their education. They don't even try.\n4. Burned out teachers that grew tired of the negative ROI and start giving out poor and inadequate work packets. However, I don't like blaming teachers, especially because my wife is the hardest working person I know.\n\nIt's hard to see my wife come back every day, exhausted. It pains me both for her and her kids. America doesn't give a fuck about education. The big theory is that they're purposely not giving public schools attention so they can be phased out and private education becomes the norm. And if you can't afford it? That's great, we need factory workers.\n\n\nI might convince my wife to move to Europe eventually (luckily a European marriage visa isn't as stupidly hard to obtain as it was for me to get here). Having kids in America is not something I'd like to think about. For now, I'm taking advantage of this high salary to save as much as I can and focus on advancing in my career. I’m Canadian and married to an American, and of the two countries we’ve lived in, we’ve decided to plant our roots and raise our kids in Canada. For a lot of the reasons you two hit on, and for some you didn’t. Education, opportunities, cleanliness, etc. I hated waking up in the morning and watching people dumpster diving next to my apartment and thinking, I can’t let my kids go out and play on the little 10x10 piece of grass in front of my parking lot. I felt like my financial situation was limited to minimum wage even though inflation and cost of living was skyrocketing. Americans think they’ve got the best of everything until they travel to other parts of the world.

I'm from Houston and I traveled around the US for my wife job and stuff. I would say Houston is the only city I seen with a true diversity in a neighborhood. The neighborhood I grew up with was filled with blacks, Hispanics, Asian, and Africans with a touch of whites. If I had to choose which race secluded themselves the most would be white ppl but I think it's a social economics reason more than race nowadays. Prettiest white girl I seen would be Tennessee, Latinas would be florida/texas/Cali, Caribbean would be NY area, black ladies are texas/lousiana/Georgia. Asian would be cali/texas. This is just from my taste and experiences tho.

I feel like Canada is a lite version of the U.S. \n\nI'm a lifelong U.S. citizen and been to Canada many times. Mostly in Ontario, Nova Scotia and Quebec. \n\nI totally agree Canada is and feels way safer. I've been to some areas of Toronto that are HOOD and I was taken aback. The 6ix is getting a little crazy, I don't know what's happening with the Lake Ontario air over there. Overall though, Toronto is so much safer, cleaner and much more pleasant to be in than in NYC or Chicago (from my experience and I choose those cities because they are usually compared to each other). Montreal has some sketchy areas but some of the sketchy areas of Montreal are comparable to a nice suburban area of the Bronx or Queens. The Zoe's in Montreal can be annoying but overall I never felt I had to be on alert. Again, Canada definitely is a lot safer (to me) and also way cleaner. \n\nAs for the cities, I think overall the urban areas of Canada are a little better with city planning but its not that much different. Other than Some areas of Canada you also need a car or if not, you're assed out. The provinces in Canada are HUGE and you can be driving all day in just one province. And like the U.S. the rail system across the nation isn't too great. Actually, I think the U.S. has a better bus (Greyhound/GhettoHound, Peter Pan, Mega Bus etc) and rail system (Amtrak) then Canada does. Not saying a whole lot but its still better I feel. \n\nWeather. If you're looking for warm weather year round, you will NOT find that in Canada. \n\nI think the U.S. provides more opportunity at the moment and overall, I think there's more to do and see and I believe it or not I think people in the U.S. generally are a little bit friendlier and more full of life. Of course, everything depends on what you're looking for but both are great countries but I find myself wanting to move up north to Canada nowadays but the gun laws are a deterrent for me.

Talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire. You have NO constitution, if you think the only major issue with that is gun rights you haven't a clue. You are FULLY vulnerable to an already tyrannical government. Wait until they force a smart city on you. Wait until they start shutting down farms in the name of green (they are already doing this in the netherlands). Wait until the next pandemic and the godawful rules and abuses that will come with that. This is just the tip of the iceberg of how you are screwed and totally at the mercy of their fkd up system. I live in British Columbia. In a city people consider “dangerous.” I remember I had a package delivered to my door. I was at work so I couldn’t go get it. I was imagining those videos I saw on YouTube of people getting their packages stolen within 10 minutes of it sitting there. But nah, It stayed there for 6 hours and never got stolen. Heck my workplace, had a package delivered on Friday evening and it stayed there outside until Monday. I was very surprised both times. I’m not saying that I’m living in a utopia, I’ve gotten robbed before, like everyone else I have my complaints. I think what really helps Canada is the smaller population. Less people means less people to rob shit. That tap water do be nice though.

I’m traveling rn, so I talk to a lot of internationals about the pros and cons of American. The greatest pros would be we are definitely the land of opportunity, so if you want make a lot of money there’s no country better. The people also have this optimism about the future that’s not as prevalent around the world, and the country is very diverse which means you can find a state that matches you want. However the downsides would be the stark wealth inequality, and lackluster healthcare. The polarization between the left and right, and the crazy urban sprawl which you never get used to.\n I think the inequality is due to us having this bootstraps mentality when it comes to success. Whenever I tell other Americans how lucky I am they’re quick to say that it’s all due to my worth ethic, but life is a lot more nuanced. Regardless I still love my country, and can’t see myself living anywhere else. ??

I think those of us that live here in the states that are in states that are close to Canada are fortunate because we get the best of both worlds. I'm from Detroit and we visit regularly because it's right across the river. I've been to Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and use to visit Windsor often. We started going to Canada at a young age because it was legal to drink at 19 when we found that out we were there at least once a month back then. I've always enjoyed my time in Canada I'll be back there soon.

Haven't lived in Canada but been to Toronto a few times. I'm from Atlanta, GA and I think the southern hospitality is still true for us. In downtown Toronto, when interacting with people, I didn't get that. Customs acted like they didn't want to let us in the country and were rude (I'm sure the US is like this too), and the Canadians I came into contact weren't very friendly. I didn't bother anyone, minded my business but when having to interact or passing folks in the street, I didn't have a good experience.

I'm legit thinking of leaving the US for Canada. With my life plans including a family, the amount of school shootings in the country is a real determining factor. Don't want my kids to feel unsafe in a place that they shouldn't have to worry.

To confirm as an American. Yes, it seems like everyone wants to put hot sauce and cheese on everything and it's annoying. The tap water here is bad unless you get it from the fridge or have a filter. Here in Arkansas, I think our spring water is great.\n\nRegarding the city and getting around to restaurants and other areas, pretty much. A good portion of our factories are on acres of land. However, some are still close enough that you can walk to. I'm certain this is hardly different from Canada but we are 97% rural. People think of America as big cities but usually its the local town and a pumpkin patch. When Aba said America is like 40 different countries, he ain't wrong. \n\nFirearms is ingrained in our culture. That's a given. I see a lot of people mention safety and this is what I can say; I felt my safety was compromised by a tornado warning. Trouble can happen but if you don't deal drugs or do some under the table stuff, usually you won't be a victim of a crime. \nI'm planning on owning some land myself so I can shoot on it, farm, and raise a family. Just be independent.

I think that's one of the largest problems in the United States. To be a real estate developer or landlord, I want to make good money.\n\nIf the cost of the 20 building complex costs me $125 million, I will set the majority of those to elegance and people willing to pay for that. But it seems quite greedy to charge exorbant rents and continue having that cost go up every year.\n\nIf mortgages in a median area are $2500, let me set the rent to maybe $1500 to $1800. But that's not the case!\n\nRenting, the cost of the apartment NEVER caps off! To think that I'm renting a 1 or 2-bedroom apartment at $1875, but no in-house laundry, no dishwasher, but I'm paying for water, gas, extra fees is insane! \n\nAnd these owners wonder why people try to kill them.

This was a really cool episode. I'm a born and raised Canadian, but my friends and my fiancé are all from the USA, so I've got a firsthand look at the differences in our cultures and countries.\n\nOne thing I'll say right off the bat, I think a big part of what makes Canada work the way it does, is that we have such a small population compared to the USA.\n\nCanada only has around 35 million people, but there are some states in the USA that have over 40 Million people on their own. \n\nWhen you have that many people crammed together in one location, all fighting for jobs and housing and food and everything, it makes sense why you might have a culture that's a lot louder and self serving, because you have to compete with millions of people if you really want to make something of yourself.\n\nMy hometown of Edmonton Alberta, for example, we had a population of just 500,000. And I think the laid back attitude that a lot of people have in Canada is a product of that. \n\nThat's a big reason our crime levels would appear lower as well, because there's just a lot less of us.

As an American who now lives in Japan, Yes! to all of this. I don't think we realize how draining it is to live in that type of environment and the toll is takes over time. I lived in a studio apartment in Chicago that costed the same as a 2 bedroom here, maybe less. I had to work 2 full time jobs to pay rent and other utilizes. I rarely socialized with my friends or went out to do anything. And I thought that was NORMAL. That's crazy thinking back on it now. Also I'm a lot less paranoid in Japan then I was in the States due to safety reasons.

See, cities being less compact is something that I prefer. I hate super compact cities. Also, you can’t compare cost of living in LA to cities in Canada. The cost of living in California or NY is considered outrageous for most of the US. I’ve been to Canada and remember thinking it was way more expensive than where I’m from. You can say nobody wants to live in the other places, but I personally don’t mind. I have no interest in being in the “hubs.” Oh, and tap water varies here too. I’ve been all around the US and St. Louis area tap water is amazing whereas some places I’ve been it’s terrible. Really just depends.

I’m not Canadian, but I don’t know how this guy can function In Montreal, where half the city is English speaking, not to mention the immigrants. I think he needs to go back to being a country bumpkin Quebecer. I mean no offense to actual rural Quebecers.
