This whole system needs an overhaul. Why is Canada recruiting so many international students just from India anyway? If there has been a need for housing/hostels for international students why doesn't the government tackle this. In Kenya private developers build studio apartments in areas with Colleges/Universities, this works out pretty well. A private space is better than strangers huddled up together

I am transgender and out, basically broke the relationship with my family. I’m living alone in the US as an international student (CN citizen) and suffering from the living cost and tuition even though I have a part-time job, and I’m gonna lose it soon because I have to change my visa to a student visa that does not allow me to work outside of campus. I am thinking about transferring to a Canadian university because I’m poor and lonely without family anyway (lol), and I just can’t resist the temptation of starting my life again in a different place while healing my trauma. Moreover, it’s more immigrant-friendly (note I am still going through a visa change in the US), maybe I will not be in the daily fear of having to go back to China, where is definitely not trans-friendly. But I’m so anxious on the other hand. What if I end up unemployed; what if I run out of money…I’m simply uncertain about how to find somewhere queer-friendly to survive with a secured shelter and money enough for food. I’m sorting everything out…please let me know if you have any similar experiences in Canada. Anything can be very helpful.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. However, the issues you have faced in Australia will haunt you in some way in Canada too. I am a Canadian PR and just love Canada. The people are very nice, landscape is amazing, and it is cheaper than Australia. But it is just as hard in Canada to find a good job as it is in Australia. I am a Petroleum Engineer with over 10 years of experience working in a fortune 500 company, yet I cannot even get an interview for a related job in Canada. I also realized that lots of immigrants who came here through express entry and have years of experience work overseas despite staying in Canada for years due to the lack of opportunities. I’m moving out few years agoes out of Canada and so happy indeed living in ?? so much freedom depending wich states you want to live freedom on money , health benefit , outdoors indoors activities etc…Canada it’s an empty country, empty land too cold and depress living and please check the population of Canada only worth one states (Texas)USA population. Canada only need immigrants to build their country and in terms of Govn professions their are very selective and it’s hard to get through if your immigrant unless your a scientist or engineers still yiu need to move to other parts of Canada to get hired . Anyway I’m sorry to brings this up but I’m myself a hard worker working in a nursing field it’s very depressing to live in Canada . I Was born in Canada and I agree and disagree with some points you've mentioned. How can you come to Canada and not expect to wear a jacket ? lol... The price of living is going up all over the world, the last 6yrs has become very pricey in all western countries. Hospitals are overrun in major cities in Canada that's very true, but not in smaller locations. Boring (are you crazy ? lolol) I completely disagree. You just don't know where to go lol ... however everything you do in Canada cost money ?. And I completely agree when you mention that Canada won't allow you to become filthy rich (very disappointed about that one) ... There is racism, but not just from the predominant Canadians. There have been many times when the racism is from someone new to Canada. But i also know as a black person i will experience this anywhere in the world. (They're portraying what they normally would towards me while in there own countries) ... anyway nice post, it's nice to hear what it's like from your perspective. Taxes are meant to run the country's affaires but people are just mean. You love it when you are broke and are able to benefit free services from the government but when you start making some money and are asked to contribute so that the country can keep up with all it's programs you start complaining. Come back to Africa, there is always a trade-off. No good service and less taxes. Just keep in mind that Africa not developing is our choice otherwise the cost of development is that, in a way ( higher taxes and government's direct control over people's affaires). I thank God anyway that you people can complain of better living condition but I would rather get busy working hard in Canada than not finding a decent job in Africa or bare the cold whether than sleeping hungry in Africa. While not staying that you would be in the worst conditions in Africa, I want you appreciate what you have and remember one truth, so many people in Africa would wish to be in your position. immigrants leave Canada because of rich immigrants who destroy our market, Canada was extremely wealthy and quiet with much more opportunity before mass immigration. Our government only bases vote counts on getting the immigrant vote now anyways... it's a losing game.

It's an immigrant quota goverment tax scam. They need self sustained educated immigrants to raise tax money for the locals without being a burden for the government. Once in Canada they don't care how you do. As far as technical or high pay occupations they are controlled by unions which make gualifying degree holder immigrants pay exorbitants amounts of money and go though so much red tape that make it almost impossible for them to practice in their field. Their degree qualifies them to come to Canada, that's all. Once in the degrees even if better than Canada's standards, they are worthless. Engineering, medical fields are run by unions whose only purpose is to ensure Canadian born high payed proffesionals in those fields and others are guaranteed a lavish life through an endless pool of ever growing customers for a short list of elite board certified providers. It's a scam, a well thought one red seal approved by Ottawa. Get your foot in the country to escape the hell in your origin country, work through towards your citizenship which is always handy to have and bail out for better opportunities else where outside Canada. My two cents anyway.

I live in the UK and its the same here... everyone does their own thing... I probably walk past my neighbours in the street without knowing them... I'm not someone who needs people around all the time, so it's OK up to a point, but I'd rather my life not revolve around work just to live! I much rather work from home by myself anyway! There is more to life, I'd like to have more time to meet friends, go to church etc, however things have changed do much over the last 2 years...I know many here who are lonely and depressed which leads many down the wrong path.

It wasnt always like this. It is only like this the last 10-15 years. And I agree it sucks. And the thing is if you decide that no, you dont want to live like this (we don't) people actually complain on you that you or your kids are disturbing them. We live anyway but it still sucks. 2:27 yes but nearly no violent crime. 5x the crime per person then the country but your more likely to get murdered in Toronto. And the territories has the benefit of being absolutely gorgeous in the summer and a lake everywhere you look. The city of Yellowknife alone touches 8 lakes. Additionally -40 isn’t bad, just stay inside. And if you go to high school in the NWT and then move back you get student loans payed off, I believe there are similar things in Yukon and Nunavut. My mom used to live in Saskatchewan but she moved to B.C when she was about 14 and me my siblings and uncle went back their so see my grandpa who was dying bc of cancer he got from the farm radiation and smoking he had 3 types of cancer anyways we went to 3 hotels 1 very nice new one made in 2015 (this was back in 2018) one built in 1930 and another in like 1970 the one built in 1970 was built in a high crime area the 1930 one was kinda too it was like the first time seeing crime in real life because in B.C theirs no really crime to see much off
