Canada is a great country I have be here for over half a century raised my family. The culture has changed with the times with Govt Policies put the test resulting in skyrocketing COL like food rents housing costs etc and lack of it not making Canada desirable at this time. The Cap on Foreign Students represents a \nCooling Off period for Canada which will prove beneficial in the coming years. All Indian and Foreign Students have been productive constructive ambitious and disciplined who all made a positive contribution to Canada. Times have changed and Govts will also Change with time. When billions of dollars of taxpayers and international students money are used to support and settle in Canada , the people from countries like Afghanistan Syria Ukraine etc where govt of those countries are involved in self started wars and civil wars, the burden has to be borne by citizens and PR holders. These people don't need to pass through rigorous process of PR or express entry , not to write IELTS, Do WES, Are not properly qualified but still get PR of Canada,On the other hand, rightful people who spend lot of money for IELTS, Wes, pay application money etc etc are rejected on so called system of points. What a nonsense.

I think it is the quality of the immigrants that come to Canada that needs to be analysed. If too many low skilled or people with unemployable skills are granted visas, then any country, let alone Canada, would seem like a tough country to settle and earn. Canadian govt seems to be lenient in allowing too many unemployable ppl to get into the country. This has resulted in an imbalance. It just needs a strong govt which Canada lacks at this point in time. 90% of the problems can be solved within 4 to 5 years if govt stops or regulates visas.

My child graduated in computer science in 2021 and is still looking for a job in software development. Government policy allows Canadian companies to off shore their software development work and also allows for foreigners with IT experience to be fast tracked as permanent residence to Canada. It is gloomy for young Canadians, as our Govt- federal and Provincial- places more focus on businesses and profits about stability rather than orderliness in our society.

we've gone from 30 million in 1997 to 40 million in June '23. 97% are immigrants. If the govt really wanted to control this housing problem, they should have started building apt buildings about 25 yrs ago. We're going to accept over a million immigrants this year....but the Feds are providing funding to build 65,000 houses in the GTA. Not apt buildings, .....single family houses. Why are these international students getting bashed for working delivery, grocery, security jobs? How do you expect a student to be a working as an engineer/doctor/ manager while attending college? Students work for the minimum wage coz they are the only jobs which allows to pick their own schedule. I’ve seen many attending colleges and doing these jobs part time to support their tuition. Moreover, fed govt has increased the student visa work hours cap from 20 to 40 hrs. There is dignity in all kinds of labor.

The govt knows that 95% of the international students are here for the PR and no shame on that… but the govt have to keep up with housing and other requirements that students going to need… you let students comes to Canada and they only can work for 30 hours week minimum wage. No one can survive with that… I don’t blame the kids I only blame this govt.

So if the problem is international student numbers are too high, who is to blame? Does each post-secondary institution monitor and limit the students that they take in? Should this be regulated by the govt or should the onus be placed on each PSI to ensure that for each int'l student they accept, they must ensure they have adequate access to affordable housing. It is a money making venture by Fed Govt. It's insane. And why are there so many Indians coming in as students.

Been in Toronto for just over a year. Definitely shocked to say it’s expensive, not safe, and both of those are directly related to the mass, unchecked immigration that is putting a huge strain. Canada is a country that is built on middle class where a large part of the population are within the same earning range. There are positives to this, less crime, there is not a huge disparity between rich and poor which makes for a more sane environment don’t get me wrong, we still have our crime rate. Now you can see that the professional programs are limited compared to other countries in the universities and highly competitive so that you don’t have so many professionals with high earning power thereby creating a huge disparity. On the other hand, these high earners don’t get a tax return, get any govt cheque, their kids don’t get huge amounts for OSAP instead, they get billed to pay back the govt and that’s how those of you complaining now where able to get govt cheques when you just relocated, support low income homes and newly landed immigrants. There’s free health, good Ammenities, snow is cleared, the roads are salted and de iced, free Education, govt loans and school loans that’s where your tax money goes to. Everyone has an accent that’s your identity why will you feel somehow or intimidated when you are told you have an accent that’s being timid say yes I have an accent it’s African or Caribbean etc. About racism it’s rare never experienced it that’s not saying it doesn’t happen but am gonna call you out if it’s obvious I have been profiled. Yes the weather is harsh did you not look at your map before relocating ?? In all most of these complaints are individual experiences so I won’t invalidate it but don’t trash what you gained from. Retraining and certification is a must especially when you are coming from a certain country and it’s not a bad idea.
