Another reason why Canada has a housing crisis (lack of & expensive) is due to colleges & Universities wanting to make more money from foreign students. On average Vancouver area see's about 8 thousand international students taking up local housing making it hard to find & more expensive !

one of my friends same way came to Canada from Newzealand, and now he went back, the same way another friend from Germany came on PR and went back to India due to he got good opportunity, I was a software project manager in India and my wife was a professor in engineering college having a degree of Ph.D. in computer science but facing trouble to get right job in Newfound land. so we met so many PR newcomers in last 6 months and herd same story like us so moral of the story for others is ,please be aware about expenses , cost of living and hidden costs .

australia is good and i live in Melbourne and have my PR. But the rental market is crazy. Like you won't even get the place even when you are willing to pay higher than asking price, because the owners review every application and decides who to pick. One time, there were 19 applications ! you virtually have no chance. I am talking about Melbourne but this is same story pretty much most places in Australia. The houses are crazy expensive. You just cannot afford to buy in nicer suburbs. The only option is to buy in newer suburbs but they are isolated and lack public transport. Also, job market is not as good as it used to be. Chances of getting PR is also less as compared to Canada..

When I was young, late 50's early 60's, I was jealous of people living in the US. We'd go to my Dad's professional conferences in various areas and everyone seemed to drive such expensive cars and live in such big houses. Now I know that's just window dressing. You have to look at what's underneath. I didnt see the poverty and the racism. Canada unfortunately has people who would like to take Canada down the same road as the US. We have good medical care, a social net, respect human and reproductive rights, attempt to keep religion out of politics, gun control (a pro hunter here!) , fair school funding (the whole province, not just district), and the list could go on. Is it perfect? No but its a whole lot better than the US. We Canucks just need to keep fighting for improvements and it isnt an American model for most of them. \nWe had always planned to take holidays and see various parts of the US. No more. The lack of gun laws is really scary, especially when combined with hate. We're not timid travellers. \n\nMove there... maybe California .

Canada is opening doors to all these new immigrants but it's also kicking out own citizens, because of unable to find jobs that you like no matter that you are highly educated or afford the living expenses. If you are over 50 you will never get a professional job and if you are a recent graduate, even if you study and born in Canada, you can't get a job either because no experience. This is Ontario, this is our home country Canada.

Each countries have their pros and cons. Yes guns and religions are a big turn off but in Canada we're not as free as in USA. \nHere, in Canada, i can't defend myself or my home, i have to way for the police to show up (and it take enough time for the cops to find a corps) if i do and do arm or kill the offenderl, i end up in jail which leaves Canadians with 2 choices. Either get killed or get in Jail. \nIn the last years i saw Canada going to a close to be socialists system and slowly going into a communist system which scare the shit out of me. I won't allow the governement to tell me where to work, where to live, when to bath or what to think. \nThen there's theses biggots who wonder why their church is not open 24/7 and believe earth is flat who claim everything that's not related to them is evil. In Canada we kicked out theses priest and their BS out of our homes and pollitics for 60years now and that's one of the main reason why Canada is better. \nThen there's that millitary expense problem. We don't spend 2/3 of our incomes into a war machine then say there's no money. We don't bail our youth to FORCE them to do their millitary services. \nI wish i could have a gun to defend myself and it's a shame i can't do neither of thoses.

As a Canadian that lived in the U.S. for 12 years I will say that the reason I moved back to Canada is healthcare. Yes I had healthcare through work while I was in the U.S., but every single year it got more expensive and my deductible continued to increase. By the time I decided to move back to Canada my deductible was 5 thousand dollars (If I would have put my family on my plan the deductible would be doubled to 10 thousand). So i basically never went to the doctor for preventative care because I knew I was going to pay an arm and a leg for it. The only reason I continued to pay for the healthcare at all was so that if I fell and broke my spine I wouldn't lose my entirely net worth.

Don't listen to the naysayers... I am moving to the US next month and I CAN'T WAIT to get out of Canada! Everything you buy is too expensive, and that's AFTER the tax rate which is nothing short of grand robbery. Health Care was already abysmal with waitlists over a year for certain procedures, but in the last 3 years it fell apart even further. Crime is on the rise everywhere and government just releases everyone regardless of public risk (read into Saskatchewan mass shooting from last year).\n\nI am set to make $20,000 more in salary, without even taking exchange rate into account, and that is going from Vancouver which has among the highest salary average in Canada to a small American country side town.

Sorry but it's actually NOT good health care by comparison to other countries including Canada. International studies and comparisons place the U.S. near the bottom in fact. Many countries, including Canada, have longer life expectancies, lower infant mortality and equal to or better outcomes across many diseases. America also has the most expensive health care in the developed world with millions not covered at all. BUT the health care expenses are draining us financially here in the US. But we are able to get care for which there is a sometimes a death sentence waiting list for in Canada.

Affordable internet is indeed a problem, same for the cell phone plans they are too expensive because 3 reasons: 1 its a huge country so you need more cell towers to provide for everyone, it has a low population density so individuals have to pay more for it. Now those first 2 are unavoidable. HOWEVER the 3rd reason is inexcusable: The companies don't like to share their infrastructure with the competition. Everytime someone new comes by they need to build their own infrastructure from scratch. So even if telecom came to Canada it would still be super expensive because they'd have to build their own network from nothing because the existing companies are too selfish to share their infrastructure.

Hell yes. I'd move back in an instant. I used to live in the US with my American wife. Coming back to Canada we enjoyed nothing but expense, no rights, a lot of restrictions and now it's becoming like communist China. Love it or hate it America is the last place on earth that has real rights backed up by a real constitution. I am confident that I will secure a LMIA approved job in HR and hence a legit Work permit. \nCan the work permit holder invite his spouse and children ? \nDoes the whole family have free education and health care? \nBut one must have alternate solution. If I don’t get a job in my occupation, I will be forced to work as a farmer or a laborer or any other low skilled occupation and get a work permit for that job. My technical question is once I have worked as a farmer/laborer for a year, I will have to apply for the PR under PNP. Will my 1 year work experience as a farmer/laborer have a negative impact, since my qualification is in business Management (HR) ?

An average salary of $60,000 and $80,000 for Canada and the USA respectively? You guy wanna try an average of $42,000 in the UK, and we import most of what we buy while taxes are through the roof, meaning everything is more expensive. Did I also mention average house prices are even higher than both the US and Canada, with a lower average salary, meaning home ownership is even more out of reach for the average joe.

Canada has become an expensive communist shit hole. Bad weather, sky high taxes, unaffordable housing, failing healthcare, freedom and rights being stripped away, this country is hopelessly lost in this cancer woke culture, we have the weak leading the strong. Please anyone watching this do not take it as fact. Pretty much got all of it wrong. Fishing and Hunting in Nova Scotia and cold? Can live in Vancouver for $50,000/year?? Alberta is way more than Agriculture, oil and gas. Also quite a few more cities than just Calgary. Toronto is getting worse every year. People are leaving the city because it is so expensive to live there. Quebec is getting up there with cost of living along with the taxes. Vancouver Island, yes mild in the winter compared to the rest of Canada but jobs are hard to come by which is why a lot of people retire there.

I live in canada and am starting my final year of high-school in the fall. I have a lot of friends my age, none of us are planning to stay. All of us are going to the States or Europe. We're not leaving because we don't like Canada, we're being forced out because its too expensive to survive. The last two years have been a slow realization that the options for people my age are A) live on the support of your parents for the rest of your foreseeable life, B) become homeless, or C) leave.\n\nIts especially painful because a lot of people here came from immigrant families who worked hard to come here for a better life for their kids, just to have their kids leave for elsewhere or even return to their country of origin.

A few quick points. \n\nDuring the 2009 recession, canada was positioned pretty strong, however if we didnt lower our interest rates our currency would have rissen to high in value and as a result made it too expensive for u.s companies to invest in it. \n\nThe downside was that it over inflated assets due to our strength and confidence in the housing market during the u.s. termoil.\n\nNow, our cost of living is incredibly high, and our tight lending policies on businesses make it difficult to scale within our own country, thus limiting good paying jobs. \n\nThe reason canadians dont invest as much in businesses is not because of lack of innovation and work, it is just much harder to acquire capital.

Canada has ceased to be a confederation and has become a central axis of power in Ontario and Quebec and the remaining provinces treated like colonies. This is very biased in favor of Canada. However, I strongly agree with your viewpoint on gun control. Canada comes out on top. When it comes to Healthcare, you omitted that Canada is experiencing a shortage of doctors and the wait time for care is longer and longer. More doctors are moving to the US for better salaries. For education, the US system made it such that with a Bachelor degree you can get a good job. A Masters degree isn't required although good. Meanwhile, in Canada competition in job market makes it that employers hire over qualified employees. With a Masters degree you're likely to occupy a Bachelor degree position. I personally don't see this as a good thing. When It comes to political and religious diversity, it depends on personal preferences. Some people like diversity, others don't. I personally like conservative states. A 2021 report indicates that thirty thousand new immigrants left Canada due to expensive living conditions. At the end of the day, it is like the saying there's no accounting for taste.

Lived in us for 10 years and also Canada for 7. I can 100% say that life in Canada is a whole lot better then USA. Although pay is more in USA, it’s quickly eaten up by all the expenses and trust me when I say you will spend a ton. Your entire city you live in will most likely try to eat away as much of your wallet as you can. People and going outside is just better in Canada. Usa really really sucks apart from pay, especially for kids unless you live in an expensive city. People are Riddled with hate and it’s not safe for kids to play outside because something is def out to get them. Usually it’s a car or a criminal. One thing I’ve noticed is kids in USA end up doing drugs a whole lot more, because there’s not much for the kids to do. Kids can’t spend much and can’t travel far or at all, so they resort to drugs. With my hs done in highschool, a huge majority of the schools were doing one or another sort of drug. Also I’m back in Canada because life as a student is just a whole lot better then the snaky system of USA. Both suck in their own ways though, Canada a whole lot less, plan to move out to an eastern country anywya tjough.

I'm a 47 year old man, born & raised in Canada, I have lived in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, & BC. Everything in Canada has gotten more expensive in the last 10 years; yet income has not got any better, & the sad truth is, it's just going to get worse in the next few years.

Many countries purport themselves to be better at some thing than another country. I hear a lot of Canadians. Criticize other countries for their pollution, or CO2 emissions and oil production. Interestingly enough, Canada is in the top three largest CO2 emitted is due to the oil and gas industry Per capita than most other countries. So, if people are concerned about the environment, they should understand where Canada really stands.\n\nAdditionally, I think it could be important for you to talk about how expensive things are in Canada. Canadians pour over the border into the United States for better housing to go to Costco and grocery stores and shop for clothes and large appliances, and to avoid high taxation. They also come to the United States for better schools, better work conditions and higher pay. In fact, the joke is people immigrate to Canada as a steppingstone to eventually immigrate to the United States, which is why Canada has a big problem keeping educated talented people.\n\nSafety nets for society certainly have their importance however, socialist policies do not work the best. People from Canada often travel to Australia and then want to move there permanently. The grass always looks better on the other side. However Australia has its problems too. Great weather and friendly people, but it's expensive to live. Jobs may be scarce in some areas, and there are problems of sexism, racism, crime, loneliness, and poverty too.

I tell you Canada is bad to poc coz they keep bringing us here to support their retired population and the pay is low and everything expensive. It's a modern day slavery here. I wish I did not come here.

I grew up in the Caribbean and moved to Canada and I honestly love it. I know it’s expensive but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I drive around and see how beautiful this country is and I’m so happy to be here. Healthcare: I go to the hospital and know I’m waiting for 8 hours and just plan. I moved to a smaller town not far from the GTA but I hop in my car and see them. I’m not taking away from everything you girls are saying: I agree!!! However, I love this place?? and yes I complain about the cost like everyone else.

I live in Ontario and everything is expensive and Toronto is really boring. We have lots of transit projects but they are all delayed. We have too much politics in Canada. Quebec is too frenchy, our National Train Service VIA Rail is outrageously expensive

people care less about the topics you have highlighted here. for an example LGBT rights doesn't play a huge role in day to day life of a person who is not identified as one, legalizing weed, how less religious people are etc are not even things that makes up to top 5 priorities. Canada is WAAY more expensive than USA (and most of the developed countries), its infrastructure is way subpar than of USA (or even some developing countries) and lets not even talk about the joke of a healthcare system in Canada. to see a GP people has to stay in the queue for 3 MONTHS!!!! THREE MONTHS!! its pathetic after paying so much taxes and getting a healthcare service thats worse than a third world country! and why do you not talk about the fact insurance plays a huge role here if you want ANY kind of a service without staying for months until your stage 1 cancer grows to a stage 4 :)

All factors go to in favor of Canada other than difficulties in finding a job in their field of training for new immigrants and very expensive housing.

Minimum wage in canada is twice the minimum wage in the US.\nSo when you say everything is so expensive here, that is very misleading.\nCanadians can afford rent here but in the US there are so many that can't and they end up homeless or committing crimes.

I wish Canada did more R&D. We have the talent and brains to be innovative, yet so many of us go work in the oil & natural gas sector because it pays handsomely.\nAlso to live in the most scenic provinces like BC and Ontario is crazy expensive. We moved from AB to BC in 2009 which my parents bought their house for $550,000 that's situated 40km East of Vancouver, and today their house is valued at 1.4 million... almost 3 times the original purchase price in just over a decade. Now an adult, my wife and I were forced to move back to Alberta and leave our families because we simply cannot afford to rent there nor ever have an honest shot at saving enough money to buy our own place. It is what it is and I'm sure it's a common theme that's not only exclusive to Canada, but man, it does sucks. I'm happy for any immigrants to move here and call Canada their home too, but many are loaded with money and purchase numerous properties just to then rent it out at an absurd rate because they can. It's fueling the problem worst and making it unfair for the born & raised Canadians.

Canada is heavily control by US. All Canadian politicians are pro-US and kind of giving up expanding our trades with other countries. Don't think it would change. Canadian left the country and working in US would likely come back after retirement. As medical would be too expensive for them after retirement.

Althought Canada is a inferior business country relative to US. I have travelled all over Europe South America USA & Canada. I love Victoria BC & Vancouver I think they are both very beautiful places yes sadly expensive, buty I never liked Spain I personally much rather live in either Vancouver or Victoria. These are over $40 billion projects the largest $ projects in the history of Canada.\n Much of Canada's wealth is in the ground. As the world demand increases for rare earth metals, copper, aluminium, steel, nickel, etc Canada is well-positioned to supply world markets. Canadian mining companies operate worldwide and the Canadian miners are both very experienced and good operators. \n You failed to acknowledge that Canada is a major agricultural producer country.
