Why are these international students getting bashed for working delivery, grocery, security jobs? How do you expect a student to be a working as an engineer/doctor/ manager while attending college? Students work for the minimum wage coz they are the only jobs which allows to pick their own schedule. I’ve seen many attending colleges and doing these jobs part time to support their tuition. Moreover, fed govt has increased the student visa work hours cap from 20 to 40 hrs. There is dignity in all kinds of labor.

I lived in Canada for over 20 long suffering cold years. My rent in 1982 in Kamloops for a large two bedroom appartment was 105 bucks a month. Then when I moved back to Toronto and got an apartment right on Young at Grosvenor our rent shot up to a tough 620 bucks a month (all utilities included) but I was making a lot of money so it seemed like the good life. I wonder how expensive that luxury high rise is today? Probably about $4500 per month would be my guess. Canadians don't like to talk of the negatives in Toronto, but I feel really sorry for some of my family still there. My mother in law broke her back. All they could do is give her pain killers for the four months before she could get penciled in for surgery. And that was before it all went to hell. It's nice to see so many shots of places that were once so much a part of my life, but in all honesty moving to the States was the best thing I ever did. It was in fact like an escape from madness. Now similar crazyness is here, even on the South East coast of the US. Time to look for another escape. Any suggestions?\nOh, and my friends cousin got murdered in the Jane and Finch area years ago. I went to Canada in 1993, to Montreal. And after 30 years I was more happy to leave and don't plan to come back. Not the same country anymore. Too much immigration, to expensive, too much taxes ans many others to come, not a good infrastructure (they have no money left ), not good services, crazy gouvernement. And from my point of view the bad is about to come. Bad politics, covid was crazy, it don't worth my time, presence and money.

Canada has become so corrupt. It's also known Canada has become a haven for money laundering and all kinds of schemes like that. These colleges have turned into diploma mills. Their diplomas have no real value anymore. They are churned out solely because of money and it's flooding the market as well. \nHow is this allowed? \nCan you imagine how many Canadian Citizens are DYING because they have to fight against millions of new International students and new coming immigrants each year for a hospital spot.\nWait times at ER as exploded. Tons of new cases where Canadians died waiting for emergency help. This is criminal. \n\nThis is also very bad for the long term Indians that came to Canada many years ago and their kids born in Canada. They are starting to get stigmatized because all Canadians see is insane amount of Indians that barely speak English (that would be the immigrants not the students) and with a housing crisis and it affects Canadians. Guess who the scapegoats are.\nI am telling you these are the unfortunate side effects. Right now all Canadians are hurting. Trudeau and Liberals have to go and PP better not even TRY to keep this going.

I rode the city bus in my city 13 years ago daily and it came once an hour and was barely ever occupied. Now its got 3 times as many buses on the same route and they are always packed... with THEM!

[ Coming from a student ] - Nobody is to Blame beside THE GOVERNMENT! They mislead many international students to come here without even checking if the Colleges exist! They just kept giving visas to many students and when students reach here then they realize they made a big mistake especially after looking at the present bad economy and giving the tuition money to these money grabbers (GOVERNMENT AND COLLEGES). And to make it worse you have to pay 10k to the banks before coming which is now 20k and then the students pay 3 times the money compared to Canadian students, Which to pay-off, a lot of these students do all kind of jobs for so many hours a weeks just to pay the fees and their living bills. Hence, the reason for them not able to focus on their studies properly, less work for other folks and every other things which is effected. As a Student I was financially fine which was the main reason for my pretty much smooth journey here but not everyone has the same backups. I feel really bad for the students and hope this money grabbing madness stops and the immigration for at least 3- 4 years.....

International students are not, many of them have parents who came to Canada first , then find volunteer work jobs like nonprofits call centres to qualify for working visa, then apply PR, here is the catch, many of those actually financially stronger than local Canadian, cash buying houses, paying high fees for their kids being international students, they compete local first time homebuyers, they don’t actually need a well paying job, they came here for Canadian IDs . These immigrants wave ? isn’t the same as decades ago who fresh off the boat had to go schools or job market to survive. Don’t blame international students, their parents came ….

I am Chinese ethnic was born in Höng Kong but moved to Singapore in 1984. \nAt that time I could have migrated to Canada or Australia. I am an electrical engineer with a master’s degree and have worked in the States for some time before moving to Singapore. I could have settled in the States as well if I really wanted to. But having studied and worked in the States for some time, I realised it’s not my place. Culture difference, racial discrimination, political ideology to name just a few. So I moved to Singapore which had a job for me. I have no regrets. The country has a very efficient government, housing, medical, education needs are pretty well taken care of, not perfect but good compared to many developed countries. Crime rate is among the lowest. I believe If you have the talents you can try to apply for immigration here. Also Höng Kong which has a similar standard of living is also offering good opportunities to world talents to settle over there.

I saw many times the ads about Canadian Dream here in YouTube. It looks beautiful and promising, but turned out the reality is not like that. I wonder why their government encouraging people to immigrate to Canada but not really ready to accept them.

I don't think the problems you're describing are a uniquely Toronto issue (many cities across the world are having an affordability crisis - Toronto's is bad, but not unique). I think it's also a lasting effect from COVID (especially on the mental health side). I do sympathize with Chow - seems like the city isn't getting much help from the feds who are allowing mass immigration without any infrastructure or services to support it (see 10.5% proposed property tax hike in order to keep the city afloat after Tory). All in all, think the city needs a bit of time to heal after the past few years but I'm optimistic it'll get there.

I agree with all of what you said, of course it’s a result of still the 2008 crash people have not recovered then they were hit by COVID-19 then after COVID-19, both Canada and America have drained their money into the Ukraine war, after that now Canada is draining its reserve into the clash in the mid east, trying to walk in line with America again, but they have America have US dollar which is backed by most of the world even though America is suffering now they are now on 33 trillion deficit, and it is continuing, many economist, they say if it wouldn’t be, America are printing the dollar if it would’ve collapsed long time ago, America is involving itself around the world and that cost huge money but it is unfortunate that Canada it’s trying to follow with it which means higher taxes and higher cost in the trillions

US family here. We were a big downhill skiing family, and often spent our winter vacations in the Laurentians. The exchange rate was great back in the 1990s and early 2000s. So when the time came to start looking at colleges, our daughter already associated Canada with fun, and fell in love with the University of Toronto. She was accepted. But before Canada would issue her a student visa, we had to provide evidence that we could pay full tuition, room, and board out of pocket. For all four years! They wanted an iron guarantee that she would never become a ‘ward of the state’ or consume public assistance services. We had to jump through soooo many logistical hoops for her to attend, it was exhausting to facilitate. But she graduated with honors in four years. All that time, the city was beautiful, clean, and vibrant, though not inexpensive. The St. George main campus, Queen’s Park, Bloor, Yongue Street, more. Everyone we met was friendly and respectful. We very rarely saw homeless and never tent communities. And crime seemed almost nonexistent except for bicycle thefts. Our daughter made many international friends and forged great relationships she carries to this day. So many wonderful memories. So it’s heartbreaking to hear how downhill the city has become. And the US is no different. It’s all in the politics, and neither Trudeau’s nor Biden’s policies are helping.

I worked for an international airline for many years and visited Canada and most cities in Canada including Toronto many times, unfortunately it has gone the way of all extreme progressive liberal cities throughout the west. The decline is truly shocking

As a Jewish “cousin” living in the Southern US, I can definitely appreciate your concerns, especially those related-to the cold, inflation, religious observance, indoctrination, and an over-bearing government…. Assuming that they would be supportive and good role models, are your children’s grandparents still alive? Would living near them be an option? Are any uncles, aunts, and cousins available at any potential locations? Suggestion: Some dear friends sold their dream home and left their long-time friends last year to move across the country to live in a property that they had inherited. These friends eventually admitted that they were MISERABLE in their new location and now (12-14 months later) have returned to their “home state.” Unfortunately, their choices have turned-out to be very “costly” in many ways….. Since your children are involved, you may want to consider giving any potential location a 6-12 month “test run” before making an “official” decision….. I was born and raised in Canada (Montreal /Ottawa) to Haitian immigrants and I decided to permanently leave Canada in 2021 with my family for many of the same reasons you conveyed. I have moved around the US quite a bit (I've lived in every time zone except Mountain, including Hawaii). Moving to a totally different place is always exciting to me. Even if you eventually find that it is not where you want to stay forever, it is worth the experiences, and the growth you get from having to learn new things. If you are considering the US, some of the things you don't like about Canada, is probably true here as well. It seems like you can probably make more money down here, but the cost of living is still expensive here, and many, many Americans also live paycheck to paycheck. I wish the best for you.

This is pretty funny. I'm Canadian and my best friend is an economist working for the government on demographic issues full time. Just has an FYI canada has seen its highest immigration rate in the past 50 years last year. I can also see and feel all the immigrants moving in the job market. I'm not so sure why those videos keep being produced. This country is not perfect but it's better than many other places in the world. For example, canada is barely affected by climate change because we already have resilient infrastructure. When it comes to housing it's not so much that the governement does not allow for more building than the fact that it's hard to build affordable homes because the homes in canada require a lot of work due to the nature of the climate. (Has a trained carpenter and GC I know.) It's also very far from all of the world's chaos. All those emerging wars will affect Europe directly but all we get are some small economic backlashes. Anyhow, I've been living here for my whole 31 years of life and I've enjoyed the place and its peace. What I dislike is the cold and the lack of sun. A big part..........at least here in Vancouver why the healthcare system is broken here is due to the ongoing opioid crisis. The downtown eastside where many of the homeless and drug addicts live is known as the vortex because it sucks in all 1st responders across the lower mainland. Yet when someone who lives somewhere else in the city needs an ambulance you are screwed. Last year I had to wait over 8 hours for an ambulance........I live less then 10 minutes away from the nearest hospital. Because I couldn't move I had to sit there while my roommate had to call 9-11 over a dozen times to get me an ambulance. Doctors are even telling people to take a cab to the hospital if they can walk, because it's faster. \n\nAnd even when I finally got to emergency I had to wait hours to get looked at. The doctor didn't see me for almost 6 hours while i'm lying there screaming in pain. And this was on a Tuesday night, not even a weekend.

For people commenting about house helps and maids being available in India, is it a healthy thing? The reason even middle class in india boasts about maids is the overpopulation of unskilled people and no minimum wages act that prevents exploitation of those house maids. Let government fix a minimum wage of 25000 for a full time maid and then see how many of us are able to afford them?

Nobody said this so I have to; Canada is a country like most western country sell hope for people; however many, not all who comes over these western country find themselves in a hard place; with broken family; broken kids, and just work, work, work, and pay pay pay... when they work all their life, and get old; most have nothing to show for; their kids are too busy for them, most end up alone in a nice place; eventually, they will realize all they have is a nice jail, and kids, and the Gov;t just wait to get all their asset when they past. Sad Reality. There was a time when one get old are surrounded by their family; kids, grand kids, etc... Its now gone!

While there might be wonderful places to see, and interesting people to meet and food to eat, I would never even visit there for more than a day or 2.\n\nSome times traveling by road, it is faster to drive through the states to get to other parts of Canada, and that level of visiting would be barely ok.\n\nYour government is actively making it unsafe to be alive there, for so many types of people. Canada can be a really hard place to live. Too many people competing for limited resources- story as old as time. But throw in large immigrant population whose culture is a mismatch for existing infastructure. You are going to get growing pains.\nBTW, the so called studies /polls/surveys are a joke. This is my 13th year in Canada, I am so sad to see the change, I really hope it will become a better country again with Trudeau stepping down. But we also have to be fair that there are not many countries become better since COVID. Many of you leaving or planning to leave Canada are more like rich country retirees taking advantage of the wage and currency differences between rich and poor countries. So let’s put it this way, if many of you have not worked your whole life here in Canada, will you still have a quality of life in your home countries, such as Southeast Asia or South America? I doubt majority of the population there is make a good money and having great work life balance, and everyone there could afford a decent retirement life. what is more close to nowadays reality is people coming here and hoping they could have a better paid job and settle down here, but most of them found out they are struggling to even maintain their normal life in this country, so they left. For those who came years ago, they made a saving which may not be enough to support a good retirement life here, but is more than enough in other countries, they also choose to flee. Then those successful immigrants will stay here with the option to travel anywhere they want. My son's classmate's grandfather immigrated to Canada long time ago who later become a well known cardiologist and was rewarded as one of the top 25 immigrants Award, all three daughters are now specialists too. I really hope Canada could rise again!

In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no culture, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, only modern slavery, worst healthcare system, unbearable political correctness, crime infested/drug infested, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become a North Korea style dictatorship in the western world.\n\nTheir are many reasons why Canada has fallen apart. But the number one reason is ‘multiculturalism’. My friends, multiculturalism simply does not work. Different cultures do not come together and mix, different cultures come together and clash. The world is divided into different countries for a reason: because people hate each other and only want to be with their own kind. The number two reason for Canada’s demise is ‘socialism’. In this modern era of aging populations, it is mathematically impossible for socialism to continue. The government does not have the money to take care of old people and provide healthcare, pensions and the various other benefits, even with the astronomical taxation that burdens hard working Canucks. Well Canada, you had a good run. Time for Canucks to move to an emerging country. We welcome you here in Southeast Asia.

As a Canadian, born and raised, I am much more proud to be a Canadian than if I were to be a U.S. or U.K. citizen, given the way they are regarded in most of the word. I have travelled Europe extensively, Central America, as well as parts of SE Asia. \n\nCanada is indeed expensive and has become moreso because we too easily accept the rising prices, just so we can feel good being a Canadian. Tipping culture is ridiculous, even for bad service, many feel the need to tip 15% because of fear of being regarded as a cheapskate or avoiding offending the service provider. Companies should be paying their staff a better wage where 20%+ tips are not expected for every restaurant, cafe or delivery service. We're helping corporations make more profit by subsidizing their staffing expense. This isn't the case in most of the world. \n\nMy eyes were opened when I saw how you can live an equally good life at a third or less of the cost and I have grown open to the idea of living elsewhere once I have enough money to retire early (I'm talking around 55) and enjoy life without feeling cash-strapped. World class private medical care can be found for prices that are unbelievable and without the multiple appointments and wait times.\n\nI will always be a Canadian first, but there is room for a second citizenship or a backup plan should living in Canada become an impossible place to live or retire, unless you begin with a financial advantage. By no means am I poor, either. I got lucky with both real estate and stocks. Yet, I feel like I am working to just get by, while being taxed well beyond what I am getting in return.

Who cares why you left... Canada is a great country and not so far gone to have it back on the right track. Sure everyone likes to bitch about something, it's human to complain when your having a bad day,week, or month. Even in the darkest times humans find the ray of sunshine and start to chase it knowing that it will be better in the future. To make a video that you had to leave ...who cares, your mom or family or friends. Did you think about the thousands of Canadians who went to war to fight for what you have today? Respect is lacking for many young people in many countries. Canada needs to stop thinking it has to fix all the problems immediately like some fix it pill. Band aids are for first aide not solving complex issues. Issues should be sounded out by Canadians for Canadians and only then we can start to logically and with forethought address issues using our great minds to solve issues with the future in mind. Leaving Canada is not using your talents to help your country who gave you everything up till now, it's opting out of assisting your forefathers in completing the growth and direction of your children's future and the future of Canadian society. Have a nice vacation because the world outside of Canada is not your home...it's just a hotel.

Yeah job security is an important factor I think those of us who are in IT and have been 'sacked' as someone here in another comment mentioned feel the brunt when you know that Canadian companies are looking elsewhere for cheaper labor. I think it's after something like this happens when you really think about things such as Unions and the seemingly open door to qualified immigrants who would take a lower paid job just to get a foot in the door. Hey, it happened to me many years ago so why would it be different. Interesting times indeed.

Consider moving to Kosovo-it is a majority Muslim population that is western oriented but also traditional in a cultural sense (not necessarily a religious sense). Although it is majority Muslim, there are secular Muslims as well as Catholics and Orthodox Christians who live in peace. You can hear the call to prayer five times a day and see observant Muslims without it being all consuming like somewhere in the Middle East. Since you are from Canada, you might find it a little suffocating to move to some place like Saudi Arabia, even if you are observant Muslims. Finally Kosovo has a very cheap cost of living, many people speak English, and you can be on the beaches of Greece within a few hours drive. Probably not on your radar so just a thought.

Yes. The western way of life is not perfect and hard for a true Muslim believer. They have hard time to accept the other, especially gender wise as spoken by this lovely couple, eloquently. They don't even want their kids to know that God creates many different views and walks of life. \nThat is where the problem lies.

In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no culture, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, only modern slavery, worst healthcare system, unbearable political correctness, crime infested/drug infested, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become a North Korea style dictatorship in the western world.\n\nTheir are many reasons why Canada has fallen apart. But the number one reason is ‘multiculturalism’. My friends, multiculturalism simply does not work. Different cultures do not come together and mix, different cultures come together and clash. The world is divided into different countries for a reason: because people hate each other and only want to be with their own kind. The number two reason for Canada’s demise is ‘socialism’. In this modern era of aging populations, it is mathematically impossible for socialism to continue. The government does not have the money to take care of old people and provide healthcare, pensions and the various other benefits, even with the astronomical taxation that burdens hard working Canucks. Well Canada, you had a good run. Time for Canucks to move to an emerging country. We welcome you here in Southeast Asia.

Many of your numbers are wrong sweetie. Here are the facts;\n2 years ago, you would go to IGA (where food is fresh but it is pricey), you would get out with 2 bags of groceries for about 120$. Today, it is 180$ for the same 2 bags. this is NOT a 10% increase... but almost the double in price!\n\nRent, in Quebec province, have gone from around 1,000$ to 2,400$ in less than 5 years, and each time a tennant leave his place, the landlord rise (against the law but nobody can do anything) the rent often by 25 to 40%!!! The Demand is so high, that he can refuse you for any reason (including racism, children, pet, smokers) he can think of. Again, this is against the common law but in truth, there is nothing anybody can do, unless you can bring him to court, which takes lots of money...\n\nSo in reality, from the last 5 years, almost everything has double in price and salaries have barely start to rise (mostly due to unions who revolted) but if you are not part of one, your salary basically stayed the same.\n\nA very good advice, don't come to Canada. There is no 'dream' here anymore. it is hell. And even if you find a decent job, you will be ask to do the job of 4 peoples and taking your vacation will be near impossible without losing it. If you are not dying in your country, don't come here. I knew some people that came here from France, and although the situation is bad in France, it is still easier to live in France than here and so, they returned.\n\nWe are called a social-communist country by US standard, but the truth is, we have never been so far away from it. We are now into a company distopia that have monopoly on prices, control over any legislations, and our government steal money from its citizen to give it to companies so they grow artificially without giving any more good jobs to people. I foresee a citizen unrest if not, a revolt, in the near future. The domestic violence is reaching new heights, and if you don't believe me, just look at the current news; this last 2 days have seen 2 women beaten to death by their husbands... and that is just the point of the iceberg we see... People are stressed, angry, broken, and even if we keep making jokes ( that is how we are...) we are all worried about the future of Canada.

I like what she says about her grandchildren, in future years, may have to leave wherever they go now… alluding to the possibility (I believe) that perhaps there is no permanently perfect place… I can understand how they would appreciate living somewhere where the daily prayers are announced 5 times daily over loudspeaker. I often feel so very isolated in myself in MY way of life here in Canada (which doesn’t happen to be as a Muslim). After all, we are the “cultural melting pot,” and so many people of different cultures have come here and tried to make a life work for them. Canada is seen as “a land of dreams” by many, but it depends on what our dreams are, for real. For instance, what were many immigrants hoping for when they fled Europe after World War II? This family is telling us what they dream for their family, and Canada is not a good fit for what they value.

Respecting people's rights to choose what they believe and practice - but saddened that so many people\nfollow religions and do not truly research the symbolism, the history, the connections - no one should \nbe attacked for wearing a head covering etc - at the same time Muslims, like many other religious\ngroups just follow what the leaders say - and - if they truly researched they would find out that \nfollowing men and clerics is not wise and not even what our Creator wants for us.\n\nI was raised in a large world wide accessible religion - then, when I saw and heard things that\ndid not add up - I prayed for truth and then pro-actively researched - I compared the teachings\nof that religion from materials with in and from out with - and drew my conclusions - I also\nbeleive that I was led to find some very useful information not of myself - I learned enough\nto make an informed decision to leave that religion. My journey after that has not been an\neasy one as there is a lot of conflicting information and factions in this world - but over time\nmy original decision has been re-enforced by facts - I also came across the origins of Islam\nand who controls it - and that would be a surprise to many - and likewise would surprise\nother people in other religions ( including the popular New Age / Eastern Mystic religions)\nare all run by the same group world wide - and The New Age / Eastern Mysticism have\nbeen marketed as some kind of non religious freedom - but are, in fact religions with\ndogmas and leaders.\n\nThe Truth has set me free - I continue to study and to have faith alone in our Creator alone\nand I try to continue to learn what I can about the world and about spiritual things - to aid\nmy understanding and discernment.
