As a Canadian, I want to say that we love our American friends and neighbours. We are proud to call you our closest ally, and our shared history and relationship is cherished by all Canadians. Until now. The fact that we are being treated worse than authoritarian threats like Russia or China is beyond insulting. We don’t deserve this. We don’t want this. \n\nTo my European friends, please urge your governments to buy Canadian goods and support free trade between our nations. We love our EU friends as well, and we have wares to sell!

Look at everything he has done to the FBI, CIA, NATO and America’s Ally’s. This President is controlled by Putin. There is no other explanation that makes sense.

As an American I totally support Canada who has been our long time friend and ally.

Kudos to Trudeau for giving an elegant speech. I did not vote for Trump, aka Felon #47, for obvious reasons. He is a racist, unfit for the office and a damn FELON! Trump does not speak for all USA citizens. Many of we Americans also want to be friends and allies and are totally against the Trump policies. Remember, he only won the election by 1.47% of voters with 89.2 million eligible (unbelievable) voters not bothering to voting. USA is worth fighting for!

I'm a Republican conservative who hasn't recognized this party for the last ten years. True conservatives would have rallied alongside Democrats against Russia. True conservatives valued patriotism, not populism. True conservatives valued family, not the widely accepted sexual scandals behind Trump and Musk. True conservatives valued solidarity with our allies, not scorning them. \n\nTrue conservatives were reasonable, warm, and cared about our country. What they call conservatives today, I do not recognize at all. I must not be a conservative anymore.

The United States has become an unreliable world leader and trading partner, which will not put America first. The USMCA trade agreement between Canada, Mexico, and America, initially brokered and lauded by Trump as “terrific,” is now being scraped. The stated reason, a national security threat due to fentanyl originating from the Canadian border (approximately 43 pounds in 2024), is bogus. This pretend “security threat,” allows Trump to circumvent congressional oversight and undermine constitutional norms. Canada's historical contributions to the United States are extensive, including WWI, fighting Hitler in WWII for two years before they joined the fight, declaring war against Japan WWII after Pearl Harbour before America did, was 25% of D-Day’s landings, support during the Iranian hostage crisis, after 9/11, in Afghanistan, and during natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina and California wildfires. However, Canada is now being treated transactionally, with a lack of respect to a historical friend and ally.

Historically speaking, walls on borders have been used to effectively keep people *_in_* and not out! Does anyone remember the iron curtain? \nWe're not going to have any trading partners left in the world, because we have turned our back on all of our traditional allies...\nHoly shit... We need to do this before they plung us into civil war.\n\nWhen we are poor and struggling, we tend to voice our frustrations within our communities and turn on one another. This isn't the time for that! No matter how you voted. No one voted for this! Put your differences to the side. Price hikes, unemployment and being cut off from resources will not discriminated based on your race, religion, economic status or citizenship.

Why does he think Canada' is America closest Ally?

I’m an American. I admire Canada as an Ally and neighbor. I can’t imagine a better international neighbor to have. The people there are kind and strong. The Trump administration is single-handedly trying to tear down alliances. To what end? Most likely self enrichment. I’m hoping for a normalization of relations as soon as possible. I don’t want a trade war, or any kind of war with Canada. ?? ??

Their relationships with allies and friends, North and South, have been strained, global allies have grown skeptical of the United States, and everywhere the US has given away its soft power, a vacuum was created that will now be filled with China or Russian influence. Never have I ever wanted more than I do now to move to Canada. What a lucid, professional and accurate depiction of what is really going on.
