Why are rents so high? This is a part of it. All landlords must include the risk of not getting paid for years. All renters pay for people like this. Leftist policies hurt everyone.

If you go to a store and you don't pay, you don't get the goods. it's kind boggling how a tenant refuse to pay the rent and can stay so many years, imagine this person keep doing that for every place she succeeded getting the unit??

This is absurd, she didn't pay rent she should be booted in a month. If the tenant board can't sort themselves out vigilantism is coming to a country near you, our legal system can't take care of it, people will start to take care of it themselves.

Look, the challenging housing market is not this man's problem to fix. He rented his home out, they agreed on terms, she violated them repeatedly. What do you want from him, hes a charity?? He's just a man with a home. He shouldnt be demonized. Anybody can do the same if they want to. This is the simplest concept in society. You dont pay, you leave. I dont know what people are going on about saying he should know the risks, like he's a fool.

How can people afford to pay rent? They end up setting up tents in the streets....they shouldn't have let housing prices go up in BC years ago....

The girl who hasn’t paid her rent for 4 years is a underwriter for a mortgage company. I can’t believe that!
2024-08-09 0
I personally don't believe foreign citizens should own real estate when we have a housing problem. Renting shouldn't be a life long dream but ownership of a home is.

Call me crazy….I really don’t care about some slum lord getting taken for their money. Same people who rent out 1 bedroom apartments to 8 people

I've got behind on my rent in the past. \nI lived out my last month's rent. \nI'm sorry to the landlord I couldn't pay $2,400 in 2 months. \nBut I left so I gave them no further aggravation and problems so we could all move on. \nI put myself on the street and lost everything. \nEventually I got back on my feet got my own place. \nNot keeping these good landlords supporting me. \nI love this man he sounds like a good man good luck sir you're the kind of immigrants we need in this country to have full-time citizenship you work so hard to get where you are today❤

Only big landlords with staff can really run rentals. Mom and pop landlords have no respect and are targeted. Well, Millennials need to pay higher rents. Everybody ends up paying for theft. So many homeless in southwestern Ontario right now. Bad tenant culture right now. They ride high on abuse but then no one wants them.

Renting is the worst business in Canada. And the Toronto, Ontario and Canada Governements wonder why there is shortage of rental accommodations. I can easily accommodate one family in my home. But I know if there is an epidemic like Covid and the tenant does not pay the rent, I will be screwed. And rather than have a plan that can enable a tenant own a home, the Governments mentioned have plans that will make the landlord bankrupt and become a tenant! The tenancy laws are bad, bad, bad!

Result of rent control. Keep voting for socialist governments.
2024-08-09 0
I would evict her using FORCE. \nHowever, being a condo owner and charging more than 2000$ for rent is absolutely not a good business. \n\nLiving in Toronto is unaffordable.

Before Ford took office, cases were heard before the Landlord Tenant Board in a matter of weeks. Now there is a backlog of months and Ford is allowing it to happen. During the pandemic, Ford told tenants that they didn’t have to pay rent. Many landlords are exiting the rental market; thus contributing to the shortage of rental units. Ford asked developers to build more in an effort to alleviate the shortage. Over 70% of condo units are bought by mom and pop investors, many of whom are gun shy after hearing horror stories about the LTB. Without the lion share of investor buyers, developers are reluctant to build more condos. The Ford government has no clue.

Hey it's the plebs fault as always that rent is high. Yes yes it is. Y'all just aren't a faction that often.
2024-08-09 0
Sametime pls control the rent in apartment and building price tooo..Rental should be controlled in control board..Govt should control that also?
2024-08-09 0
There should be powers to evict a tenant based on not paying rent, 41,000 are you kidding me that’s disgusting that it is allowed to happen. Police should be called as she is stealing services.\nDo you think the bank cares about the payment from the mortgage on the first of the month, nope they want their money that man has the right to protect his investment

The landlord and tenant board is the reason why many won't rent and hence contributes to the housing shortage
2024-08-09 0
Most of the landlord here now don't even know the laws in this country. Maybe before they can rent property there should learn our laws.
2024-08-09 0
And people wonder why rent is high (not saying this is the only reason)
2024-08-09 0
With renters Like this....they deserve to be on the street...stop renting to them, scrutinize everything about the renters application....they don't like it....rent somewhere else
2024-08-09 0
I hope potential landlord keep an eye out for these two and not rent to them, people like these make it bad for good tenants.

Canada is fu@ked! Tenants can't afford to live! Landlords can't afford to not receive the rent money! The entire system is broken.

bro thought being a landlord is a money farm. the girl is in the wrong for sure but we need her side of the story to fully understand the situation. perhaps she's doing what my friend had to just to finally get the attention from the landlord to solve issues in the building. my friend had to go 8 months not paying his rent (keeping that money separately to please lawyers) just so a landlord would get in contact with him about his apartment ceiling caving in forcing the dudes family to live out of their living room. this landlord just wants to retire, i bet the building has major issues thats being ignored.

My advise to landlords, do not rent to “such” people. Newcomers on work permits or student visas are a better bet because they will pay out of fear of losing their credit or status in Canada
2024-08-09 0
No way !! She doesn't pay her rent and/or utilities then she is out the door. Just as simple as that. She doesn't have anywhere else to go? That's not the landlords problem. I can see maybe one month in arrears but anything more than that you're out the door.

This is an example why the rental options will become worse, more expensive and more difficult to find. I used to have 3 doors (rent out three units) but as it became more difficult to collect rents, hold renters to account, I sold them and moved on. As more small landlords like me get discouraged and get out of the business, the fewer options that will be out there - only the big companies will be in the market and prices will rise.

My landlord has like 10 properties that he uses illegally in things like airbnb and renting on cash. On just the top floor, there are like 10 people and I am paying like $1650 for a single room with ensuite washroom. This landlord subleases the house for things like airbnb and he is not even the owner and yeah basically, Canada is country where all the con men come from around the world where they have learned to find loopholes in the system come to practice it here. We can't even dream of having a house of our own because these people with crazy money just buy up all the properties. 1 man ends up having so many houses where others can't even buy 1 and so we have to resort to paying rent/morgage of these people who keep multiplying their properties.

You have complete control who you rent to….\nBeware of those grifters that are only here to take advantage.

I live in a suburban area with a lot of townhouses around. This goes on all the time with rental houses too. People move in and immediately start to milk the system. They leave after a year of not paying rent and trashing the house too.
2024-08-09 0
My god how lucky am I? Tenant always paid rent on time and moved out when I asked them to.
2024-08-09 0
The tenants have all the leverage. It takes 6 to 8 months just to get a hearing. They jump from one unit to another without paying much rent.
2024-08-09 0
The usual suspects\n\nAnd you wonder why why landlords don’t rent to certain demographics
2024-08-09 0
Imagine living rent free for years ? shame on her.
2024-08-09 0
Few tips for landlords:\n1. Do 6 month lease and take post dated cheques for future rents.\n2. After 6 months, keep renewing lease agreement on 3 monthly or 6 monthly basis considering tenant's overall behaviour.

Most jurrisdictions in North America treat rent as a civil issue while if one walked into a bank or a store and stole $2000, the full weight of the law would fall on them. A few US states have turned rent theft and squating as a criminal matter, which is what the provinces should do. Both tenants and owners need protections, and quite frankly, tenants need owners to provide them with a place to rent. The tenants act protects tenants from criminal owners, more is required to protect owners from criminal tenants.
2024-08-09 0
The solution is not to rent your place at all.
2024-08-09 0
Pay your own rent

I feel so bad for this landlord. No one should go through that. 41k in rent? That’s insane.
2024-08-09 0
This is why you should never rent to anyone if you don’t have to.
2024-08-09 0
Always them, this is abuse yes refusal to pay rent is not good.
2024-08-09 0
I wonder why there is a shortage of available rentals.\nStories like these make people think twice about renting out the spare basements
2024-08-09 0
Stop renting then. 1 property, 1 family home. No rentals.
2024-08-09 0
neighbor rented a house to a couple she was a teacher he was a nuclear power worker both good paying jobs they paid first and last and nothing more for 2 years he ended up paying them $10000.00 to move out so he could sell it before he lost it ....the LTB isnt on the landlords side this is why rentals are hard to find.....better off to use air band b or not rent at all
2024-08-09 0
This should not happen , why do they let them get away with this. You rent a place you pay or you’re out after 6 months. \nIt’s getting ridiculous how some people take advantage of owners , laws need to change to protect both tenant and owners. \nSquatters can move into your house and you have to spend money on lawyers to get them out while they live rent free. \nWake up government and pass some laws to give police the right to evict these losers.

Most of these Vice “wokies” can’t even afford to pay rent (let alone buy a house) in major European cities and now the want the whole developing world to come to Europe. ?
2024-08-09 0
How much is the rent? Maybe he's the criminal?!
2024-08-09 0
We all know you can live for free in Canada… don’t rent!

This has nothing to do with housing crisis. She’s a scammer and is NOT paying rent while living in a high end facility.
