This is missing SOOOO much of the actual story of what is going on over here. There is a lot of corruption in our housing market fueled by faked incomes just for starters. That's not including the massive supply and demand crunch we are facing on multiple fronts from having too much people suddenly, to having not enough housing suddenly. For those curious, you can find some CBC marketplace videos that cover some of this from a couple years back. The banks have been caught f'ing around as well, what with pushing through mortgage requests that should never have been allowed to occur; and that's just what we know about. \n\nNo offense to anyone in this video, or anyone else like them. We know that a good large chunk of most of you are not at fault here with what's going on. But there are some people from all sorts who are all doing their own dirty little deeds, and they are culminating into the gigantic pile of BS that the rest of us now get to deal with. \n\nAnd make no mistake, what I am saying is not even close to the full extent of the BS going on. This is just one facet of it. There still is the universities mentioned that we need to talk about, whom have been fleecing internationals for years now. Or our employers who have gotten real used to having access to basically almost slave labor by comparison the wages and employees they would have to normally deal with. \n\nAnd again, none of this is being said to blame those who come here looking for a better life. If anything, I want to apologize for the BS you found here as well, that was well hidden by the BS masters who got you to come here. \n\nBut just like how oxygen feeds a fire without necessarily meaning to... well... let's just say that a downturn in applications is a really good thing for us right now. \n\nCome if you want, but don't come unprepared. Healthcare suddenly became a huge problem. Few young people can ever buy a house. even a garbage house can cost a million dollars in major cities. Pensioners cannot even just pay rent ($2,000 for a one bedroom) or their basic pension. Nobody has a good solution for the homeless. Billions of dollars are being sent to foreign countries for some reason. Many degrees outside of doctor or lawyer don't get people jobs.

Try Australia…..it is just the same, a vast broken system, pot holed roads, not much infrastructure, no secure jobs, unaffordable housing. Our saviour is China, it buys all our produce, so basically a single market. $2700 average rent in Toronto. Grocery prices have over doubled since 2021. Taxes are rising. Interest rates are out of control in relation to home prices. $50K annual salary today is basically a $25K annual salary in 2021.

Canada, Australia, New Zealand, USA, and the UK have simply become nightmare for immigrants who are lured by the commission agents for a better future. The government of the five countries pretty much allows the immigration scams to flourish because more people simply mean more money and cheap labor. Basically, it's an indirect slavery into a trapped system that completely destroys your ability to get out of it. These five countries do not have an organic ecosystem to grow in a self sustainable way. These are largely consumer societies depending on the import of goods and food. The import of people generates more tax to keep these countries going. In a nutshell, extreme dirty capitalism will destroy these countries soon.

So basically, in the best economic years there was little investment in the future across the entire West... Boomers... We might need to lower their pensions to pay for the crappy world they left us.

I will be leaving Canada this October. A country where its citizens cant afford home, food, or basic necessaties should not be called developed country anymore.

Its not just Canada, I live in the UK and the crime is also up among other things like costs for basic stuff like food and transport.\nThe only thing going down is the standard if living.

I met a immigrant worker the other day. Educated, well spoken, but she was working security. She told me at one point 'I came here to get ahead, now I struggle to live a basic life.'. People used to come here to opportunity. Now they come to struggle less than they did in their own country.

Lived in Canada entire life. If no change in Government next election, will do everything in my power to leave. Biggest issue in Canada is infrastructure. Canadian infrastructure and urban planning is a copy of post war American suburbia abd the results are that it has made housing impossible as the current rules basically has abolished any construction of missing middle housing for the middle class in 90% of Canadian neighborhoods for housing. Infrastructure and services in medium and small cities are nowhere near major city hub making big city centers expensive not even mentioningthe terrible public transportation they have ( for a G7 nation is an embarrassment that their passenge rail service is 40 years behind Europe) . In addition foreign degrees even from English nations are not recognized and it takes years and resources to get accreditation.

Re Indian students as a former teacher I have to also say that many Indian students coning here are lacking the basics. I also found that students educated in US states like Florida and Texas were around two grades behind. Many Indian studenrs here have high expectations but poor background and inadequate English language skills. It is a shame that people are getting into Canada with false documentation and credentials. Also they are enrolling in very dubious schools and it is no surprise that they find life here very difficult. Hopefully the Canadian government will take greater care to see that only suitable candidates are allowed to come to Canada as students. Also students from other countries should avoid coming here if they don't really have sufficient skills and should make sure that they are choosing reputable educational institutions. There are lots of private institutions with fancy names. Don't be fooled.

Yes. Canada is not like what used to be as a good country to immigrate to in mid or late 1970s. Unfortunately, job opportunities, salary, wages have not kept us with high cost of living in cities like Toronto and Vancouver. Also, road infrastruture have not kept 12:12 up with population growth. People should do research, check out more before immigrating to Canada these days. If you are moving to Canada for peace and political stability, then yes. Otherwise, think twice! Also, the requirement for Canadian employers to ask for Canadian experience has existed since at least the 70s. But it is absurd and stupid for employers to ask job applicants for Canadian experience since the world is highly interconnected through internet these days. Provided you are working in western world or English speaking countries, job functions and management styles are basically very similar whether it is high tech industry, banking, investment companies etc.

Many people who have commented with negative sentiments are not really aware how it's elsewhere especially in poor countries. If someone is looking a basic life, definitely you can manage a job , basic amenities and lot of safety. If someone is looking good quality life with decent savings , that's possible provided if he or she take additional degree and start working in intermediate roles regardless of the business. Having certain specific religious background could help since this society gives lot of importance to your religious background, whether you believe it or not. I am not saying society is intolerant but admin is highly biased. Income tax is there in almost all OECDs, if you are still not liking it , well, you know who to elect next time .

let's be honest as an international student I am in awe of how some internationals can study in Canada when they can't even speak English properly .. when I came here I needed to pass IELTS and get a band 7 for everything all my documents and transcripts were directly sent from the official email of my institution. I need to pass an exam before enrolling for my course, I have criminal, abuse registry, and child registry checks in my country and even when I am in Canada. Did all the immunizations needed and abide by their law i need to submit all these documents every 6 months access. to the policy of the program I am doing. And as an international remember you are coming to Canada they have their own culture so you need to respect and adjust to it, not Canada adjusting to you... even though Canada is diverse they have its own rules so yes adapt to the place where you are. And to them blaming the agency you the people who are using them knew exactly what they were getting into now you are complaining I did all my applications through DIY as IRCC is a direct applicant why need agents for application. Ircc should also question why a person needs an agent to process their applications. If they can't understand basic instruction and basic legal matters would you think those students will be able to survive the education system here in Canada? let's be real a lot of students are taking short-term courses, short like 8 months, and yes to get PR (I wouldn't lie cause that would be hypocrisy all international students have that aim, and if you say no just stay in your country). Good at the end of the day, we don’t need to defund things like police, what we need is to defund school. At this point, it’s a useless system that’s been overdated.
