Sorry to say Canada is a place for youth who can start from scratch n best for refugees, instead getting professionals with experience to start over from scratch. I have seen highly professionals working to very low wage labor jobs. Canadian immigration need to rewrite their immigration structure. Thank God I made my decision on time n came back to my home country n now earning good in my profession or it would have been a disaster if I had not made that decision 2007

I will be leaving Canada within a year or so after declaring non-residency and bring my business with me. My view is that Canada is a good place to live a normal life. Healthcare covers your peace of mind, even if the waitlist is long and bureaucratic. Social benefit is not as generous as people suggest sometimes (at least in Canada unless you're on actual welfare where you can't work but you can't rise your way up easily and you're forever stuck in 1.5k CAD/month... which would be ofc much better than other struggling countries but immigrants often aspire for greater things than that. \n\nEven though I was an Asian immigrant, I never faced significant racism afaik (I could be socially naive however), but there are definitely limitations of opportunities. It's not too difficult to find entry to intermediate jobs, at least for me but that's probably because I did schooling here in Canada. And I was able to network aggressively and learned to be an extrovert, so that also helped. But still, Canadian living cost is high (and I'm saying this from Calgary... imagine what it's like in Vancouver/Toronto). Is it doable? Ofc. 50-70k CAD/year is quite doable ESPECIALLY in Calgary, Alberta. But it'd be difficult to achieve financial independence and true wealth. This is true everywhere ofc but more so in Canada compared to, say, USA where living cost is lower and wage is higher with more opportunities. It's a great place to live normally. If you wanna become exceptional (wealth, customized goods and services, etc), it become harder and costs more. \n\nEven now when I now own business after struggling to get here over 10 years that generates income that I need to achieve financial freedom, tax becomes frightfully bad. Alberta (that imposes lowest tax rate compared to other Canadian provinces (not including territories for obvious reason) is comparable to California in USA that is among the highest in all US states. And let's be real; Alberta is nowhere close of being California. Imagine the taxes in BC/Ontario shiver. \n\nOnce my tax rate becomes high enough to justify moving, I will pull the trigger. Still window-shopping where I wanna go and I have some lists but it's gonna happen especially as Canada will have to deal with their struggling economy, further distancing from US and their government mismanagement that continues to cost the society. I will not have any part in it. I may come back once in a while for visit or potentially retire depending on what the future looks like but right now, I just don't see my longterm future here.

I'm currently planning to immigrate to Canada. As for me, the very reason why I want to move there is to have better life. There are some great points mentioned to this video but for some cases, most especially if you talk about other underpriviledge countries, Canada is much more better. I'm from the Philippines and I would say that our country is suffering from everything. High price of goods, salary for CAD375 minimum (for a month even you're bachelor degree holder), no health benefits (unless you are working in a private company that offers benefits), no educational benefits (I would consider scholarship but that wouldn't enough to survive in every semester that you'll take). Senior Citizens / PWD that only gets benefit from their 20% discount in every purchase they make for medicine and food and seniors sometimes didn't get their pensions... so on and so forth.\n\nI think, it all boils down from what country you came from and differences of the gov't system that they have. And all of us needs to work hard to get a better life. It will always depends on our decision on what lifestyle do you choose or how do you live your life or what life do you want to live.\n\nBut to conclude this, this is a great video. This a great heads up for those who wants to come to Canada.

I often wonder why everybody says Canada is so Great. I think it is mostly political bragging. I'm born here and believe me I do not completely understand canadian thinking. It can be quite immovible and even nonsensical. I say good luck to foreigners trying to understand.

Immigrated from Haiti to Montreal in 2001, I was 22. it was impossible getting work in what I studied but worked odd jobs for a few months. Then I went back to university and got a Masters. Husband went back to university as well and got an accounting degree. I have to say the diplomas worked. We ended getting good jobs in our field and now have very good careers. We have some Haitians friends and after years of effort they are all doing relatively well here in Montreal. So can’t complain work wise as long as you are patient, do what you have to do you should make it. For me the biggest drawbacks are the harsh climate and the difficulty to make Canadian friends but plenty of immigrants to befriend so. Also as an immigrant you need to adapt and a lot of people cannot adapt to a new country and want to have what they had back home here that is not realistic. Immigration is not for everyone. But no regrets.

I can eat cheap food from road side And also have manners to Dine in 5_Star Hotel. I hope you followed me what I am trying to say. a lot can be said about your narrative. you failed to mention the age of immigration. That alone is THE single most important factor on the out come of the exercise . anyone over 40 should not immigrate. second the education and skill set you bring will be a major factor in the out come. Third there is systemic racism after a certain level which one can feel in very job. i strongly believe one should come to Canada, get top quality education and skill, work with top quality people/organizations which should not be more than 5-6 years, then go back home. the long term price of immigration is huge. This country needs hands to work and pay taxes so that their show should go on. The BANKS are the GOD of the land. one can never obtain financial freedom ever. heavily taxed with very poor social bonding even among the same ethnic groups. yes its good for people who do not make it in Pakistan or bring in ill gotten money\ni know so many ex police DMG and others groups who are absconders from Pakistan and living in Oakvill etc. in addition who says it is safe here or it is a corruption free society, ANY body with a second mortgage has got it with fake documents with the help of brokers, the banks , CRA and every body know about it but being a highly HONEST society no one dare say a word! i will not even go into the thing called debt. it is a night mare for the vaste majority. remember Canada is much bigger than GTA

I was adopted by a black family in the 80s amd my parents have been discriminated against so many times its pathetic. My mom even got detained once because a white woman called the police saying she was kidnapping a white baby. They didnt even bother to ask if i knew her b4 they snatched me from her and called the police. THEY were the kidnappers- not my beautiful black mother! And you know what? The tests with the three friends, I'm not saying the racism it exposed doesn't exist, but I'm curious if attractiveness or character plays a factor in this as well (or even more). Getting different rental prices is outrages. Being stalked in a store is just weird, but a couple of checks I wouldn't mind. If nothing ever happens that will stop. Being asked if you can be helped should not be an issue. Although I admit it can be annoying (I rather shop without interference), but as long as they ask politely, being offended by it is your own problem. I almost feel all religion should be completely private. Any suggestion of any religion publicly should be illegal. Christianity/islam etc. You cant discriminate against islam. Its easy for me to say because im an atheist. Islam does appear the most dangerous but it used to be christianity. There are good muslims and good christians but equally ghere are maniacs. Structural racism in Canada continues because of loopholes in the system that allow discrimination against minorities to continue. I will tell you why. Most decisions are made by the individuals workers who are not going by the laws of the Companies and Government Institutions and they use their power to discrimate against you based on their own biases . That is what I have experienced. I hurt my back picking up five residents in a day at work and let me tell you the process has not been easy. Everthing I say to them or paper that I gave to them from my Doctor is not good. Even if they have facts before them you are not to beleive. More strong laws need to be put in place to protect minorities.

The content is really good. But I don't like the way that blue t-shirt guy tried to defame India by saying that the one can't get payoff well in India. Yes it start with low salaries but there are skilled jobs which pays more then any part of the world. It depends on skills and capabilities. To me the biggest problem of people of African origin is not racism. Infact if you called a child who knows colours very well and ask that child to mention the skin colours of that panel there will be brown, pink and barge. Back to my point, people of African origin have failed to be honest with themselves thats the biggest problem. The biggest problem to solve is the family problem. African men and women majority have failed to raise up responsible children because half of the time they are absent from home. Don't tell me they are absent because they have to look for money to feed children. Let us tell our children to stay away from gangs, be at home latest by 6 pm, start recording high grades at school meaning they will be spending much time with books, wait to have sex until they are legally married, start opening businesses and build corporations like Indians and Chinese do. Then this racism issue will just disappear on its own. As long as people of African origin continue to possess the mentality that other races owe them a good life, the problem of racism won't end. I live in Africa and am an African but I see my brothers and sisters North America or Europe majority live very careless lives. Yesterday I was listening to BBC news a chief police officer of African Origin saying on average there were about 65,000 murders within the African Americans community annually. Where is racism in all this. Can't we be ashamed of ourselves. When last did you hear of such statistics in Asian communities in America or Europe. I agreed with Prime Minister about systematic racism but in my view thats not a priority for the African communities. Number 1 is raise responsible children and not weapon fleaks. Number 2 raise responsible children. Number 3 raise a responsible family then we can sincerely address this racism issue because if there are no trouble makers from our homes but only graduates, business owners, responsible youths who do not abuse substances then if we are treated unfairly it can be vividly seen that someone is discriminating against our race.
