Yes, American citizens need to be taken care of first before we let any more people into the country, but let's keep thinking about this... Why are so many people trying to escape Venezuela? Could it possibly be the cripplingly sanctions the US has imposed on Venezuela for decades? There is no better example of how sanctions don't work and only make the population of the country suffer and not the leaders. Why are people trying to leave Mexico, which is a country where guns are 100% illegal? If you guessed violence from the drug cartels being one of the main reasons, good job. Now, why do drug cartels in Mexico even exist? To supply the gigantic appetite that Americans have. Where are the cartels getting their guns from? Once again the answer is Mexico. If you are someone saying Mexico needs to fix itself, just remember that they have the one of the worst neighbors ever. We have no problem giving Israel $3 billion every year and sending our military all over the world to bring democracy to people who never wanted it, but our neighbors to the south? Fuck em. War on drugs? Lol. That's a war America doesn't really want to win.

I crossed the border into Buffalo ALOT growing up and I gotta say, you remind me of the proverbial frog in boiling water. Your country has changed, to the point where my family never bothered to get nexus passes or passports to cross over when those were requirements. My sister got hers to travel to Japan... still has not crossed over. The things we used to go to do there are still there but the whole vibe, experience and culture has shifted so much it feels like a totally different country from 30... even 15 years ago. Do I want to travels to the states? Sure but most of the people need to leave first.

As a American there is a lot of things to say, I want to in the future duel with the uk/eu or Canada. I’m surprised they haven’t talked about the high excelation of racism, and as a Asian person it hasn’t been fun. Until we at the lowest minimum (not my actual minimum) fix our healthcare system is close to nhs that is basically free healthcare payed by your taxes, then I don’t see much people wanting to go to the states; aside from maybe university. There is a lot that plays a role, but in my eyes living in Cali or Portland or Seattle or nyc are the better places. One thing that I’ll say is though we need higher wages, I think that is kinda something we get more at times than other countries to a extent.

And when you mention there’s a lot of religion in the States, what you really mean is there’s only Christianity that dominates the country. In saying that, there’s less social reform in a Christian country than in a diverse country (Canada)? And history in the United States only covers U.S. history lol. I'm neither American or Canadian, I'm Swedish but I lived in LA and Santa Monica from January 2011 to May 2012 (I went to Santa Monica College) and I have to agree with all the people who say no. My reasons are definitely the health care situation. I have diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and medicine for all that and doctor's appointment fees are way to costly even with insuarance (here in Sweden we don't need insurance because our health care is payed for by taxes, and the costs of medicines and doctor's appointments are much lower). Also I'm openly gay and that is much easier to be here in Sweden than in the U.S.. Homophobia is much more common in the U.S., and much more violent.

You keep saying that the US health care system works fine for most people unless something big or unusual happens. That’s not a working system. A health care system should be something that people who need HEALTH CARE can benefit from. If only healthy people who don’t need to use it are okay with it, it’s broken. It’s the equivalent of offering cheap cars to people but only to those who don’t have a driver’s license but, as soon as you get your license, you have to pay top price.

So I just want to say just the fact that you have to think about where you want to live for religious, race or safety reasons that is a problem. As a Canadian that travels/moves for work when I look for a town or a city to live it’s how hard is it to visit family/friends is there hiking/fishing/hunting how long do I have to drive to the kids school. I never look at the crime rates in a city, or the number of school shootings, can I get insurance at the new jobs if needed…. And it’s really sad that most of you do.

I think you need to look at several things before you say most Americans are OK when it comes to health care. First, what proportion of Americans are NOT getting health insurance through their employer? (Hint: it's more than half.) Second how many people feel they must stay in a job they hate just to retain their health insurance? Third, how many Americans go bankrupt every year due to health care costs? (Hint: it's in the hundreds of thousands. This doesn't happen in Canada.)

I’ve lived in both countries in small towns and big cities Hell No Thanks and I would have great insurance. I remember in preschool having to do active shooter drills in the US nope. If you look at stats on gun violence and mass shootings it’s crazy. The US leads by an astronomical amount. Tyler says the US has more access to guns and although I have no idea where to get a gun I think people could get one pretty easily but we don’t need them. I can walk in the dark and not fear for my safety and Canada has only had 3 mass shootings in its whole history. Of course medical, dental, education, women’s rights, maternity and paternity leave, unemployment, help when Covid lockdown happened, clean free water in homes, housing, … on and on. America the “free” is antiquated and no longer true. Education has slid to 30 something in world rankings and Canada is in the top 3. Cost of education, daycare, child benefits ect. I could write paragraphs. Also it’s hilarious when you hear American say oh we’ll just moved to Canada like they can just drive here and settle down?!?there’s a border and you can’t illegally just move here and get a job. If you’ve lived in both countries you’d know the difference. I don’t even want to vacation there anymore since about 10 years or so ago.

So many American's talk about the healthcare they get through their work, but what if you're boss starts treating you badly? A lot of people are doing jobs that they hate only because it gives them healthcare. You might want to start you're own business but you can't because you need the healthcare. And then there is the possibility that you like the healthcare you get through work, then you're boss gets a better deal on healthcare and changes providers. You have no say in that and you could loose some of you're benefits. You're health should not be a carrot that you're employers can dangle in front of you to control you.

I suggest google’n “ school shootings, small town America”…. article after article, when you do, says why most mass school shootings tend to happen in small towns….where nobody expects that they would have happened & how all the residents in those towns are always surprised that they happened in their town. \nI say this as somebody who once loved the idea of moving to the USA. \nMy mom was a single parent and as a result I spent a ton of time as a very young kid in the late 80s throughout the mid 90s in a small town in Oregon on my aunt and uncles dairy farm with my cousins and I absolutely loved it. Truthfully, I still love small-town America and I love the vast majority of the people I have met from small-town America. There is the friendliness and community that I find very similar to prairie farming towns in Canada. \n And as a kid, I loved the focus on high school sports in the small USA town I spent time in and how it brought the community together. It was very exciting to go to my cousins football games—stuff like that was super fun as a kid.\nAs an adult, with 2 young kids of my own now? \nYes, I would be terrified to send my children to any school in the United States, especially knowing that the vast majority of my school shootings do happen in small towns, which is a type of place in the states I would personally like to go to, if I did move. \n\nAdditionally, I will be completely bankrupt at this point given my own health issues as well as my two kids health issues and I’m just in my late 30s. \nAnd I’m not talking to super crazy health issues, but health issues nonetheless. I have asthma that has gone through patches where I’ve had to be hospitalized & I was diagnosed with stage 3 malignant melanoma when I was in my late 20s and pregnant with my 2nd. My first child was born with a congenital heart disorder that was missed through the pregnancy and until she was two, and that involved many many trips to the hospital & various specialists until they figured out what was going on (one of the symptoms was her randomly stopping breathing and going blue, which was terrifying, and could’ve been for many different reasons & it took many specialists & many hospital visits to figure it all out)\nMy son was born with a multiple protein intolerance and later received an autism diagnosis. There a decent number of hospital visits and specialists for his first couple of years of life too. \n\n I have no idea if I was in the United States how I would’ve paid for any of our health issues (let alone all three of ours) for that 5 or 6 year period where we all needed various types of regular-ish medical care. \n(because we got good medical care, thankfully, none of us have really had to see doctors any more than the average person in the last few years?)\n\nMy kids are now in elementary school, and, as a Canadian, the issue of school shootings happening anywhere….., including in small towns that seem perfectly safe……as well as the cost of healthcare for stuff that is covered by our taxes here in Canada….. are the two biggest reasons that I will think fondly of my time in small-town America, but would never consider moving there

I am Canadian, I was born here in the 60's, I've travelled around the world, including the US but have always lived and worked in Canada. I love my country. saying that now....\nThe last 10 years for Canada has been the worst ever in history, our government has destroyed the foundation of what it means to be Canadian and has made this country look very bad on the world stage.\nEventually that will change. This currently gives reasons why a Canadian wants to move from Canada.\nYou are right about the US, there are places you can move to that offer quiet, country, safe living but like Canada, those places usually trade the good life for lack of opportunity.. the difference is most of Canada gives you the good life and opportunity in the same place. As a Canadian here are my views on the problems here:\n1.Government waste/spending\n2. Insane taxes, we literally pay taxes on our tax here. When you add it all up the lower tax brackets after their 15% gst pay about 45% of their income in taxes alone. Provinces like Nova Scotia are disgusting when it comes to the tax they pay. \n3. Easy immigration, we should consider immigrants based on what they can do for Canada, we don't need hundreds of thousands who can't work or refuse to work. It's a strain on the system. The immigration also artificially increases housing costs.\n4.Government corruption, it's part of why the taxes are so high. It's also part of the recent hyperinflation Canada has suffered. Just look up Trudeaus WE charity Scandall or SNC Lavalin Scandal, some even say Trudeau was getting kickbacks from the vaccine which I have yet to see evidence of but I personally believe it. \n5. Politically illiterate voters and propaganda, here in Canada the government likes to keep it's people uninformed and how they do it is through propaganda. The Liberals have every major news source in Canada in their pocket and in order for you to get news that isn't influenced by them you have to specifically search for them by name, those include Rebel News, TFI Global, and True North. Almost everything else is incredibly biased, they selectively report the news and in many cases outright lie. This causes extreme political illiteracy in it's population.\n6. Housing rules, here in Canada there are some really stupid bylaws like the main floor of your primary dwelling must be 900sqft in some areas, plus building codes prevent cheap construction of homes. You could have a tiny home on piers and it wouldn't cost much but because of our laws and codes it's impossible. You need a proper foundation, footings, building permits, ad in order to get a permit you need to submit blueprints, etc. You can't just buy a prefab building set it on piers and live in it. That'd be too easy, that'd make housing affordable and the government wouldn't like that. \n7. Woke indoctrination centers, The public education system here is all about putting in regular kids and pumping out future Liberal voters. It's a mess.\n8. You can't defend yourself, In Canada you aren't allowed to carry a weapon for self defense. If a criminal breaks into your home you are supposed to do everything you can to escape rather than defend your property. Criminals have more protection under the law than the law abiding citizens. \n9. Low wages, because of immigration wages are low compared to the USA for most jobs in most locations\n10. Thigs cost more in Canada than the USA after taking into consideration currency conversion rates, even things manufactured in Canada\n11. The cold. Nobody likes the cold for the 4-6 months of the year that the higher populated areas of the country have it. The more densely populated areas also tend to be the warmest. \n12. Fascist leaders. It's no secret Justin Trudeau and the Liberals are fascists\n13. Governmental links to the WEF, you'll own nothing and you'll be happy or so their add said. The truth is Canadians can afford less and less under Liberal leadership which is no surprise since Justin Trudeau and Chrystia are supporters of the WEF.

Our National deficit is rising and they always say they can’t touch social security, SSDI and Medicare the stuff we pay into since we start working so one day when we are old enough or hurt enough we will have something given back to us to help us make it through the rest of our lives and have medical coverage after working hard paying into it. Venezuela is an extreme socialist problem. They control all prices and hijack the concept of healthy business functions. This causes essential goods like water, food, and toilet paper, even fruits, are totally barren from stores. Socialism there is a nightmare and no one is living life their with decency. Read about it before you judge these people. Try to visit these countries or learn from someone who came from there before you form a solid opinion of politics folks They don’t have the ability to use much of their “freedom” to “fix” things against a rigged system already (some commenters say they need to go back and fix their countries- lots of issues with this). Read up on how South American governments make it almost impossible for their own people to make decent money. Americans are very privileged and that is an understatement. The problem is with these terrible governments and even law enforcement who often get bribed by criminals and many dirty cops in some countries down there. My husband is from South America, and we know Cubans, Brazilians, and Venezuelans who beg America to stay capitalist. That’s why America needs to stay American, and refrain from trying to be socialist.

I grew up in Calgary, two hours south. I've dealt with it on many levels, sometimes blatantly obvious, most times a series of micro aggressions that make you want to explode and destroy everything when it happens. As much pain it's caused over decades it's made me stronger as well as smarter. I will also say this and I can stress this enough, because of the demographics most of my friends are white and THEY HAVE MY BACK. in almost every aspect life will throw at me, they're ride or die people, I can say this with the utmost confidence The difference for me between Canada and the states is I'm not fighting alone if and when a situation comes up, there's people I can call if needed. Canada has it's issues no question and I could easily go ballistic when it happens to me or anyone I know, but we're not as bad as the states. I believe you can be heard.

Yea I hear you but they don't like us anywhere and the fact no one kind like us I can say the absolutely Mexicans out here in California definitely don't like us they will kill a brother for real they will surround you and jump you or stab you over you arguing with one of them they come out of nowhere and defend each other that's why we need to keep these foreigners out of our country and get our own people help
