The level of institutionalized racism here is mind-blowing. I came here for my masters. For context, I am an African female so I experience racism mixed with sexism often(a very draining combination) Anyway, after less than 2 months in a German university, i realised I wasn't at all welcome. I never got the grades I deserved and after several shocking exam results were released, i decided to challenge their decision and call for my exam scripts. Voila! Turned out I was right! I was being evaluated much harsher than my classmates. I'm still so grateful to my Indian friends who gave their consent for the inquiry board to compare the grading scheme used on the rest of the class to mine! Ever since that incident, I see the hate in their eyes, especially from my German classmates who are angry at me for demanding my rights. I've lost interest in this country ever since and can't wait to graduate and go somewhere else.\nDON'T COME HERE as a skilled immigrant or student! My school fees and every expense incurred to get this education is a huge waste! The quality of education is also shocking and shameful!

Myself working and living in Germany since last 3 years as a blue card holder IT professional. To this date, I have made 0 contacts in germany, making friends here is a far fetched dream. People just don't even look at a stranger person of colour. To them, we are auslanders who are not fit to integrate in their so called german culture. The housing crunch and slow lathargic medical system makes Germany even less attractive. The government needs to understand that not everyone from different parts of the world can learn German. The IT professionals don't get enough time to even look after their health during day to day office activities, on top of it, they are asked to learn german post office hours. Its too much for me.

It is law of the land, like it or not just accept it. I did my masters from United States, and later worked there for a decade. As person born in India, I can never get green card of the United States. After leaving to India for good, I realized I cannot adjust in India, US would never accept me, so I came to Canada. But like every person who moved from US to Canada, not a day goes without missing the US. People in Canada are amazed why I left US and came to Canada. People from other country of birth can easily get US green card and eventually citizenship, but I can never get one. So should I start hating the US? Nope. I am grateful to US for everything. I came from a poor family in India, with less than 8000 USD in my parents saving. I studied in US free of cost sponsored by research grants, did top notch academic research, and worked on top notch industrial research. Due to which I had no issues finding job in India, and directly got interview and job offer in Canada, Sweden and UK while sitting at my home in India.\nUS would always be my home, does not matter I have a green card or not. I would always remember US and miss it, in good memory.

It's not so much a German issue, rather about communities and law dynamics. PA is rly struggling for everyone, but for foreigners services they are making clearly less efforts. Then when it comes about being different from a local, again like in every country, you would not know anything about the law, the school, the possibilities, the services and all the good aspects which Germany has and often people do not know. This is often filled up by talking to people, which luckily happens still also here, where the people are kind, although you have to be close to someone most of the time.

I saw a CBC article about an international student and how shes going to struggle financially with less hours to work. First of all theyre supposed to have the money to support themselves. Secondly working a full time job while studying full time is weaking educational outcomes. No wonder IS are failing! If you cant afford too be here then you need to move back home.

My colleague, who is a temperary worker from Japan, told us she was kind of forced to watch some religious videos while she was working, and this guy kept telling her that he is kind of a big person who has the authority to issue Canadian visa to foreigners to come to Canada. He told her to contact him in the future when she needs visa to Canada. My collegue said he seems from India or related country.Not 100% from India. She just said he seems like. --- I would not believe that Canada has a immigration problem if i have never heard what happened to my colleague. When Indians from small towns with less exposure become manager abroad, they start dominating and micro managing foreigners working under them. Desi people love bossing around. Canada is only 40 million people yet they have immigrated almost 25% of theyre population (7 million) in 2 decades. The problem magnifies when you realize all these immigrants stay in the main cities and the infrastructure isnt set up for this, and they dont move to other less populated areas. Its not anti immigrant sentiment, its anti immigration. we are fine with who we are as a demographic but even the newest immigrants realize this is hurting us in housing, jobs, economy, everything.
