Dear Prime Minister Trudeau,\nI am an American living in America. You are doing the right thing. You are taking a stand against an ignorant, hateful, facist. Most Americans know that Trump does not care what happens to us, to our country, or to our Constitution.

He's missing the American point. Our friends are now our enemies. Just as our enemies are now our friends. Only problem is our president is the only fool who believes Russia likes us. Our fool of a president doesn't realize how Putin is playing him like a fiddle.

Great speech! As an American, I'm on Canada's side in this fight. The American tariffs should not have been implemented. Their purpose is to hurt both countries, to soften us up for Russian dominance.

The US is one of the world's greatest democracies, currently run by a group of narcissists who only care about their own interests, who only want the caos.. At this dark moment for the US, I think the world needs the American people to speak out and be true to their values.

As an American, I want to say that I have never seen a more toxic administration in my life. Not only are they hurting Americans but they are hurting Americas longstanding allies. As an American, I stand 1 million percent with the Canadian people and their government. It's a bummer as our Toronto area Canadian extended family has cancelled their visits to see us. However, we're going to arrange to visit them and meet just over the border in Sarnia this year instead. Win for Canadian tourism loss for US and Michigan.

Do Americans not understand that if we don’t do the things that need to be done our country will fall. How can yall not see that he is taking care of us before the rest of the world. I grew up hearing lots of hate bout USA cuz the US doesn't exactly have a good rep in foreign policies - always bullying other nations, starting wars for oil etc. but I've always preferred USA not just for the world order it brings, it allows different voices, criticism & scolding towards its leaders compared to China, Russia & North Korea. \n\nin the US, you can talk bad bout politicians in power, or probably make movies bout these kind of things like US invading other countries for oil, or testing out some cruel AI military robots on humans (movie name: Monsters of Man), & you won't be persecuted. but after looking at a bunch of executive orders Trump has signed, the way he (& JD Vance) treated Zelenski & Canada, I don't know if I still feel the same bout USA anymore.\n\nif USA doesn't wanna continue spending on Ukraine, perhaps USA shouldn't have sweet talked Ukraine into denuclearization thru the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. that's what you get for mendling with other countries' affairs. by stopping US aid & wanting a new mineral deal, Trump's refusing to follow the Memorandum (I added this sentence thru edit as I can't reply to the comment below).\n\nunderstandably, US & UK don't need to deploy troops in Ukraine as the security assurance in the memorandum wasn't clearly defined, but it also didn't mention that Ukraine should pay the US back financially, nor any mineral concessions. \n\nTrump always wanting a purely 1 sided deal will only isolate USA from more allies.

Canada supplies up to 40% of American power so an export tariff would cripple the US, its economy isn't good

Eveything that Trump is doing has Putin written all over it. Everything that Russia could benefit from is being executed by the President of The USA. We really are witnessing the beginning of a dark chapter in American and world history. Trump is destroying (deliberately) crucial historical alliances that have benefitted the US itself. It really is mind-blowing stuff.

Who owns the majority of the stock market? Who cares. More than half of us don't own stocks. As for Canada, Trump is doing what he thinks is best for Americans not Canada. Not any talk here on why Trump did this and no one here seems to want to know. Let the talking heads that own tons of stocks through Black Rock tell you all you need to stay in the dark.

I just can believe what Trump's government is doing, he's not even hiding it anymore, isolating the US and giving your country to the hands of Russia and going forward of China. Americans must do something about this, remember that a Country is governed by the people and not by few thugs! \nFrom Italy all of this is really hard to watch.

Just put trump and dude in a room and lock the door. Whoever comes out alive we’ll go with that deal. They going back and forth while us hard working Americans going through life trying to pay our bills.

Funny thing is Canadians and Europeans will boycott American products while half of us Americans will purposefully buy Canadian and European products to stand with them against our Putin subservient government.

Trudeau has not been a good Prime Minister. He took the Liberal Party (historically a centrist party) further left, wasted billions of dollars during Covid and put punishing carbon taxes on Canadian citizens. Having said that, this IS his finest hour and he and most of the provincial Premiers have shown a solidarity and strength that will prove to the US that their northern neighbour is not the pushover they thought they were. It's up to the American people to rectify this situation.

So many American companies have set-up plants in Canada in order to profit from doing business here. It's not just products that we MUTUALLY benefit from selling to each other, the US generates significant profits from its many operations in Canada, and those $Billions of dollars in profits that go back to American Investors is not included in the 'Trade Imbalance' that is a justification for the tariffs. With those profits included, I'd bet Canada is the nation with the imbalance not in its favor...

Very proud of my Prime Minister today. Half my family is American - which is true for many of us - but the USA has declared economic warfare on us. As hard as it is to believe, it’s actually happened. The USA we used to know is gone forever.

Can you imagine Canadians & Americans meeting on a battlefield?
