There are enough world class universities in India. Better than most of the countries. It is just the glamour of white, more money and status symbol of living in great named countries. Government of departure countries should charge heavy fines for leaving or ask person to pay off all expenses country of departure has faced.\nYes, there are exceptions. People have long lived and established due to children borne in country or sickness which is handled for long time by doctors in country of present residence. Living in USA and or country like Canada has become a status symbol. It is real tragedy. Dishonesty has gone one step further to crime, Criminals are defying laws and robbing innocents with the assurance of promise land.

Idk i think you need to realize that we also have our bias in addition to you having yours. Meaning, to most of us , excepting the most left leaning socially progressive pockets and contexts , which even then wouldn’t be viewed that way to us just acceptable lol ?\n\nOur baseline/political middle in Canada is A LOT more left leaning than the baseline normal/political middle in the states. So while people tend to equate your democrats to our liberals or our NDP , and equate your republicans to our conservatives. It’s just not accurate. If you throw our span of parties and American span of parties on the SAME spectrum /polarity line. You might be surprised to realize how shifted left our systems range politically is from the American one. \n\nThis hugely impacts the average normal expectation , what we clutch our pearls at hearing coming out of the mouths of the general public , and our range of what we expect to not hear or see ranted about unless they’re to our view , extremely right leaning politically /social values. \n\nFor us this means that actually genuinely , a lot of America does get experiences by us as bat shit crazy racist homophobic immigrant intolerant culturally and religiously ignorant , and somewhat backwards in larger or smaller amounts ? I know that’s not fun to hear but. Being the most diverse country based so much on immigration means. What is normal and known /familiar and normal so we aren’t ignorant to , is completely different. \n\nFor us we have our pockets usually in more rural less populated areas further away from larger cities where there is more diversity but that’s the same often in many countries that you will find some of the louder racist homophobic intolerant voices typically in places that truly are unfamiliar and ignorant to the experience of growing up with and around much of any diversity of varying kinds. So it’s not to say we don’t have racism and intolerance of course like anywhere we do. It’s just contained and the range and frequency and intensity is MUCH different. We distinguish nuances of diff cultures and religions more easily and in larger numbers we’re more familiar with diff ways of life , language , food, dress , holidays , values and used to a much less segregated way of existing even when we are differnt from each other as the NORM. My parents were both born in the states and my older brother was born there but they moved up here when he was a baby. So nearly all my extended family lives down there and I’m a duelly. And my experiences discussing things with my cousins or visiting absolutely could be described as culture shock at times. The insane things that came out of my own cousins mouths when they hear our friends or partners of various cultures , our not understanding how big a deal and incredibly insulting apparently it is to have assumed someone American was lgbt lol the list goes on. Like I don’t think our most intolerant Pockets can hold a flame to even ur closet to middle a bit intolerant places and contexts in America. Quite honestly. \n\nI think the absolute undying favourable passionate upholding and support of nationalistic, capitalist, hyper individualistic mentality about society as a whole (from my Canadian born and bred perspective lol) makes the differences even more glaring blaring and hard to swallow for us lol. In the Philippines ( I'm focusing on that country as a born Canadian Filipino ) there was a 40% rise in, not only immigration, but exclusively mostly caucasian immigration to the Philippines. Prices in the Philippines then skyrocketed exponentially. Yet, they ( The Philippines ) NOT ONCE complained....in general, let alone frabricated ussues to complain about like the manner which is demonstrated in all of North America. So, how much worse, how much more problematic, is the basically small percentage of immigration is in Canada?\n\nFurthermore, in the Philippines exclusively, the immigrants there, not care to learn the Filipino language and would rather go poor, than contribute to the labour force of the Philippines. Canada never assured PR for anyone, at any point of time.\nOnly the eligible will get PR, and the rest will have to go back to their respective countries. \n\nIt is a positive news that about 1 million temporary workers/students will be given PR in the next 3 to 4 years.\n\nI remember a student, who came to Canada ?? in 2007, studied/ worked for 5 years, and went back to India, as she didn't not get PR.\n\nOnly those occupations which are in demand will attract PR. \n\nThere is nothing new in this. The housing shortage is a common thread to the economic/ housing crisis! But why aren’t they building rental units??? Simple, would you build a plane if your passengers simply boarded the plane and refused to pay?? if that were to happen the offending passengers would be de-planed and arrested! \nBut when it comes to renters, they can move in, stop paying rent and it can take 6-12 months to legally evict them. As a former contractor I have been witness to landlords offering cash to tenants and squatters to leave their properties which have always been left trashed and badly damaged! The laws that protect these criminals are a joke and predatory tenants know it! I had a client who rented her condo to a lawyer and after a couple months the tenant stopped paying. She filed for a writ of possesion and waited months for the hearing. She brought all the documentation and the tenant showed up claiming they had cancer ( no documentation, letter from doctors Nothing!) The writ of possession was denied for compassionate reasons! The landlord had a mortgage and was paying the condo maintenance fees, the tribunal didn’t care! \nThey set it aside for six months. In the end cash was offered and the tenant left! After the massive clean up and damage was repaired it was put on the market! This is how far left Canada has gone! There’s simply no way forward!

Canada is building a tonne of housing as is, a bit less than in the past, so yes, issues with the growth of red tape, zoning, development taxes, etc should be addressed, but the problem has mainly been that the population has been growing at an exponential rate, in the past decade. The construction workforce actually doesn't have that many immigrants - around 77% are Canadian born, compared to 73% of the overall workforce, and I suspect the 23% that are immigrants are probably mostly immigrants that have been here a while, with very few temporary workers (which are mostly in retail/commercial services, elder care, and agriculture). That means immigration has been a bigger problem for increasing housing demand, compared to any benefit to increasing the supply through increasing construction workforce, especially when you consider that the size of the construction workforce is proportional to the total population, while the housing demand is more correlated to population growth. \n\nThere is also the differentiation between expanding infrastructure/housing supply, vs improving/maintaining it. It would not be a bad thing if we were able to shift some of the construction workforce towards improving our stormwater infrastructure, fixing roads, and building transit alternatives (improves quality of life), rather than just building more and more new roads and homes just to keep up with population growth (maintains quality of life).

The entire Immigration System got screwed up somewhere, due to Government Ministers who had or have NO clue what the job entailed.\nI came to Canada in mid 1970s from ENGLAND. I was not allowed into Canada, unless I could prove that I could READ, WRITE, and \nSPEAK ENGLISH (many will attest to this) I had to prove that I was EDUCATED enough, to be able to be employed. I had to have \nenough money so NOT to have to access government funds. Please think about this! Today, it is much different to get to Canada.\nI guess ILLEGAL immigration is now, part of the Canadian problem.

There is not such a situation where immigrants are happily welcomed, no matter where you come from, where you are at. This is a business model run by goverments to make profit. In the case of Canada, they did not know how to run their business properly.

I appreciate your take. I believe Canada's key issue is that it is facing a cultural decay, which is not exclusive to Canada. Many countries in the west are challenged by similar things such as aging populations and unaffordability. \n\nIt works in a cycle: governments and corporations take turns screwing over the general population and most people cannot afford anything. Corporation does A then government does B; government does X then corporation does Y. On the surface, government is _trying_ to do a good thing, but it backfires quite often, leaving the average person feeling scorned. \n\nChief among these corrective measures was mass immigration, and because there was already a climate of indignation, the introduction of too-many-immigrants was a huge slap in the face. Instead of making sure Canadians were better taken care of, the government responded to the corporations--not the people. \n\nGDP numbers mean nothing to the average Canadian person if their quality of life is in decline. The only people still in favour of mass immigration are those who do not have to confront it on a day-to-day basis. Even Canadian-born (or even Canadian Citizens of 5+ years) minorities, think the immigration problem is too much.

Thanks ladies. I have a person from Serbia who I hired many years ago. He is a professional and one of the best people I have ever employed. He h& his wife understood what it took to come to Canada. There was no easy path for them but they perserveered. They both have succeeded & are a great part of Canada now.
