We use guns for hunting ?? I have no need to go south to find a new home.

Also it is media sensationalism. Gun stories make headlines and get clicks. So even though gun violence is probably not a concern in the vast majority of American communities. Media makes it appear that it is. Also where as health care is a concern I would still consider living down there. I have met some fantastic Americans and they have shown some wonderful places down there.

To be fair there are also places in Canada where violence is a concern. And even though it is usually not guns, I feel stabbing or clubbing probably hurts as much if not more than a gunshot.

As a Canadian I don't mind paying a little more tax to enjoy universal health care. I despize Republicans and their gun culture. D. Trump has ruined America for me and divided the country too much.

No, one of the things that I love about our Canada is\nfor the most part we treat our police with respect and\nthey for the most do the same, they are just people\nwith a different job to do and we are not scared of them.\nWe love you America you are a big brother to us but we\njust do not want to live in the same house as you, one\nof the reasons for that is you have too many guns in\nthe gun cabinet (case). The number 1 cause of death in children in Canada is accidents (e.g. car accidents).\nThe number 1 cause of death in children in the US is from firearms.\nThat is why many of the Canadian comments focused on kids, guns, and school.

As a Canadian living in north western Ontario at the north west of lake superior about 50 miles from the boarder. I would move to the United states if given choice of state like Alaska, Montana, and maybe Texas. no real reason i can enjoy guns here but not all the guns i would like to own are legal in Canada anymore for weird reasons, and if it was the states of my choosing i would still have enough free space to get lost in and enjoy nature with fishing or hunting. If I couldn't pick were i lived in the US I would say not at all do to the vast differences in culture state to state county to county and even times down to street to street.

As a Canadian that immigrated from the US over 50 years ago, NO WAY! I still have relatives there, even a brother who lived most of his life in Canada - from age 10 to 50 - lives in the US, and I won't even visit him. Find a lot of the area where you would go as a tourist, full of arrogant a'holes (including my brother). If have, to admit that I do enjoy watching your channel, and I am sure that there are a lot of nice people in small town America, but I have to agree with many of the submissions you read. Don't like the politics, gun violence and political attitude to it, the treatment of minorities, the treatment of women, the villinization of the LGBTQ2 community, the book bans in the schools - MAJOR PROBLEM - the school curriculum being adjusted to reflect history in a whitewashed manner.....I could continue.....but my answer is an obvious HELL NO!

If a person had choose a safer place to live, doesn't it means that country is in trouble? Not saying we in Canada does not have our problems with a porous borders, recently we too have some gun violence.

I have travelled to the USA for20 years.I have enjoyed so many cities. However, if I didn't have to travel to the USA ( I have family) I wouldn't. There are too many mass shootings, School shootings, too many guns. Watching women rights return to the 1800’s is horrifying. To me it appears that rights are being taken away. Your Supreme Court is corrupt. What is going on with their politics? It's getting very ugly. Finally, our healthcare system has issues, but if you get sick, it's here. I would never live in the USA.

Listened carefully to everything that was commented on and I too was a little surprised by what I heard. Being from southern Ontario actually near Buffalo and I am close to the USA but I am glad to be in Canada. Many of my friends go to Florida for the winter. They state that they will politely listen to the politics but never chime in with their opinion. The american political situation is very much like the religious situation with the Irish and the Northern Irish Catholics vs the Protestants. Your political separation borders on insanity. The current republicans lie through their teeth and keep repeating those lies. Listening to the Irish is equally exhausting. When I travel to the United States I am always glad to be home when the trip is over. While in America, I find most people are wonderful and we are always treated very well. If the Republicans snap out of it and the gun lobby loses their grip on the narrative that everyone needs a gun I think the attitude of Canadians might change. One thing for sure I am very happy that big brother is right next door and we will never have to deal with what the Ukrainian people are going through. In that instance I am glad that America keeps improving their weapon systems and their innovations and mass military production. \nI am sure there are many lovely places in the USA but the media focuses on the bad news of the day where violence and shootings and political insanity dominate news. Meanwhile most Americans are enjoying their lives in peace.

I never want to move down in United States first of all they don't have free healthcare they don't have free medication while some medication and their food does not taste like ours I've tried their Pizza Hut that I found was totally disgusting they're McDonald's was totally different also lots of flies in this in the restaurant around where they make the hamburgers and that they're washing very filthy women's washroom overpopulated and you never know when you're walking on the street when you're going to get killed by a gun at least where I live it's a slower pace it's starting to become crazy with the homeless and people that like to make trouble but they're still not that much guns because we don't allow it it's more safe we can still walk on the streets without anything happening happening even at night where I live it's a slower pace the air quality is also better it's not muggy as much as the states a lot of places people here are more friendly but just like it here I was born here

There are a lot of people up here jump to the shootings as a reason and as much as there is gun violence down there, we aren’t better. I live in Surrey and people are shot every day here. The number one cause of death for children living in the US is guns. This is per the US CDC. Canadians and citizens of other developed countries are shocked with the gun situation in the US.

On the gun issue, I'm not sure that american people really understand the second Amendment. With a 7B $ Armed forces budget and the fact that Indepedance war againts Britain is over for more than 200 years there is no need anymore for the 2nd Amendment. In Canada, we don't have any equivalent article in our Constitution and I'm very happy about it. Some people should meditate on the subject.

Why would you move from a country that's rated top 3 every Year for best countries in The world to live, and go to a place that's not even top 10 and has highest gun deaths and incarceration rates per capita in the WORLD.

The States is wonderful in many ways, but the your private health care system is dreadful. People die because their HMOs tell Americans what diagnostic tests they can or cannot afford. I read that one in four US families go bankrupt because of huge medical bills NOT covered by their insurance. Also the gun situation would give most Canadians pause. In Canada, only hunters, trappers, remote forest workers and cops carry guns. Last but not least: the right wing MAGA goons terrorizing people for flying Pride flags freak me out. Canada is a free country. We have bigots and thugs here too — but they don’t run the show the way they do in so many places in the States.

When I was young, late 50's early 60's, I was jealous of people living in the US. We'd go to my Dad's professional conferences in various areas and everyone seemed to drive such expensive cars and live in such big houses. Now I know that's just window dressing. You have to look at what's underneath. I didnt see the poverty and the racism. Canada unfortunately has people who would like to take Canada down the same road as the US. We have good medical care, a social net, respect human and reproductive rights, attempt to keep religion out of politics, gun control (a pro hunter here!) , fair school funding (the whole province, not just district), and the list could go on. Is it perfect? No but its a whole lot better than the US. We Canucks just need to keep fighting for improvements and it isnt an American model for most of them. \nWe had always planned to take holidays and see various parts of the US. No more. I lived in New York City for 3 years and am from Quebec city. I would say New York is its own thing but I would not want to go back and live there or anywhere in the US. There was a time I would have. My father and Grandfather grew up in New York city as children and spoke highly of the States. Since 2016 I would seriously not consider living there. The gun violence that occurs their has gotten to the point that it has to be especially eggregious before it makes the news. The cavalier attitude towards guns and gun saftey is disturbing even from your politicians. it would be a recipe for loosing your privalege to own a firearm in Canada if you did what many of us see americans do with their guns. Open carry. Not allowed. Concealed carry. Not allowed. There are courses you need to take and pass on firearm saftey and gun use here, before you are given the privaledge of owning a firearm. Those firearms need to be stored properly or carried in cases at all times when not in use \n\nThat being said I have done those courses and I own guns. Rifles to be precise and a shot gun I use for hunting food. Pistols are not easy to get here and you can only use them on a range. The only people legally carrying pistols in public are the police.\n\nHealthcare is fine if you are young and healthy, with a job. If i showed up at 53 with a handfull of pre-existing conditions, I would be in bad shape.\n\nYour record on lgbtq+ and a woman's right to bodily autonomy is back slipping to the 1950's. Also, total no. I love spending weekends in Boston, it's a great city with a good mix of sport and culture. I know some urban centers are more liberal, but as many mentioned I cannot live in a place that gives so much importance to guns, religion, moral conservatism and Marjorie Taylor Green. We do have nut jobs in Canadian politic, but nothing remotely close. Also, I did find an article from May 26, 2023 that said there were 200 mass shootings across the US so far this year. I also hate the culture war in the US where everything become political (like LGBT rights, climate change or even biking). Worst part is that I'm considered conservative in Canada. I understand that there are nice people everywhere, even in the bible belt, and I would enjoy sharing a BBQ with them, but do I really want to raise children around people that believe that the Bible is more important than human rights and women freedom of choice with their body?

Just to touch briefly on the guns subject. Canada has quite a lot of guns relatively. Other than the United States, Canada has the highest guns per capita in the OECD. However, gun licensing, regulation and distribution along with various policies and cultural dynamics help in reducing mass shootings and school shootings.\nIn fact , Canada has only ever seen about a dozen school shootings in the last 50 years. Just to put that into perspective if a Canadian student were to attend an American school for a couple months, they are more likely to have a school shooting in those couple months than their entire K-12 education in Canada. I think that's why a lot of Canadians were mentioning their childs safety.

Spent a fair amount of time in America, in many area's. \nOptically, when well positioned in the US, life can be lived at the highest standards available.\nMy American friends are congenial, courtley, generous and caring, excellent neighbour material.\nWould I consider it, as a seasonal choice....perhaps?\nMoving there full time, nearly came up professionally a few years ago, and I was willing to explore it.\nThe gun culture, the health care, the cultural divides, and its insulation from world awareness, make it a no for me.\n\nCorporate America clearly dislikes, and is disengaged from the American people, do anything to not pay them resonably, or outsource their positions.\nThe homeless, the substance issues and the crime are all core related to outsourcing the livelihoods of mainstream American's.\nFinally, I have a Canadian passport, which anywhere in the world is access to at least a neutral welcome, but more often a genuinely receptive one !

My family has been trying to get me to move to the US for the last 40 years. Sorry but no way! I prefer to live the life of freedom that americans like to think they have but really have no clue what freedom really is. I’m Canadian and sorry to break your heart but there is no way I would move down there. I don’t want to know I’m surrounded by guns, women’s rights are backwards there and I enjoy my free health care. My son, C-section and all was completely free. I live in a province that is considered the most “American” in its beliefs. Honestly I have thought about leaving my own province lately. Covid brought out all the weirdos.

My parents were snowbirds for decades. At the end of their stay, they owned a small place in Safford, AZ. I spent all my vacations wherever they were, Texas, other parts of Arizona. I loved exploring the US with them - Dodge City, KS, Tombstone, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Capital Reef, Gila Cliff Dwellings, to name just a few. Multiple National Parks over their 30 years of winter stays. \n\nThe US is beautiful and steeped in history. We met some really nice people, and even loved a few of them (but not in a weird way).\n\nMy parents sold their place just before Trump became president (on purpose), and none of us have been back since.\n\nDon’t get me wrong, we have our share of ignorant and uneducated people, but most of ours don’t have guns. \n\nAnyways, I digress. Never, not once did we ever consider becoming American Citizens. Especially since Trump (OMG).\n\nWe love our country, even though it’s not perfect. We love our health care, such as it is currently.\n\nIn memory of Gene of Tory, AZ, a family friend, who was like a brother to all of us who knew him, who died too young because he refused to give up his children’s small inheritance to your healthcare system. \n\nEven though there is darkness, there is still greatness in your country.
