If I was you and still live in Canada, I would leave NOW ASAP OK. I would like for you'll to go back to Africa. Are some where else to a better life. See I am American I can say it would be a better place to live, but all places have its challenges if you can agree. Yes I would visit Canada but to live in Canada noway. To me Canada is far more worse then America. And I am coming out of America going to another Country. I do have in mind what Country.

Was just staying @ Extended Stay America in Boise, Idaho. Full of illegal imagrants from Mexico living out of the Extended Stay! The whole place was full of these young, adult, men from Mexico that were all extremely intoxicated! At any given time there would be between 10 and 20 of them in the lobby drinking beer and the whole place smelled like meth! It seemed like every couple of hours or so someone would stumble over to the store across the way and bring back a 24 pack/case of beer! I saw three different vans with out of state license plates all show up at the Extended Stay America, full of these Mexican men, all exiting these vans and heading straight towards the lobby and then retreating to their rooms. There must have been a 50+ of these Mexican imagrants living out of this one Extended Stay America in Boise Idaho.

My wife, my 3 kids and I used to like Vancouver but not anymore!!! The weather is why we plan to leave for good but also the expensive rents! I also heard about horror stories at many hospitals (and yes, I have worked in Africa and to be honest, Africans hospitals are way more functional than the ones in Canada in terms of human aspect… there they care, Canadians do not give a shit about anyone!!! And I am saying this as a Belgian!!! I have some African colleagues at work here and at least 80 percent of them either want to go back to Africa (one is actually going to start an Afro business there and build his own house) or move to Europe (one of them plans to live to my homeland Belgium and two others in France as apparent the pensions there are way better than the Canadian one) as soon as they get enough experience in canada! None of us at work , including me, want to retire or get old here in Canada! For me personally, it is the Canadian extreme loneliness and lack of willingness to open to others that really shuts me down… I am fed up and and tired of paying taxes in a country where some (not all) hospitals and some retirement homes treat patients like … objects, not human beings! I now understand (as before I did not) why even some of my African colleagues are looking forward to go back to Africa or to some of them, immigrate to Europe! .. none of us want to be left alone and depressed in this so highly individualistic and unfriendly, falsely “cool” country called Canada… a country that claims America and France are racist countries when not even one CEO in Canada is coloured! I am also fed up of Canadians being cool!!!! Cool???? Yes, their humour is crap and they are all too serious… not astonishing why so many end up being depressed or on meds to be able to function! \nLast: I am fed up with 1. The stupid credit score system which makes North Americans anxious and frustrated!!!! Life in Eastern Canada (Quebec and Ontario) is way better. \n\n2) Weather : rain during winter is really a BC thing, the rest of the country : is SNOW and cold for 4-5 months\n\n3) Again, the cost of living is super expensive in Vancouver and Toronto. Here, in Montréal, it’s affordable.\n\n4) The more taxes you pay means you are making good money. 50% of taxes is \n\n5) Canada is beautiful, but if you don’t like our country, why did you came here in the first place ? \n\n6) Covid : Mmm it was maybe extreme, but Canada is one of the country that manages the best the pandemic in the world \n\n7) Rules ? Try coming to South America where I was born. There’s a lot more rules there and good luck for your safety \n\n8) Politic ! We are actually one of the most democratic country in the world. People fighting about politics? You don't even have guts to visit India. Also India will become a super power in no time , see the number of soldiers we have , it's more than north America. I'm an Indian living in India. People here dream of places like America and start saving money from a very young age. I think they don't know the true reality of the Western countries. Many of my relatives who go to these countries never come back. I think your point about getting used to it is also true. They never complain about the lonliness. They only praise it, saying that it's not as loud as India. But I don't think I'll be able to live such an isolated life.

I thought America was dream and paradise where all problems cease to exist. Little did I know America is living nightmare and hellhole where real problems actually just started. Even financially wise, half of the USA population is so poor working for pocket change. Nothing left in the end of month. Everything is dark, soulless and tasteless. This is damned land. There is no life. Just work sleep and paying bills. There is no outdoor life. Even people you know you get chance to see them every 3 weeks. Everybody lives spread out from each other and work different jobs, different days and shifts. It's impossible to make friends. It's impossible to get normal girlfriend or any girlfriend. No human connection. No passion, no enjoy. Neighbors don't even talk to neighbors. Just emotional pain, loneliness and depression that can lead to SERIOUS psychological issues and consequences. While experiencing all this I actually thought something was wrong with me, like feeling of being under black magic attack, that's how serious it feels. I always wanted to live here and to see people from all over the world and hang out with them. However people here share same mentality, they are very reserved and alienated from each other. Nobody cares about each other here. People are also very close minded and hang out in their own groups like in prison, whites with whites, blacks with blacks and so on... People here don't realize they became androids and modern slaves. They put money first and left behind family, friends and love. It's best never to come here, you have to be an idiot if you think happiness exist in America. Stay on your own land.

This is SO true!!! I am American but have lived overseas in the UK and Europe. I can’t believe the difference. Living in America is so lonely! It’s isolating. It’s very sad. It didn’t used to be this way in the 40s, 50s, 60s 70s. This is a new phenomenon. Without w church family (and I’m not religious) you are literally on your own - and that’s as an American! I can’t believe what it would be like being a refugee or an immigrant. Depression is high and largely due to isolation.

Most people feel more comfortable living around people who are like themselves, with similar backgrounds. This is universal. This also was the way it use to be in America until a small group of white elites decided, apparently this had to change. This is America darlin. It's not Africa, it's not India, it's not Pakistan. We were a prosperous, bountiful generous educated people until the globalists stir up conflicts all over the world, making refugees and robbing our wealth.. They have decimated safety and we now stay inside more, often out of fear. It's no way to live. However I would never leave my country , enter another country through their generosity , then talk smack about them.

This video seems to really capture the reality of a typical America and the narration really crystalizes it. Even though it depicts a less urban setting, the same stillness can be found in cities and suburbs. It’s not what you see on Netflix or in Hollywood where there’s a story to be told and you do see a lot of human interaction from scene to scene. In real life America so many lead an isolated life indoors except for when one has to go to work or school. One explanation for this, however, is that community in America and many societies is not geographically determined. It’s structured around work, school, church, one’s immediate family if there is anyone and other kinds of civic associations. Loneliness really comes in when one does not belong to any of these “communities”. One’s geographical community (in a society like America’s) simply does not or cannot provide a sense of belonging. It provides physical and material comforts but not emotional or social sustenance, which has to come from those other types of associations. And I sense this is not just a Western world phenomenon. I think it’s happening everywhere and simply a fact of life wherever the vast majority of people living in any space have no family ties with one another. In a village or neighborhood setting in a place like India or Africa, you’ll have such liveliness on the streets and among neighbors because a lot of the people there are simply relatives of each other.

It is a very insightful video about what aspects of lifestyle can be very depressing for people. Also, habits define your life. People are not the most highly social in the USA. I moved to Mexico. I missed the tropics and I missed a less planned social life. At the same time, I think the economic pressures that people live in Africa and Latin America need to be addressed. Stay home and work on improving economics for your African or Latin American nations. Trading in extended family and the love of the community for money and loneliness is not worth it. What is worth it is an effort put in to improve the finances of nations with strong communities. The best of both worlds. Excellent video from EBS scholars.

I am born in America in the suburbs north of Boston.Your words are so correct. I am now 74, and my childhood was idyllic, playing outside every day, roller skating, bike riding, climbing trees and long walks with my girlfriends. Sadly, due to the scourge of the drug trade and gun violence all communities everywhere have been adversely affected. Parents are fearful of letting their kids play outside. I have lived in Egypt for 20. years with returning to the states every summer for 3months I became to realize the problem.\nThen I returned to Florida USA for 8 years to work.The difference was huge from the friendly Egypt. Definitely, isolation is the norm now in the states, and it is impossible for someone to adjust who is from Africa and be happy.\nThank you for clearly warning of the culture clash...it is real. The only option for an African is to live in the big cities like N.Y.. When I was a little girl growing up in Belize I ONLY wanted to come to America to be with my mother.. she brought me to America when I was 11 years old by the time I was 14 years old I had so much anger I ask my self, why would she bring me to America? I wanted to know why didn't she just leave me in Belize and take care of me from there. I hate it here, who would do this to their children? why would you take me from Paradise and bring me to hell... I can agree with these comments if your not American, growing up we had all that interaction with family, friends and neighbors. Life n times have changed in America due to gun violence, especially in large cities. Socializing is different in every state in America and in every country. I can understand how if your not accustomed to our ways of life even today, that you would prefer your ways of living back in your hometown and your Country. If you live in a big City in America and moved there from a smaller town in America, you will be feeling some loneliness, that's normal to us in America. If your American then you adjust to making n meeting new people, that hasn't been so easy with the pandemic for anyone. To compare our homes in one community from another or even from another country, is just criticism. We don't have a specific way of living, as far as our homes are constructed. This is how as American's we have always lived, small homes, large homes, big cities, small towns. Since the pandemic we do find ourselves spending more time inside due to no fault of our own. We do have different ways of living but so do other countries which we do enjoy when we visit. If you want to learn more about America and our lifestyles and history, you should do that. Every Country has it's government rules n law's and we try to abide by them, that's what makes our Country n Our Nation Great, that's also why many people come here to visit or work and study. Loneliness can be anywhere, depending on the person you are and reaching out to make new friends or just acquaintances is important. My brother America is a very very big place. You must do research before you come. Each area is different. It really depends on where you live. If you move to Philly or NJ or certain areas of New York in the city and on certain blocks tou will find neighbors and neighborhoods where the same families leave closely for decades. In a lot of these communities have been forced to go through massive gentrification.

I am an Irish man that moved to the U.S.S.A twenty years ago. And my ass and all my other bits and pieces are now ( Thanks Christ be to Jesus) back in Ireland. America is not a country its a business. The most God dam cold vacuous depressing soulless place on this planet. Land of the fee and home of the slave. An open air prison with so many God dam rules and regulations it will make your head spin. Thank feck I have traveled . I have been all around Europe and South America, and a little to Africa. And I can say hands down. You don't live when you are in that God forsaken country Amerika. You exist. Nobody has any time. Nobody talks to or trusts anyone. The only time someone talks to you is if they want to sell you something. It's the land of fake smiles and fake personalities. On a positive note however, it does have a lot of airports if you want to get the feck out of there. Oh and the elections are fixed. I voted with my feet and left. Life is to short to live in a shit country!

The problem is that North America is cold. Unless you live in Southern California or Florida you’re pretty much screwed. I live in Canada and from mid-October to about the end of March you’re pretty much indoors all the time. It’s too cold to go out. In some countries like India it’s too hot to go out. Los Angeles has a nice comfortable climate.

I came to America when I was 22 .. student life was fun because you have lot of friends I studied in Pennsylvania and in California.. but right after college I lived in a state called Delaware for almost 4 months.. some of the most depressing times of my life .. I experienced everything you said in your video.. at 24 I didn't have a job yet because 2008 happened and so I didn't have a car .. most of the time I am stuck in the apartment studying.. I was so desperate to even see people .. the only place I used to become happy by seeing people is when I go to the mall .. 6 o clock in the evening you don't see anyone in the apartments .. it used to be like ghost town .. I ran away from that place the first opportunity I got ..no matter how much money someone offers I am never going back to Wilmington Delaware

I lived in America for more than 20 years. The loneliness, boredom, emptiness as well as racism was too much to handle. I retired early and moved back home in Africa. Am the happiest I’ve ever been. Family everywhere, organic good food, never Lonely, sunshine overall mentality much much better. You couldn’t pay me enough to go back. What a boring life in western counties.

I've grown up in suburbs all my life, when I was a kid I would play outside with other children, but I do not see this happening now with the children of this day. I too now spend almost all of my time indoors, it has become increasingly easy to live like this. My neighbors are the same way, nobody knows each others names in the neighborhood. I am very grateful for the immense comfort and privilege that my background has provided for me, but you come to realize that American culture is gross and inhuman, materialistic and plastic, very lonely. I long to see the other ways of life on this planet when I have the means to travel\n\nIn the last 15 years especially, the westerners (at least in North America) have all retreated to their caves, their eyes fixated on the shadows on the walls of the cave. Reality passes them by and they waste their life, the most they can hope for to ease the loneliness is a friendship over Discord (but in the end this only contributes to them spending more time indoors). \n\nNorth Americans are moving towards a never ending stream of escapism through consumerism. First it was TV, then video games, next is virtual reality. They will be enveloped in a 24/7 stream of hyperreality, forever overstimulated and oblivious to the real world.

I have always wondered about this. You look at literally any other continent in the world and you see many people out on the streets hustling and bustling. Especially here in Pakistan, everything is always alive. But whenever I look at the U.S or Canada on Google Maps, I always get this strange lonely feeling. Why are the streets always so empty? I have often thought that despite the endless amount of celebrities and YouTubers, journalists etc. who are always noisy on the news and social media, and portray a very lively image of North America, I really felt that the situation of the common man is quite different. The common man of North America must not think that their neighborhoods being this lonely and empty is normal. After watching this video, that belief of mine has been validated.

Brother, You are so right! But, I am a african American who grew up in the 70’s. It wasn’t like this until blacks integrated with whites. We had fun in our neighborhoods just like you described. Any neighbor could correct us. We could just go to the neighbors house to play. I grew up in Chicago and we had block parties with dancing, games, food sand talent shows. We played games in the street after school. When we left our black communities we had to behave like whites who don’t want to socialize with us. That’s what you see where you live. So they suffer and stay inside their houses. I left Chicago for university and moved to Newark, New Jersey and it was life there too! So many cultures, people walking, languages, music, vendors on the street. Puerto Rican’s, Haitians, Dominicans, and Africans. You should be some place like that. But many places in America “now” are boring like where you showed. Move!!!

Pakistani here. Fully agree with everything you said. I visited the states and within a week I felt like I was burning out really quickly. The life was so bland, tasteless and colourless. I didn’t see any elements of culture or traditions, it was all about making money and then saving that money for future retirement. Here in Pakistan life is full of joy and happiness because we have close knit communities and family system. I can’t imagine living in the US permanently. I love my culture of joy and vibrance far more than the grey culture of corporate America.

Americans complain so much about others speaking different languages in America but when they go to Korea or Germany to live it’s a different story (AND FYI THEY DONT COMPLAIN).

My friend, it depends on what you want out of your time in US. If you want outdoor life, there is plenty of it here, you just have to know what to do and where to go. If you have been indoors for 10 days and only gone out twice, then that tells a lot about your own self, not being an outdoor person. There are parks, lakes, amusements, beaches. There are facilities for hiking, walking, cycling, etc. I really think that you have not been exposed or you have not explored what is available here for outdoor fun. In the western world you can take your family out camping in the forest with the assurance that you will come back home safely. You can take your boat down to the lake for a day of fun with no problem. If you lived in most parts of Africa, and bought a boat, and started going to the river or lakes in the weekend, then the police commissioner, or military person who lives close to you will fabricate a reason to intimidate you and confiscate it. What I mean is in Africa, you run the risk of becoming a target once people see that you are an ordinary citizens who is doing well. Here, not like that.\n\nJust be happy that you are here and make the most of it. While you were in Africa, you dreamt about coming to America, now that you are here, all you want is to recreate Africa here. If Africa was good enough, no African will want to be here.

Here in America…. My neighbors run into there home when I go outside…. I’m standing outside within 15 feet of my neighbors and they put their head down without saying a word. \n\nThis is in a rich part of town… when I lived in the poor side of town people were more friendly.

As an American, I absolutely agree with this. I lived in Japan for almost a decade and I found that the structure of the towns were better for me than here in the states. It wasn’t like this in America to this extent until the mid 80’s. I really struggle with depression and anxiety here in the U.S. because of this mindset he’s talking about. When I am staying or living elsewhere, I feel more connected with society. My husband came here to the U.S. for the American dream but I struggle to stay here and anxiously waiting to move abroad again.

This is mostly true for the caucasian people you won't see them out on their front yards, they are on the back yard, not the black people in America,and he didn't tell you if he's in a caucasian neighborhood he could be killed walking around the neighborhood, they don't like for people walking around videotaping, they are very suspicious of black people period, so if you come to America, know your area, you're black get with black unless a caucasian family has invited you to live with them.

I would dispute the cost of living argument putting Quebec at #1. I'm from there, and in Quebec, you have extremely high tax rates, almost no social services (since the health care system started imploding in the 90s and has the only such system in Canada that is almost completely non-transportable across provinces as Quebec refuses to pay anyone else or delays payment for so long, other provinces give up). Daycare workers don't even make minimum wage, the education system is heavily politicized and extremely poor (far too many teachers who couldn't care less about their students and do little work), rents are quite high in most cities, especially when you couple them with the high tax rates and the infrastructure is among the worst in North America. There are good points about Quebec, but I put it about on par with Montana or Alabama for what it offers the population, compared to costs. And then there's the wonderfully racist and nationalist government that feels it's a crime to wear a scarf.

If you can't do I the right way America doesn't want or need you there is a process to have the privilege to live here my wife is from China and we had to jump through hoops to get her leagle to stay here and she was pregnant with my child and we didn't know if she was gonna have to go back to China it has cost alot of money that ii earned from a JOB and its not fair for people to just live here without going through the leagle process in place and Canada is the same concept we all have our own problems in the country don't need anymore just stay in your own country if you cant do it right we really don't WANT YOU HERE

Canada is a Racist country! Yes. I have been to canada Twice. and both times I have faced Racism One was at York University Toronto. That too foreign students office. . Canada is not worth it! US is Amazing Please don't think US is hard. Its not. America the first time, I got Multiple Entry Tourist Visa for 5 years, Canada It was a torture to get two entry visa, LOL :) I am from India and I got my Visa's from Turkey. LOL Canada is a sheet country! Canadians would rather live in the US than in Canada... Canada is COLD COLd COLD!

If you have to pay for your dentist, some surgeries and health expenses just take a plane and flight to Mexico, Colombia where dentists and doctors are even better than here in Canada and you have to pay only 10% of what you are paying in Canada and you’ll have holidays for free in a warmer country. Life is getting unpredictable in Europe, China or USA so from my point of view Canada is a safer place to live in the next 10 or 20 years even your way of life or income won’t be so high. Energy, food, transport, health, virus problems will be traumatic in many European countries, China or USA and also some Latin American countries where people will be impoverished because of left wing parties in power like it’s happening in all Latin America.
