Canada is not a good country to live in, there are many better options today, as shown by the number of Canadians leaving. You will basically live to pay taxes for a corrupt govt and you will not be free to choose the life you want. You are a lot better of in any country in Europe, like Spain, Italy or even Denmark, also better off in Asia, like in Malaysia or the Philippines, and even in South America, like in Argentina or Paraguay.\nMost Canadians ignore that Canada is bankrupt and collapsed, but it's getting worse and it will be too late when they do. CEO Elon Musk paid no federal income tax in 2018 and investing legend George Soros did the same “three years in a row.”

Currently we are paying to the gov't upwards of 50% of our earnings in a gamut of taxes and excises. Are you considering moving to Russia. Or China? That would be great for you. I think a major problem for Canada is that it allows dual citizenship. Many countries do not allow this and we have many who hold Canadian citizenship but don't pay their fair share of income taxes (because they work in another country) and only show up once every six months to acess health care services.

If you make money online there is no reason to remain in Canada and pay so much tax when you receive almost nothing in exchange. There are countries like Panama where you pay zero tax from income made abroad. Panama does not have the luxuries that Canada offer, It is still a third world country. But your rent is much less and you don't pay tax.

Im a surgeon. I came to canada as a refugee child I wouldnt be a surgeon today had it not been for welfare, social supports, affordable apartments for our family, free and excellent public schools, loans/scholarship/ bursaries and access to the best universities for education, and then loans again for medical school/residency. I pay about between 300-500K in taxes a year. I am paying back a lot more than my family received in direct social services, but its worth it for the life that this beautiful country provided my family and I. I hope the taxes I pay will benefit current and future Canadians. Our system is not perfect. if it was good enough to help raise my ESL refugee rear up to where I am today, the social support blanket is better than most places. GL on your move. I was born and grew up in Mississauga Canada, lived here my entire life. I've seen the defecation of this country in the last 10 years under this liberal extremists Trudeau rule. I see no potential anymore to stay in Canada. Yes I can work but i am paying everything to the government and its not like they are putting money into the community, they spend it on themselves, foreigners, to other countries nothing helps Canadas infrastructure. My wife and me have to leave Canada 2021, we don't accept the med procedure in this time. After 20 years a truck driver in north America, 70 hours the week, no vacation, we left with cad 250.00 ccp per month. Anyway no way I return and work and pay taxes to the criminal government in Canada.

Canada is really still not that bad of a place to live. I am 38 years old suffer with epilepsy own my own house, I am married. My job is Medicore paying and very hard work. Me and my wife have plenty of disposable income at the end of the month to do what we want with or save it. A lot of people need to learn how to budget money. Stay away from credit cards, personal loans , expensive cars basically useless shit. Yes canada is expensive but there ways around it. Example stop living in expensive cities. If you or anyone inn the same situation have enough (A lot) of money, of course it's the smart choice to move abroad. You are still super young. But someone close to retirement and after living in Canada for a long time, Its not that smart. Canadian goverment wont pay you full pension if yu don't live for a minimum amount of time a year inside Canada. So giving away your money to the Canadian gov is not something that a lot of people are willing to do. Not after living years here and paying huge tax. But again you are lucky that you are young.

The problems are known very well but nothing is done from the government side to attract skilled workers. No tax allowances or free languages classes. Sometimes skilled workers have to attend mandatory language classes paying fees(despite they pay taxes) and they let asylum seekers learn for free.

I feel you. I have a somewhat similar upbringing. Immigrated to Canada, from Lebanon, when I was 7 (with my family), so 42 years and I consider myself to be Canadian. And I've always justified paying our high taxes as the price we have to pay for the great services we have. But more and more I'm feeling these services are falling apart and cost of living has skyrocketed. \n\nI'm not sure where I'll retire.
