How could you not inform yourself to the best of your ability so that you are prepared? My mother looked into everything, gave up everything, to come to Canada. It was tough, but did it so that the kids she would have would be Canadian, a country she believed in. \nI’m so proud to be Canadian, and for us to be a country that welcomes all, but those that come should inform themselves of the processes and try to learn the culture, not just have it as a ‘better life’ ticket.

The most hurtful thing in this video is that they are not accepting India as it is which is their own country after all.....and they complaining about law and order,cleanliness etc...Common If u really would have loved ur own country u people should have came back and strived collectively for making India better....

I feel sad when people say they don't want to come back to India, but it's not there fault, no one expect few would like to come back to India jarurat to ye hai ki government should take some hard step to make India a better place to live.

He would have been better off starting the LEGAL process of becoming a U.S. citizen 15 years ago. And maybe at least try to assimilate and learn the language. It would have helped him tremendously.

I wish Sikhs would learn to speak English. That would allow them to integrate better into Canadian society. Right now, the Sikh community is very isolated and fundamentalist. There is also a lot of welfare abuse and crime in the Sikh community.

Leaving the U.S. which is as free as Canada is not a reason to accept individuals based on a refugee status. Most countries are welcoming immigrants. But stop trying to jump the line ahead of others. Canada has always been great neighbors with our American counterparts. Why would immigrants think any differently ?\n\nIs it because lie-beral stations like CNN have painted Canada as a better country because we have a dope running the country who is lie-beral minded. That's the sad part, and it is a good reason to understand why President Trump calls CNN fake news. They even betray their own citizens with these lies. Canada has seen in Trudopes time all the corruption and mishandling of immigration, that Canadians has had enough of his stupidity, and he is on his way out.

How did it get to be so violent? You let too many in. When their numbers are few, they are very polite and accommodating. But as the numbers rise, so do the violent acts against the host nation. Most of the people here struggle to find work. BUT if one of those people makes a dramatic difference to your country then think how far ahead you will be. \nThe alternative is to send back the refugees or illegals and wish them well. That would be a catastrophic waste of potential life. So are you really worried about hotel costs in the grand scheme of things. Are your really? Pitiful.

A better solution would be for his voters to house them for free until,... you know, they can get back on their feet and find jobs.

I have zero issues with immigrants seeking a better life in another country, being one myself, but a few things about some immigrants baffle me always. How do people expect to be welcomed and accepted by the folks of another country when they don't even bother to learn the language. This guys been in the US for 15 years and can't speak any English? Its not the worse case , I've seen people live far longer 30 or 40 years in countries like the UK where I'm from and they cannot speak a word of English because they choose to live in a self imposed microcosm of the country they came from. \nThey have to understand that it's very insulting to native people and citizens of a country that you want to be treated as a citizen yourself but won't make efforts to adapt to the language and cultures of the country you have chosen to live in, I cannot think of a better way to ostracize yourself than failing to learn the language.\n It would be far easier to have sympathy for your cause if you are able to show that you have integrated and intend to be a citizen of that country 100% and the easiest way is to be able to communicate your cause yourself.

Ok. This guy had at least $15,000 to waste on lawyers but he left his home country to move where it is more expensive to live. Moron. He could have lived like a king on that much wherever he came from. Fix your own countries if you don't like them. Start a resistance movement and ask a foreign power to help. I’m not Canadian, so I don’t have as much of an understanding of their process; however, much like in the U.S., you have to have a legitimate and compelling reason to seek asylum, for example, those escaping a literal war in Syria where death was imminent. Not that I don’t have compassion for this man wanting to better his life and that of his family, but seeking asylum from El Salvador because they have a lackluster economy, crime and violence (while a good enough reason to relocate elsewhere) isn’t a case for asylum. *shrug* Asylum is meant for exigencies, emergencies, imminent danger, which doesn’t look like it applies here. My guess is this man thought seeking asylum would be a way to go around needing expensive documents to do a standard immigration and the process flopped on him.

Pretty sure he would have had a better chance at getting an immigrant status if he spoke the native language i mean he wont be able to work not knowing the language anyway.

I was born in Seattle and left to Canada (married) when I was in early 20's!  This then was a good change for me as Vancouver was a great city compared to Seattle, moved right downtown and had a blast so for a young person (then) was great.  Met some great people from all over the world and had health care, medical/Dental etc.... I worked in the greater Vancouver area for 8 years and it was tough, very strict, and did not help that I was from the states, white bread Canadian seemed a bit jealous that I was there, sometimes not very friendly.  The Europeans I met were actually better to deal with and I got along quite well with them.  The cost of living was about the same as in Seattle.  After about 8 years being in Canada and working hard I saw America booming and the Canadian dollar was as low as $.62 cents (in late 90's) so I took my craft from Vancouver and brought it to the US just across the border, I became much happier working in the States, I took a little bit of bs but not bad from some that I had a Canadian accent (go figure when I moved up there I had a twang) I really never left the united states I will always be American and I have been still working in the US for over 20 years and deal with mainly Americans on a daily basis from all over the State of Washington.  Depending on where you grow up or end up you should never see a border Seattle and Vancouver have more in common than Vancouver / Calgary in fact most Canadians don't care much for the other provinces.  After 30 years of being part of both countries, I can say that people are people both have great offerings and if you took the best of Canada and America to combine then we would all prosper, there is so much both can learn from each other.  Bottom line:I take the best of both worlds and what they have to offer, yes, I have found less expensive goods in Canada than what they cost in the states.  I have seen it from both eyes, and if you cant be open culturally then stay away.

The best and smartest thing any immigrant can do is to learn to speak and write English even though that's not politically correct to say. He would have been better off in the United States flying under the radar. Although with Trump as President INS will throw you out in a heartbeat. Also Obama deported quite a bit of Latin people from this country. Obama was enforcing the laws a lot of people don't want to hear that but that's true. Somebody gave this guy some bad information. Canada has the population of 30 million people. It's easier to keep track of 30 million than 350 million which is the approximate population of the United States. Also to my Republican friends Ronald Reagan naturalized and gave amnesty to 10 million Latin immigrants to this country in one swipe of his pen back in I think 1986.

If he would have took the time to learn how to speak English I think he would have a better chance. You have to put that effort

So you're accepted into the USA under a protection program, when it starts looking like your program is ending, you jump ship and start trying to ignore your program that your in that states you have to go home...\n\nThe mere fact that you're escaping to Canada shows you don't care about you immigration program and agreement, so why would we want to accept you? Americans have no idea how coniving amd evil leaders in other countries can be. Just the other day, a dictator from eritrea was bargaining prices with Israel to send back refugees from his country. He said the refugees fleeing his regime should be given 50k to be deported from isreal because they risked their lives. You would think he really meant that right? As soon as those refugees come back hes taking that money and sending them to a forced slavery like military program. There is no such thing as human rights. So if you were in such a dire situation, dont you think you would do anything to get out? The only solution i see is if the entire world could be under a larger, strong governing force that keeps leaders in check and can withold vital resources from offenders. The UN isnt cutting it.

There is no reason to down-vote this video, it does not lie, it only highlights important differences in US vs. Canada immigration systems. The Canadian system is better for Canada and would likely also be better for the US.

The amount of people prosecuted by racism is so small that we would be better to deal with individual cases also it's not going away as long as people are different well always complain about something it's in our nature

Call me whatever, but India has been dealing with this for a very long time, probably since 1980s. I dont hate islam but I dont love it either. Let's just say that I wouldnt buy a house in Muslim neighborhood. It has been a nuisance to India since a long time, every time we screamed in UN for help. We got shut down until the problem reached world wide. People say it started happening since Iraq and syrian war which is slightly incorrect. This problem has been there since ages prior to war, It just manifested on a high level recently. There are so many examples...This religion feeling which later turns into violence starts with your own house, your upbringing and your own values. If a kid is used to seeing his mom being suppressed then when he grows up, dont expect much from him. Now every community has this issue but in Muslim community it is engraved in you the moment you open your eyes on planet earth. You cannot defend the argument when someone says Women are suppressed in mulsim culture. The most hurtful thing happening is in UK. A country which gave you food, shelter, respect, a better life. You are trying to impose your values on it? As a matter of fact, good muslims should come out openly and boycott these terrorist who are trying to create chaos if they really want to show good intentions but you wont see any (for obvious reasons). They often cry about they being a victim but what about other people?? If all good muslim come out and boycott bad muslims then that would be a thing to appreciate and notice. why our countries do not boycott Muslims countries? it would be better for both of us. we don't go to their countries, nor they come to our countries.
