Absolutely timely video. I came over to Germany with a DPhil from Oxford to work in the field of langauges and teaching. I've experienced countless micro discriminations and witnessed many illegal things. That's why I wrote a book about my experiences (Swallow the Toad: from Britain to Germany). Germany has shot itself in the foot several times with its extortionate taxes and social duties, hostility and aggrsession, and incompetent workers. I'm glad the truth is finally coming to light.

Thanks for this informative video. I am a British and live in the U.K. I believe the U.K is one of the best countries in the world to be a black person. The mainstream press have not been truthful in reporting the recent protests in the U.K. It wasn't based on race, but based on a different reason, which I am unwilling to make mention, lest I be censored. As a matter of fact, the protesters were comprised of both white and non white Britons.

The racism against Germans that is so openly expressed in the comments here is unbearable. Yes, there are some bad people in Germany (basically in any country on this planet, unfortunately) who are themselves racist or discriminatory. But that is by no means the majority of Germans. I have lived here for decades and have met the most warm-hearted people. From the comments I rather gather that many who come to Germany simply extremely overestimate the demands they can (and may) make of Germany (or pretty much any other immigration-friendly country). If you come to Germany it is obvious that you have to learn German (or the local language). That is the case everywhere, including France, Italy and Korea - you name it. And if you can't do that straight away that's okay too, most Germans speak English and are very forgiving when it comes to language learners. Nobody shouts at you for not knowing German. Furthermore, Germans are very direct and don't care much about artificial and feigned friendliness. What you see is what you get. And I think that's honest and quite refreshing. \n\nThe thing is, YOU have to approach Germans and can't just expect them to roll out the red carpet for you just because you think they are in need of your workforce. The simple truth is: the standard of living in Germany is very high. The culture is diverse, and anyone who doesn't recognize this should broaden their horizons. Cities like Munich, Berlin, Stuttgart and Hamburg are beautiful, extremely multicultural and anyone who describes them as 'dull' will probably not feel at home in any city on this planet. The people are also nicer than many non-germans claim - that's obvious, because if that weren't the case, Germany wouldn't be the most popular country to immigrate within Europe amongst immigrants. Of course there are problems on the German side too. Bureaucracy, language barriers and discrimination. But they definitely don't deserve the unreasonable racism they face here in the comments. You can't criticize Germans for their alleged discriminatory behavior by unreasonably attacking and generalizing Germans themselves. Anyone who approaches Germans with prejudice and racism should not be surprised if they do not receive a friendly welcome there...

Terrible reporting. The claim that immigration is what's behind the rising cost of living, especially housing, is very much NOT an obvious fact such that you would need to consult economists to even get anywhere near an answer. Interviewing random people off the street might help with exposing potentially racist sentiment but it does little to shed light on the truth of the matter.

I'm amazed by the check list that goes on in people's minds. You can't predict the future and even your Soviet union stopped at 5 year plans. I left Canada on a whim in 1994. I've been studying the modern phenomenon of Western refugees. They label people with weaponised words, cancel them and undermind them financially when they get too close to the truth or if they know the truth and try to share it with others.\nThere is indeed only one nation left standing that has the same core values as you do and would resonate with your demographic. The truth is that your eyes have been opened by your travels. It's not so much about Canada having changed but more about you having changed.

Sadly, several reasons impact the perception that new comers have on Canadian citizens. The government cannot assume that more is the better. Also there is not a balance on the cultural and races backgrounds from the new comers creating a political polarized system beneficial for ones and damaging for others. There is no effort for maintaining Canadian values but instead an uncontrolled pluralistic system which in reality is completely forsaken by government advocacies and members of the parliament. There are currently several issues that must be addressed such as the cost of living and housing. All of this is obvious, may sound racist but is the truth. Until there is not control over such matters, the country’s situation won’t improve.

Nobody speaks up, but it's the truth. Canada use to be a squeaky clean country and well-respected around the world. Use to be in the top 5 of best places to live. Now it's not even in the top ten. Toronto as large as it is, use to be a very clean city compared to other cities in the States during Mayor Art Eggleton's day. Now it's fallen by the wayside. There are more homeless than homes. Less jobs than before and at the same time prices for everyday items have risen. Absolutely ridiculous. Somebody up there is not doing their job.
