The cost of living is insane. Every year the different levels of govt increase taxes and fees. City of vancouver now forces businesses to charge fees for bags and cups. s of Jan. 1, businesses are now banned from using single-use plastic and compostable plastic shopping bags, and must charge a minimum fee of 15 cents for paper bags, which increases to 25 cents in 2023.disposable cups will now come with price of $0.25. Death by a thousand cuts.

In Canada from last 15 years and living a decent life as a single. I have no plans to start family or to own real estate. Canada is much better than the overpopulated places I have been to before. Canada in my opinion is hybrid between developed and developing countries. It has dysfunctional health system, Government doesn't do things that would directly benefit citizens, money laundering from other countries has made real estate unaffordable for ordinary citizens, no incentive to develop new cities so 2/3 rd of the population lives in 7-8 major cities, higher inflation rates, harsh Winter.

I have never watched a more BS video than this one for Canada. This video is about 15 years out of date, especially for the safeness, and except for the housing price.

English guy from Quebec here, he forgot to mention quebec has incredibly high taxes, a sales tax of 15%!

Pretty good Adam I'd just mention a few of those things are...I don't want to say inaccurate but way more diverse. For instance French. Yes Quebec is the only French province BUT New Brunswick is the only Bilingual province and basically half and half. This is good for things like federal of provincial services because by law they must provide service in both languages but not so basically everywhere else. The problem with this is you can have an almost completely English town almost nobody speaks French and drive 15 minutes and be in a town where nobody speaks English. Research on this might be hard because a town with a French name may not have any French people in and vise versa. Also this problem is multiplied in the fact that if you Do want a French area we don't speak standard French or Quebecois but instead Le Chiac which is a difficult and confusing mix of old French and english (almost exactly like the Cajun dialect). Second part of this is that Montreal is easy to live in if you don't speak French and is so multicultural you are just apt to hear Swahili as French in public. Last part is be very careful where you move on the prairies as they have may isolated towns some that speak French also. Next is tipping I've never had to tip anyone for a haircut outside of the military and all other forms of tipping here on the east coast are purely optional and wait staff don't get upset if you don't leave a tip unless you were a jerk or left them extra work like making a big mess (I worked as cook for a while after I got out of the army and I rarely ever head staff complain) HOWEVER....tip a waitress well and she might accidentally give you 2 pieces of pie lol and tip a taxi driver well and he will not only get you the cheapest fare he will find ANYTHING you may need no questions asked. Lastly on the nice thing....we are nice for sure especially compared to our southern neighbours BUT there is a lot of passive aggressive nice that happens and this also varies greatly. For instance as a city boy of course you answered the way you did but a guy who have lived all over this country in big and small, French and English places who now has retired to a rural town I can say I find the cities quite snobby and the French and the English can be quite snobby to each other and where I live now if you asked a random stranger for 5$ chances are you would get it also driving down the road people you don't know will just wave at you as if you were the closest friends. Canada is certainly a weird place so many extremes and my advice to anyone wanting to move here is do your research and then visit and travel a bit if possible because even us Canadians can be surprised by thing or two across this gigantic country

Im canadian and that stereotype that all of canada is freezing cold is really not accurate. on the west coast we can expect a few days of snow then it melts quickly. on non snow days the climate is typically mild, around 15-20 celsius. while it wouldnt hurt to wear a jacket its definitely not freezing in every corner here. that stereotype would fit the east coast of both countries, definitely not all of canada

Then you have to do this all over again because the unions are really in charge over here, they dont want people like me moving here from the UK taking their jobs as they put it...\nWhy say to someone that, hey you can come over as you are exactly what we need! then tell them they have to go back to Collage and sit more exams and do schooling all over again.. My education is zero but I can write and able to speak normal English actually I am multiskilled Cook and has experience about it over 15 years I am looking job not only Canada it could be any countries but it should be European countries. Hi Anna and Anastasia! Just one question. If you have a lower wage salary ($12-$15 by hour that are paid in my field, Hospitality), you still have to pay 40% tax? I was so shocked the minimum wage is like $15 per hour in Canada. Retail casual workers in Australia get paid $29 per hour on week days. Then $34 per hour on Saturdays and $39 per hour on Sundays. It’s $55 per hour on public holidays

Wow what a great and accurate discussion. As a Physician, here from the UK, this is true and things are getting worse. Another negative for Canada is it is a cultural dessert. Also when I came here 15 years ago it was well paid but today not so and when you consider the tax you pay on goods taxes are more like 60% to 65%. I have been living here for 28 years (that’s most of my life, I came her as a young child). My sister’s and I have experienced first hand racism due to our hijab in elementary school, high school, after 9-11 during job interviews (myself and my brothers due to their name being Muhammed). Over time things have gotten better alhumdolillah but racism exists everywhere and many have experienced it. Where there are people that use racial slurs or acts of discrimination etc, there are many more that will support you and guide you. I love Canada and wouldn’t live anywhere else but to say it’s not there and every case is dealt with the way it was dealt with our London family, is not the case. If it was, what happens with them would not have happened. May Allah help us treat one another with tolerance and love as Islam intends it to be. I wish yall would try with racism on Homeless people. Im Homeless, and yet i get messed with. My friend is Black im White, him and i went to an apt. Rental place a year ago were both on disability. We said we were looking for a two bedroom. They told us we dont help people on disability look for an apt. They said we couldnt afford it anyway. Plus transunion eqafax, experian, ruined my life . I was working sense i was 15 years old i had Emaculate credit, they destroyed it. Your Bank was your credit now theirs these three nightmare companies, that keep doing it. I also paid people to fix it but it happened again and again. Now i cant get an apt or car those companies that help you with credit that isnt even yours because my idendtity was stolen. Those companies work with transunion, equafax, experian. It makes me sick !!
