People feel if they can eliminate another their life might finally fall in place. Hurt people hurt people. I say things that are not right but I’m learning not to, I put myself in the other person shoes. mPeople will eat(cook their food in a restaurant)from somebody of color but want live or sit next to them. Nobody woke up and chose the color they are. What is minority to you is superior to God. Tell him how you feel to his face about his decision to make all sorts of people. Stay safe tips for visible minorities:\n1. Don't go to Starbucks\n2. Don't argue with people over parking spots, just let it go let them have the parking spot\n3. Don't aruge over few dollars or cents at stores, just forget the product and walk away\n4. Don't go to bars, restaurants, or establishments where alcohol is served and or you do not feel safe\n5. Don't go to stores where you do not feel welcomed, you can always shop online\n6. Don't go to restaurants or coffee shops where you do not feel welcomed\n7. When calling into a company for help/support, and you donot feel welcomed, just hang up and call again until you speak with someone nice.\n8. Nobody really cares about your complaints, so dont call into a company to yell and scream, just cancel the service and go with another company\n9. Go with your gut feeling, sometimes you do not feel like leaving the house, just don't.\n10. In general, try to be with friends and go to places where you feel safe.

I can’t wait to live in a world when whites are truly the minority. Would love to see how they handle racism and persecution on a daily basis. Lol

Makes u wonder why ppl who are called minorities are soooo eager to immigrate to racially european countries... I can't think of many non european countries that non europeans risk life, limb, or imprisonment to immigrate to. Why not immigrate to countries where u wont face racism? The problem goes both ways. While whites should respect the multi cultural society that being respected for decades, minorities should not self isolate them. The Canadian government's immigration policies have created racism. When an immigration law is non democratically forced on the people of a country what do you expect? There was no vote in Canada to decide if we wanted to become minorities in our own country. This started with liberal Pierre Trudeau and has been supported by all governments since. Justin may be over the top but this immigration thing has been going on for 50 years and no government dare say anything for fear of losing votes.

yea visible minorities get the boot sometimes but as a white guy ive been discriminated against too when trying to find a condo. unfortunately alot of the landlords were of asian decent and ive been rejected from buying a condo till i found a white landlord who would. it happens too all of us sadly

What really hurts minorities is the lies they are forced to accept as governments cover themselves up with laws against fraud and discriminations. But there is nothing to stop people abusing their privileges even if they are a store security officer to harass certain ppl. The laws haven't caught up yet with such ppl but the same pervasive and ubiquitous cctv cameras and receipts could be used as long as the victims report to police.

I took the implicit bias test and got a minor bias toward european people. However, I do want to point out I couldn't tell if some of the faces were black or white.

I went to a community job fair in Toronto. There was an agency hiring for TDSB and TTC. They wanted to hire only people who DID NOT speak any english. There's discrimination and bias among all races. Especially Toronto since everyone is a visible minority.

I find it strange they didn't want to include an indian with a turban or some lady in a hijab but they stuck to the traditional minorities black, native canadian and a white guy.

Come to BC where whites are a minority and the story is quite the opposite. Look at craiglist ads for rental space or try applying for work here. Ironically it only makes news if you're non-white.

I agree that racism exists in Canada in a subtle form. In my experience people would have more discrimination towards minority with foreign accents. I have heard from other people commenting immigrants 'this person has accent' and to me, it can be perceived negatively. Sometimes I feel I am treated differently because I have accent, especially at working environment. Few years ago I worked in school and my white boss put this on my yearly performance: Your 'emerging' English skills can have negative impact to children's language development. I didn't tell this to anyone but was very disappointed as we are a diversified country with so many immigrants, and this should not come out from an educator's mouth.

Well, if that is the case all we need to do is have more number of minority in the shop at the same time asking some real quetion and see how busy are they then.

Follow our laws & traditions or GET OUT!! Don't expect us to follow your laws & traditions when we go to your countries!! When people go to an islamic country they are expected to follow the islamic laws (eg. women are expected to wear a table cloth on their head - ludicrous!!). Yet the same is NOT respected for American laws - muslims do NOT respect our traditions or they would take off the bed sheets & table cloths while they are in our countries (as we wear them for you in yours). It's only fair. If you don't like it then go back to your country and bring your creepy traditions with you. Women walking around in America with bed sheets look CREEPY and oppressed, whether you say you want to wear your table cloth or not, you still look OUT OF PLACE and MAKE yourself a minority. Meditate on this: We have Islamic extremism problems in places where Muslims make up a minority. Yes, those extremists make up a minority within the Muslim community. However, that is a relatively big minority.

I have recently filled out many government documents related to my recent unemployment. They all ask if I am native, female, new to Canada or part of a visible minority. The forms to do with education ask the same. Essentially what they are telling me is that there is lot's of help available unless I am a white male. This is discrimination under the charter of rights and freedoms. Cover that CBC!
