Every since this has been allowed to occur we suddenly don’t have jobs in restaurants that allows people to work without citizenship or green card. They are taking those jobs speaking no English and being used and overworked. They are easier to deal with cause they barley complain. So people(americans) are being pushed out big time. They starting with the lowest pay . Lower than what Americans would accept. I completely understand that wall?? I can’t even take a vacation without a passport to the countries and I’m not planning on staying at all. We can’t go for a few days without documentation.. let alone pick up our whole lives and cross one of those borders without being rejected. So explain to me.. what gives them that right?

During the 1930's media in various countries made immigrants and asylum seekers out to be this horrible thing and demonised them. One of themajor rallying calls: immigration. The way media report on this becomes increasingly demeaning and hateful. During the 1930's much of the European media and even as far as the UK was ramping up the scorn against the ever increasing influx of Jewish immigrants coming from Germany. Even into 1944 there was a vast amount of demonisation of them seeking asylum, despite the knowledge by this point that there were horrific conditions in camps where extermination was becoming ever more apparent. The Nazi German government in 1936 passed laws that enabled them to revoke citizenship and stripped away laws on human rights. It would be great to say that these poor souls who were being demonised in their own country were accepted into nations who could see what was going on and who wanted to help, but that just wasn't the way it went. Media played out as it is now, leading to rejection and a greater number of deaths as a result of this. The way the UK government is currently working, it actually sounds like the maxi government of the mid 30's during the time of the Nürnberg laws. \n \nThe world feels far smaller now with double the amount of people and with things like social media playing a huge role in the lives of many. The ease of access to people around the world has made issues seem to stretch to far more countries now, whereas back then it was a time of empires. I get that there will be many here who support Trump, many who support Biden, there will be Brit's who support Sunak and the rather vicious words of Suella Braverman, whilst others will be more on the side of Starmer (I'm well aware of all the other parties but they don't stand to gain as much). There will be French people backing Macron, whilst others back Le Pen. We could go through each country all the way to the battle between Fujimori and Castillo in Perú, and the stories are much the same, but how will history judge us when people look back to this time? Will it be another occasion where we demonised those trying to escape the horror of the place they had the bad luck to be born in whilst we were luckier? \n\nI know there is hardship everywhere. I'm struggling more than most and I know I can't keep living this way. However, I don't want to be a part of history people look back at and say ‘if only they did something to help prevent this.’. I would rather be a part of history people look back upon and say; ‘that was a boring time period where nothing important happened’. It's already too late for that. Instead I try to remember that, though I was born into a family who never really wanted me, I was lucky enough to be born into a country that could support me during the hardest times. When you look at immigrants, remember that every one of us has immigrants in our family tree somewhere.

The same people saying that they should start a revolution in their own country forget that the US government was the one that started the problems in those countries in the 20th century, with all the CIA-aided coups and far-right military dictatorships. One must also not forget the problems that the United Fruit Company brought to Central America. If anything, the US should embrace these people with open arms. There always will be housing. If the US stopped zoning every square inch of its land as solely single family housing, we could solve the housing crisis and accommodate a lot more people, Americans and immigrants included. That being said, the federal government needs to allocate more resources to allow these people to enter in a proper manner, something which Biden certainly hasn’t done. This is the land of opportunity, people seem to forget that. I bet the coming of thousands of people into Ellis Island in the past two centuries wasn’t labeled as an ‘invasion’.

Canadian here, and this video is right on the money for some of the most frustrating things about Canada! \n\nOur proudest achievement is our healthcare system, but up until recently, the government has been choking it little by little. Making it so difficult for any Doctor/Nurse to even consider finding work here (and making it impossible to afford getting a medical degree) because you are literally doing it for the love of the game at this point. \n\nEven if you become a specialist in a specific field (which pays really well compared to most careers here) it is unlikely any hospital will hire you. Our hospitals are only interested in making profits by pushing painkillers on Canadians, rather than hiring medical professionals to help fix them. If you become a family Doctor, it is a bit better, because you can open your own practice. But kiss your social life goodbye if you do! The most annoying part of this problem is some people blame all this on the fact that we have healthcare and assume a private American system would be better. Where the real problem is we need more workers and funding into our healthcare to make it better. Not making lives harder for poorer Canadians!\n\nWeirdly enough our Tax system issue didn't stand out as a problem to me until I left Canada and see how taxes are marked elsewhere! It blew my mind that I didn't have to do math when I visited another country and the way we advertise wages is purposely deceptive! In Ontario, we succeeded in getting a $14 hour minimum wage (only in Ontario and maybe one other province). Which sounded amazing until you realize that's $14 without tax... To compare, I was incredibly lucky in Toronto where I found a place for 750 a month and was earning $16 an hour. Sounded like more than enough for the cost of living, but after taxes I was pretty much putting more than half my monthly income in rent. On top of that I had to pay for student loans and other bills. \n\nBottom line, if you are wanting to move to Canada for our beautifully scenic environments, free healthcare, and a stable job? \n\nMove to Finland.

Yes and if these people truly believed in God and Jesus they wouldn't run from their countries but actually stay on the ground and stand strong in their faith that God and Jesus are going to help them persevere through all this. As a fully disabled American citizen with a child that doesn't even get $1,000 a month and there's no available housing at all where I live no waiting list to go on people on SSI disability don't get any extra housing help we're not offered separate housing are put on separate lists and low-income Able Body people or the migrants jumping the Border but I was born and raised here paid taxes and worked until my body literally couldn't anymore but I don't hear anybody bitching and screaming and crying about the fact that my son and I would be on the streets if it hadn't been for one of my family members stepping up and giving his housing after a lifetime restraining order issued during my pregnancy on my son's biological do do with domestic abuse situation. I'm also US citizen that spent time in the Wards in Houston and projects and other cities and if you don't think that we don't have the same gun violence drug trafficking human trafficking gangs take it over cartels taking over neighborhoods and communities than you're freaking lying to yourself and everybody else. The same s*** that's taken over these countries is taking over the inner cities have been for decades and these are the same communities that most of these people will end up in. No it's not about not being good Christians part of being a good Christian is reminding people to stand their ground and have faith in Jesus and God and their own home territory and not to give it up to the crime people in the bad politicians. You can't say you believe in God and Jesus Christ and then he's got your back while you're running and that's the truth in the reality that nobody wants to hear the more people run from these countries the more the bad people are able to take over and then we get complaints here in the states about the cost attacks is rightfully so. For those people screaming and shouting that everybody should go out pick up in my grant and bring them home to their house and feed them and take them and I challenge you to do the same thing for homeless before you even do the migrant do homeless American citizens go out and really educate yourself because I'm totally tired of hearing from Americans that the only people that live on the streets are people with mental health problems that need mental health treatment or people that are stoned out and that's where they want to be you guys are so f****** wrong and this is coming from someone that met homeless people spent time around homeless people and understand we have a society that wants to paints a very different picture than what's truly going on because then it allows for hey it's not our problem they want to be there. I remind people all the time and they hate hearing this s*** Jesus never had a house as a matter of fact Jesus basically live like a homeless person after he was an adult particularly and God made sure he was provided for. I mean did you all forget the night they came to take them away they were asleep in an Open Garden it wasn't like they popped up tents or glamper camper sites had some little Adobe type cabins they were sleeping in. As a matter of fact if you pay attention to most of the stories about Jesus and talking about him sleeping he does a lot of sleeping Outdoors. Remember God is a father that's how he's been represented and talked about in the Bible and Jesus was a man without a doubt no biological transgender question ability there. People need to remember that part of being a fair and loving. Is also teaching and discipline and these children following rules. I don't believe hearing God and Jesus telling all these people run from your countries and not have faith that I'm actually going to fix things for you and go run to somebody else actually go run to the United States where all those stuff is traveling through. As a native Venezuelan who legally immigrated to the United States, served in the Navy for 22 years, and became a U.S. Citizen, and a contributing member of society, watching this enrages me. No one has the right to come into any country illegally. I get their plight, but they still need to enter correctly. I know Venezuela's situation is terrible, but either fix it (by whatever means you have) or apply for asylum. Forcing yourself into a sovereign nation is illegal.

We're polite and nice until we're taken advantage of or treated like an idiot! Kindness is important, but doing what's morally right is more important to me personally! So if that means me speaking up or calling out bs when I see it, I will! I do believe in giving each person their own clean slate. I adjust according to the person! That just means I don't assume anything about a person based on race, the job they have, the car they drive, how they look, the clothes they wear. Those things have no bearing on how I choose friends! It's all about the content of one's character! I do keep to myself most of the time but strive to be kind and polite when I'm around others! But everyone is different. You will run into aholes anywhere you go! Canada is NO EXCEPTION. You have to be careful still about how you move. You can find people that are so unkind. You can also find some of the nicest people in the world here. I imagine the same can be said about any country. Our government certainly doesn't represent us personally. We all have our own personalities and lives! And I don't judge others based on their race religion or their government at home! When I was a kid there was no shortage of people letting me know I'd never amount to anything. So yeah you can find aholes anywhere you go! Please don't leave yourself vulnerable and assume everyone here has good intentions! Especially if you travel alone! We still have a lot of issues you probably never heard of! Only the true Canadians ( First nations) have a right to say whatever they want about immigration. If your parents came from somewhere (which is probably the case in canada) pls kindly keep quiet cos you're just one over privileged kid, who has no clue what your ancestors did to help you become Canadian! There is a huge backlog on legal applications for a lots of immigrants who applied legally, families torn apart and have long weight. They are already in the USA, there are sanctuary cities, New York was just dumping them off there. We tax payers are flipping the bills for them while so many Canadians are living on the streets. Those who are mad and outrage by this, you can go ahead and sponsor them, that mean you are legally responsible for all their expenses. As Canadians, even when we cross the border we got to have our passport and we go through a lots of scrutiny. Fill out the paperwork and wait to be processed, because right now we are already in crisis with lodging and food. USA is the one who must take care of those who cross their borders.

How is this not considered a hostile invasion and why isn't the border protected like other counties where trying to sneak in is considered a threat to security of its citizens. Millions of leaches that have never paid a dime into this countries assistance programs are bleeding us dry while working under the table and selling their food assistance money while creating Millions of victims in the process. There is supposedly an agreement between Canada and the US called the Safe Third Country Agreement which means illegal immigrants are supposed to apply for asylum in the first country they come to. Unfortunately, because of Trump, the Canadian government doesn't trust any US government to give these asylum seekers a fair hearing. Second, this agreement only applies to official border crossings, not unofficial ones like Roxham Road. Trudeau is absolutely right in wanting to renegotiate the Safe Third Country Agreement.

I have mixed feelings about this. I feel like a total first letter of the alphabet-hole for not thinking of helping right away. When I lived in San Diego, it was a palpable daily reminder. Lots of people have cross-border lives. Family, work, home is on either side of the border. Now living up in Washington State, it's different. Here the border with Canada is all about preventing Canadians from stealing technology from us while allowing them to work for us. Some partners who come visit us often times get searched for technology. Like pen drives, samples, etc. It's a totally different story. Canada probably has less homeless than all of south America. It's an easy claim because literally, if you can't insulate your self in winter you go visit the great gardener Jesus and his weirdo multipersonality disorder. In south America, you just need to eat and not get eaten by things. So the result is that people survive way below the poverty line. Then, the big lie tells them that the US is better so they come over to eventually learn how the others found the three headed gardener the hard way. I feel like maybe if they got a tour of the country and learned how shitty it is to live here too, they might think twice about coming over. There are periods and ways when the US opens it's borders but it's looking like a real shit show right now. We don't have enough jobs and not enough houses to house everyone. At least in south America you can live in the family house and no one bats an eye. People help each other in poverty.

Take a good hard look at what drug users are doing to these people. Cartels have taken over Mexico and many south of the border countries. Look into the avocado market as one example. If they don't pay the cartels they and their families are m****d. In many cases farms are stolen right from under their feet along with everything else they own. They live in constant fear of brutal violence, many are forced into being drug mules. The police and their governments are in on the take so there is nothing they can do. Illegal drug use keeps this industry going. Start taking responsibility. It's not just about you.

Well ,there it is than. I live in the Netherlands and as a Dutch I can tell you we pay also a lot of tax compared to our salary, but public facilities, healthcare, roads, buildings and almost everything else is insanely well arranged. But I wonder, I often see that salaries in the USA and Canada easily can be 80K-150K for 'normal' jobs........well in the Netherlands by far most people do not make 50K a year before tax. So if your are complaining in Canada that the taxes are so high, than there is no other explanation that in the basis goods/services/utility bills are much more expensive compared to your salary right? Well Canada is a great country, my grand parents were able to get here in 1957 with their 3 kids, after going through and surviving WWII, work in Europe was scarce and employers were abusing their workers everywhere. My dad was one of those 3 children's, he met my mother here, they had me and my sister. Today i have 3 boys of my own and my sister has 2 girls. Canada has any country as their plusses and minuses, but i wouldn't live anywhere else. I've lived my whole life on the south shore of Montréal, worked in and around Montréal for 35 years. Never ran out of work as long as i was willing and able to work. I've worked in all my life, 65% immigrants and 35% Québecer's. There both are kinda racists in some way and they have there own reasons as well. I was bullied in school till i was 11 years old, i had an accent and dressed differently since my dad made our clothing. Being ridiculed, pushed, punched etc, and then one day the bully of the school approached me and wanted to fight me. I was scared, everyone else were laughing, so i clenched my fist and punched that kid right on the nose. Everyone got quiet and the principal came out, we went to his office and then he asked me straight away : Are you gonna do this again or was it a one time thing ?? I said it will be one time thing unless someone else wants to fight me again, then i will have to defend myself again. He said ok and now go back to class, and that was that. But in the 1970's with the augmentation of people moving here after WWII, people in Canada were scared immigrants would steal their jobs etc. My grand father worked all his life till he died at 82 years old. Worked 6 days a week, 12 to 16 hours a day. My dad had worked all his life 70 hours a week and sometimes 85 hours a week. People complaining about doctors or hospitals, a lot are going in for a cold, the flu, headaches etc, for sure take 2 aspirin or tylenol and stay home, no need to see a doctor for that. If you have a broken limb or were in an accident, you go right in and get fixed up without issue really. Any country as it's inconveniences in the end ?

Quebec banning the hijab was literally ending racism. Catholic habits had been banned for decades. They finally said that if one religion isn't allowed, neither will the other one be allowed. That's called equality, not racism. I have no love for Quebec, but the one thing they do get right, is they treat different people groups (aside from French/English division) more or less the same. The big difference between both countries, is that it is slow and harder to find jobs in Canada, in USA you find jobs of all type right away. about health services , Canadian one is great, but in USA, if you are ilegal, or unemploye or if you dont have private insurance the goverment pay your bills , it is called Medicare, it is for low income people. So both countries have different systems and both work well.

My husband’s family in Morocco leave their front door open all night sometimes and we just are 99.9% sure that nobody will mess with them. I’ve walked by many people’s homes who had their doors open. My husband and I lived in Marrakech, and we left our patio door open all night many times. Granted, the patio was fenced in, but I wouldn’t even leave my balcony door open in the US. When I lived in NYC I seriously had somebody climb up my building one time and try to get in my window.
