The infrastructure is not in place. The healthcare system is a mess. Housing is a mess. Mass amounts of people are living on the streets. These are all symptoms of a failing government. We need a change.

Government is going to need such immigrants as new soldiers for the upcoming war

Irony is all these people who are getting interviewed are first and second generation immigrants as well. Due to the inbuild hate towards other immigrants you would only get one answer which is there are too many. One thing that no one seems to be understanding is excessive immigration was never a problem since Canada is so big that by the pace it's going and with the ageing population it still needs immigration to keep our economy afloat. Since the elections are coming and Liberals know they ain't coming back, this is just a one last hope for them to bring this sensitive topic because they know people would unite since the majority of people in here already have a hate towards immigrants just to win back the votes. It's the governments fault for not being able to keep up with the necessary housing and healthcare needed for the people. You all should be protesting against the government for sending money for the war and giving away in the name of philanthropy. And I don't understand why True North spread hates all over instead of uniting people. And by the way I am a Canadian citizen and I strongly support the immigration big time.

All you need to do is ask regular people from Ottawa to Toronto and you'll find out that one city says another thing while another city says another. It's all centrist circlejerk politics. The only people that talk about immigration and try to do even a moderate about of fascism is Quebec... disguised as French identity, of course. It's funny though, if you genuinely ask people, you'll find they don't like it. But if you ask people working for the government, health care, they are the most entitled, stuck up and naive people imaginable. We also need to crack down on the aggressive sales practices of immigration consultants in developing nations like India. Let's not forget the big culprits behind this: the admissions officers of the colleges, who fully endorse these practices to meet their revenue targets by any means possible, all under the watchful eyes of the government and IRCC.\n\nI've witnessed this firsthand. I openly challenge those consultants and Canadian college admission officers to be upfront with prospective and future students and tell them in person, before accepting their applications, that a study permit does not guarantee permanent residency in Canada. Explain the rules behind that and see what happens next—people will stop coming to Canada altogether. Consultants and colleges need to be honest with their prospective students and not just include those important facts in a fine print under a bunch of paperwork. \n\nAnd my god, the programs most colleges sell—useless diplomas that are of no use in their home countries either. So many towns that were once beautiful have been ruined by immigration. The way the government has poorly planned immigration is the problem. The federal government has no standards for who immigrates to Canada and they should be voted out!

The government is in favour of mass immigration because it is the only way they can pay for the greatly expanded government. If you increase the size of the civil service by 40% it stands to reason that you would need to increase the population by 40% in order to pay for it.

The worst part is they take advantage of the governments loopholes, they don't respect Canadian culture... and like one of the interviewees said, they are only accepting their kind in workplaces. Lived in Mississauga for 30 years, never use to be like this. One more thing I need to get off my chest... as a renter myself, its becoming increasingly hard to find housing. If I find an ad that looks good, 80% of the time it asks for punjabi only, gujarati only, vegetarian only.... how is this legal?

Being Indian, I think your government should have clear mapping between immigrant and value she is adding to economy. Unnecessarily for appeasement if they keep on allowing criminals, Canada will be worst. Also Indians need to mix up more there if they are immigrating, rather than having isolated communities.

The government should heavily tax second homes and corporate-owned homes and invest the proceeds in affordable housing.We need more regulation, not less.

But why is Immigration allowed in Canada at the first place. Do you guys know the reason? Thats because of aging population and someone was needed to pay for your retirement. So if Indians chose to come here and work hard why do you have the problem. Immigration is a point based system in Canada. If Indians are getting good points than other countries , is that problem? It wasn't like this 8 years ago and there's so many people of a certain demographic that outnumbers the others. Now, it's really hard to find a part-time job as student and our healthcare system is plummeting as well. Why we keep accepting them when we can't even afford to help our own citizens? This current government needs to step-down now; we don't speak for them. The fact that these people are able to rally in our country is absurd and they don't even have the rights in our country. This shows how weak the Canadian law is. They don't respect us and they mock our system.

No international student(or Indian) will come to Canada if there is no route to PR. Do you think Canadian colleges and universities are very high in the ranking list? Not at all. So imagine if students only had the option to return home after graduation, none will come to Canada and the economy will suffer. International students exploitation is happening on the federal level, then why bother with Provincial and colleges? These are temporary visas but ultimately, PR(settlement in a new country) is the goal, otherwise these students will not pack their lives and come over here.\n\nReference: I came to Canada in 2022 and left in early 2024. There are many reasons why I left but one I felt was the demographic shift and the amount of refugees that country accepts. Additionally Canada needs to raise the bar on the quality of people coming in. As a Canadian citizen, I see that there are 3 major issues at play in this problem - \n\n1) Canadian colleges are starved off funds and do not have a sufficient, stable source of revenue. Hence they seek to attract international students who pay (at least) 4X the fee a Canadian citizen would pay. According to mainstream media such as The Globe and Mail, National Post and others, International students contribute some where between $15 to $18 billion per year in revenue to Canada. This is huge!\n\nSince this is a lucrative revenue stream for them, they have gone overboard and are providing strong financial incentives to education / immigration consultants to bring more international students here. Consequently, many existing as well as new colleges are encashing on this trend and diploma mills have mushroomed in Canada lately. This is ABSOLUTELY Canada’s fault and the accountability of fixing this lies with Canada alone.\n\n2. International students who come here often end up taking humongous debt or selling off their homes/ancestral property to be able to afford their education and hence they feel cheated when the dream they were sold doesn’t match the reality. \n\nHaving said that, International students do need to understand that they are here or a temporary visa and DO NOT get to dictate terms to Canada. It is Canada’s sole prerogative to extend their work visa or not, depending upon Canadians requirements.\n\n3. The Trudeau Liberal government benefits by giving these students extended work permits and a pathway to citizenship as it translates into votes for them. However this is an atrocious approach to winning elections and puts unnecessary pressure on the system. \n\nCanada needs to streamline this whole student visa process and take stringent action against these fake diploma mills, education and immigration consultants luring foreign students. It damages Canada’s reputation.\n\nLastly, extend the work permits of only those students that meet Canada’s labour standards and requirements and send everyone else back home.

I am shocked to hear this from a CBC reporter saying IMMIGRANTS get money from the government!! Where on earth did you get this ,outrageous information!! People who apply to come to Canada as legal immigrants , have to go through a strict points system.that can take years . Plus medical and security checks. They have to speak English or French , be educated and most of all have a skill ,trade or profession that Canada needs!as Canada does not have enough highly skilled workers. Like IT professionals, doctors ,engineers, nurses etc. They have to have a job offer .etc etc .They have to have the means to support themselves and their family . Instead of blaming these people, one must question their own government authorities who make the rules and legislation to facilitate this. Maybe it's just the truth of a desperate Canadian economy that needs immigrants to keep fueling the 'aging' Canadian economic engine. These people come in and work hard, odd jobs (not to mention the exceptional skilled ones as well like Doctors, health care workers etc.) which the regular Canadian wouldn't do. I've been in Canada for 2 years without a Family doctor. Thank God, the last 10 different Doctors I met were all fresh immigrants and came to my rescue. Ask your conscience, without these immigrants, you wouldn't be getting your late night coffee at the time Hortons drive thru, no one to take your blood works without you waiting several months in waiting, no ways for universities to subsidize tuition fees for the poorer Canadian students. If immigrants stop coming in, the nice detached home you live in will go down in value, the nice truck you drive will become more expensive, your kids University tuition fees will sky rocket, Canadian companies selling groceries, furniture, etc. Will have lesser revenue and eventually get eaten up be American giants, Canadian companies won't have cheap labour to build those much needed housing. \nNot only question your government, but also question your 'own' people.. Work permit extension should only for grads level international students, such as Masters of PhD; and only student in urgently- needed job sectors. Government of Canada was doing the otherwise. Time to correct it now. Stop giving universal work permits to international students. Learn from Australia and the States.

New immigrants dont integrate in Canada or Canadian life. The priviledge of going to school is for study not PR. Its not a back door immigration program. You dont go to any other country and make demands or protest. Few if any go in the needed trades so time to go home. The numbers are unsustainable and its killing communities with housing and jobs as well as limited resources like healthcare and education. Governments and post secondary have failed Canadians who have had enough of paying the price and need borders closed. It's sad that so many Canadians have to move from their hometowns/provinces in droves to financially survive and get ahead a little. Unfortunately, the droves of people fleeing Ontario and BC are driving up prices now (to buy/rent) in other parts of Canada like Alberta and Atlantic Canada where this is having a trickle effect creating Albertans, Nova Scotians, etc. to be homeless and strains on their provincial healthcare systems. It's a sad state of affairs, and I do not think a politician can fix this, unless they start demanding more and curtailing the power of corporations. A big rebalance needs to occur, but it seems unlikely when politicians and business leaders are on the same side (aka corruption / conflict of their own interests). Canada needs a division between government and business which is the case in many Scandinavian countries.

What Canada NEEDS is AFFORDABLE Housing for the working poor, OW, ODSP and get the homeless who want housing.\n\nAll Pubic Colleges and Universities should be AUTOMATICALLY adding a housing cost for International Students. This way these foreigners aren't creating housing problems for the local community. So Colleges and Universities should be buying property within REASONABLE DISTANCE from their Campuses that are only for CURRENT STUDENTS actually taking classes. \n\nThe Government needs to be RESPONSIBLE for LOW INCOME housing. More people are finding themselves unable to take care of themselves. Which leads to severe drug abuse and homelessness.\n\nNew Development should be required to be the most effective version and sustainable version of Green. 15% of the apartments should be for low income, OW, ODSP and Elderly. This will help the Government properly plan out Public Housing across each Province and Territories.\n\nThe next question is why are all these East Indians who aren't becoming TRUSTWORTHY doctors, nurses, business owners competing to live in Parkdale, Toronto versus the East Indian Hubs in Ontario.

i grew up in Brampton 20 years ago, a child of Caribbean parents. Whenever I go back I can say Yes, Brampton has changed over the years. I also remember that white/Canadian people were always the population struggling with substance abuse- particularly in the downtown area. Conflating the influx of indians with the downturn of white canadians seems to just fuel animosity and scape goat the issue onto a population of people that's probably just trying to seek a better life. why not ask the government to provide better social programs for those in need rather than fueling hate ? Why not investigate the structural issues that have contributed to this situation i.e. politicians gaining votes by doing xyz, or look into what people may be facing in the homelands? That would be a better piece of journalism imo. I think this video is highlighting this issue in ways history has seen before... can't we do better?

I mean, all the government needs to do is stop immigration from India and open it up to other countries. They have done it the past, to other countries, they can do it again. Before that, they HAVE to fix the immigration regulations.

Twenty years ago I left Canada and boy am I glad I did so. The country has turned into a disaster unless you're rich. The obsene house and rental prices are obviously the result of gross mismanagement. I mean, the government employs economists who should be able to advise that too many buyers and too few houses is going to lead to major trouble. A rich country with so much land should not have this problem. When it comes to gas prices, Canadians have to drive some of the longest distances in the world and are forced to pay such high gas prices. Since there is almost no public transportation, what choice to people have but drive. Regarding the grocery situation, allowing a handful of massive companies hold Canadians ransom is complete bullshit. This is where the government needs to do something to rein in this behavior. Obviously people need to eat but allowing these companies to rake in obsene profits because of this basic need is a crime. I hate the idea of a PC government, but the Liberals have definitely failed.

I don't understand the reason why they need to study in Canada well infact they have their degrees already backhome but the real goal is just to get permanent resident and sucking government benefits. Canada’s statistics are no different than Australia, USA and France for example in terms of homelessness and home ownership. Our foreign born population is about 20% -Australia it’s 22% - the USA the most immigrant fearing nation around has only 13% - that’s something to strive for lady!. \n\nCanada needs immigrants and lots of them to fill positions Canadian borns are too posh to do. \n\nWorld wide interest rates are high, housing developers are running into delays with things like world wide shortages and local communities having long convoluted permit processes, and volatile prices for home construction materials etc. \n\nWe Canadians are happy to buy from Chinese and USA manufacturers to the point we depend yet again on global markets. \n\nThe bottom line is the Provinces have authority over housing and haven’t wanted the Federal Government to butt in at all. It’s something that we have CMHC for mortgages and assistance to developers - but where are the developers? Not enough profit these days is there. \n\nI think we the people have failed in many ways. We need a scape goat and Trudeau is a very handy target. \n\nCanadians aren’t interested in repopulating by having more than one or two kids and so in order to sustain our economy and fill positions where do people think skilled and unskilled workers are coming from. Apparently being a nurse for example is not an occupation our children want nor do they want to clean toilets or work at Walmart or 7-Eleven. \n\nWe love shopping at Walmart with all its cheap Chinese goods and refuse to shop local businesses. \nWe get what we deserve. A colonial people have left their part of the world to Canada. Upon arrival, they have protested and forced the responsibility on the Canadian government. They have influenced younger Canadians to now wave a flag that isn’t Canada. \nUs as Canadians absolutely need to grow a pair and stand up for OUR country and OUR flag. \nOUR Canadian veterans fought for OUR freedoms and OUR flag ??

I don't think charging stations need food love or anything but yet they'll put all this money into these stupid things what about the people the people that you forgot about and the people are so stupid that they don't realize that the government gave up on them like 10 years ago

Higher education is a provincial responsibility, however who issues the visa is the federal government. So the federal government needs take accountability when they are stamping visas to low level schools that are clearly exploiting international students

As a Canadian who didn't vote for Trudeau even once, we deserve what's going on. The average Canadian prefer comforting lies over uneasy truths. We are asleep and need an even ruder awakening than the one we're seeing now. Every government is a reflection of its citizens, even in dictatorships... it just means the citizens are cowards and not willing to do what it takes to topple.

Dear blame it on your politicians.They wanted cheap labor and that cheap labor also bring along millions of dollars that partial run Canadian economy .Then the international students majority of whom again from India add billions to the Canadian economy.If you need money and the cheap labor then you have no option but to bear them.Canadian are used to living on various government doles and they do not do the hard work while these immigrants are fighting for their survival, work terribly hard and that too at very cheap rates and they save a part of their earnings which eventually make them home owners.Canadian on the contrary used to living on government aid at many the levels, earn, spend and enjoy and thats the reason they are homeless.Sorry for making ripples.
