As a Canadian, I am heartbroken that America is no longer our ally. The trust lost and gains that were there in the past are likely never going to return.

The US is our biggest ally here in Costa Rica but I can´t agree with what Trump did, does and will continue to do. Disrespectful to all countries. I'm sure the majority here are rooting for Canada and Mexico.\nIts time for the world to remind the US that they need us all and not the other way around.

As an American who was born here and live here for over 50 years, I am so ashamed of this government, the republican politicians and some of the democratic politicians. The MAGA cult is overwhelming our everyday lives in combination with Trump, Vance and Musk vast amounts of lies, deceit, disrespect for the low-middle class American families, cozying up to the fascist dictator Putin, turning your back on our best ally Canada by instigating these ridiculous tariffs, and a whole host of other atrocities that have occurred in the past few weeks. Let this sink in... in the past few weeks! What is it going to be like in a few months or by the end of this term? With the way it's going, we're going to be damned lucky that we're going to be here at all, otherwise Trump and Putin can rule over a nuclear decimated scorched earth. Americans that are already sick, tired and completely fed up with all of the grandiose shit-storm actions coming out of the White House, please do what you absolutely can to shout from the rooftops, we will not concede, we will not bow down and kiss the ring, we will not be bullied and we will not stand idly by and watch a narcissistic, misogynistic, blow-hard dictator-loving(Putin), felonious bully and all his butt-munching fuck-tard cronies burn this country to the ground. RESISTANCE!

If your insane president won't back down, electricity will be cut off, and potash and nickel will no longer be exported. Agreements with Homeland security will be canceled, NORAD may be cancelled, and cross border travel will be severely restricted soon. Canadian armed forces will be standing by to halt an American military operation, and our European Allies will join us for what we hope will only be another cold war.

If you voted for Trump, you are directly responsible for this. Kamala would’ve at least respected the constitution, and relationships with allies. Trump is a danger to global peace and stability, he has only been in office for 2 months has been tearing up everything you stand for day by day. My sympathies go to the US citizens that didn’t want trump but are now losing their global standing because of him. If he continues as he has done so far, I expect escalation and a war that nobody wants.

Who convinced Trump of this? I like him but this trade war against Canada isn’t the way to go, really. I feel Canadians were mistakenly targeted. US needs allies not foes. Proud of Trudeau for the first time. I don’t live in the US but in Canada at the moment, not Canadian either, but I’m very objective in my perception about these occurrences. I hope America makes peace with Canada so strengthen both sides, hmmm.

As an American, I want to say that I have never seen a more toxic administration in my life. Not only are they hurting Americans but they are hurting Americas longstanding allies. This is not about tariffs. It is about Trump unravelling all of America's relationships with its allies, to make the country weaker, in the service of Putin. Canada is just the first. But Europe will be next. Then America stands alone, too weak to be a world leader.

Like Russia, Canada has key strategic resources and huge oil and gas reserves. The west could not cause the collapse of the Russian economy after it invaded Ukraine because of that key fact. Canada will eventually find other markets for its natural resources. This is a sad fact as integrating our economy with the U.S. has been a great benefit to both countries. You buy our natural resources, we buy your manufactured goods. Too bad, this administration does not see this simply reality. Don't get me wrong, Canada will suffer MORE than the U.S. as our economy is much smaller, but it will survive and once it decouples its economy from that of the U.S., it will be fine. The U.S. on the other hand is breaking treaties with longtime allies and isolating itself on the world stage. It is squandering its place as world leader and world superpower. China is licking its chops.

I'm not American. I grew up hearing lots of hate bout USA cuz the US doesn't exactly have a good rep in foreign policies - always bullying other nations, starting wars for oil etc. but I've always preferred USA not just for the world order it brings, it allows different voices, criticism & scolding towards its leaders compared to China, Russia & North Korea. \n\nin the US, you can talk bad bout politicians in power, or probably make movies bout these kind of things like US invading other countries for oil, or testing out some cruel AI military robots on humans (movie name: Monsters of Man), & you won't be persecuted. but after looking at a bunch of executive orders Trump has signed, the way he (& JD Vance) treated Zelenski & Canada, I don't know if I still feel the same bout USA anymore.\n\nif USA doesn't wanna continue spending on Ukraine, perhaps USA shouldn't have sweet talked Ukraine into denuclearization thru the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. that's what you get for mendling with other countries' affairs. by stopping US aid & wanting a new mineral deal, Trump's refusing to follow the Memorandum (I added this sentence thru edit as I can't reply to the comment below).\n\nunderstandably, US & UK don't need to deploy troops in Ukraine as the security assurance in the memorandum wasn't clearly defined, but it also didn't mention that Ukraine should pay the US back financially, nor any mineral concessions. \n\nTrump always wanting a purely 1 sided deal will only isolate USA from more allies.

Russia bailed out Trump after his bankruptcies so he owes them. Bannon is on record strategically arranging the turn of America from allies to Russia. Trump is selling out his citizens for personal gain.

Trump's actions are not those of an ally. He's a terrorist that wants to annex Canada like Putin did with Ukraine.

As a US citizen, I apologize on behalf of this corrupt administration. I certainly didn't vote for the ??, and I'm not sure how anyone could have... yet, here we are. The tariffs make sense from the position of trump being an ally with putin. trump is punishing countries that have supported Ukraine, thinking that if he weakens these countries with tarrifs, these same countries will turn inward and discontinue their support of Ukraine.
