To avoid future problems, just don’t rent your units to these people. \n\nThey have extra rights that’s you don’t have. They are allowed to take goods out of the store without paying. They can be captured for serious crimes in the morning and being bailed out in the evening.

This is reality. My friend had the same situation. Some people just condo hop for years, never paying and misusing the law and financially damaging others without consequence. The LTB can't even make them pay. They can only evict. It's absurd.

As a former Ontario landlord, key word being former, DO NOT RENT ANY UNITS OUT IN ONTARIO! Rent is the only thing the government allows you to steal. If I owned a corner store and I caught people stealing candy bars from me, then found out it takes at least a year to get a hearing with the CandyBay Tribunal to force thieves from walking off with my candy bars.....I WOULD STOP SELLING CANDY BARS! If you are renting a property in Ontario, your tenants could stop paying you. Then use 'Cash For Keys' to extort you for dozens of thousands of dollars, in plain words, EXTORTION. This is the cold reality of Ontario, find another way to make money....

I think I saw that young woman on the news a while ago saying her rent was going up . two sisters anyways . I'm sorry to her about her sister. but you have a rental agreement with Mr Singh and should adhere to it or get out . and the other people should get out of that house also or keep paying your rent till you come to an agreement with the owner of the home in Brampton . the law has to change .

As a landlord - I had this happen to me .\n$35k in unpaid rent which I never got back after the tenant moved out .\nI learnt that the tenant had done this to 2 other landlords prior .\nIt’s a shame - my house was priced fairly and was a brand new home . There was no reason to pay other than greed .\nI have since sold the home and moved on : it’s one less home for people who can’t afford to buy at the moment to rent .\nThis stupid system needs to be overhauled .

Why are rents so high? This is a part of it. All landlords must include the risk of not getting paid for years. All renters pay for people like this. Leftist policies hurt everyone.

This is absurd, she didn't pay rent she should be booted in a month. If the tenant board can't sort themselves out vigilantism is coming to a country near you, our legal system can't take care of it, people will start to take care of it themselves.

Look, the challenging housing market is not this man's problem to fix. He rented his home out, they agreed on terms, she violated them repeatedly. What do you want from him, hes a charity?? My advise to landlords, do not rent to “such” people. Newcomers on work permits or student visas are a better bet because they will pay out of fear of losing their credit or status in Canada

My landlord has like 10 properties that he uses illegally in things like airbnb and renting on cash. On just the top floor, there are like 10 people and I am paying like $1650 for a single room with ensuite washroom. This landlord subleases the house for things like airbnb and he is not even the owner and yeah basically, Canada is country where all the con men come from around the world where they have learned to find loopholes in the system come to practice it here. We can't even dream of having a house of our own because these people with crazy money just buy up all the properties. 1 man ends up having so many houses where others can't even buy 1 and so we have to resort to paying rent/morgage of these people who keep multiplying their properties.

I live in a suburban area with a lot of townhouses around. This goes on all the time with rental houses too. People move in and immediately start to milk the system. They leave after a year of not paying rent and trashing the house too.

Pay up or get out. Landlords should be allowed by law to change the locks and keep every single item in the condo/house or drag these people out with force. Absolutely disgusting that people can get away with this crap in this country.

Please add to this the many homeless healthcare workers who have great educations and are not paid the best and are told to wait for housing because there are more people coming to the country and the homeless healthcare workers are the ones who are taking care of the newcomers who are housed while the healthcare workers are asked to wait - some are even MD's who are waiting in their country of birth because they are self-employed and have to pay overhead , staff and medical equipment and supplies. Please let's house our homeless healthcare workers in all the major cities.

immigration is the sold out left wings peoples way to please there corporate overlords. i am a hardcore union and labour guy flooding the work market with immigration workers limits our ability to negotiate for better pay meaning companies can take more.\n\ni am not against immigration in total to have growth in the west and fill in the birth shortfalls we need immigrants. but the amount the west has taken in is much greater than we can expect grow and only causes us to get homelessness and gettos while the haves struggles to raise wages. what the common man wants is reasonable figures of immigrations and due to the flood might mean the coming years 0 immigrants is on the table.

Man I love reading the comments in this video! We also face a similar challenge in other countries that housing is a crisis and governments keep bringing in all sorts of immigrants, from refugees to highly skilled people (like myself). I have switched 5 cities and the story either gets more worse or less worse. Half a year searching for a decent apartment? Some search for years! It's a full time job. The government gets back to my request after many months! Foreigners offices are packed with applications and citizenship is taking years long now. Getting a doctor appointment (psychological issues) within a year is hard, unless you pay from pocket or are in grave danger. We are being squeezed in here and they started new loose immigration policies to be more attractive to foreigners. Address the quality of life at the same time!

That is insane . Shame on the freeloaders who cry because they can't pay up . Don't get me wrong, I'm on a disability and live in subsidized housing but I would be uber embarrassed to be against an eviction and just avoid my responsibility . The housing crisis is here too , BC, but that condo looks pretty upscale and far out of most people's means . I feel badly for the landowners who shouldn't be made to support those who can't.

Follow the money. Rapid population growth makes rich people even richer, and they don't want anything to change. Asset owners, real estate investors, universities, construction companies, retailers etc etc all benefit. Working poor and the migrants themselves pay the price

Thanks to Doug Ford there is more investors than landlord, the difference is both is using the system to cash in, investors people who is having more than one property is using the system Ford implemented to have tenants pay their mortgage while people are struggling. investors is greed is causing the problem giving tenants a bad name

Our nations are our homes. Our borders are the national equivalent of the walls and doors of our houses. We, our parents and grandparents have worked hard to make our nation/homes comfortable for our children and our children's children, who are, oddly enough, of the same race as ourselves. Power stations, water and power distribution networks, sewerage, buildings, mines and farms etc. did not fall from the sky.\n\nBurglars want better lives. That is why they go into other people's homes to get a share of the stuff that the residents have worked had to pay for. Modern migrants are like burglars. Our governments are giving our homes away to burglars.

People shouldn’t be allowed to scam and not pay rents. But I also don’t believe people should be allowed to own residential properties as investments. Theres no shortage of other things to invest your money in. If people couldn’t own residential properties for renting purposes these scammers wouldn’t be able to do this. They would have to buy a home or nothing. Also homes would be less expensive with no investors in the market.

I always thought we should pay Mexicans to stay in Mexico and make Mexico great. Instead of us paying for everything under the sun for them in dollars, we could have paid them in pesos to build housing, rec centers, community centers, churches, hospitals, roads, etc .. .. I'm all for helping people, and being charitable. I don't mind helping people but for God's sake we don't spend 80 million on a city budget for helping the homeless. Yes, you might get away with a year or 2 of not paying rent, but at some point, you'll get evicted, and your name will be on the Openroom website, how TF then you'll get a landlord to accept your application then ? You might saved 20 or 30K, but you'll spend it in few months living in a hotel hoping for someone to rent you their place

When a commodity is scarce, its value rises. Labor is a commodity. Workers rightly do not want there to be a surplus of labor. Their livelihoods are threatened. \n\n(5) Future care of the old: the more people we add now, the more people we will have to take care of later, when their working lives are done. Adding immigrants now to pay for the care of the old is therefore a pyramid scheme. Eventually, in a generation or two, the population of the world is set to decline, and the well of immigrants will run dry. Canada should aim for fewer, rather than more, retirees – as preparation for that coming moment.

Im a teenager living in Toronto and its hard seeing rent for my cramped apartment go up when its already hard for family to pay. The only way I think I can be happy is to move away as so many people come in to the country I hold dear.

People from india, philippines, china paying thousands of dollar to government and colleges infrastructure, and who are refugees coming from ukraine get paid by government its failure of government.

The lady at 7:55 hit the nail on head. People blame immigrants for $3K rents. If anything, immigrants are driving down rents because they can't pay nowhere near that kind of money. The fact is that capitalism is kicking into high gear, there are Canadians who make enormous amount of money in the new digital economy, and they are paying 2 million dollars for a house or 5K rents, and that tide of affluance is lifting all the boats across. Its the very successful Canadians who are outpricing the average Canadians from living in Canada.

I understand the concern, but asking for asylum does not guarantee you to stay in Canada. Now, in marine transportation, if stoaways/crew members fleet or ask for asylum the marine transportation has to pay fees and is considered responsible for them ... its up to the company to make sure this does not happen... regardless of laws people will do this

Let's be clear here, it started many years ago when Harper was in charge. The Conservative Government lured educated foreigners to Canada with the promise of great, high paying jobs, and once they got here, once they left EVERYTHING, including their families behind, were told they would have to go back to school in order to be certified. It's a con, the government is a con. The Conservatives, the Liberals, the NDP, the system currently in place...is nothing more than a con.\nAll politicians are liars, all governmental systems are corrupt and nothing will ever change until We The People, take their power away, destroy the current system and rebuild. I got laid off 5 weeks ago ( no renewal of contract).. after 7 years working for that NFP.. I applied for snap and unemployment… while applying for jobs( social worker field)… first, they ask for so many documents… including my bank account….( again I was laid off .. not fired nor left my job, nor finding reasons not to work all those years ), department of labor had a mandated zoom meeting to discuss what I needed to do 4 weeks after I was laid off( like i don’t know)… I ve been working for years and paying taxes… a lot of them in NYC, I was also told that I have to show what I am doing to search for work and eventually should take a job( even if the salary is low..ridiculous)… I was also informed that I may get a call from investigator from DOL..they may call individuals receiving unemployment benefits($441 a week after taxes?)… to verified that I was searching and applying for jobs( even though I enter my activities related to work weekly on their website…..)….. meanwhile… people with 0 legal documentation are entering the US and living here, free snap, free housing, free health insurance!!!! Lala land!!!! Can’t wait for this non sense to stop!!! Every corner of NY , you see families begging for money. Food…I feel bad as a human being, but refuse to help or I ll be joining them too… welfare system needs to change too! The politics NEED to change!!!All the best !

A lot of these immigrants from Mexico receive assistance from other Mexicans who have citizenship. They empathize for their people and will offer employment to them exclusively even if it means denying jobs to other Americans. Companies here in Texas have been under fire for hiring illegals and paying them under the table
