Immigration should be allocated quotas by nationalities, once the cap is reached, immigration is halted for that country till its even with other nationalities! Just like the US visa lottery quota system...some countries have been ineligible for years now

I know I shouldn't say this but every time I go to Calgary NE Costco, I feel like I was in another country. Many of them would randomly stop in a middle of moving traffic or cut into my path regardless of my existence... I feel I need to constantly dodge in order to avoid collisions. I am an immigrant too but I always observe my surroundings and try not to cause others to slow down because of me. If I need to take a break or stop, I park my cart in a non-busy spot... these should be common sense which is what the people are severely lacking in my opinion.

Who’ve had to come down to the US for employment opportunities as Canada has time not being able to provide the opportunity and sustenance for their population.\n\nI would have to say that perhaps maybe prior to the 2010’s Canada was doing very well and providing quality life for their population and their citizens and the residence\n\nWhat you find out personally is that is being mismanaged when it comes to immigration capital investment in industries And worst of all, not being able to ride housing in a place where exposure to the elements could be certain death for some people\n\nThere user based national health system seems to be freeing and not being able to provide the services that they once provided, which is also something that’s really troubling\n\nAnd now I hear that they have problems providing food at an affordable amount\n\nI wish you well and fighting a place that gives you better comfort and opportunities to grow and affordable lifestyle\n\nI can’t say in the United States you’re gonna find better you’ll find certain cost of living items a lot more affordable, but we do not have a safety net when it comes to healthcare

The process is not the same as it was in the 80s when they did not require renewal every couple yrs w high $ and rules to return to home country for a set amount of time risking losing your home/job/business etc. Some renewal process for green cards have sped up but still takes 6-1yr and a new green card renewal and new one for Mexico can take 1-3yrs for approval. So someone that’s been here +20yrs will have to leave everything they have built here to go wait quite a long time. Its not if you agree how they got here, its what they have done in our country since being here. They add to our economy, +80% pay taxes to never get any of those benefits and they open businesses employing people etc. If they have been here committing a list of crimes then no i don’t agree but majority of immigrants don’t do that. I agree our border needs protection and security. Majority of the left do agree w that but gop don’t want solutions they want to just shut it down completely and thats not right. We have always been a country of opportunity and growth for everybody. If we had a good border bill that they could all agree on fe border act was bipartisan til Trump didnt want to “give dems a win” which it would have given more $ for more judges to help speed up the process for asylum cases and put more agents on the border and more security at checkpoints which is where most fentanyl is caught. Border security she think we dont have i guess. But there are alot of things that could be helped and sped up if we just had politicians that could agree, you have bipartisans that support then you have the handful like trump is the puppet master that shuts good things down for partisanship reasons. I try to visualize this mass deportation. Where is he going to send them? How? At what cost? Sounds like a good way to scatter a bunch of working people into hiding. Violence would ensue. As a Mexican American woman and Veteran, I am appalled at people like her. The fact that she would turn her back on her own family is sickening for a man who could care less about her. Even though she received her status legally, does she not realize Trumps hateful rhetoric is towards ALL immigrants? Whether she is legal or not.

As an Indian origin person, I can say those students who have come in the last decade have arrived on dubious grounds. They just ask for education consultants to send them to Canada to anywhere possible, thus they go to substandard colleges and do low demand courses, like global business, culinary skills, pastry making, short bookeeping courses. These lead to nothing in the job market. Plus, they hardly study are working at labour or low end jobs. Then resort to “copying” and boasting about it. These students are well aware of all of this and further exacerbate the immigration issue here.

As an Indian who has worked in Europe I want to highlight a few things. \nDesis are loud and annoying. \nThey will talk loudly on the phone sometimes its annoying.\nThey will try to force their culture onto others. \n\nCons of the west.\n\n1. Lazy people who don't want to work and support the economy. \n2. The west is built by hard working immigrants only countries like Japan and Singapore were built by the locals.\nWhite folks are lazy and they need to get a job.

I've lived here 6 years and can't wait to leave. Salaries are just enough to get by. I work full-time as an analyst and am looking for a minijob just to save money, which I already live quite modestly. It's easy to come across nasty unfriendly people, neighbors, service people, people in government agencies. I hate people staring in the most unfriendly manner or givng attitude for no reason other than they are nasty people. Don't get me wrong, there are nice people as well, but the bad experiences outweigh the good. Beauracracy is overbearing, personalities are underwhelming, the food scene is underwhelming, learning German is a big burden when you work a full-time job (and now I need a minijob too??). The country seems like it wants to diminish the human spirit and ambition. I definitely regret moving here. Many housing companies are over charging rent. I found out the company, Deutschewohnen, who owns my apartment was overcharging me by nearly double!! I had to go through a year long court procession to get them to lower it to the legal price which I won. And now they sent me a letter last month saying they are raising my rent, which is illegal and I have to go through ANOTHER court battle with them. Of course it is exhausting to try and find another apartment. Some people search up to a year. What a joke. And not to mention the dating scene. I've been single the entire 6 years and I'm quite an outgoing, friendly, loveable person. Dating Germans comes with own weird experiences and I refuse to give them a chance anymore, for my own mental health. If you're POC, it's not uncommon to come across strange sexualizations and general lack of understanding other's cultures. A couple years ago I was attacked by 8 men while walking home at night. I ended up in the hosopital and there was an investigation opened. The police asked me why they attacted me, which I didn't know since it was unprovoked. They just followed me for awhile, surrounded me and started beating me. The police said it was probably because I'm Asian. Meanwhile, I'm not even Asian!!! I'm Latino. ??‍♂This is the type of ignorance POC have to deal with in Germany. Also, I only have 1 German friend and all my other friends are immigrants (which I love) but this poses it's own frustrations because many people move here, then move away after a few years when they learn they can have a more fulfilling life elsewhere. So keeping long term day-to-day friends can be a challenge. The entire system is exhausting and there's not enough balance to bring joy to my life to want to stay. When I lived in NYC, an African American aquaintance had just moved there after living in Berlin for 8 years. She warned me not to move here because I will never feel I belong. I didn't listen. That was a big mistake. Germans can have Germany. I'll find my joy elsewhere. End of rant. haha

Moved to Canada in 2013. I lived in Vancouver and Toronto already. \n\nGraduated from Uni, started working and it all went to shit in 2019. Rent costs like im living in a fcking castle when its a 1 bedroom. Eating out costs like im in a michelin star restaurant when its just a low quality food with extremely limited options. I'm an immigrant as well, but not from India. I experienced culture shock when I arrived in Canada, but I managed to adjust to the “Canadian ways.” While I haven't fully adapted since I wasn't born and raised here, I've been living here for years. It's important to respect and be polite to Canadians. It feels like they are welcoming us into their home, so we should be respectful, mindful, and considerate. Most Canadians I've met are very nice and polite.

I am a Canadian Indian who came here in 1974, I was 8 years old when I came to Canada, back in my generation we respected the Canadian value system and culture and appreciation for the Country, we didn't come here with the mentality to dominate a country that accepted and open their doors to immigrants, I feel this young generations of today lack respect, manners, they have a strong sense of entitlement and a superiority complex that doesn't blend in with the Canadian culture please go back to India as it's not fair that we paid our taxes here for so many years and you come to take our jobs and dominate us and think you're so much smarter than Canadians if this is the case why are you flocking to our Country, please stay in your own Country and be better over there, this is not Indian so don't change the Canadian value system to be like India, I'm so disappointed with your unwanted behaviors and how you ruined our Country!

A Ukrainian immigrant here. Absolutely in love with beautiful canadian nature, cute little houses, especially townhouses in toronto, just so wholesome. As for life, you gotta be some sort of specialist like a doctor, or a proper construction worker, or a truck driver to have a decent life that goes beyond just getting by and eking out an existence. On my own i can make enough money for food and rent, but thats about it, and im happy about it, really, i get to be alive thanks to canada, but i really hope i could move out of here as soon as it becomes safe, or just move to a cheaper country thats a decent distance away from russia. I ended up being unemployed and i do feel like im in quite a real danger on eventually becoming homeless if i dont manage to procure a job, and you know how the job market is now. As for health care, i simply dont have access to it, at least i dont have a family doctor and have been trying for a while to get one. I haven't tried walking ins yet since i prioritize food over health now but i might someday. I just hope that whatever sickness bugs me is minor, i cant do anything about it. My teeth hurt too, but i cant afford a dentist, and ive found one Clinique in toronto that helps immigrants fix their teeth for cheap, they can help you with three teeth in total, and i've used up one of it, and saving the rest for real emergencies. I cant eat anything except for real soft food, and i know im not gonna get any help i could afford any time soon.\nOnce i get a job i will be saving as much money as i can to leave Canada, i don't know where yet but i'm doing my research and hopefully will find a place, and if not well, sucks to suck. It's hard for everybody out there, i'm just one of the millions if not billions who go through that.\n\nAlso I don’t think ‘nobody wants to live in Canada’ is entirely accurate. It seems that the idea of canada, and the way its marketed, attracts a lot of new immigrants, and a lot of people would love a chance to live in Canada. It's simply not true. But after the fact , once they have , i could believe that some are not willing to stay and might regret the decision of moving in the first place.

For licensed doctors I would think that the 4 years would be a snap if you already know the material but beside that , if they went back because they could work in their field in there home country then why did they come here in the first place. Obviously it wasn't violence or fear for their lives.\n If they come here and enjoy the first years but then the reality kicks in when the benefits stop that they may have to work for minimum wage and they now know that a person making minimum wage in Canada is makes you homeless, can't afford a car or the gas, insurance and can only buy food , that they realize that they were better off where they were. Her father sent her to the Anderson Clinic in Houston - yes it was expensive but they treated her, saved her life and that was 24 years ago. \nIt’s common in our emergency rooms to wait up to 12 hours to be seen. \nOur system isn’t progressive and doctors and nurses don’t get paid near as well as in the States. That being said, I am happy that I don’t have to pay to see the doctor or have a stay in the hospital. \nCost of Living: Once upon a time it was good - housing was cheap and many companies had the full range of benefits and salaries were equal to the cost of living. Now these same companies have stripped the benefits by hiring people under contract so they don’t have to give them benefits. \nRents are through the roof and in Calgary there are no rent caps. Buying a decent house in a decent neighbourhood is impossible unless you inherit or make a six figure income. This, in no small part, has created a homelessness crisis that never had been seen in such numbers before. Crime also is getting worse by the day. Canada was once known as a safe country. interesting I live in the US, and we have the same problems here homelessness, drug overdoses, and high taxes, some states have higher taxes than others, home prices are skyrocketing, and no new homes are being built. no new low-income housing.
