Quebec (montreal): Medical care, any public services rude, irresponsive and bureaucracy sucks n complicated (example: people wait for uncertainty just to renew their driving license), THE CRUELEST THING IN QUEBEC INCLUDING MONTREAL IS MEDICAL SERVICES (my god reminds me of third world countries i have ever been in), they will just ignore you heartlessly even if you have RAMQ (quebec heath care coverage), u have to have family doctor n u have to sign up to get one IN UNCERTAIN TIME, some they get family doctor within 3 years, others 5,7 years so on so forth so uncertain, so if u dont have family doctor u wont get treated, and if u have family doctor u will hve to stick to where your family doctor works at only, and to get appointment at some clinic they will put you on wait for some days or even weeks if u get the availability slots for u, if u got emergency u will wait 8,10,12 or 14 hours in pain. I feel bad for montreal citizen i swear, they r so patient with all of this while the tax is one of highest in canada. \n\nNow for rental (apartment in general), the check is crazy long it takes around 2 weeks just to rent, if u r lucky u will get taken if u r not then the landlord will take others, the 1 year lease means 1 year, so far to my experience in alberta like for example, 1 year lease but minimum period u have to stay usually around 3-6 months n after that u can leave with notice to the landlord to vacate the unit. \n\nBut in montreal, u have to find other person to transfer the lease, n if u found the person like i told u earlier, the landlord will check the person n the approval/ disapproval is by the landlord. I had to stay for one year living like hell cause the neighbors freaking so loud n partying every week end night till dawn. Couldn’t even have good sleep for work, so I called 911 two times, the police couldn’t do anything, yet the landlord n the building management kept on saying that they gave warning etc to that tenant, but they didn’t take any further action toward that, n i know they dont care, they care only for money. When i started to file complaint to the TAL(quebec rental board, they r irresponsive, complicated procedures, n in the end they dont solve any problem, on their site said that renter or landlord has to retain lawyer, the hell they r there for then? \n\nThe apartment building is tiny, tight old, the wall is thin, u can hear everything from your neighbour upstair, downstair n on your side too.. \n\nMONTREAL IS ALSO SO DENSED AND TIGHT, the main road so tight with cars parked on both sides of the road to ways only one lane on each way, cos mostly apartment building they dont provide parking spot, so they have to park on the road side, i feel bad for the bus driver i swear, with snow mounting on both side of the road makes driving bus is just so stressful, almost every neighbourhood looks dirty, trashes, people littering every where. I kinda lived in a fantasy world of my own for some time(No drugs or anything). I have currently formed a great passion for making music. Although I still don't play multiple instruments or know my way around mixing software. I have a decent vocal and I can make melodies.With my music knowledge I believe that I can make good songs if someone could make music part for me. \n\nI want to immigrate to 1st world country because I feel like my talents are wasted here. I was also a great soccer player but couldn't do anything with that because there's no proper platform. \n \nSo I want to do Master's degree in a English speaking country like USA/Canada/Australia. F CANADA, im in BC canada on disability for life due to immune system problems. past 10 years ive tride getting healthy and started feeling good, i found a good job last summer, making 29$ hr full time! i was very excited and ready to move on in life from the system, 3 months into it, i start doing the math... im losing 22% off each check for taxes twice per month + union dues, + they charging me for cleaning service for my uniform 5$ per check THEN i pay 12% tax on all good i buy.. SO im losing almost 40% of my monthly income after fees and taxes... NOW im working so i need a car to be at work on taime daily.... this is another 15-20% monthly expense.. YEAHHH RIGHT i am not working myself to the bone to work just to be as POOR as i was on Disability. i quit the job as soon as i paid off the car, sold the car now im my own boss again , i have no need for a clock, i sleep until i want, eat when i want, and go where i want 7 days a week. You have to be a total FOOL to work in this country with these amount of fees and taxes, and please dont say taxes are high becuase of the 2% on welfare, take a look at the BILLIONS of dollars your foolish leader Trudeau is giving to Ukriane.

An important factor as always been for me the different of murders, mugging, rapes, theft, people killed by firearms each year up to 38 000 a year in the US, add other types of weapons, and many more. In Canada we have clean water, lakes everywhere, we have so much more good timber for building, land for farming etc. The cost of health care in the US and schools can easily ruin them, their parents and families. Canada health care is mostly free for everyone, although seemed slow by many, but is it slow or are they worried to see a doctor to realize nothing is wrong with them ?? Going to see a doctor for a cold, a bad night sleep etc are not really worth a doctors time or theirs. The education system in Canada educate their citizens, watching Youtube videos about Americans being asked common questions like : Which 2 countries border the USA?? Sadly most are morons and think it is Europe and France LOL Parents and children's have a way better time when they give birth and spending time with their families ;-) You might get better pay in the US, but then you have to worry about getting shot, robbed or killed, get your car or stolen, house broken into etc. Plus add all the scammers and scams in the USA, that citizens, non citizens and politicians and city officials and even cops do, no thank you.

The biggest problem Canada has, is the people have intentionally been dumbed down to the point they are easily convinced to vote for a politically correct moron like Justin Trudeau who has never had a single full-time job in his life and who thought it would be great for his first full-time job to be the leader of a G7 country. I moved to Canada in 2012. I used to love Canada as even with $11 per hour job was more than enough to survive (during studies, part time job). I used to live happy life. But, since Liberal government was elected in 2015, things are going crap. Just between 2016 when I signed lease of 1+1 apartment for 1140$, in 2019 it was getting rented for $2400. Prices went up for house and lots of things. Liberals had messed up affordability that most people in Toronto region are living paycheque to paycheque. On top of it Carbon tax in hide of saving environment which literally not working out, is killing Canadians. \n\nAfter living in Canada for 11 years, I don’t see this country has any good future overall. Our banking to technology sector everything is outdated. World is moving so fast, Canada is not able to catch up. I am looking for easy was to get green card of USA, the country which I hated, it seems USA is far better. I have many relatives in USA, I asked around and it broke lots of my stereotypes about USA which I had developed living in Canada and from Canadians. Even met few people who lived in Canada for 10-15 years and moved to USA and living there for last 5-10 years. Worst decision of my life was choosing Canada in 2012 for easy immigration. My classmates who chose USA and moved there in 2012 are in much better position career wise as well salary wise and they files are also in progress. Living lavish life with great weather, while Canada is depressive as hell.

I'm born and raised in Canada and I've been trying to leave permanently for years now. I just don't have good support from my husband who works abroad and barely spends time in Canada anyways. Long ago, things might be different I think. My sister was given a job as secretary in oil company Exxon in Canada about 40 years ago. She came back to Malaysia after 5 years, and she can go back, but she did not, maybe because of the cold weather. She never complained of anything in Canada, so I think it was good at those times.

People in the comments who are claiming they came a long time ago and feel so good about Canada are the reason the costs of living is continually raising. They didn't understand Canadians were already making them pay more but to them it was normal now, even themselves they raise the rents of the real estate they had time to buy for low prices and feel they accomplished the dream but at the detriments of the new immigrants.

I’ve watched the video and I’ve read many comments. My message it’s to immigrants, Canadians & everyone. Just be some patient to read for you to think reasonable after this. I’m sure you’ll start to be reasonable regarding Canada. I had a good life good job & a nice home in Ukraine. Due to the barbarian russian invasion my family & I fled the horrific situation in Kharkiv city. I was driving a mini bus of 4 families! Most are children. We’ve arrived to Europe. Crossing many countries (Poland, Czechia & Austria) we’ve arrived to the country leading the EU. In Poland & Czechia, we’re treat very good by the people. In Austria we got hardly a payed hotel where children could get a rest!!! We still didn’t understand why they don’t want to give us rooms despite we’re paying for our staying!!! In Germany, I believe that the government did its best. But the number of comers is huge! Of course many they got disappointed as happened with me! But I still understand and believe that really the government & people did theirs best. So fast I got a job! The social connection helped to introduce me to the company! But i was not hired, I still to express myself & my qualifications. The manager was understanding, so he accepted to communicate in English and to offer me the job in case if I am successful doing the job during the first week at the site. I had to change the machines menu into English. So the manager was very satisfied with my job and I got that job. The rent! You’ll get it only if you receive the blessing of each member of the county and a very strong social connections! The doctors! To make just a blood work for my son it took 45 days of waiting! To get the doctor appointment, you need that a German guy call and get you the appointment! Because when my wife called, the secretary said: we don’t speak English! But when my wife went for her visit she figured out they’re speaking English better than her!!! My son has an issue of hyperactivity, so they refused to accept him at school more than 3 hours a day! And he was excluded from the birthday parties of his colleagues aswell other events! Other Ukrainian children, they were just attending classes! Just a show! No body cares how help their integration! About, the taxes! The half of my income was going to the government! The money back?! Only 200 euros/ month for my kid. And nothing else. Nothing! To get a neurologist appointment for my son it was necessary to wait 3 months! Prices?! Everything expensive! Technology?! Not better than Canada at all. Bureaucracy, Canada is much less. Banking system, Canada much better. Where in Germany?! The best province in Germany “Munich”. Where people stoped long ago dreaming to purchase a home. Guys, Canada doesn’t through broken people as we were in camps! Where nothing is human there! Canada doesn’t enter you in cercle of hell bureaucracy just to get your kid into school! And if he needs a support he get it right away without any background that he’s not our!!! I got a good job in Canada; so fast. Without any social connections because simply I do not have any. I rent an apartment for my family, without to proof to the landlord that I’m the best guy in the world with a witnessed county about that!!! I want you to be sure, that I am not the lonely case. Well everyone, the option is to go into a system like the United States has , which incidentally is far from perfect itself, my spouse was in emergency for five hours last Saturday night before anyone looked at her, , which the system will spiral in to a business and if you think you have problems now, just wait till what’s down in the future. As a Canadian who has lived in the United States the last seven years, our good family healthcare is $1270 US a month, which incidentally has a $1000 deductible and a 10% co-pay on everything we experience, and trust me an MRI scan ( yes , just a scan, not surgery) for your brain is costed out at $7000, so be prepared to pay your deductible and 10% of it along with all the other attending doctor charges, even with good healthcare at 1270U.S. a month ! That monthly healthcare premium is almost $1600 a month Canadian. Canadians complain about taxes being too high also, but that is my profession, and when you round out the two , there may be 2 to 3% adjusted for the exchange rate higher and you still get a lot greater bang for the buck. Also, your higher education in the United States is easily 2 to 3 times of what you’re paying for in Canada. I know it’s not optimal, however trust me you still have it good in Canada, I find so many immigrants complain about it when they come to Canada, Yet they are living in a relatively safe and secure country, just a little bit of appreciation would be nice. Is it always what I can get, how about maybe what you can give? Maybe the answer for everyone and candidates to start to pay to go see a doctor if you can have the doctors availability, that is the sad truth, and I’m quite sure people will not like that by any means when they see the charges. Trust me ,Canada is obviously far from perfect, but is overall still a pretty darn good country, for somebody that dislikes it so much, they need to go back to where they’re from, and compare, it might be a better option for them.

While there was good intentions, that problem with doctors was easily foreseen and pointed out by right-wing people in America and Canada for a very long time as a result of socialized medicine.

I agree, I was born and raised here, unless you speak the language, have a good education, its puts you behind the 8 ball if you want to stay here. Why? Because the cost of living is too high, Why? Because our gov. let foreign powers come into out country and flip our real estate to make fast profits and that drives up the rents and costs of housing to the point that you cannot afford to live here, period. The only way that you can do it is to team up with other families and all live in the same place and slowly build up your education, job skills and income to a point where you can afford to live and get a place of your own, thats the way they did it in my parents time and it seemed to work, but when you have a gov. that all they can think about is their climate control BS and to raise the carbon taxes, interest rates causing inflation, causing prices to go up on everything it becomes a losing battle. So unless you are prepared to work two or three jobs, don't even think about it, because now its next to impossible to do unless you have someone supporting you on your climb to the top. In Canada we need health care workers and that could be nurses, doctors, health care aids, psw's, dsw's and physiotherapists, in some provinces they give free courses to get these jobs and you end up getting good wages like min. 25.00 per hour to start and all the hours you can handle, that means if you work 60 hours a week, you make 1500 a week, now that you can survive on, I know this for a fact because a friend of mine just went through the course and now she is set for life, that was a PSW course, its all up to you, if you want it bad enough, you can have it all. As a dual citizen, there are so many things that's incorrect about this video. First of all, to make it an apples to apples comparison, I see no attempt to adjust the comparison by population. There is no point comparing Montreal (where I have lived) vs. Columbus, Ohio. Montreal is roughly 1.7 million people or 4 million metro. The correct comparison would be something like Boston. Similarly, there is no point comparing Montreal vs. LA in terms of geographical spread when LA is more than three times the size. So of course your commute will be different.\n\nComparing Montreal to Boston for example, Boston is very very compact. Yes, Montreal does have better food options than Columbus or your random rural suburbs. It doesn't come even close to similarly sized American cities. It's the same reason for example that one doesn't compare San Francisco for example, against London, Ontario. It's a pointless comparison.\n\nAdditionally, the claim that the worst part of Canada is better than the best part of America is laugahble. There is no truly terrible neighborhoods in Canada compared to American ones (where you can tell if you're in a bad neighborhood), but Canadians can't even imagine the wealth and prestige of the best parts of America, let alone compare with it. The wealthiest don't live in downtown New York (where they maintain their work residence), they live in Montauk. They don't live in downtown Boston, they live in Newton or Weston. The most affluent parts of Canada like Bridle Path/Rosedale (Toronto), Westmount (Montreal) or North Vancouver would look like abject poverty by comparison.\n\nOh, let's not also forget other factors for being in the US. The median household income in Canada is $67,000 Canadian. The median for the US is $69,000 US. The typical American is far wealthier than the typical Canadian. Anybody who tried to buy any goods (or services) in Canada and compared their choices in the US, it's not remotely comparable. Of course, the usual, taxes.

People with fiduciary duty openly lie, abuse their authority, commonly downplay the significance of their criminal acts, and together they seem to be trying to maintain their status quo biases.\n\nI have emigrated from Canada a year ago to protect my health and life, but am still concerned about the safety of my good friends who live in Ontario/Canada because of the corrupt legal system there. \n\nSpecific examples of what I have experienced: \n\n[Employment Case] \n- Punished by ‘the system’ for pointing out the risk of clients' data manipulation by the upper management of a company; investigations by the Ministry of Labour were biased and incomplete; the legal proceedings by OLRB was interrupted and biased; they have suppressed/buried the evidences that I have provided; they did not share all case files with the applicant(me) but among all other parties until one minute before 5pm on the last day of the statute of limitation; the Vice Chair had interrupted the direct negotiation between the parties and closed the case by canceling the hearing; the Board’s lawyer told, 'sue the Ontario government if you have any issue'; \n\n[Civil Case/Lawyer Malpractice] \n- Ignored by the system when filed a complaint about the fraudulent practices (to LSO) and a fraudulent charge of over 10K without any itemized invoice (to the Superior Court of Justice [SCJ]) made by a contingency lawyer after failing to respond to the opposing party by deadline, failing to negotiate, and abandoning the client(me); the lawyer is apparently a son of board members / public servants of the province and the country, according to a paralegal who I met for the first time at the Fee Assessment Hearing “by chance” and claimed himself as my counsel to the Court clerks and telling them to send all documents to him (I’ve never asked nor retained him); LSO refused to investigate my reporting; the Commissioner had refused to accept a critical evidence, and refused to investigate without reason; the Fee Assessment Officer at SCJ was biased by giving privilege to the lawyer at the hearing, and interrupted the hearing without waiting my response; (the lawyer wrote an online article then about LSO and said “There are too many unacceptable practices that are being tolerated or ignored by the Law Society - from improper marketing to improper contingency retainer agreements. As someone from Belgium that now lives in Columbus OH because of marriage, you're spot on with everything. Safety? Limited. Sprawl? Terrible. Rent? Eh it's not that bad. I make a base salary of $82.5k and my wife makes $50k. Our 2br 1ba apartment's rent is about $1000. It's a nice place, but it has some flaws. Our next place will be around $1500. I've told my wife I don't like the sprawl and lack of public transport here and I want to move to a place where that is less of an issue: Chicago, NYC or Boston. However, the latter two have crazy high rent.\n\nI must add, the terribly unsupported public education system in Columbus is by far the worst reason. My wife is a teacher at a Columbus City School that's almost 100% black. White families put their kids through private schools. The rest of the kids have terrible home lives and are therefore incredibly ill-behaved and under-educated. So much so that the teachers just CANNOT keep up with Ohio's learning standards. By the time these kids graduate (and that's a big IF), they would have learned about 20% of what a regular 18-year old would have learned in most of the world. This is in part due to:\n1. Parents that do not involve themselves in what their children do, and therefore do not discipline appropriately.\n2. Terrible school admins that force teachers to lower their standards to have a high passing rate for the school (otherwise it gets shut down). Also, due to the No Child Left Behind Act, admins also force teachers to teach how to pass state tests (repetitive bullshit) instead of important learning materials and/or critical thinking skills.\n3. A lot of these students are pushed into the gang lifestyle and see no future in their education. They don't even try.\n4. Burned out teachers that grew tired of the negative ROI and start giving out poor and inadequate work packets. However, I don't like blaming teachers, especially because my wife is the hardest working person I know.\n\nIt's hard to see my wife come back every day, exhausted. It pains me both for her and her kids. America doesn't give a fuck about education. The big theory is that they're purposely not giving public schools attention so they can be phased out and private education becomes the norm. And if you can't afford it? I was born and raised on the east coast of Canada, lived in Vancouver and visited Montréal Edmonton, Calgary with the acception of Winnipeg I’ve seen every major city in Canada. \n\nI will always have pride for my country and love for my family there but it has changed dramatically since 2010.\n \nI will say the transportation in Canadian cities are better and so is the crime and the food but you have to drive a minimum of an hour to get anywhere outside the city, your not leaving that city without a car and good luck surviving without a car outside the city, and VIA rail is way overpriced. The GO train is nice though.\n\nLiving in America it has changed a lot since covid too though people are a lot more desperate and you can feel it but people are too prideful to admit, where in Canada people are struggling and they dress and look terrible and fail to dress nice because there is less prideful.\n\nCanadians are not nice people they are passive aggressive and will not got out of their way to help you most of the time (modern day) kind of like Californians.\nThe east coast Americans are rude and trashy but they will help you if you show respect. Full time and part time employees are entitled to 4 weeks vacation here in Australia, I don’t know anyone who only gets 4 tho, most get 5 to 6. Also, theres Medicare for all permanent residents and citizens; 18 weeks maternity leave— 3 months paid. There are 12 public holidays and just Far Less Crime. When people ask me if I miss “home”… I share that I miss good and easy access to stuff… but friends can visit me here, and I’ll pay extra for the things I enjoy to be mailed. The more I traveled safer I felt despite never feeling too unsafe in the states when I lived there, I did when I traveled across country at times. I stayed in Montreal and visited Quebec (I had a bit of culture shock being in Montreal because of how CLEAN the city was. Compared to places like Philadelphia and NY). Without a doubt the quality of food is different in Canada vs. the states. For the first time I ate Nox for breakfast in Montreal (Salmon with cream cheese on a bagel) and was like wow this is good! When I ate it back home, the taste, texture was different. \n\nMontreal Nox tastes like and had the texture of salmon. Where as in the US it's like mushy and a bit jellish.

America has better-looking Women due to their population size but Canadian women have better attitudes and generally are more Educated. Haven't lived in Canada but been to Toronto a few times. I'm from Atlanta, GA and I think the southern hospitality is still true for us. In downtown Toronto, when interacting with people, I didn't get that. Customs acted like they didn't want to let us in the country and were rude (I'm sure the US is like this too), and the Canadians I came into contact weren't very friendly. I didn't bother anyone, minded my business but when having to interact or passing folks in the street, I didn't have a good experience.

I’ve been to Canada (Toronto, Scarborough to be exact) at least 2-3 times when I was married to a Canadian and I can say that I had very good experiences except for dealing with some of the French. Definitely a culture shock in some aspects. The diversity is very strong which is a plus. Only downsides are the gun laws and the unavailability of sweet tea (yeah I’m southern). But overall Canada is very nice.\n\nBut one thing you’re not lying about is the WATER. Different locations in the states have different tasting water. If you want water that smell like eggs then Florida is your spot. If you want fresh water, buy a water well. \n\n\nYour experiences may vary.

As someone who was born and spent decades growing up in Toronto who moved to the US years ago and spend time regularly in multiple states, I disagree vehemently with what Aba said about safety. Aba did not recognize that not only is the US like 50 different countries, with each state being somewhat unique unto themselves, but the cities are like an amalgamation of 2 or 3 different cities. What I mean by that is about the safety and security aspect, it all depends on where you live and where you hang out. Undoubtedly, US ghettos and the sketchy clubbing districts are generally worse than Canadian housing projects and such. If you live in the regular or especially good parts of the city, it's totally safe. \nBecause most US towns and cities are built around neighborhoods, security and safety is always a big selling point. As long as you avoid the ghetto and late night 'action' areas, it's generally safer than Toronto. Toronto suffers from an outbreak of car break ins, car thefts, home break ins and recently car jackings all over. Many US neighborhoods and areas have no such thing. On a side note, as a POC, I also have experienced far less racism in the US than I used to in Toronto. Without getting into a can of worms, if you live in a Democrat controlled city vs. Republican one, you are going to experience more crime, more homeless, higher unemployment, etc. You guys are referencing LA, which has become far worse, like San Francisco and New York. \nAnd the cost of living comment is ridiculous. Again maybe LA and NYC which are shadows of what they once were. Canada has far higher tax burden, way higher inflation, prices of food, energy, clothes and homes are off the charts. In Texas, Florida, Tennessee and Washington, we have ZERO income tax as well as lower tax than the HST. I lived in almost every province across Canada. Spent over a decade in Halifax and some of the smaller communities. The crime there is above normal. I have lost thousands of dollars in tools multiple times from break and enters and never once had a good investigational outcome. The last time was in Truro where I lost over 20k worth of tools and household goods. I told the investigating officer who did it. The drug dealing individual was not even questioned because he was an informant for the RCMP. Ontario, Nova Scotia, and many other provinces has a false crime rate. Maybe Manitoba and Saskatchewan has a really bad crime rate because the police actually do their job. You did not mention about provincial taxes, that would definitely throw Quebec under the bus. Even though I was born in Ontario, Alberta has my number.

I spent 2 years (1991/92) in Calgary and I fully understand the feeling. Canada simply has not enough quality job. For better job satisfaction and higher pay, you need to head south to get it. Canada is for someone who is looking for a peaceful life and have more private time but not a very social life style. The medical system needs some improvement though. Compared with the time (70s last century) I spent in England, I would say England is much better because Europe is so close and you could enjoy the diverse culture and food. Anyway, everybody has his/her own choice and that is good.
