Public Health care in Canada has always been great, if you are a citizen. Lately governmental wars on public health care increasingly denies even access to it simply to save a buck, also to successfully make Canadians afraid of even needing health care. This is a turnabout on one of the basic pillars of the Country.

I think most ppl have to remember it’s a British Colony we still pay the Queen(kinda embarrassing) Usa had seen this problem for more than 200 years ago. I live in Vancouver & it is progressively getting more and more unsafe. But- it's our wild drug problems and local government failing to properly prosecute crime. There are many articles calling out how violent criminals are here. Our judges are consistently letting out violent criminals on bail and they keep reoffending. I feel for the cops who keep arresting criminals, only to arrest them again a month later while knowing they'll be seeing them again soon. We don't have a huge number of evil criminals or gang war in the streets, but a small consistent number of drug addicts detached from reality committing random acts of violence. \n\nAgreed on our tap water is fantastic. I remember the first time I drank tap water in Florida I was shocked at the awful taste. \n\nLastly- Canada does need to get better laws to protect citizens from monopolies. Insurance, cell phones, internet, and electricity are pretty lawless for big corporations to rack in profits. It is progressing, but slowly.

Canada actually isn't that great, the educated people, especially from India/China only come here because the US has a very cumbersome greencard process. Canada is graduating more doctors now than ever before. The problem is that the good ones leave for better salary and opportunities. Alberta's economy would be even better right now if it was actually allowed to properly export its oil. Like why not promote Alberta oil with its eco friendly practices instead of Russia, who use the money for war, or the middle east, which is basically buying from terrorists, not to mention they don’t generally take good care of the environment when harvesting the oil. U got some facts wrong like Quebec being the most historical place in Canada. Newfoundland is actually more historical as st.johns was established in 1497 and Quebec city over 100 years later being established in 1608. Canada has no culture of its own. People from all around the world gathered here to escape wars, political issues, or for economic reasons from their home country. When honeymoon period is over (around 5 years) they start realizing that leaving behind their own people, culture, festivals, food, etc was not a good idea. Life in Canada (maybe in United States too) is very monotonous and robotic. Years and years go by\nand people are doing same thing over and over. Weather is very unpredictable to plan out anything in advanced. Due to bad weather entire country is designed to be indoors. People leave their wooden houses in cars to work in buildings with no open windows. Unless you leave in core downtown you won't see people on road as everybody is either in their vehicles, in their house, or slaving away at work. To all people who are looking to relocate to Canada: If you are doing well in your home country then do not leave. Life in western countries look good from far but when you live here it's different. Loneliness and depression will be your biggest enemy. Stay in your home country around your own culture and people.

Don’t come to Vancouver Canada to study unless your family is rich. I run a rental business here and LOTs of international students either live in basements or struggle hard to come up with rents. I don’t blame them cuz this city is hell EXPENSIVE. Also even if you get a degree from UBC you are gonna get a job as a bank teller that pays like $16/hr if lucky. People suffer from seasonal depression for about 4-5 months/year. Better just stay in your country if it is not in the war zone and has relatively good health care system. If you can succeed in Canada you can do it in your home country. Not trying to discourage anyone but just wanna help people make rational decisions?

This is all bullshit, which these two nice ladies are saying. The core of the matter is - Canada wants taxpayers. Government and society do not give a damn about your background. Of course they accept people with higher education - these people provide way less trouble, as opposed to importing warring Afgan highlanders, who are barely literate but will not hesitate to pull a dagger. An engineer will not do that. But our qualifications, education, experience means nothing - they have enough of their own. I do love Canada , it was my first love moving from poor, war ravaged country in Vietnam. But it is no longer the country that I used to know. I've lived mostly in Vancouver and Toronto and I can tell you,If you got a family and you're not making 10-15k/month, feesl like you're just scraping by. Tdot was good when I moved there in 1984,TTC rides and cup of coffee used to be just a quarter and houses were just about 100k on average. Now its almost impossible to live near the core of the city to buy a house unless ure making high six figure or move out to smaller cities like Brantford or Windsor to buy one. There is no way to say that any country is the best one to live in; every country has strengths and weaknesses- that especially relate to your specific needs and wants. Coming back to the country of my citizenship was also extremely hard for me after working away for so many years. The way to do well anywhere in Canada, is to build up credibility/seniority at one job and stick with it. Whether you are university or self-educated- which is considered just as valuable in today's job market- you are going to face an uphill battle unless you are fairly established. Canada has a high level of unemployment and some sectors, have an overabundance of trained workers. When my Middle East friends tell me they would like to live and work in Canada, I give them the advice I would give anyone. First, think about your family or friends that you want to have around you in your daily life- that is number one. Nothing is more depressing than being alone. Weather is a big factor, but it can be tolerated if you are with your core family or friends. One hundred years ago when my ancestors fled war and revolution, they had no choice but to do their best to make a life in a very difficult climate (literally)- culturally and weather-wise. There are a number of refugees today that are in similar circumstances. They do their best to get past the difficulties for the sake of their children's futures. If you are not literally refugees, think hard about you choice to leave your core culture and people.

Not sure where you got your info On Quebec but, housing in Montreal is unaffordable right now with the average rent for a three and a half apt is going for 1000.00 a month. If you can even find one. There are hundreds of families being put up in hotels by the city because they can't afford the rents or no appt available because of the greedy condo developers are turning everything into useless unaffordable condo's The houses are way out of reach for most young couples because the salaries here haven't been following the cost of living. We are the highest taxed province in all of Canada. They would slap a tax on air if they could. Yes Quebec is by far the most historical and beautiful province, but the language war and the divide that this has caused doesn't make it a friendly place. And let's not even touch the healthcare system. But after watching this , Nova scotia sounds like an amazing place to live. Food for thought.

I'm a Canadian, and can comfortably state that Canada's reputation was cemented in the early seventies, and anyone choosing to come here based on that reputation, does so under false pretences. The majority of the immigrants I have come into contact with quickly become disillusioned with Canada, and eventually feel compelled to leave. The cost of living, combined with a lack of opportunities, and low wages, means that leading a normal life here is largely out of the question. Crime is a huge problem in BC, as Vancouver has become the de facto money laundering centre for North America. As a result, Canada is now extremely attractive for all the wrong reasons. At present, Canada is experiencing internal mass migration patterns driven by economic necessity, as the cost of living is prohibitively expensive in most urban centres. There is also a corresponding mass migration pattern of those who were born here away from the major cities, as Canada now lets in 500K, largely unvetted, immigrants into the country each year, most of whom are from war-ravaged, or third world, countries. With so many disparate languages and cultures from all over the world, it makes life utterly chaotic. The different nationalities never mix, and there is no effort expended to integrate with the Canadians who were born here. The Chinese live in Richmond, the East Indians in Surrey, and they have NOTHING to do with each other. Having traveled abroad, it's shocking how primitive it is in Canada. My advice to anyone thinking of coming here: Would you buy a ticket for a cruise on a ship that has a massive hole under the waterline?
