The story of the Russian guy going back to Russia to avoid taxes didn't age well. I remember watching this video in 2021 and thinking that the higher taxes are worth it because you are essentially buying safety. It doesn't matter if the income tax of your home country is lower if the local currency keeps devaluating, if you can't buy what you want because importing is hard and expensive or if your country is simple just not a safe place to live. Now with the war and the sanctions, your Russian friend must be having a really hard time; borders closed, the ruble is nearly worthless and he's probably trying to flee the country to avoid being drafted, leaving any real estate behind.

I was born and raised in Canada. My family immigrated in the 70s. Growing up I was proud to be Canadian but after living in other parts of the world I can tell you, Canada isn't it! \n\nFirstly our Prime Minister is a puppet he works for the Commonwealth and whatever they say goes, they profit off all of your hard work. \nThey keep you sick so you rely on the health care system. Medicate you instead of solving the problem. Doctors are exhausted, rude and over worked, emergency rooms are a disaster and if you book an appointment to see your doctor...be sure you're waiting at least a week. If you go to a walk in clinic you risk getting a doctor that seems like they paid for a fake degree.\n\nYou know when you go to a mall in one town and then hear about a mall in another town that has really cool different things??? Ya, not here! Everything is monopolized! Same stores everywhere you go. there's a mall in Toronto called Vaughn Mills mall, when I was in Calgary they have an exact replica just a different name. Small businesses are hard to keep because everything is so expensive. There needs to be more indoor things for people to do in the winter. \n\nWhoever said Canadians are polite, has never been to Alberta!!!! I've never experienced racism in my life like I did out west, not just Alberta but also Northwest Territories and Manitoba. \n\nOn top of that they want everyone to be gay and not believe in God, they push the agenda so hard in the schools, they institutionalize and confuse your kids. If you believe anything different they literally hate you. The children are hypersexualized...teenage girls looking like they're 30 year old drag queens. They bully kids so badly in school, especially boys. Parents have no time to get involved because they're busying working multiple jobs to pay for their 4000 dollar mortgage, husband and wife barely see each other. And because they're not involved the children have no respect for their elders or teachers. the teachers don't care to get involved like they used to because everything's a liability...a problem. We had a 13 year old girl call a male teacher a pedophile for pushing a little girl on the swing. He quit on the spot, because now he's worried for his career. Kids have no shame anymore. \n\nIF YOU WANT QUALITY OVER QUANTITY (WHICH YOU MIGHT NEVER GET), DON'T COME HERE! or, Come here and send all your money home but don't educate your kids here unless you have enough money to put them in private schools and there are good private schools. If the only thing you want out of your life is freedom, freedom to just be left alone and no one hounding you...you like being alone. Then, that you can have here. \n\nIf you are from a colonized country we are all slaves to the system!

I did not listen to the entire video but sharing my story.\n\nI came to Toronto Canada it's been 22 years and I will leave here and die here despite its expensive to live but people stay where they belong, where their soul is at peace and where there is their happiness.\n\nI moved here with my abusive husband at that time. Back home as divorce was taboo, I would have remained married n suffer. He moved on and left me and my child of 5 years old on the street but thanks to Canada, no one judged me, no one talked about me. I did not ask or took any help cause I worked 2 jobs for few years to make ends meet. With time things got better, now my child has graduated and working.\nHe worked n paid for his studies.\nI have not been discriminated or faced racism despite I come from African continent and of colour but my son has as he was young but he learnt from it.\nCanada gave me my freedom, my peace, my happiness and I am no longer discrimated by my own religion, culture and people who thinks if you are lighter you are prettier.\nWomen were and are still considered secondary compared to men.\nHere we are equal.\nHere they love and respect me for who I am and not based on looks.\nBack home my c-section was f up and I am still paying the consequences. After an accident, I had to go through a leg surgery. Back home hospital lost my file and made me wait for years.\nHere I was handled with love and care when the hospital staff learnt that I have no family here. They stayed with me and watched on me after my surgery.\nI love Canada and my Canadian friends and all adopted families.\nThis is the best decision in my entire life that's why when I die I will donate all my organs and help others.\nI am allowed to keep dual citizenship but I don't care about back home.\nI am Canadian, I have a good job cause I worked for it, I speak 5 languages including French. 100% I was born here and lived in the US growing up. And its alot to give up for a better healthcare system. The healthcare system is honestly so good by comparison that I'd say this keeps Canadians here. But it is not far or equitable in any way. And with the pandemic it has accelerated this inflation people have felt... but are now fully aware of that impact our lives in meaningful ways every 5 years. We are now like ten years or more in the future on what that impact looks like.\n\nI don't want to work because there is no point. I am working but I don't care like I used to. I don't care about advancement anymore. I don't care about what it might mean for my future in the workforce when there is always a reason to ensure thst my money goes nowhere for me.\n\nThis winter is going to be very hard.

Immigrants, especially Africans usually stay in megalopoles, these big cities like Paris, New York... But local people tend to move out to the countryside, where things are still more affordable. Why? Because that's what these locations are designed for, to attract the workforce from around the world, and keep the machine running, while the real benefits go to the local monarchs and local middle class who leaves those places. So of course, they don't expect you to come to their country, do so well, and take over. People need to be smarter with all this and learn to understand systems and megastructures, rather than small bits and pieces. The whole picture.

I appreciate this video. I am a Canadian woman with a Gambian boyfriend. He thinks that he's going to come here and become rich easily and I keep telling him it's not the paradise you think it is. I keep telling him that cost of living is always going to be more than your income and it's really difficult to get ahead to a point where you can enjoy your income. Well said, both US and Canada are all the same thing, it’s a circle. Start again and go back to school when you relocated to diasporas my dear. Not much difference until you get to a higher level like management in your career then a little change can occur.. Please keep enlighten our people at home so they will know the importance of building our home and prevent traveling abroad except going to school and return back home to use that knowledge learn to building their home country… There’s no place like home, we’re blessed in Africa but lack the knowledge of knowing what we have or to develop that country for generations to come….

I left Canada several years ago...too cold, depression, racism high cost of living etc. Im very happy in the country of my birth great weather natural foods etc. I feel balanced here. I still keep my Canadian citizenship and visits sometimes, going back to live in Canada hmmmm not sure maybe. Its a beautiful country clean and welcoming but for now Jamaica is my home?????

Canada business system prefers the big franchises businesses that have millions of dollars. If you have a small shop or restaurant get beaten by the big corporations that has franchises. the food costs are high and when selling u just cant sell for a better profit that can actually make you money. The Chinese and Indians knows how to sell little many items at a low cost just to be on a very tinny profitable way to keep on going. The Multi big paying makes money in Canada not the small business immigrants come and create. Those business don't built wealth because the big corporations are pushed by the Gov more in creating jobs and paying the big corporate taxes that in turn the taxes help support the social programs for those that cant work and also providing the basic needs to those that needs it through the taxes paid. In many African states many of the individual business that strife and create wealth because there isn't too much huge corporations that competes with this small business like the first world nations. In SA for example we have seen an explosion of many migrants going there creating small business and striving better than they will be in Canada. The taxes are high in Canada that's true u cant be rich sorry u will work until you lose your hair f not your hair turns white in a very short time due to too much stress and worries. Canada is good for social programs it takes care off those that don't' work if you work forget about getting rich but supporting those that don't work through the allocated taxes. Canada and the first world nations supports Big corporation and Franchising not really a fan of small business even when they are here they just don't create huge profits to think they will make it. In fact when the economy falls those shops easily shut down entirely and when they do reopen they barely make profits. I have seen Nigerian, Ghanaian small shops with Ethiopian and Jamaican business.

Where else have you lived and where from originally??? I left Long Island NY where I grew up many years ago. Very expensive, winters suck. Quality of life and jobs been disappearing since the 80's... Moved to South Florida in the mid 90's. Getting stupid expensive here too, very over crowded. Traffic and people's attitudes and driving are really bad. Looking for a new escape. Been thinking about Brazil (visited there a few times years ago) or Philippines, or somewhere in Europe. But never been anywhere besides Brazil... Biggest issue of where to go is language, safety and a way to keep an income, legally or on the DL ? lol...

Block parties, cook outs, neighborhood meetings, bus trips to the beaches, weddings and Saturday clean ups were all apart of our past community's. Yes some still exist. However, anytime Blacks in America have demanded equity, justice, education, health rights, human rights, and fair housing, we are met often with a back lash. Suddenly, rents go up. Houses have doubled or tripled in increase. Crime waves have made it almost impossible for people to come out and relax freely. Political changes have also played a major roll. Neighborhoods have been redlined. Even where one goes to vote has been moved. White racism and fear, entire industry's have moved put of key areas. So thete is a natural break down. Neighborhood meets come to a end and different organizations from schools, to planting trees to parking all get affected due to such changes. Local small businesses that knew each family members also close up and leave. Its not a question of oh you have everything you need in your American house. That is not it! Its more complex. The lack of kids playing out front or the older ladies keeping watch have disappeared also due to no rent control policies.

I can’t agree with you more. I think they don’t trust their neighbours and also too much formality kills openness and friendship. We in India enjoy our neighbours’ company and children play and cycle outside. Also we keep visiting our neighbours’ house and exchange treats and food. \nIndians visiting the west complain about these unfriendly ways quite a lot and dread to go there.

As an Indian living in Australia , I can relate with every single word said here. Australia like most western countries, is good if you wish to make some money but not so good if you want to have an active social life. its cold and desolate most times of the year. Hardly any sun in the south eastern states. People keep to themselves and indoors most of the time. .Social life is almost non existent which can cause serious psychological issues., Depression being very common. Kids here develop serious mental issues right from a young age . If you are a single man its even worse. If you want happy healthy active social life, avoid going to western countries.

You are right. I am Canadian and it's cold, I mean, very cold. We can't wait for the summer which do not last and are very short. With the pandemic situation, everything changed in the last 2 years. Masks, take out, social distancing, no restaurants, cinema things like that, it got worst. I took an early retirement we moved in the country side where our parents were raised and all of our cousins and brother & sister are, people know each other. It's totally different. You go anywhere you are not a number, you are people. The bad parts are there are no much work or job available, you have to wait to get older to live there or if your lucky enough to get a job, you keep it, no choice and all the muskitos for a month in spring, it's so bad that you can't stay outside for too long. We call this ''muskito clouds''.

As an American over 50, I remember being able to play out in the street when I was a kid, but because of the rising crime and evil in this country, everyone fears going out of their house. I always wonder why foreigners want to come to the US. It’s horrible here. A lot of Americans are looking to leave their home country. If you want a house and good money, you will be an underpaid slave to your job, and you will have to keep working harder and harder just to maintain what you have. I live completely alone now. No friends and no family. So, I keep dreaming of escaping this hellhole they call the American dream. They can have it, cause I’m done.
