It's not by real merit, this is a position established and maintained through aggression, and lot's of criminality carried out and built up over centuries of exploitative activities, which is why the deep state and powerful elite classes are so desperate to maintain the empire (and stop history from happening) because if forced to play on a more level playing field it becomes clearer that the sort of capitalism and unchecked neoliberalism the US political establishment is engaged in (and the current outcomes) are completely unsustainable.\nLike if something changed and the US dollar stopped being relied on as the premiere reserve currency of choice then they wouldn't be able to keep printing and spending money on value-losing expenses and they'd realize how badly screwed not just the economy is but the entire culture of thinking would have an existential crisis

We need tariffs right now to slow down our spending and reduce inflation. Not only that, IMO this will be a temporary ouchy for US consumers but in the long run it’s going to benefit us if we stay strong. \nIf you notice, we have some of the best entrepreneurs in the world and many people here looking for the next opportunity. Mexico has been imposing tariffs on Americans, and Mexican’s, for taking their cars over there for a long time. \n\nYou have to pay for a permit, along with a hefty deposit (depending on the vehicle year), to cross your vehicle into Mexico. You can cross into the border towns, but if you want to drive further in, you have to pay. \n\nThis is done to eliminate competition, instead of letting the market dictate the pricing. And if you don’t return your permit, you don’t get your deposit back and lose the ability to cross any vehicles for life. No, how is that fair?!\n\nAnd you STILL see Mexican nationals buying vehicles here, and just paying the hefty tariffs, just to legalize their American vehicles in Mexico. \n\nWe can just start there, and do the same thing to them. I agree with all you said. I left Canada in 2018 after struggling there for 20 years. I am fortunate to also have American citizenship. Unsure why I held out in Canada as long as I did. So much easier to live in the USA. One thing you missed were the lockdowns. It caused massive disruption to people’s lives and many friendships and families were destroyed. My mother left in 2022 for exactly those reasons. Many others that she’s met now in her current country of residence left for the same reasons. Trudeau. What can I say…??

They are NOT the same. I live in Germany for about 6 years, moving from Bosnia and didnt have any of those problems mentioned, excluding the bureaucratic hurdels. Granted, i do speak German natively since ive spent my early childhood years here. To be fair i do think that learning the language of the nation you are moving to as fluently as possible should be a no brainer.\nWhat people arround the world need to understand is that European countries are NOT the USA. These are nations that exist for thousands of years with clear cultural parameters born out of centuries of strugle, war and hardship. These are strongly embeded into the minds of the people living here. The jist of it is that Europeans have known this for a long time, literally knowing ´´what the others are like´´. So its much easier to adapt. Of course it helps that most European countries have simmilar religious and social values.

In my opinion The longer stay of immigrants like 20 years they get pensions which they don't have in Canada and move back to their own countries I would assume those who are not on wait list to recieve canadian citizenship fro perminant residence status have no intention of staying in Canada in the long run ir they would be also applying for citizenship not just perminant residency status in my opinion.

Building a border wall across the Mexican border would be too expensive. It would be far easier to strengthen the border along the Panamanian border. Closing off access to the Darian Gap would be far cheaper because the Panama/ Columbia border is only about two hundred miles long.
