I certainly hope, that if the US remove the said tariffs, that we will keep our export tariffs on the selected products for 4 years. Let the next ad ministration get the win of us removing the tariffs. Yes we will go through a rough time, but we will get through it. Enough with the threats from Trump.

I know that Canadian have complained about Justin Trudeau over the years, but his recent leadership in regard to Ukraine & Europe has been stellar and undoubtedly his response to Trump is something TO BE ABSOLUTELY PROUD OF! This is not the time to rock the boat globally, as Trump is doing

As a Canadian - Trumps 'brilliance' has done one thing for sure, it's aligned all of the provinces against our neighbor and former ally the United States. It's done something we ourselves have had difficulty with - gaining support from Quebec. The overwhelming vast majority of Canadians don't trust the US anymore, as the legal justification for the tariffs is absolute bull, and is a pretext for Trumps actions. My family has cancelled all US travel, in my case 2 trips this year worth 15K to the US. I will miss Vegas for my 60th. We used to shop in WA State weekly; last year I spent 11K in WA State, and routinely took in shows in Seattle. No more. \n\nCan anyone please explain why Trump is screwing over Americans? Seriously.

As a Canadian I am embarrassed, ashamed and fearful! Everything that this idiot spews forth is just pure drama. All President Trump wanted was for Canada to take care of the drug problem that has killed so many. As an American and a Trump supporter, I agree with these tariffs, but only equal to the tariffs other countries charge the United States on our imports. I do not agree with imposing this on our brothers and sisters to the north. I’m speaking of the good people of Canada. I have traveled to Canada and crossing the border was just like crossing into another state. Yes, there was a border gate which there should be, but I had absolutely no problem whatsoever. I hope our government can work this out very quickly and stop this foolishness. But to countries like China and Europe the United States should charge a reciprocal tariff as to what you charge us on our import. It’s only fair. Why are we paying an exuberant tariff for our goods entering your country and you expect to pay nothing with your goods entering ours. Most Americans, love Canada and love our Canadian brothers and sisters, we’ve always supported each other in world, wars, and other attacks against our respective countries. I'm usually reasonable enough to realize that while I may disagree with many policy decisions, there's usually a relatively coherent line of thought to back said actions up. The problem here is that there’s no clear logic behind using tariffs as a tool to curb fentanyl trafficking or immigration. I'm not going to speak on the issue of immigration at the Canadian border because there simply is none. Yes, there are illegals from Canada, but almost 100% of them are from overstaying visas rather than crossing the border unlawfully. So let's talk about fentanyl. \n\nMost fentanyl in the US originates from China, often in precursor form, and is then processed in Mexico before being smuggled into the states. But it's typically trafficked in small, high potency quantities, often hidden in legitimate shipments or through mail, and only on very rare occasions is it being brought in by individuals crossing the border. It has _never_ been documented to have shipped in as part of large scale commercial imports, so a 25% tariff on legal trade with Canada and Mexico doesn’t directly target the black market supply chain at all.\n\nIf we take Trump’s reasoning at face value, the argument seems to be that he wants to exert economic pressure on Mexico and Canada as a means of having them crack down harder on drug trafficking networks. But the issue is that fentanyl simply isn’t coming in through mass import channels, so all this looks like is a punitive measure without a clear mechanism to actually achieve its stated goal. And the implications? Drastically higher costs for consumers in the US, Canada, and Mexico, with absolutely nothing to show for it.

The absurdity of Trumps balanced trade argument is that the USA is a wealthy country and he is projecting that wealth upon his trading partners when in reality the trading partners are not as affluent as Americans. They simply cannot afford to buy as many goods as the USA. To equalize trade requires more affluence in these trade partner countries, instead of crippling them with additional costs. Additionally Trump does not concede the difference between buying raw materials vs finished goods. When USA buys endless oil from Canada, and Canada does not buy enough cars from USA, you will have absolutely an unavoidable trade imbalance. Average GDP per Canadian is half the GPD of USA per person.

The american economy doesn't rely on trade like Canada (67%), Mexico (73%) and China (37%). American trade accounts for only 24% of its massive GDP. if you removed all trade from america, it would still have larger economical output than china, mexico and canada COMBINED. yes. Combined. \n\nFurthermore, Canadian trade with america account for almost 80% of all trade in canada. A 25% increase would be absolutely devastating to canada. I've written similar comments elsewhere that were automatically deleted by the person who posted the video, and I found that disheartening. I first want to address the rumour about human feces and dirty diapers being found on Canadian beaches, and I want to stand up for the people who called out Indians for doing this. Somebody saw something. Maybe they weren't able to produce any legal proof of it, but they clearly saw something, and there is nothing racist about them calling out this behaviour. This practice is not only unhygienic. It is ILLEGAL in Canada; so, it absolutely should be called out publicly to prevent it from ever happening again. I have seen many videos about the culture of mass open defection in India. The videos I saw were posted by Indians themselves. One of those videos was a TEDx talk done by a woman named Sangita Vyas who discussed the truth about open defecation and that it is not limited to only the poor population. Even people who can afford to build latrines are not using them, and she explains why after interviewing Indians to ask why. I've watched Indian doctors talk online about how many Indian children die from something as simple as diarrhea every year as a direct result of the water contamination caused by open defecation. So, clearly, open defecation is legal in India, and perhaps some of these people think if it's legal at home then it must also be legal elsewhere. WRONG. It's illegal in Canada. It's unhygienic. It should never happen. Period. And there is NOTHING racist about a Canadian saying this out loud and reminding people that they must follow the rules and laws of the country they are in.

One time, I went on 1 day business trip to Canada ( i have American Citizenship, but born in Europe).
