Average Americans are expected to believe that a bunch of billionaires and companies that have been robbing them blind for 40 years will now have their backs because they are actually in government instead of just pulling the strings from the sides. I also hate how every leader in the world has to pay some kind of false reverence to Trump even though they all know he’s nuts out of some kind of decorum. It’s about time you realise what you’re dealing with and pull the gloves off. Playing nice and nice and reasonable is only playing into his hands.

This is not anti-American, it is just fighting back from an unnecessary trade war. It does however break my heart because many Canadians have family on the U.S. side. I know it would also break my father’s heart as he grew up in New England and had a lifetime affection for the U.S. I despise politics and have not been a proud Canadian for a few years but I have to admit that this speech is getting me going again. Canada needs to get its act together and rebuild its military, not to fend off the U.S. but to hold its own should other countries decide we are ripe for the picking. I want U.S.-Canada relations to be tight again. We’re neighbor. We will have our disagreements and that’s fine but these trade wars will hurt everyone and, if it lasts, may leave lasting grievances.

As a Canadian citizen I have always admired the US up until now, I sincerely wanted to move to the US to build homes and start up a company. But now am re-evaluating my decision because if this how the US treats their friends and allies, I really feel sad for their enemies. Both countries benefited from having a good relationship and now the great US has no one willing to challenge Mr Trump on this idiotic move, America is alienating themselves from a lot of countries and regular Americans are the ones who are going to suffer from this fall-out, the rich won't be affected but regular working class folks your stress is going to get a whole lot worse and that's unfortunate. They have money to send annually overseas but none to improve the life of their citizens in need, that should tell you something. I certainly hope it doesn’t seem as though all Americans agree with what Trump is doing because many of us certainly do not. He doesn’t understand what the word diplomacy means unfortunately.
