Trudeau thinks Canada can survive a trade war? ???. Canada doesn't have anything that the US can't get for itself. Unless they want to start selling snow to the southern states. We help them by buying their crap. We dont need it like Canada needs us. We subsidize their economy in more ways than one. And Trudeau is willing to learn that the hard way it looks like.\n\nOh well, Gues Canada Wont have much of a choice but to become the 51st state
2025-03-04 0
It should be reciprocal trade.\nYou tariff us 20% We tariff you\n20%. See, it’s easy to understand. Trudeau wants it lopsided to them.
2025-03-04 0
I think if the USA doesn't honour the trade agreement than neither does Canada. I say no more intellectual protection for US tech. That will truly hit them where it hurts.

Funny not a single word about the 250 BILLION TRADE DEFICIT WITH THE US ?
2025-03-04 0
All of these other countries should have no problem looking for and finding other trade partners. The US on the other hand will have a more difficult time and may not be successful given recent history. Trump has set the bridges on fire and is laughing (or golfing) as they burn.
2025-03-04 0
How is he defending Canadian jobs? The whole point of tarrifs is to make it unprofitable for American companies to use Canada for things like manufacturing, energy and other natural resources.\n\nThe liberal government is who made us weak where we depended on the trade deficit in our favour. If we looked at tapping our resources and finding other markets, we wouldn't be so far gone.\n\nTrudeau's answer? EI? More taxpayer debt?\n\nHe's trying to use this situation to garner support from the public. We're screwed.

Turdeau is nothing more than a communist POS and needs to be removed and charged with TREASON and many more crimes. As for Tariffs, why doesn't this low life bring to light the 270% Tariffs on Milk to the US, 298% on butter, 245% on cheese, 238% on chicken,57% on barley seed, 45% on Aluminum, 48% on copper, 45% on cars, and the list goes on, all Trump wanted was the border cleaned up of criminals and drugs and this POS is turning it into a trade war. He has no money for additional border security, but he can send billions to Zelensky, another criminal pile of garbage. When the hell are Canadians going to wake up to the criminals in power ???????????????

All these years US has a trade deficit of 1 trillion dollars every year. With tariffs we could have recovered 250 billion every year. That is a lot of money. Currently every American owes $110,000 because of the accumulated debt of 36.5 trillion.\n\nJustin, how long are we supposed to bend back wards while US has a trade deficit of trillion dollar over the past 20 years. Why cant to you balance the imports and exports so that you don't have to keep taking advantage of USA. CNN did not see the trade deficit every single year for 20 years? what are they talking about? Our news channels have just become political entities rather than looking for the greater good of the Americans. One is for Republicans and others for Democrats - ridiculous. \n\nCanada and Mexico are saying, please stop tariffs, it is going to hurt America. LOL. No it is not. If tariffs were there in 2024, US would have gotten back 15 billion dollar revenue from Canada and Mexico would have paid 46 billion to USA. All this time, this was affecting only Americans and while you are enjoying not paying for your share, you have made US pay by taking loans to pay for the imports increasing our Debt. Yes it has been hurting America for the past 20 years, otherwise how did we accumulate 36.5 trillion debt.\n\nLike Justin said, if Canada can survive while paying 15 billion to USA, of course USA will do fine while collecting the 15 billion from Canada and 46 billion form Mexico. What do you all think that the public is blind?\n\nTo the American Public: Why would we impose tariffs, if that is going to hurt the US. And why are Canada and Mexico shaking in their boots? It would be naive, if you think it is out of their good heart. It had been hurting US for the past 20 years and they did not care. This time it is going to hurt them so all this fuss. The bottom line is that they don't want to pay all the excess that they have been dumping on us while they were benefiting. USA will use the revenue generated (total around 250 billion for 2025 form tariffs) to reduce our tax, make things more affordable, inject in to our own businesses and generate more employment.

My heart hurts watching this. As an American, I respect and agree with Prime Minister Trudeau. Canada has been a kind and generous ally, and our current government leaders are just coming up with excuses for this stupid ass trade war. \n\nI am so sorry to all the Canadian citizens whom this negatively impacts. I hope you will show grace to those of us who voted against Trump and who continue to stand up to this tyrant.

America......no offense, but I can't wait to complete bridging trade relationships with the EU, Japan, and China. All of these in recent months started discussions on major trade deals, which could eclipse the trade we do with the US.\n\nI'm sick of this sht from a country rotting from the basement up. \n\nBTW I hear Nebraska going bankrupt because their workforce is made up of 70% of undocumented immigrants....Nebraska is a total trump state...lolrtf.\n\nCanada may hit hard times, but Americans DO NOT KNOW or truly understand us.\nOur connection is deeply rooted in decency and has for hundreds of years. \n\nHow will the world ever trust the US with integrity or honor when it breaches its own agreements.\n\nI believe the US will likely be damaged beyond repair from this antichrist.
2025-03-04 0
America Great again??? how about, no nations doing the trade with the US??? you stay with your people and no bothers other nations, I think thats kinda good solution too!!

I don't care what side of the fence you sit on. I did not need to hear this man speak to already know Canada was, but may yet be, our greatest ally and trading partner. I have no idea what possessed Mr. Trump to decide to stab our allies in the back, but it was not something good. 27.5% of voting age adults voted for him. How many of them were serenaded by hollow promises and a good slogan. Perhaps all of the mud slinging and Russian media interference helped? If you add in our more studious teenagers, truly reformed felons, and immigrants who actually deserve a gold card, that number plummets to less than 25%. I won't ask people to wake up, if you are reading this you are already more than capable of finding out that I speak only the hard truth. This means less than a quarter of america wanted this. This means your vote and opinions DO count. I know it is incredibly difficult to reach for and find answers in a world where your president or primary candidate throws 'fake news' in your face on a regular basis. He is actually telling the truth. When he is not telling you is that he is a primary enabler of 'fake news'. To him, only his word is law, only his opinion matters, only he deserves to be on top, and he deserves authority over all of your lives. Do the right thing, we all have a civil duty to understand our candidates to the very best of our ability. When a man has been convicted of dozens of felonies, and we tell you that this is only what we were willing to expose. You may want start believing us. The genuine facts of his past are unilaterally corrupting to our children and good people alike. Do not let the american people repeat their mistakes, force Mr. Trump to atone for his mistakes. No not empower him to sweep them under the rug for the sake of his own arrogance, because that is exactly what he is doing by trying to dismantle the CIA and FBI. These two institutions are shining examples of America's pursuit of freedom and justice. Freedom to keep billionaires from corrupting the morals of our children. Freedom to know that the rule of law is immutable, our constitution is not just a paper with fancy traditional sentiment. Even if the law may sometimes be bent for the sake of decency, forgiveness, and the pursuit of 'united we stand', our constitution cannot. Amendments require the FULL support of nearly all Americans, not 27.5% of unrestricted adults.

There is a huge opportunity for the rest of the world to lower the economic influence that the US has over us.\n\nThe other large importers of US products should get together and, where available, smash out interim tariff free trade agreements across certain products. Replace US products with alternatives from other countries.\n\nThis will improve diplomatic ties, improve the economic position of these countries and weaken US influence.
2025-03-04 0
Trump doesn't care that he's starting a trade war w other countries bcus it's not about money its about power. They want to tear down the US and the ppl by making the ppl poor and destitute so they can swoop in w all the money & control everything. They want to rebuild a new government that's a dictatorship.
2025-03-04 0
This isn't the 1800s... the world CAN and WILL trade around us. We will be North Korea. Of my family suffers so will MAGAs that voted for this administration. No quarter.

Canada plays a crucial role in supplying energy to the United States, serving as its largest foreign energy provider. Here's an overview of Canada's contributions to the U.S. energy supply:\n\nCrude Oil:\n\nIn 2023, Canada supplied 60% of the crude oil imported by the U.S., amounting to approximately 3.8 million barrels per day. This represented about 24% of the total crude oil processed by U.S. refineries during that year. \n\n\nNatural Gas:\n\nCanada provided nearly 100% of the natural gas imported by the U.S. in 2023, underscoring its significance in meeting U.S. natural gas demand. \n\n\nElectricity:\n\nIn 2023, Canada exported approximately 33 terawatt-hours of electricity to the U.S., accounting for about 85% of U.S. electricity imports. \n\n\nOverall Energy Trade:\n\nThe total value of energy trade between Canada and the U.S. in 2023 was approximately US$153.7 billion, with Canada exporting energy products worth US$123.7 billion to the U.S. \n\n\nThese figures highlight Canada's pivotal role in supporting the U.S. energy infrastructure across multiple sectors.

Trump is front loading the dollar crisis.\nHowever bad, it’s better to have a controlled demolition of US trade now than a total collapse in 5 years
2025-03-04 0
I'm not an expert by any stretch but I think what America is trying to do is, by doing this, force the US market to start up working again, America can make 90% of everything it needs. \n\nThink about WW2. America wasn't reliant on world trade or manufacturing. Quite the opposite actually.\n\nOnly thing that makes sense to me.

Idiotic move that potentially put Canadian life into hyper inflation. Canada cannot win a spitting trade war with the US, period. You know I've got a better idea - lift that 100% tariff against Chinese EV. That will not only prevent a price hike of consumer goods in Canada, but also piss Trump off, deeply.
2025-03-04 0
No, the US did not launch a trade war, Donald Trump did, there’s a big difference.
2025-03-04 0
your farms need the 80% of the pot ash they import they are really going to feel it soon. they wont plant the seed if they cant fertilize properly then theres 60% crude oil imports at 10$ a barrel, not anymore and 30% soft lumber. thats just the tip ? for those that are cheering this on still enjoy, trump gave us 30 days and we used that time to sign new deals without you. mexico's president was right 7.5 billion people on this planet outside of the u.s.a. we dont need you we can just go on trading and doing business with each other and move forward without you. BUILD THE WALL BUILD THE WALL, and hurry up about it will ya
2025-03-04 0
Canada already had high tariff's on us and Canada knows they can't win this trade war. Should have worked better helping with the border, Trudeau lies out his ass constantly. His own people have called him out for his corruption.
2025-03-04 0
The US didn't declare a trade war, we didn't want it either. President Trumpski did this all on his own.
2025-03-04 0
The US gives $200 billion yearly to Canada. U.S. banks are not allowed to do business in Canada, but yet we allow their banks in the US...by the way LOOK IT UP. You liberals are what's wrong with both countries. Inflation is created by printing money with no concrete backing such as gold/oil, not tariffs. Will tariffs create short term inflation yes, will it stimulate jobs, spending absolutely yes. For those liberals who keep saying how intelligent this ? is...this is the same guy who disarmed his beloved citizens and gave the guns to Ukraine. For those who sympathize with this ?, move to Canada. I have no ill will towards Canadians except the cancerous liberals that allow idiots like Trudeau to take office. Look at the facts before you sympathize with a country that doesn't benefit us in EQUAL FAIR TRADE.
2025-03-04 0
World Trade War any country with trade deficit even surplus getting tarrifs on US industries ..
2025-03-04 0
Canada has taken advantage of the US for far too long; the US needs jobs; manufacturing in the US will bring jobs back; forcing Canada to trade fairly will bring manufacturing back to the US. If Trudeau wants a trade war, he will lose. We can get those raw materials from other sources.
2025-03-04 0
We’ve been getting screwed over by Canada for years. It was never free trade for us. It only only free for them
2025-03-04 0
POTUS Trump is making irreparable blunders on key geopolitical issues like Ukraine, Gaza, trade wars with friendly trading nations. He is systematically destroying the 80 years old US foreign policy and global standing as a democracy that was instrumental for building trust and confidence on USA at the global stage.\n\nTragically, under the so called MAGA mantra he will destroy not only US economy but also of the global economy with his scandalous and outrageous protectionist trade policies and geopolitical blunders.
2025-03-04 0
Indeed. Make that make sense. You have opened a trade war and it's going to hurt your people, Mr. President. You will see protests in your country. We will do what we have to do. Your people are going to suffer and get really tired of all the 'winning'. This is on you. We have complied with all requests. You betrayed us. We won't forget that.
2025-03-04 0
Let's wait for a US-Russia, or should I rather say White House-Russia free trade deal. I wouldn't be surprised at all.
2025-03-04 0
It's gonna be much worse for americans then us canadians. no one wants to trade with you now. donny better figure out how to grow money on the trees at his mar a lago golf course otherwise you won't have any and americans are going to starve
2025-03-04 0
Trade Deficit. US imports more than they export.
2025-03-04 0
Yall are sheep. \nEvery country needs imports. But America relies on so many other countries to keep itself going is more than unhealthy. If China and the US went to war, yes, China would suffer. But look around your house, I bet most of it says - Made In China. That can NOT happen to the extent it is. \n\nFun Fact- when Russia, Ukraine war started, Russia couldn’t get Coke ( Soda ) now Russia has many knock offs that they say taste just like ours. Point is, Russia started making their own. Yes, the US will always need imports. But did you know over a dozen + countries already have & had tariffs on the US for a LONG time, some are even our “ Allies “. Do you know why they do it? To protect their economy. To protect domestic goods. The short term is always the hardest. But it’s been proven that the long run, tariffs actually help a country’s economy. Also, the US gets shafted when it comes down to a lot of trade deals. Yeah, okay, imports are great… ( If you are getting a good deal )
2025-03-04 0
I'm proud of you Prime Minister Trudeau! Stand your ground! Thank you for representing us so well in this moment. \n\nDoes it make sense to be at war with your peaceful neighbors? Canadians can trade with the rest of the world.
2025-03-04 0
Lady, this is gonna hurt the US worse than Canada...we will find new trade partners...NO ONE but Russia wants anything to do with your country now
2025-03-04 0
Wish we could trade our terrible US President for the principled Canadian President, but we'd have to give a lot of concessions for a fair trade.
2025-03-04 0
Donald J. Trump is the very Best US President we have seen in our lifetime. President Trump only expects trading partners to treat the US fairly.
2025-03-04 0
Trudeau is a joke. While he is pushing his agenda. Fur starters, he fails to mention the trade deficit with the usa. So bottom line while everyone loses, canada loses more. The us can survive a lot easier without canada, while canada will suffer a lot more without the usa.\n\nWhen i bring cheese from the usa to canada, there is a 200% tax on anything above my $20 personal exemption, the save is not the same when bringing dairy to the usa.\n\nIf you want to be treated fairly, treat others fairly.\n\nAfter watching zelensky from Ukraine, Trudeau is pretty stupid if he thinks he will win this one.
2025-03-04 0
If your most stable genius noticed that this very eloquent man referred to very. simple. speech. and. short. main. sentences. when addressing him? Yes, you can insult people without throwing stupid names at them. Very fitting. The orange messiah deserves every malice he can possibly get. And more, because this whole trade war will affect especially poor and medium income US consumers. CANADA will help Canadian citizens affected from the tariffs. Guess what DT´s administration will do for US citizens. Exactly.
2025-03-04 0
It would be the US that is the bully that started the trade war\n\n\nI’m embarrassed
2025-03-04 0
Us trade deficit with Canada is $63 BILLIONS !!!! How is it fair?
2025-03-04 0
You mean Justin Trudeau‘s response not Canadians and certainly not mine. This is an underhanded way of taxing the people nothing more. Levy and tariffs against the United States in retaliation has little to no effect in a positive way but it will hurt Canadians in a big way Even more than Trump‘s tariffs will have you forgotten that our current trade deal that Trump hates so much was actually created and signed into love by him? Poilivre won’t help us either. I can pretty much guarantee you he’ll out the same way as Trudeau but he will throw you a bone in here and there and no, I am by no means liberal. I’m not conservative. I’m not NDP. I am a free singer. I am a Canadian and I am tired of politicians, bullshit lie cheat, steal. It’s all they know.
2025-03-04 0
I'm from Scotland, and it's extremely weird that we heard the exact same shit over the past few years. \n\nRich just getting richer and robbing the crap out of us....trade this ??
2025-03-04 0
Trump is too stupid to understand that bi-lateral trade imbalances will always balance muilti-laterly when Canada buys from a third country that then buys from the US. Stupid, stupid and stupid all the time due to economic ignorance..
2025-03-04 0
The US citizens will be impacted by every trade war the US engages in. Every other country will only be impacted by 1 trade war with the US. We will suffer more.
2025-03-04 0
Hearing trade war with Canada shoukd make every single America realize our country’s president is not fit to lead us yet half the country is so brainwashed they could be convinced their own mothers are evil
2025-03-04 0
Canada - we welcome you to more free trading with your friends in Europe. We have already started boycotting US goods. ????
2025-03-04 0
In the USA. There is no justifiable or sensible reason to launch this trade attack on countries throughout the world. It hurts them, it hurts us (the working class American). This president makes any comment or accusation and insists we call it fact. I feel for Canada. America is in trouble too.
2025-03-04 0
The US didnt launch a trade war!! Putins orange buddy did.
2025-03-04 0
A prolonged trade war with Canada will will smash the US economy. A prolonged trade war with Canada, Mexico, China and Europe, will END the US economy.\n\nPS: Dear Americans, your President is trying to ruin the market value of your country so him and his friends can buy it on the cheap...
