Yes in the 80’s as a new emigrants we had to work for our living. We never ever thought to get help from the government we are all integrated in to a Canadian society. We paid taxes from the day one that made us true Canadian citizens. Which I’m a very proud of. In my street two houses own by East Indians They don’t take care of their properties like us taking care of our property. Should I assimilate in to there’s way of life ? Or they should assimilate into our society? The answer to this question is very simple . Assimilate to our way of life or move back to India.

This isn't immigration and assimilation. This is invasion. I think if you come to Canada, you are no longer a Sikh, Muslim, Indian etc. You're Canadian. There shouldn't be sub-cultures inside Canada. We shouldn't see people's skin color. If anything, we are MORE obsessed with skin color than we were in the 90s.

Sad but true. i am an immigrant myself but I am sad to say these people who manipulate the system to be here and abuse every law are a disgrace to the immigrants who came the right way, follow the law, and assimilate and live Canadian values.

When my parents immigrated to Canada from the Caribbean in the mid-70's they held onto certain cultural customs, while assimilating to Canada. My father was very thankful to be here and was proud to be Canadian. Immigration today is not the same.

You know, Brampton even before trudeau was becoming basically little India, and most Canadians just said whatever let them have it, we kinda accepted it. But after trudeau with mass immigration and them taking over other cities its when it became a little too much and started to take over canadian culture. I had a friend visit from the u.s for the very first time, and we did some sight seeing, you know going to places around ontario that tourists would check out, went to niagra falls for the first time in maybe 10 years man it changed. It was 90% Indian people. She noticed it right away but didnt say anything, i said a lot of indians huh? and she said yeah didnt think canada was like this. When you think Canada its always been mulicultural, you just think of all ethnicities and people of different cultures but at the end of the day everyone was Canadian and they assimilated. Now you dont think of a multicultural country you think of an indian country thats changing the canadian culture and way of life and not in a good way. Identity is being taken away and it needs to stop. Canada needs to take notes from Poland before its too late. Poland closed their doors and guess what? economy went up, crime rate went down, people are happier. Canada opened the doors, crime rate shot up, economy crashing, more homelessness then ever and so on. Not saying its specifically Indian people, its the amount coming in and how they adopt canadian culture but instead bring their culture and trye changing the country to fit them rather then fitting in with an already established country and culture.

They bring Indian culture, food, language and religion to Canada, and never try to assimilate to Canadian culture.

Please stop mass immigration. The Canadian immigrants of today are not the ones of the 90's and early 2000's they come with no intention of assimilating into Canadian culture. Till that changes, we need to tighten our borders, especially to foreign students from the Middle East and south asia who are abusing our system.

As an Indian, you Indians in parilament will have to add more diversity to school circulums. If you don't want to assimilate with white people, then fine but you'll at least have to advocate for indigenous languages to be pushed into Canadian schools.

You can tell the people "concerned" about Canada are straight up just hiding their racist agenda. Yes its hard to assimilate in a culture that is so vastly different from India, you can't blame the people. Large majority of them came here legally and frankly are stuck here because of the investments and loans they've taken to come to this country. There are so many people who are trying to make friends with other cultures especially white but they say they don't show as much love and openness as we do. You can't say "they don't assimilate" when you yourself don't allow them near you.

IDK I wouldn't mind a Sikh or Hindu immigration problem, as long as they all eventually assimilated to the Canadian way of life. They should be happy they're not Muslim refugees. Though I notice they have those undesirables in Canada as well.

Ok so Indians who came to Canada in 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s they tried to a assimilate but the whites never let them. They were racists, never gave them equal opportunities, always belittled them. So then those same Indians grouped together and created their business for their own and now you complain we do not assimilate. Dude clean your own backyard before complaining about others. It costed me $750 dollars, and before that just a walk in visit costed me $$175 dollars. And about paying taxes, I garuntee you a single houshold of Indians pay more in Taxes than a whole street of these white shit heads. Im a Canadian and honestly I've NEVER had a problem finding a job, I don't even have my highschool... I think it has to do with *which* jobs they are applying for. I get that theres an "immigration" problem, the refusal to adapt and assimilate feels like a slap in the face especially when the same few will talk I'll of the same system they benefit from. HOWEVER I don't think it's good to lump all of these problems together and dump collective blame on immigrants. Are the ones saying they can't find work willing to work in trades? General laborers making $25-$30+++ No experience required. Tradespeople are glad to teach people willing to work hard and learn.. What about warehouse work? Apply to your 5 closest warehouses, I guarantee youll get in 1.. ALSO the government IS willing to help Canadians get little certifications like forklift, smartserve, CPR.. Career colleges can help with training (e.g - computer) as well as soft skills. So yeah, I wonder if it's people being just as picky as they were when Canada wasn't in the economical shitter it is in rn? Maybe Im far luckier or fortunate than most? Maybe expectations are too high? Maybe some stubbornly refuse assistance they are entitled to? Im not sure, but I do sympathize/empathize with you guys, I hope you all can "get through". I pray we can find solutions to this insane cost of living / broken housing market / price gouging / tiny group of business owners having a complete market control and a monopoly on everything thing we need to survive - without competition, limitations or government regulation🫩. As an immigrant of Canada, I migrated here in 1999 when I was like 4 years old, I love Canada, and I consider myself Canadian, with a Jamaican background, I share my culture, but I assimilated to Canadian culture because this is where I live, my home, I want to be part of Canadian culture not too change it.

The languages of our ancestors. Learn the language or leave.

Culture is a tricky thing. Is it not a known fact that one may not be all that interested in their culture and religion in their country of origin, but once immigrated to a different land, these same people become more attached to their original culture and religion, even more orthodox in their beliefs. They try to recreate what is familar. Why are we surprised most are not assimilating? It takes, for most, many generations. And even then. Immigrants will always, in one way or another affect change in the general culture. Think of different cuisine, the arts, influences on our beliefs, etc. What is a Canadian anyways? One who lives here? Who pays taxes here? How long of roots do you need to have before you are no longer called an immigrant? We have a very large country and from one community to another there is a difference in the culture. Perhaps we need to be clearer on what is in fact our highest Canadian values and communicate them more effectively. I would also like to add that there is suffering in not being able to pass on your culture. Watching your children and grandchildren speaking a different language, not having them understand yours enough for you to enjoy signing traditional songs to, not being able to guide them in your religious beliefs, etc., in the name of them becoming assimilated. I am experiencing these and my roots go back over 400 years on this land.

Damage is done and by the time it is fixed which I doubt it will, it will be too late. My daughter is a fully qualified for graphic Designer and yet (with thousands of $$$in student debt) cannot find a job. She actually put in her resume with an Indian name as well as in her own name. Guess which resume had a call for an interview, yes - the one with the Indian name. This is insane. I require personal health-care at home and i REFUSE TO have my Canadian worker be replaced with an immigrant from Kenya. Sorry but the Canadian worker has been here for 5 generations and then suddenly she's going to lose her house because of this situation with immigrants. Not if have anything to do with it if and when i can. Sharia law, and other foreign practices are not respectful to Canadian culture. If they dont assimilate to our culture, speak our official languages (French and English). Deport them all. I don't hate the immigrants themselves, but the way our country handles immigration. I'll be the first to admit it's getting harder to keep those two things separate. What compounds that hate is since I've been looking at moving out of this country... it's disheartening that most countries (rightfully so) make you have to be able to both assimilate and afford to fend for yourself to get a immigrants visa. And I guess Canada isn't enough of a shithole to get refugee status... yet. Like many Canadians now, I'm living cheque to cheque to make ends meet. Welp, about a half an hour ago when I got home, I realized that someone broke into my apartment building and stole my shoes that were infront of my door. SHOES. last year someone broke in and stole my bike. The thing is, this area was NEVER like this. It was safe and people trusted each other. Guess what has changed? The amount of immigration in my city and in this area. I am terrified during the night that someone will break into my apartment since theyve been able to get into the building. When I moved here 7 years ago, Canada felt like heaven. People were respectful, culture was strong, even Tims had great customer service. I was eager to adapt, made Canadian friends, worked in a church Downtown, Barrie to assimilate. Now it feels totally different, more chaotic almost third world in parts. Honestly, I don’t blame immigrants, I blame the laws. They’re too soft, and people take advantage. Refugee protection, settlement aid, multiculturalism sounds welcoming on paper, but in practice, they’re dragging the country down.

The ignorance of allowed people from certain demographics has only fustrated most Canadians. Because they have no interest or intentions of assimilating to Western culture . If anything, they will cause the same grief as European nations are suffering from their demographic trying to colonize and bringing their own conflicting beliefs and behavior.

No Canada has not been long deemed a hub of multiculturalism. You are a globalist liar. Multiculturalism has been crammed down our throats in the last 3 decades. Canada was created by immigration alright, but immigration of Judeo-Christian Europeans who all assimilated into Canadian Culture. In the last 3 decades they have been trying to destroy that Canada by bringing in people from everywhere but Judeo-Christian nations with nothing in common with that Canadian culture and trying to force Canadians to accept being replaced by non assimilating 2nd, 3rd and 4th world Rodents who try to turn the country into the shitholes they ran from. You can lie all you want. Canada is finished if they don't deport everything that came in illegally under Trudeau and Harper that have been allowed to discriminate openly along with the women against the White males that created everything. That is what's happened in Canada, not the BS you spew here. Deport them all and Make Canada Canada again. One last point, foreign students have been the biggest nothingness brought in. Canadian kids get excluded because the foreign student pays twice the tuition, that's the only reason they are brought in. The majority make nothing better and disrespect the country openly, daily. Kudus to you for trying to report as factual as possible. Im also an immigrant (45 years ago). I have long since been assimilated and consider myself as Canadian as anyone. I don't defend or condone your arguments as many of them are spot on but what i do have to say is we as humans are grossly flawed and i don't see improvement only decline. However there is still good left in this world. I believe we should treat each other with respect and judge on an individual basis as opposed to stereotyping. I still deal with stereotyping every day of my life. The real issue is not race it is cultural or rather the unwillingness to assimilate.
