My apt building is filling up with immigrants, all the whites are moving out as the landlord is letting our building turn into a slum, whenever i call, he is in India, he has not fixed a damn thing and as white people move out, he does not clean the apt between people, he let's them move in with other people's garbage, he did that to me and when i complained he asked for the keys back, he is also doubling the rent of the new immigrants. The housing shortage is a common thread to the economic/ housing crisis! But why aren’t they building rental units??? Simple, would you build a plane if your passengers simply boarded the plane and refused to pay?? if that were to happen the offending passengers would be de-planed and arrested! \nBut when it comes to renters, they can move in, stop paying rent and it can take 6-12 months to legally evict them. As a former contractor I have been witness to landlords offering cash to tenants and squatters to leave their properties which have always been left trashed and badly damaged! The laws that protect these criminals are a joke and predatory tenants know it! I had a client who rented her condo to a lawyer and after a couple months the tenant stopped paying. She filed for a writ of possesion and waited months for the hearing. She brought all the documentation and the tenant showed up claiming they had cancer ( no documentation, letter from doctors Nothing!) The writ of possession was denied for compassionate reasons! The landlord had a mortgage and was paying the condo maintenance fees, the tribunal didn’t care! \nThey set it aside for six months. In the end cash was offered and the tenant left! After the massive clean up and damage was repaired it was put on the market! This is how far left Canada has gone! There’s simply no way forward!

Canadian expat living in Asia. Just returned from a visit to Canada. While spending time with family and catching up with them was awesome, I couldn’t wait to be back in Asia. I’m enjoying a lifestyle here in a tropical beach that would be unreachable in Canada. Eating out all my meals, going out, attending cool events, flying frequently to nearby countries for a weekend or week or weeks at a time. Eating clean healthy food, meeting inspiring and friendly people. Typing this from the beach on a Sunday morning while enjoying my big freshly squeezed carrot juice cup that I paid 60 cents for! \n\nCanada only for visiting once a year. \n\nSave money, work remotely or better yet, learn a high income skill and live anywhere while making money online is the new FREEDOM PLAN. From cleaning, maintainance, administration to teaching, each college operates with approx 20-30million budget. So, more students lead to more employment for Canadians who further pay taxes.\n\n\n3. All students start work straightaway, pay taxes, and do not qualify for social security. They do not qualify for any student loans by Canadian govt or banks. So, they generate revenue for Canada through their work and taxes. The thing that govt LOVES.\n\n\n4. These students become new consumers and their expenditure generate revenues for local businesses.\n\n\n5. Most Colleges would not survive without international students. Which is good in the sense that only quality colleges will survive and other hanky panky colleges would shut down. The carbon tax section is completely misinformed. 8/10 Households in Canada, and almost all households around median income gain more in carbon tax rebates than the price increases they pay. The median income households receive around $1000 CAD more than they pay in carbon tax-resulting price increases, and it's paid for by the pollutants that ruin our air, cause wildfires, abandon oil rigs and ruin our nature. Even if the households received less, the revenue from carbon tax is used on clean air incentives, and I think it's a pretty rational opinion to believe that I'd rather have pollutants paying for ruining our environment than doing it for free.
