I appreciate this reporting. To some it might seem anti-immigration, but I thought you did a great job reporting on the issue while keeping politics out of it. Kudos to you, guess Journalism isn't a total lost cause after all.

India is considered a THREAT TO the developed world because most Indians coming to the West are from Gujarat or Punjab...India needs to turn like NORTH KOREA where no one can work,move,travel or leave the country without any permission from the government..Also if India is having problems then most Indians will protest against the government demanding great things like economic freedom,political stability and very little corruption.\nIndians from Punjab are very dangerous and are more likely to be deported rather than coming to the West.

Quebec is a great province if you speak good french. Otherwise you might not be comfortable there. The linguistic politics are very tiresome, which deny english linguistic rights and even affects education choice options. However it used to be a backward province so it has come a long way!

I have lived in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and now Alberta. Toronto was beautiful in the 60’s and 70’s then it started to change to what is now overcrowded, expensive and crime ridden. I would not choose it anymore. Winnipeg, Manitoba in the mid to late 80’s was lovely. People were polite especially in winter, when driving was challenging, friendly and it is very cultural. People would say it would be the best city in Canada if it was in the mountains. Now I live in Edmonton, Alberta a dirty city with a council that puts high priced, unaffordable recreation centres ahead of services that would benefit everyone. Now they want to increase the population to 2 million when it can’t afford to sustain the existing population of 1,568,000. The taxes this year have risen to 8.9% and house prices are expected to increase 6.5% for an average price of $458,000. I lived in Calgary, in the Fish Creek provincial park area close to the C-train and a good bus service to downtown. 45 minutes from the mountains and Kananaskis, great zoo, vibrant downtown and if it is not much more expensive than Edmonton and is ranked 7th best city to live in worldwide. To compare the 2 cities, Edmonton tries to be world-class but just doesn’t have what it takes. The people seem to have very little pride in their city, the parks are a mess of weeds which also grow wherever there is green space and they very possibly have the worst and rudest drivers in the country. Very sorry if this offends anyone.

The real question is Canada vs Florida because the U.S. consists of many mini countries that have agreed on a common constitutional document and basic laws but otherwise are different countries. With that said Canada loses on every metric that matters to Florida. From economics to taxes to business to self defense and personal property Florida wins. The U.S. is secular but politicians of all nations will bring it up to some degree thinking this is somehow unique to the U.S. means you don’t understand the U.S. When it comes to political and religious diversity the U.S. has a larger population consisting of the entire world its by definition diverse. Canada doesn’t have sensible gun laws it just leaves those who can’t defend themselves at great risk.\n\nCrime is high in cities that have laws & culture closer to Canada than they do the U.S. Which have the strictest gun laws in the country. It’s bad politics & culture which are most similar to Canada that has resulted in higher crime rates. \n\nGun laws in the U.S. are for Americans to have the option to fight against a tyrannical government like we have scene in Canada with the truckers and mass freezing of bank accounts. That is what the right to bear arms was for first and foremost not just self defense. Canada ignores this entirely and instead has the perspective of give the government all the power and expect government to be “good” and act in good faith to the people which it has continually failed to do so. Canada has to bribe Quebec just to keep its country together something that has been an issue since the founding of Canada is parts of it breaking off due to tyrannical federal government power abuse.\n\nFreedom comes with risks but it’s always better to be free.\n\nPeople who leave the U.S. for Canada are doing so for political reasons otherwise they can leave their blue progressive crime filled cities for free cheap safe red states.\n\nI encourage all Canadians to search moving from Canada to Florida and you will find many Canadians that realized the American Dream. I would never move to the US. Not on your life. Your statement that one can get healthcare for several hundred a month is ludicrous. Most Canadians don't have to pay anything, except their taxes, which are not higher than most Americans pay. And the huge costs of healthcare pop up at the worst time, when you're really sick. But that isn't the only reason. I loathe American politics. I loathe the American tendency to brag about how great they are. We Candians are not the greatest country on Earth. Its a tragedy. Our great, well-known, and once established polite and friendly culture has been jeopardized because of immigrants. That's a fact... im old enough to have seen it happen. Diversity is great and that's how the country can benefit of great minds. However, those who come via fraudulent and forged documents do not deserve to be part of this great country. They corrupt and foster the crime in the country. Those fraudulent people once they settled, they root their bad culture in Canada. It is good to give opportunity for refugees but Canada should not be the dump dictators. Instead, Canada should invest in these countries politically and economically rather than own their problems indirectly. Canada needs a good immigration strategy that helps Canadians.

Great video, non political. It’s hard to believe that neither of the large parties in Canada have a plan to mitigate these issues. They’re focused on maintaining their political donations that they barely make contributions. Even with a plan, there is no guarantee that within a 4 year term any politician will be able to impact change with the red tape that every previous government official has added. Decreasing taxes will create an uproar in the government employee. building a department to fight monopolies will require much more tax dollars and time that we don’t have. By the time these changes take place the population will naturally become high income individuals, with low income individuals migrating out of Canada.

being a politician is easy. Just say, change, hope and great. Get in power and carry out the will of the elites and leaders of industry, because if you do something crazy like fight for the average person (peasants) you'll piss off the elites. They'll offshore their companies, you'll lose taxes and get voted out. so its better to appease the elites, you might get voted out. but you'll be richer and have other opportunities outside politics. This is what smart politicians do.

I'm all for immigration to help a country grow however, what Canada has done is first, bring in too many at once and not INTEGRATED the new comers. \n\nFact is, if you want to go to a country because of their freedom and job opportunity then don't come and try to change the country into what you just fled from!!\n\nAnd this is what has happened. I was born and raised in Canada and in my 60’s now. I can’t afford to live here anymore, healthcare has declined, personal safety, fuel costs, insurance etc. most of all our politics are a mess on all three major parties. The Liberals are a royal mess and inflation went through the roof. They’re just running around like the 3 blind mice making fools of themselves. The Conservatives are involving themselves in a right wing romance with fascist trumpianism and think poutine is an ok guy. The hate speech is unreal. We used to be a real chill country. I have young 20 somethings telling me they think Communism is a great idea and they would rather fight for poutine if a war breaks out. Well it’s their future not mine. The AI, bots and trolls on the internet are telling them what they want to hear in order to stir up hate and entitlement. The NDP (New Democratic Party) is neither here nor there, they’re kind of always the minority and swing both the other two parties to divide the vote and gain some form of temporary power. \nI’d like to see a politician that has the balls to stand up to the dictators of this world that shit disturb in every continent because they are such little insecure bastards that they think they can conquer it. I’ve got news for them. Every single dictator in history has failed… miserably and often brutally. We need the kind of leadership in our Country that can produce good governance. Our GDP is just under $60K. The dictators out there are rubbing their greedy little hands, for if there is ever a 3rd world war, Canada will be the prize. We are loaded with resources. Land mass, water, minerals, oil and gas, technology, geographic strategic stronghold etc. Don’t let it slip into the hands of fascists, communists, dictators or totalitarians they always make it worse so that it takes a lifetime to recover. I’ve spent 40 yrs in the workforce, and listened to countless people from every continent who told me the truth about why they left their homeland. People who survived WW2, the Korean War, Vietnam War, communist China, expansionism of the USSR, the caste system and political persecution in India and Bangladesh. Political unrest in Argentina and Chile. I have personally witnessed systemic racism in the USA and Canada. \nI don’t have anything tying me down to stay here so I will be moving on. I think I’ll just become a nomad tourist for a while.

We are where we are, regardless of what political theatre show has been in office. Left or Right, we have still arrived where we are at. It did not just happen in 8 years. Government is always the problem, never the solution. People that think Pee Pee is going to save Canada from Turdo are naive children, lost in their Statist cult mentality. Government - all government - is nothing but a system of coercion, violence and slavery; and the great enabler of everything people complain about.

No country is perfect due to so many reasons, the politics, the culture, natural resources, economic affairs, Healthcare and even the thinking pattern of inhabitants themselves. And it is natural for things to change over time in every aspect. We just need to look at these things with an open mind and make decisions. If Canada would not fulfill your desires simply stay in your homeland and may be try to make it a great place to live.

I hope you will pay attention to politics more even though you’re not passionate about it, because this is just one thing of many of what this government did to Canada. We are US Americans. When our child decided to attend the University of Toronto, out-of-country, 15-some years ago, we researched so much, including the university’s international student pulse. We were horrified to learn the lion’s share of UofT’s international students body intended to use UofT not for a high-caliber education but as a fast-path gateway into the US upon graduation, if not before. International student forum members were quite clear and unapologetic their intentions. In the years since, the US has learned most of these immigrants can’t compete once here and do poorly. The reason is part expectation and part inflated self-assessment — 1. Our urban and suburban housing is just as expensive as Toronto and Vancouver, 2. We don’t have free health care except for the destitute. Even then, it’s minimal, 3. Our ivies and other great universities already supply our best employers, 4. Our academic standards are more rigorous, in most cases, to Canada’s, 5. Our winters are just as cold and snowy, 6. Our summers are so hot, your car and anything in it will melt, and 7. We generally don’t have public transportation except piecemeal in our cities. Further, most of us don’t want Trudeau’s increasingly fascist politics to take hold here, any more than they have already, under Biden.

US family here. We were a big downhill skiing family, and often spent our winter vacations in the Laurentians. The exchange rate was great back in the 1990s and early 2000s. So when the time came to start looking at colleges, our daughter already associated Canada with fun, and fell in love with the University of Toronto. She was accepted. But before Canada would issue her a student visa, we had to provide evidence that we could pay full tuition, room, and board out of pocket. For all four years! They wanted an iron guarantee that she would never become a ‘ward of the state’ or consume public assistance services. We had to jump through soooo many logistical hoops for her to attend, it was exhausting to facilitate. But she graduated with honors in four years. All that time, the city was beautiful, clean, and vibrant, though not inexpensive. The St. George main campus, Queen’s Park, Bloor, Yongue Street, more. Everyone we met was friendly and respectful. We very rarely saw homeless and never tent communities. And crime seemed almost nonexistent except for bicycle thefts. Our daughter made many international friends and forged great relationships she carries to this day. So many wonderful memories. So it’s heartbreaking to hear how downhill the city has become. And the US is no different. It’s all in the politics, and neither Trudeau’s nor Biden’s policies are helping.

Every place has its positives and negatives. Canada is beautiful, clean and green. The people are polite and friendly at a superficial level and the infrastructure is great. But for a new immigrant it's very difficult to make new social contacts or even to get a good job. The cost of living is high and housing costs are exhorbitant. The medical system is terrible with people having to wait weeks to meet a specialist \n\n Indian cities are mostly dirty, polluted and chaotic with poor infrastructure. There is rampant corruption and people can be rude and obnoxious especially while driving. But you can get help for everything and living costs are affordable. Plus the social contacts ..family and friends around are priceless. The medical system is way better provided you have some money.

Let’s not circle the obvious here. These are the major problems in Canada that are greatly amplified and visible in the bigger metro areas:\n\n- Loss of economic opportunity due to the disastrous Liberal government policies of Justin Trudeau, with all the known bad social consequences.\n\n- Out of control immigration. Impossible for a country to absorb that many immigrants in a short period of time to make them productive and pay into the system.\n\n-Rampant and oppressive woke culture. If you disagree with it, you’re labeled anything from racist to transphobic. \n\n-Permissive liberal policies with drug abuse and mental illnesses.\n\n-Spineless Conservative politicians. This is changing, but boy is it taking long.\n\n-Canadian complacency and self-imposed politeness. The worst traits we have as a country. We basically don’t react to bad situations until the shit hits the fan.\n\nI’m hopeful for this country, but we still need to fall further down to do the changes we need to do.

You moved to Canada at the worst time, this is rough for everyone now, well because of politics and stuff. BEFORE 2016 life was great! I was able to buy a house in GTA, find jobs no problem, lots of jobs even during 2008, make good money to rent and save for house. And go out every weekend wow! How about now? You are lucky if you can find a place to rent! Current gov really messed things up! Too bad new comers will just think this is normal, and now know how bad the gov made it for everyone and still making it worse with making up new taxes making everyone poorer, except themselves.

I lived in Canada all my life it used to be a great country to live but government has destroyed the country especially the liberals and the majority of people live in Ontario and Quebec and most people in those provinces are liberals and found the best provinces to live in are Alberta and British Columbia but don’t live in Vancouver, Trudeau has destroyed Canada I’m retired now and I can’t afford to live in Canada and eat up all my savings I moved to Santa Cruz Bolivia where I lose 25% of my pension but I live a comfortable happy life here people are polite and friendly I left Canada in 2018 and I’ll never move back to Canada again

If you are sick and mediocre, Canada is a great place. Canada has no rights and the political system is solely controlled by the Americans and British. Political climate in Canada since 2015 has lead to a great deal of the deterioration of our core values, our economic stability, our health care system. Anyone hoping to own a home in Canada needs a 6 figureincome or it is simplymout of reach. Canada about 20 years ago and before that actually use to be a really nice place to live in. However Canadians voted in two disastrous political leaders that have ruined Canada. Im a Canadian, currently living in Vancouver but I've lived in many countries and will expat again. What it boils down to is if you have a good professional job that pays well, quality of life here is fantastic (among the best). Great schools, clean, great for young kids, and unparalleled acces to the best nature in the world mintues from a world class city. But life gets difficult quick when you cant afford anything. All these other complaints are blown out of porpotion (politics, drugs, etc...) by many and mostly don't really impact most people. In my experience, most people really leave because of better pay in the US, or because Europe has more culture, or asia has many more contries to explore close, or has LATAM has better weather etc...

Doomers be dooming. Canada is still one of the best countries to live anywhere. While income disparity continues to grow and there are several domestic issues that need addressing, and the political and social climate isn't great, you still have lots of work and skills training opportunities, robust, if decaying social support structures, pretty low crime rates, decent education. You're not being incarcerated or killed for no good reason, you're not being oppressed by the government, your children don't have to work in sweatshops and parents don't have to sell their children into prostitution. You children aren't being gangpressed into being child soldiers, you aren't being shot at when you vote... social media is being weaponized by manipulative cloutchasers and foreign actors.

I've also lived in Vancouver for 3 years, Toronto for 5 years, returned to Montreal for another 3 years, and have now been in Quebec City for 15 years.\n\nAs a Quebec City resident and business owner, I find the city amazing. During the pandemic, there were many programs and subsidies available. I even wrote to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau regarding the CEBA program for businesses, suggesting some changes to the eligibility criteria. They followed through, and Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau sent a detailed response, signed by him but likely written by his staff, explaining the revised criteria and suggesting other potential programs. Provincially, my MP's staff guided me through various programs. Ultimately, I received nearly everything I needed to survive and potentially thrive through the pandemic (to be confirmed in 2024).\n\nTaxes are high, but I feel safe in Quebec City. Crime rates are low, and I've experienced little racism, possibly due to my fluency in French. Starting a business here has been easy, with minimal costs and bureaucracy.\n\nAs a gay man, I've never felt endangered. I can comfortably express affection for my spouse in public without feeling judged.\n\nHealthcare, including access to medication and doctor consultations, is extremely affordable. Super Clinics offer next-day appointments at no cost.\n\nI own a commercial condo for my business, which cost significantly less than it would have in Toronto or Vancouver. My rent for a one-bedroom apartment is CAD 755, and electricity bills are remarkably low.\n\nWith the shift to online business, I've accessed international markets while benefiting from a low-cost, safe environment. I received a CAD 2400 subsidy from the Canada Digital Adoption Program, among other government-funded programs, to expand internationally.\n\nAlthough homelessness exists in Quebec City, many supportive programs are available, and most homeless individuals here are polite, likely because they face less stigma.\n\nI believe it's crucial to explore different locations when moving to Canada. Many smaller cities offer great opportunities, which works to my advantage.\n\nRegarding the judiciary system, it's not perfect but feels less biased compared to the Supreme Court of the United States, such as in cases like Roe v. Wade.\n\nMy advice to immigrants is to learn the local language fluently for effective communication. If you want a citizenship I don't suggest you go to any gulf countries, of course ignore any war countries, Malaysia and Indonesia have nice people and I think you can get a citizenship there, Jordan might be a good choice you might be able to get a citizenship and there are diverse groups of people but the economy and civil status laws aren't exactly that great, now Egypt is definitely a choice but the country is kinda drifting off of Islam in the recent years, terrible economic conditions and I don't think a citizenship is possible really, I'm not much aware of the Arab west countries but they have their pros and cons definitely, lots of people there speak other languages and there's some beautiful culture and a considerable amount of political safety compared to other countries in the region, other than the occupation Palestine would've been a great choice lots of foreigners live here but I'm not sure what requirements you need for that and I'm pretty sure they probably wouldn't let you do so as Muslims, I have very little knowledge but I wanted to share what I can, I hope it helps.

He did a great job answering like a politician. Very well done. Weather or not someone has a right to something is very subjective though since the same guy answering this question does not believe Israel has that same right. So.. definitely a politically charged answer.

Malcontents everywhere shit on their own country. Canada is a great and safe place to live and raise a family. It would be even better if we didn't have as many MAGA wannabes in politics. Emulating the Trumps, Farages, Wilders, and Le Pens of the world is not the route to prosperity … unless of course, you're already wealthy and wish to become even wealthier at the expense of everyone else.

Great video! However you forgot to mention an important fact about our Government. As you may be aware our Prime Minister Trudeau brought an SS Nazi into our Parliament who was received with a standing ovation from all parties. Canada is on a dangerous political trajectory. Canadians have seen their right to free speech challenged by Trudeau who illegally brought action against the Freedom Convoy. Trudeau also through Bill C-11 is controlling the media so that he can decide what information Canadians may receive.

Spot on. Moving to Canada was the worst mistake of my life. I wish that I could go back in time and get all the years and resources that I have invested into settling here... Canada has had a great PR internationally, and Canadians are too polite to complain, so I had to learn it on my own after moving. Good that the truth is finally coming out. Everything here is deteriorating FAST.

Things are definitely broken here, slowly deteriorating for the past 20 years, but especially escalated since Trudeau in 2015, and the BS and lies and propaganda since the start of COVID. This country is deteriorating as a direct consequence of our fascist government and broken institutions. Don’t know where this goes, but we are definitely a nation in decline, and the takeover of government by corporate interests and corrupt politics is the reason why. We do not live in a democracy.
